I love this hospital I had to come here to get surgery done. I was super scared and nervous when I say they made me take all them fears and throw it away and smile, even that’s an understatement. They were amazing the nurses and doctors and anesthesiologist that took care of me was on point from start to finish they was very caring and made sure I had everything I needed and I was comfortable. Hands down the best experience and I was scared at first about the outcome and all. Just an amazing group of people thanks to the staff, and thanks to dr funk for handing my procedure love it. HORRIBLE!!! Left my mom waiting in radioactive basement room for over an hour. After an hours wait, and asking several people what she should be doing or going, the CT tech, Erica on 9/29/21, said “there you are I’ve been looking all around for you!”. She turned up the CT scan so high that I screamed out loud and she reprimanded me for making too much noise. These people are HORRIBLE at patient care!! DO NOT GO THERE! I wouldn’t trust them or their results!!!

On July 22nd I want to urgent care because my throat was very swollen. Because urgent Care did not have a CAT scan they had me go to the ER to get my further testing done and it turns out that I have a goiter. A week later I made a doctors appointment and he asked me how my medication was going. I told him Im not on any. He informed me that the ER gave me some in order to get by until I saw a doctor. Ok, so fast forward until 8/9/2021 I was at work when all of the sudden I had trouble breathing and started shaking ( tremor like/seizures) the one lady with bleached hair and short would yell at me stop it when they would start again. Basically she acted like I was taking it. Even heard her tell a nurse that. All of this information should be in there computer system since all of this just happened. After being released they put down reason for visit is hyperventilating and chills. I know my own body when there is something a worse than that. I looked up the side effects of my medication and it say causes tremors and seizures. This is a horrible Er and I dont want to deal with them in the future

I’ve nothing negative to say about this hospital , the doctors , the staff , or the care . Someone dear to me had a very serious life threatening medical emergency . He was transported to WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital . He was treated immediately and thoroughly. The doctors were very knowledgeable and informative . The nursing staff was caring , concerned , and well informed with the needs and concerns of this patient . The hospital is immaculate and everyone was extremely accommodating with obtaining necessary information that has been vital to continue this patients care . This patient received a follow up phone call the day after their release from the concerned staff . They inquired on the well being of this patient and offered their help and services for continuing his medical care .

I will start off by saying the nurses are super sweet and caring towards their patients. I was admitted over the weekend for issues with a kidney stone, but before that I was in the ER, twice. The first time I had a super sweet nurse, but they wouldn’t give me pain medication for 3 hours. (Granted they must watch out for drug abusers). The doctor that was in that morning was very good at explaining the situation to me, but basically told me to not come back in again for something “so small as a kidney stone”. Needless to say I was sent home without being checked to insure I could retain liquids and medicines on my own. Within five minutes of receiving water and medicine at the hospital it came back up and the nurse at that point was gone because the doctor had already told her I was discharged. I went home and waited to make sure this wasn’t a one time fluke, it wasn’t. So I made my second trip back into the ER with even worse pain. They finally admitted me to the hospital (pediatrics wing to be exact). The staff there were so nice and understanding and helped me through everything I needed. They even gave me a stuffed bear, markers, and a drawing pad. Best care I’ve ever received! I ended up having surgery to remove the stone, and it all went very well and I was sent home the same day.

EVERYONE I dealt with at this hospital was very nice and friendly! The staff seems very knowledgeable and explained everything in high detail. My daughters nurse Kate even brought the midwife back to my daughters room to answer our questions. My daughters doctor personally called me, with my daughters permission of course, and explained everything to me. My daughter is 21 years old, so it certainly wasnt necessary for her doctor to personally call me. I feel like everyone went out of the way to make sure both of us were well informed. I would definitely recommend this hospital.Update: Another visit to the hospital and again, EVERYONE we dealt with was so pleasant, empathetic, caring and supportive. I cant express in words our gratitude to the entire staff. Thank you so much to Patty, Kristie, Karen, Danica, Missy, Dr. Austria and many, many others. I wish I could remember everyones name. Six months later we found out insurance wouldnt cover it. Then Wellspan told us they didnt need to get preapproval. The insurance company said they did need to get preapproval and said it was dishonest of them to say they didnt need to. Nevertheless Wellspan sent the $5,200 bill to collections even though they told us they were still investigating our complaint. We will never use any of their facilities or doctors again.

Hannah was the first person we met and she was great. Awesome tat! Dr Mike was super thorough and incredibly personable, which is needed in more ER doctors. Hes new so heres to hoping he keeps the air of earnest caring that so many ER doctors lack and cover up with false cheer. Dr Mike if you read this stay cool. :)This was about as positive an experience as something like this could be. Do not do go here! Sat in the ER for four hours with chunks of skin missing from my face, asked the few people that came in for water and all said they would get some but no one did, my face was cleaned to a small extent but I was bleeding for hours and just left there without a bandage or anything, was not asked about covid(this is during quarintine) if I had an assigned nurse I was not made aware of it and people just came in wihout telling us if theyd be back or anything. The docter said that theyd maybe transfer me to Hershey but didnt know for certain, but ended up just doing that. The only way I got water was because I got a really nice ambulance people that go me water before I left. The nurse that I believe was assigned to me said more than an hour before that my face would be bandaged but only did it right as the ambulance drivers can to take me away.If I have another emergency I will either take the long drive in pain to Hershey or Lgh.Whoever manages peoples schedules clearly didnt know what they were doing or were just evil.My ambulance drivers were super nice when going to Hershey mad once there all problems at Ephrata were remidied and iwss treated nicely and given answerss, people that came to check on me and tell me what was happening and give me everything they could to make me feel comfortable and welcomed showing just how bad Ephrata hospital is.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Been having abdominal pain for the past 3 days and they didn’t even do a proper evaluation. Had a CT scan done the day before I went to the ER and even though my appendix wasn’t clearly visible, they decided it was “fine” and sent me home. The next day I had excruciating pain so I decided to go to the ER. They refused to do another CT scan and did an ultrasound instead. Rather than checking my appendix and kidneys (my urine results were awful, everything pointed towards my kidneys) they decided to check my uterus and ovaries instead. Results came in and they said everything was fine so they sent me along with the diagnosis of “stomach flu.” Excuse me, but I don’t think I would be writhing in pain and bawling my eyes out if it was just a “stomach flu.” Never going back there again, going to stick with LGH.

Worst hospital Ive ever visited. Waited 3 and a half hours to be taken back to the ER. Staff in the ER itself was great - they listened and were helpful. After I was admitted, things went downhill very quickly. If you ring your call bell and someone walks in who is not your nurse, they will be very dismissive of your problems. Im not talking about blankets or water, I mean a VERY LEAKY IV site. By the time my nurse came back to see me again the IV was unable to be salvaged, so I had to wait through 8 different nurses looking for a new IV (while using a vein finder) before one had success. Majority of the staff was rude and disrespectful. Phlebotomists literally ripped your blankets off of you, left all the blood work related trash all over your bed, and continued to look in areas in your arms that you know are too scared to draw blood or administer an IV. My sheets were never offered to be changed and I was there for a week. There was an incident in which one of the staff took something from me, and because I had the audacity to speak up for myself, I was treated like I was suspicious towards them the entire time. Another employee lied saying that she was present at the time of the incident (she was not) and because of that I was treated as though I was lying the entire time.I have PTSD due to all negative hospital experiences throughout the past decade, and I was honestly expecting more from this experience. Most of the nurses have no compassion for the patients. I could give 0 stars I would.

I had my son here about 2 months ago, and had to have an unplanned c section. The midwives and nurses are very pleasant and helpful for the most part. There was only one woman that was more worried about clocking out on time than helping during my c section. Having a baby should be an exciting experience, especially since I am a first time mom, and all I could hear as I’m being prepped for the operation was, “I’m not supposed to be the nurse here. So and so was supposed to cover my shift. There’s a mix up in the schedule. I’m not supposed to be here.” She was complaining to the surgeon, and other nurses for having to stay an extra few minutes for my baby to be born. Very unprofessional and cold. Most of the other nurses actually stayed past their shift because they wanted to see him being born. They were happy to help me. They congratulated me and treated me as if I wasn’t a burden. I did not get the name of the one nurse that ruined my experience. I was too exhausted to say anything to her, and was so sick/shaky/in tears to muster up the energy to speak. Dr. Griner was awesome, and my incision looks great. I just wish I knew who the lady was who made me seem like I was a problem for just being there. I would love to speak to her.

My son had a nose bleed, I told the staff that he was bloody and so was his bed. 3 hours later his bed was still bloody. He got another nose bleed and the staff left him with a bloody nose and face, even though he told the nurse Jason. I had to ask for a supervisor in order to get him the proper care. They also did not provide or allow hygiene, no washing up no tooth brush, ect until I spoke with the supervisor. The staff did not keep me updated with what was going on, I had to keep contacting my insurance company to get any answers. There were a few good staff members Wendy, Heidi, Sandy, Hannah, Deb and David. I would not suggest this hospital. Most of the staff was rude and uncaring. This is a paycheck for them and patients are just an inconvenience for most of the staff. I will ever again go to the Ephrata Hospital ER...I went to the Ephrata Hospital ER on Wednesday evening March 6th, 2019, after falling hard onto my back and the back of my head. The first problem that I had was, I was told to get undressed and put on the hospital gown, I asked if I could leave my underwear on and was told that yes I could. Later on, that evening when a different nurse saw I was still wearing underwear, and after she caused me great pain trying to draw blood from my arm, she proceeded to cut off my underpants and a brand new $30.00 bra. I told her I could slip the bra off and she totally ignored me.My other complaint is that the same nurse as above, hurt me and caused pain, and bad bruising to both of my arms, trying to draw blood, and then putting in an IV later. My arms are still sore three days later. I have NEVER in my life ever had anyone have a hard time putting a needle into my arm, and Im always told that I have great veins for drawing blood. Not only was she apparently unschooled on how to draw blood or put in an IV. She was also very rude and kept mumbling. Plus she unnecessarily cut off my brand new underwear that I had been told I could keep on! The entire time that I had to deal with her I felt like I was bothering her. My son was getting very angry and was about to go to the desk and demand another nurse because he didnt like the way that she was treating me.I have no idea what her name was, but she was overweight and looked unkept. In the end, I was transferred to the trauma unit at Lancaster General, since Ephrata doesnt even have a trauma unit! That was the best thing that could have happened to me. I had wonderful doctors and knowledgeable nurses, as well as exceptional care for the three days I was at Lancaster General Hospital. The only reason I went with a 2 star instead of a one star is because during my daughter giving birth to her first daughter she was very happy with that department. My personal experience however with this hospital has always been very frustrating. Through multiple experiences with both my parents and an ER visit with my wife it seems as if this hospital has to scrap from the bottom of the barrel for their staff. No really impresses me as knowing a lot about what they are doing. Certainly none of the staff I have encountered have any idea what bed side manner is. He has lost a chunk of time and does not remember entering the intersection, or the impact, doesnt remember the airbags deploying. He only remembers driving and then talking with people afterward. He has a history of 2, asymptomatic mini-strokes and the ER docs dont think to do a Head CT? I assume they just assume he is in shock from the emotional trauma but he is aware he lost consciousness. Brought my wife in to the ER because of a lot of blood loss during a pregnancy, was told I could not be with her due to Covid -19, Later as she almost passed out they left me in. Feels like the medical system has lost their marbles over this season, they admit people that are sick then don’t let their families in, completely missing their purpose.

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER. No parent wants to have to deal with their teen and thoughts of suicide. As suggested by my sons school counselor I took my son here. He said they were good with handling teens. FAR FROM THE TRUTH. From the beginning we were told nothing. My son was given a breathalyzer. Then walked into a cold room, where a nurse and badged security guard had him strip naked and placed into an uncomfortable scrub set. I literally felt like my son was being booked and sent to jail. Still no one was telling me what was going on at this point. I felt though they were getting ready to take my son from me. I asked a nurse so pretty much my parental rights are being taken from me? and she replied pretty much. I decided at that moment I made the biggest mistake in taking him here. We got through the questions on a clipboard. I was told it needed to be reviewed by a doctor and psychiatrist. Wait! What? Who are you, and this is what determines my son not being able to come home.!? I want him evaluated by them upfront. My son signed himself out. We had to do a drug test on top of the breathalyzer. I asked what was the purpose and the nurse said its done on everyone under the age of 18. So you do this to three year olds? I dont know about that she said. If your child is stuggling with depression and or suicidal thoughts...DO NOT TAKE HERE!! One of the coldest, insensitive intakes ever. They told me its protocol, I TOLD THEM THEN CHANGE IT! THESE KIDS ARE GOING THROUGH HELL AS IT IS!

Dr Nwosu is a joke of a doctor. He does nothing to help his patients. He offers medication you already take, at smaller doses than you usually take! Does he even read charts? He judges you, makes you feel like a worthless pos.

Sat in the waiting room with a cut on my hand that was bleeding and needed stitches. Waited an hour before I ever made it back into the ER. Not to mention, the Triage nurse was one of the rudest nurses Ive ever had. In the time it took to get into the ER, I could have left Lancaster Regional

As an out of state visitor to this facility (helping family), to many this may be a small sized facility, yet the personnel and orthopedic surgeon (Renz) were informative, attentive, inclusive, warm and caring from intake, pre-op, op, recovery, physician and floor personnel. This is my blueprint of a quality hospital and staff!

If I could give less than one star, I would. I went to LGH urgent care yesterday for what I believed to be an ear ache. The doctor there thought I had a more serious issue and referred me over to Wellspan, since it was the closest for me. She called ahead to let the ER know I was coming since this was a real emergency. I got there at 7. I had my vitals taken and then was assigned a room. I was shown to my ER room by the secretary. I walk into the room and the RN at the nurses station looks up and says to me, in not a very nice manner, who are you?! Whats your name? I gave her my information. I had no more vitals taken, was not hooked up to an IV, was not asked if I was cold or wanted a blanket. I was not told to change into a gown. I was told I was being taken down for a CT scan. I went down around 8pm, had the CT scan and the tech was great. So nice to me. I was brought back up around 8:30 and was told my results would take about a half hour. At 9 my results came back from my CT scan. The PA told me he was stumped as to why I was having pain, he asked me if I just had a headache, (are you SURE you dont just have a headache?) but he would have the attending doctor come in to look at me. Well, since the attending physician was coming in, I was hooked up for vitals right away. The physician came in and gave me 3 diagnosis of what I could possibly have. Then she wanted to know why my blood pressure was so high and had my blood pressure taken again. She determined I was in pain. The PA asked me, in a snarky manner, did you take your blood pressure medicine today? Listen, friend. Im 27 years old, I think Im capable of taking my medication....my blood pressure was high because I was in pain! When I arrived at 7 and told the triage nurse, the RN AND the PA that my pain level was a 7 out of 10. I was never offered any pain medication until 9:30 when I finally rang the bell and asked. When I rang my call bell a security guard came in to turn off my bell. I asked him when Id be able to have some pain medication. He said, Im sorry, I cant help you with that. Ill find a nurse. Sweet guy. The PA comes in and I asked for an Advil, Tylenol, a tranquilizer shot, anything please! Then, I also had a question about one of the possible diagnoses, he told me, oh, I dont really know much about that. So I dont know what to tell you. But I have to go, Im very busy with 2 other patients and I have to see whats happening next door. Also, the nurse is upstairs getting your medicine and shes taking a few flights of stairs. It could be a while. SERIOUSLY! I didnt receive any pain medication until 11pm, when I was finally discharged. And the nurse that discharged me and gave me my medication was NOT the same RN I had when I walked in. The PA assigned a different RN to go upstairs and get my medication because the original RN was on BREAK. I work in healthcare too, I know all about wanting to take a break, but dont lie to me about how someone is going to get my medicine and help me, just be honest with me.I think when urgent care sends someone to the ER, its pretty serious. I wasnt able to just get some simple medication and be on my way. This ER is a train wreck and they dont take their patients seriously. I dont mind waiting, I know emergencies happen and other people are sick too, but when the PA tells me theres only 2 other patients in the ER besides me, thats unprofessional and disrespectful. Maybe their problems were more severe than mine, but he and the RN should have made sure I was comfortable before seeing another patient. Also, I was never offered a glass of water, an IV, a soda, nothing. I sat in that ER for 4 hours without anything to drink. Never once did someone come in and tell me it was okay for me to have a drink. Hydration is SO important, especially when someone is in the ER.

Do not go here. This is experience of MANY visits here, and its almost always the same story. It takes 9 hours for 2 test results. Go here at 2pm, get home at midnight and no diagnosis. Thats how they work.Nobody checks on you for 45 minutes to 1 hour often, and they wont tell you any information unless you have a family member pester them for information. There is maybe one good doctor, but if you ever do happen to go here, pray you dont have Dr. Gessler. Shes barely as good as a family doctor, and gives no real information on anything. Shes extremely rough with patients, even gave someone a bruise on her chest because Dr. Gessler pushed into her chest really hard to wake her up, instead of, you know... normal ways of waking her up?The people taking your blood take 5-6 tubes of blood, but apparently they only needed two, and they get rid of the rest. The people that take the blood are almost always badly trained, and poke you multiple times Looking for a vein and youll come out looking like a sheep on both of your arms. The place has a constant flow of fresh nurses that put in IVs, and theyre WORSE. It can take 7 different pokes for them to call in someone who actually knows what theyre doing! There are a few good bulbs in this mess of a place, but thats not even enough to give this place a 2 star rating. If you have a choice, go to the Heart of Lancaster. Its a longer drive, but they wont make you wait 3 hours before they do a single test, or you see a doctor, and 6 more hours before you hear any sort of results. Heart of Lancaster is incredible, and Ill never be going to Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital again.
