I sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes barely able to breathe. I was then seen for all of 30 minutes ignored every time I suggested some thing, given a breathing treatment prescribed steroids and was told to leave. They didn’t check any thing other than my vitals and claimed that an O2 stats was the be-all and all of me being able to breathe. You are better off going literally anywhere else. This ER is useless

I have had nothing but great care at Newman Regional Health. Last September, I had Covid and went to the ER to receive an IV at my doctors request. They treated me with such compassion. Everyone from the check-in to the nurses, x-ray technician and Dr. Watters were just fantastic! They calmed my nerves about my condition and reassured me that I was healing well and should recover just fine.My father-in-law had his knee replaced recently and the care and attention that he has received has been nothing but wonderful! I have gone to most of his appointments with him and they treat him as an individual and not just another patient. The new knee is doing great and he couldnt be happier!I would highly recommend supporting our local hospital. We would truly be lost without it in our community.

Go out of town. Its your safest bet. My husband was experiencing numbness in his right arm and dizziness. Took him to the ER; all tests were normal. Second visit a day later; was told he was dizzy because his blood pressure was too high. I asked for him to be transported and was told he doesnt meet criteria. Took him to Stormont Vail in Topeka myself and almost immediately, he was being treated for a suspected stroke. He had in fact had a stroke. Im not exaggerating when I say go out of town.

This glorified band-aid station is not allowing mothers to mothers to have scheduled births due to staffing but they are still open to emergency births....? The responsible thing to do would be to close maternity until staffing is up to par.

Was here 2 nights in a row for unrelated serious issue. Treated quickly professionally. Everything was explained clearly. The care given was great. Proud they are here to serve our area.

Leave it to Newman to send someones bill to collections during a pandemic.Have not received a paper bill from them in months. Called their billing department multiple times to work out a different pay plan. Lets not forget that the bill was because their imaging department did the wrong MRI when I had one on file. Also, you charge the pain management specialist hundreds of dollars to use the space double charging the patient.I would rather drive to KC if I had an issue than ever use your services. This medical center is a stain on the wonderful city of Emporia and the people there. You are taking advantage of people in crisis. It is pathetic.

The ER doctor Seaburger has no respect for his patients. He completely mocked my boyfriend at the nurses station and the nurses and him were laughing. I would much rather drive 45 minutes to Stormont Vail then to be treated with no respect. And I know NRH is going to reply back saying to contact them, I already have. And they can expect a lot more reports from me.

I had a total hip replacement last month. I was delighted with the communication with staff members before surgery. They more than adequately prepared me for what would be going on. Everyone was cheerful and kind. In recovery and when I was settled into my room everyone was very thoughtful in caring for me. I was only hospitalized for one day but the support I received helped prepare me for returning to my home to complete my recovery.

Went there yesterday because my fiance was having contractions and was dilating and they sent us home twice probably wont ever go back. Its changed for the worse

Next time, let me know that only a child patient and the parent is allowed. I understand Covid; but this policy needs to have exceptions. It is elitist and foolish to assume everyone can comply, especially when you fail to notify patients of this when appointments are made.

Thank you Newman Regional Health and special thanks to Karen in your billing department. My 38th birthday will be one to remember. I was cycling across the country on the Journey of Hope Bike Ride. It was the 30th anniversary of this Ability Experience by Pi Kappa Phi event. The team is 30 cyclist and 8 crew members. We ride over 4,330 miles mile to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities. The only days I missed on the bike were in Emporia Kansas. I was hit hard by the Sapovirus. The fine people at Newman Reginoal Health took great care of me. A couple bags of fluid had me feeling better than the day we started our ride first of June in Seattle Washington... Go Cougs. It wouldnt be a proper middle of the night, I feel like death, ER visit with out a billing issue to deal with. That is where Karen comes in. She is the reason I am writing this review. Thank you Karen for helping me sort out my billing by getting my insurance company to pay their share :)

My husband had a heart attack, and we were closest to Newman Regional Medical Center when it happened. We had a great experience for something so scary - both the emergency room doctor and the heart surgeon were informative and kind, and the nurses totally rocked. They made a very difficult situation at a very difficult time (COVID) about as bearable as it could be. Thanks Team Newman!

I had some of the nicest nurses,doctors and staff I have ever had. I went to the er and they got me in quickly, and let me have someone with me in my room. First I had Jan as my nurse and she was the sweetest nurse really funny too, (when Im nervous I make jokes they make me feel better.) She had angel hands when putting in my iv and made me laugh,smile and feel safe which I really appreciate because I am terrified of hospitals . Then I had nick while waiting for my results asked if I needed anything and i joking said I needed a cat for my patient care and he actually did it! That made me so happy. He did joke and make me feel and in good hands. DR.Brinker did everything in his power to help me and went even further beyond. He educated me throughly on every step of my care to inform my decisions he never forced anything on me which I appreciated. Their facilitys were clean, modern, efficient, up to date and pretty niftyThe only reason I am rating it 4 stars (and I might come back and change it because the service was THAT good! )Is because Aetna is not in-network and Choosing an out-of-network health plan, such as Aetna Better Health of Kansas, can result in a delay of up to 14-21 days. And thats really hard on people with state insurance.Still loved the service, people, care, and bedside manner.

It’s actually funny because I was just chatting with some other friends about their horrible billing experiences with Newman and then today I got a second letter. 🙄TWICE they have sent me to collections for an overdue bill that I never received. One was like $60 and one was $35... both small amounts I could have paid in a heartbeat if I had actually known about them.I’m there ALL THE TIME for pregnancy and baby appointments and every time I am I ask if I owe anything then pay it if I do. Apparently they just enjoy screwing with my credit.

Took my son in last night (16 months) due to wheezing, congestion and a double ear infection. I had Dr. Brown he was amazing. There were a few other critical patients in front of us so it was about an hour before he saw us which was understandable. The nurses we had were Sean and Dominic. Sean did his nasal swab to check for RSV and influenza. He took his time even though my son wasn’t having anything to do with it. Dr. Brown came in and ordered a breathing treatment and told me all the side effects. The whole experience was amazing. When it was nurse shift change Dominic came and took over he helped me give him his medicine for the ear infection and apple juice to get it all down. I will definitely be back if Sean and Dominic are there. Dr. Brown was very easy to talk to and made a quick diagnosis.It’s the next morning and my son is acting like himself when he’s not sick, he just doesn’t like taking his meds

My experience has truly been amazing so far! The security guard gave my daughter a teddy bear before even being seen cause he could tell she wasnt feeling well! Dr. Brown is awesome, funny, & truly cares for his patients! His nurse was Mont and she was amazing as well. 💓💓 thank you!

Went in this past Saturday night for abdominal pain. The nurses and Dr. Watson were very informative. I ended up with appendicitis and had surgery shortly after 10am Sunday. Jerry (fun fact did my epidural when I was having my son) told me everything he was going to do. Surgery with Dr. Harris went as good as it can be. No complications during. I absolutely love the staff here.

The worst experience and most definately the worst emergency room I have ever been to. The lack of professionalism was beyond disrespectful. I went in with extreme swelling of one leg, foot and pain. (I had recently had a heart episode and seeing a cardiologist) Never was I put on a band verifying who I was, I waited over an hour before receiving anything for pain, my labs indicated a blood clot, therefore needing sonogram of leg. Showed up in daisy duke shorts and flips flops to do procedure, clearly very unprofessional and unsanitary. It took 5 min for test, still in pain I was then questioned why I was at their ER when I lived in another town (my fiancé lives in Emporia) more questions about my medications, followed with I need to admit you but there’s nothing we can do for you this weekend, I can try transferring you to another hospital but why don’t you just go home and see your own Dr. Mind you the indication of blood clots and infection per my labs. The Dr was insulting and implied due to my being from another town and my already current meds that I was only there for meds making it seem I was a drug addict. Never will I ever step foot into that hospital, er or even send my worst enemy there. This er SUCKS!! Do not go here!!!!

What a waste of time. The arnp refused to treat with what was needed and said my husbands other doctor was wrong. Apparently he should have used Dr. Google! Hate we wasted a co pay for that. Won’t go back there.

I went to the ER today. 4/17/18. The nurse was great. But the ER doctor sucked. He camein and order a shot and xrays of my knees. He came back in awhile later and said that my knees were good. Meanwhile my knees have been killing me for over a week. I should have gone to Topeka Ks ER.

Wife has surgery and no one tells u any thing on whats going on must be under staff our dont care

I went to the emergency department a few weeks ago because I was pretty sick and very dehydrated. For my first time being to the emergency department/hospital and getting stuck with an IV, it was a fairly good experience. I was terrified and alone but the nurses were very kind. Whoever stuck me with the IV was absolutely wonderful! I was freaked about getting an IV but she was very gentle. I was lucky and got to go home that night.

The staff was extremely helpful. They are caring, compassionate and take well care of their patients. In addition, they make sure family is well taken care of too. For example, Casey Cumings , in the ICU, went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

Husband went in for a scheduled surgery at 0915, He sat there for hours his scheduled surgery didnt happen until 1330!!! I had to ask staff for explanation and response was always the same This is just how we do it here. Expect at least a 2 hour wait!. Would have been nice to know ahead of time we would have gone elsewhere! Also said we werent allowed to see him in the recovery room after surgery 😡. Seems extremely unorganized.

So far my experience has been very pleasant, I am 9 months pregnant and have received great care from Dr. Faulkners and her staff, when I got a tour of the hospital the nurse was very nice, funny and helpful to my partner and I. There is always some waiting involved but as of now I love it, I will update my review after the little one comes.

Went to the express clinic on Saturday and did not receive a diagnosis. Of course, went to a physician on Monday and got all taken care of. 3 weeks later I received 4 different bills from two separate visits. No thanks.

Fabulous experience (for a medical issue :) from the moment we walked through the ER doors. Into my 2ND day and no complaints only praise.

Went to the er a while back because i didnt feel good because of high bloodpressure. I whas diagnosed with bloodpressure of 280 and a couple of little strokes. They took all kinds of tests like a headscan and so on that the nurse told me it is routine in the er she did not give me a choice if i wanted them or not .i could not even walk in a straight line .they brought my bp down and send me home not walking straight and just had a couple of little strokes i drove home over s hour.

I brought my daughter into the ER 2 hours ago, because our insurance told me to get her checked for a possible seizure. We are still sitting in the waiting room. They have not even taken her vitals. Inexcusable!Now on my third round of bills for the same visit. Dont go here! They will bleed you dry!

This place will hold your money hostage. Our son went to the ER for a fib, they billed husbands and my insurance so I paid that bill in the mean time they took his state tax return and is holding it hostage for a work comp claim that is in NO WAY related to the other billing. Contacted billing and they didnt care.

Terrible to Veterans. If you have another insurance, they wont send the bill to the VA but rather to that insurance company, possibly leaving you on the hook for thousands of dollars in bills, when the VA would have paid for it.

Today i visited the er. Came in because i was experiencing really bad chest pains after being sick for about 3 weeks. First I told them my pain level was an 8 and they watched me suffer for an hour before giving me anything. Then they ran a few test, did a chest x ray and i was alone for another 45 minutes in excruciating pain because all they gave me was 1000mg of tylenol that didnt do anything. After the 45 minutes was up someone came in and basically said they dont know whats wrong with me and gave me a couple prescriptions thatrun might work. The last thing they said was if I dont start feeling better to go see my regular dr. Im leaving here truly believing that employees dont care about patients and will do the bare minimum to get you out of their room. I will never be returning here and I dont recommend anyone come here if they have a serious medicle emergency

Newman Regional Health brings compassionate care to each and every patient with physicians who communicate well and staff members who are there to assist you at every turn. Emporia is very fortunate to have such an incredible healthcare organization that community members can rely on!

I have gone to Newman Regional to utilize two different physicians, so this does not pertain to a review of the ER. I have had no issues getting seen, I have no issues with the quality of service, nor have I had anything come up with respect to billing or insurance that has caused me a headache. I like this hospital, it is local, close, and I feel well taken care of by the staff.

On 9-10-2015 I fell off my truck tire and I was taken by ambulance to this joke of a hospital. the doctor said I cracked my arm and that there was nothing wrong with my knee. He was extremely rude, made a comment about how I changed my attitude after they administered pain killer. The nurse, while splinting my arm, yanked my arm straight out. After driving 1300 miles in this condition I went to my home doctor and found out that i shattered my left elbow and had to get a joint replacement, tore the ligament in half, and cracked my left knee in two places plus tore my acl. This place is a joke. I wouldnt take a stray, rabid dog there.

40 yr patient....we have new policy we think u owe us $$$ before u can see us based on review of your insurance. Shut this place down I will go to Olathe Med fron now on.

Where people go to die..this is what I heard the nurses on another floor saying about the ER. They also said that their spouses knew to have them shipped to another hospital should anything serious ever happen to them. These were good nurses that have been there for many years..that pretty much sums it up. In my personal experience,my radiology tech was completely condescending towards me and other staff and more worried about having a p!ssing contest with a student nurse, their ER rooms are like closets, they wouldnt allow anyone to come back with me because of the tiny rooms, and I got my test results given to me by the doctor and the nurse and even the lab tech...all 3 gave me a different explanation of the results. Two said it was normal, one said abnormal. Then, I hear them arguing in the hallway about how none of them want to be the one to tell me its abnormal.. and the lab tech that drew my blood had dark sunglasses and a random t shirt and jeans on, which seemed a little odd and unprofessional. No way in Hell Id ever set foot in that circus again.

They are theft they dont do good service but their cost too much

While donating to the poor a local Neer-do-well broke my 1st Lumbar.I complained bitterly about the pain getting worse in my back for six months.I was preparing to commit suicide because I could no longer withstand the nightmare of extremely intense constant pain!My sister flew into Emporia Newman Regional Health and forced them to use their MRI Machine.After reading the results Dr Mark Stephen declared that I needed an Emergency Vertbro Plasty 6 months earlier.My 1st Lumbar had finally collapsed and I am now Severely and Permanently Disabled.The took my money, they took my health and they took my dignity and self esteem away from me for no reason.Newman Regional Health is Guilty of Criminal Gross Negligence for human life.Not mention unprofessional and mean spirited behavior.The mere thought of going there gives me nightmares!Frank Funston Eckdall III begged them constantly to please help me!

They charge you and disregard your other insurances. Several thousand dollars from waiting on them in the emergency room .

ER is a joke. Poor little town needs more options.
