My wifes family has used this funeral home for many generations it has always been a place of love and compassion

My family had used this funeral home in the past when my grandmother and father had passed away. I had been to multiple viewings of people I knew and family members of friends who have passed. My mother had requested to have her funeral at Haights, and to respect her wishes, Haights was used when my mom had passed away at the end of December. I couldnt pay on the day of making the arrangements since I had to work with the life insurance company. I was initially told that the finance charge was 1% per month on the unpaid amount. Nothing else was said about this and the terms were acceptable. The funeral home was paid for the outstanding amount on the first week of March and I had given them $1200 in mid February. Basically it took a week more than two months for Haights to receive their total amount due. In the meantime, Haights threaten with their lawyer, a form was filled out to make a claim on my mothers estate, a not so nice voice mail was left on the answering machine and I felt that I was treated as if I was going to cheat them out of their money. I was shocked at their unprofessional behavior, dismayed and disillusioned in them, especially when I had several years of past experience. The lesson in this review, if you use them, pay them right away or you will see their true business practices and it seemed money was on the top of their list, and not this caring for a grieving family who were doing the best they can under these circumstances.
