If you are looking for a psychiatrist and you found Arista through Psychology today and you are reading this review, I would suggest you stop and call your insurance provider and ask for suggestions. First of all their listing is misleading on Psychology today. They listed themselves located in Ridgewood...they were not. They listed that they accepted my insurance...I had to pay out of network. The copay was expensive, and the Doctor wanted to see me multiples times per week when I was currently seeing a therapist. She told me to leave her, because she wasnt qualified and I get what I pay for. I thought the DR. was unorganized and didnt understand the modern day struggles that I was facing with. When I said that the copay was too high to come multiple times per week, she made me feel inadequate.Call your insurance, they will give you a list of Psychiatrists that are in net-work and they will also find ones that better fit your need. I ended up needing partial hospitalization, which my unqualified therapist recommended. And it was one of the best recommendations, and best thing I could have done for myself.

Dr. Judy was my therapist in 1996 for a year or two and helped me out with some issues I had had. When I needed therapy again in 2015 and saw Dr. Judy for the first time in around twenty years, she knew immediately who I was- my name, my history. That showed me how well she listened to me and cared for me; and thats why, I continue to see Dr. Judy because I feel as if I will never find another therapist who can be as thoughtful as she is. Dr. Judy has always answered every one of my phone calls and texts as soon as she gets them which has made me feel valued. Not only that, she is a down to earth, tell it like it is therapist who will not beat around the bush or sugarcoat anything; she doesnt just tell me what I want to hear, and I wouldnt ask for anything less of her. --- Amy P.- Ridgewood, N.J.

I have been a patient of Dr Judy Gurfine for several years. I have found her to be warm, kind, professional, and knowledgeable. She has helped me immensely with anxiety, depression, panic attacks and eating disorders. My functioning at work and relationships have improved tremendously. I would highly recommend her.
