Both of our kittens Momo and Zeus have been seeing Dr. Heather Kriensky since 2020! She is incredible and has helped both kittens grow up to be healthy! She is super responsive, properly diagnoses/examines, and most importantly doesn’t overcharge or do uncomfortable things to our boys like other inexperienced doctors do! Going to neuter and chip my Bengal F3 Zeus with them soon with her and I know I can trust her and her service team!Follow @Zeustheplayful on Instagram to see how we are doing!

When my cat became very ill with kidney disease, I was able to schedule a same-day appointment for euthanasia. Dr. Fernandez was competent and compassionate in performing the needed , sad procedure.

Great veterinarians, but customer support is so bad its not worth it anymore. The manager, Courtney, has been so rude and unprofessional to me I cant come here again. She blamed me for emailing the wrong email on why I didnt receive a response about an urgent message to the vet, but after due-diligence and proving I emailed the correct location she hung up the phone on me and proceeded to ignore my calls? I absolutely love Dr. Kriensky and fear trusting my pets with another vet but I dont think I can continue anymore with the mixed customer service. I really hope they get their stuff together though as I would happily come back if they fixed things here.

Absolutely Horrible! I had brought my young kitten to the vet to get her spayed, and everything seemed fine until I got a call saying how my cat scratched the vets eye, and that i was supposed to pay for her eye medicine. The workers are so immature, and doubled the price of the surgery because this doctor could not follow simple safety rules. I complied, as I am not a rude person but I am disgusted by this behavior, and I assure you that i will NEVER be coming to this horrible business ever again. See you never!

We cannot recommend Dr. Buttar and his clinic enough! We moved to the Richmond area in late 2018, after having some great vets in SF at the ASPCA on Fillmore (Dr. Knieper what’s up?!), and we were worried right away about coming to the East Bay and finding a veterinarian we could trust. But we found him right away! Dr. Buttar and his staff are responsive, respectful, and knowledgeable. We took our 6-year old cat to Dr. Buttar, as well as the new kitten we got about a year ago, and he helped us easily get rid of ear mites in the new kitten’s ears. Most recently, we took our 6-year old cat for a checkup, that went well, but Dr. Buttar suggested a deep teeth cleaning. Our Lucy had already lost two teeth; we decided to do it, albeit nervous, but it all turned out really well - not even one extraction! Anyway, we can’t recommend this vet enough.

This office is so disorganized. They have wasted hours of my time. I have no faith in them and what happens in the back if the front is so rude and unable to handle simple things like booking appointments. It’s too bad because the vets that I have worked with here do you seem wonderful but they don’t have a support team around them and we all work as part of the team. I will be going back to Berkeley dog and cat hospital even though it is more expensive. I just don’t trust these people with my animal anymore

If I could give more stars I would! I called in to El Cerrito Veterinary Care to get an appointment and spoke with a receptionist who said they didnt have any appt that day but could schedule me for following day. I explained I was a referral from Pet Vet who mentioned they were a new practice and she had heard that they had lots of diagnostic equipment like a Surgery Area, Xray and MRI machine etc. and that they were reasonable in fees and customers were highly pleased with services they provided. I explained the Pet Vet Veterinarian had told me there would-be no-good outcome as my cat Layla was in a critical condition and whatever was the cause it would be life threatening. I got a call about an hour later saying we need to see her today! (after the receptionist explained to the vet my request to see them asap) could you come at the end of the day around 7 pm as our Vet understands your cat Layla needs to be seen immediately. My appt was delayed as several surgeries were just completed and instructions had to be given to the recovering dogs caregivers. I watched as Heather gave detailed instructions how to manage the after surgery care with each dog patiently answering questions and details caregivers needed to know. I have had 50 years of experience with many vets over the years, but this experience was quite amazing. Heather eventually brought me into a patient room and looked over Layla s condition very gently ... I was quite upset as she told me basically there was no hope for Leyla both options of what was causing the extreme edema were a death sentence. She explained the diagnostic cost and what the two causes she saw were signs of her imminent death. This was the first time I have had a veterinarian not recommend extensive testing: not recommend I spend a large sum on finding out the exact cause of the problem. Not only was she compassionate and kind & extremely gentle handling Leyla & she was also honest and told me the truth there was no hope and no good outcome. She also asked many questions before she concluded and gave me many options... I cant even describe the merciful and compassionate way she handled giving me such bad news but I appreciate her honesty. She gave me her advice and let me decide if I wanted to wait till I had adjusted to the news of Leylas serious condition to make any decisions. I am so impressed with the expertise and kindness I received and I hope their practice thrives as it is rare to find very compassionate thoughtful & kind veterinarian who doesnt recommend spending large fees and testing when it is obvious the outcome would be the same. Thank you all at El Cerrito Veterinary Care! You are the best practice I have had the experience of using in over 50 years of pet care! The many other practices have now become Corporate owned have high fees and always recommend extensive testing and even with cancer recommend extensive treatments to delay your pets demise often with very painful end of life results. You wont get a more kind, humane, compassionate, understanding, thoughtful and responsive practice! We need more of this type of care for all our family. Thank You Heather Kriensky and all at El Cerrito Vet Care JT

They make appointment themself for you.Like I still have an email that says neutered this day, microchip that day..I thought it’s just an email with information. And they call me, and say, you missed your appointment. It’s just funny. And also I had to pick up monthly simparica, they said they cannot provide me service anymore.Even the medicine, they couldn’t provide me..So, good luck, if you missed your appointment once, then that’s it.All about MONEY...

My dog and I had a bad experience at this place. I will not recommend it. My dog was leaping so I made an appointment for her, my roommate took her then the Dr. called me to ask what was wrong with her I explained to him then he asked if she needed nail trimming I said yes and also have her anal glands empty them out . I got home to find out that they didn’t trimmed her nails and they charged me $37 for it. I called back to asked them about and they told me that they don’t do nail trimming there that is not a beauty salon. Please people do you research before trusting your baby’s to any veterinarian .

As a business owner I do not like to do this this but I do NOT recommend this place to anyone who values their pets well-being, their money or their time!!!!I made my dog’s appointment on 10/27 for 11/3 as that was the 1st appointment they had available. This is not her usual vet but I needed her vaccinations and paperwork done as I was getting ready to move out of the country. I was sent a text to confirm the appointment was on 11/3.On 11/3 we arrived 10 minutes early and I was told the appointment was for 11/4!!! When I showed the front desk staff the text I received for 11/3 they said “huh, that’s so weird “ I told them I had come from Oakland, sat in traffic and I was getting ready to move out of the country so, I had appointments of my own scheduled for the next day(one of which was at the same time, paid in advance as well as non refundable for $240) Frustrated as I was I just said “Okay, we’ll be back tomorrow...”I wish I would have just found another vet honestly. I had some car issues the next morning and ended up having to take a Lyft to the appointment in doing so I was about 20 minutes late. I tried to call and give them a heads up and was placed on a long hold. When we arrived the receptionist told me I would need to either wait a while (they didn’t know how long) or reschedule as they were very busy. I understood as I work by appointment in my business as well so, I said “okay” once again. It was about an hour before Dr. Buttar saw my dog. He gave me an attitude and told me that I was late and messed up his schedule. He rushed through the appointment reminding me no less than 3 more times that I was late...After the 3rd time I explained the scheduling error on his offices behalf and that I had to deal with rescheduling issues of my own because of it! That didn’t even seem to register and he continued to rush through the appointment. My dog was really anxious by this time and Dr. Buttar was visibly annoyed. He then decided to take her to the back for one of the oral vaccinations. I explained that she is very vocal (she’s kind of dramatic and loud) and it be would be better if I helped but nope he whisked her off to the back and about 2 minutes later she was screaming like I have never heard her...So much that the other doctor and some staff went running to the back to see what was going on.When she was brought back out she was sneezing and coughing and he told me how difficult she was. Again I told him that! He quickly signed the paperwork and sent us on our way.She sneezed for days if not 2 weeks following the appointment! The kicker here is I was stopped at American Airlines check-in because in his haste he forgot to give her or at least forgot to document her parasite treatment. I’m not really sure! The desk staff explained that she would be quarantined in Mexico because of this and highly recommended NOT letting that happen. They explained that if it was their dog they would not take the risk especially during a pandemicThis negligence left me with 2 options 1. having to repay for my family’s tickets without 21day advance as well as book a hotel for god knows how long OR 2. having to call my friend from the airport and ask her to drop everything and come get my dog AND keep her for a few weeks until I could return. I don’t have the kind of money to rebook multiple or hotel!!! Thankfully my friend is an absolute godsend and came from Alameda to SFO to get her just in time for us to run and catch our flight. We have now gone over a month now without our dog and I have had to take time and resources out of my new life to book another round trip amidst a pandemic just because I chose this office...Also got a message from home 2 weeks ago that my dog sneezed and yelped for 5 minutes straight afterward. Again my friend is an absolute angel and was kind enough to take her to her regular vet and get her treated properly. It turns out she has an infection most likely due to the vaccine going up her nose at her visit at this office although I cannot confirm that part. Stay away!!!

Awesome! Best dog veterinarian in town. I didnt know this kind still existed. Just like they say Quality Care At Reasonable Prices. Care was awesome and Prices are definitely reasonable (Not Cheap) for Bay area, but were definitely less than what I used to pay my previous vets. I like reasonable because I understand you cannot provide good quality care at cheap prices and I want good care for my fur babies.Great experience, loved them!!!

My neighbors French bulldog got ahold of a fishing hook and it got stuck in his mouth :( I started calling around and was panicked because it was almost 6pm and the few places I called before were not helpful and would not take a new pet. When I called el Cerrito veterinary care Lexy answered and was so calm and helpful. She said it was late and they were going to close soon but she would ask the doctor. The doctor Heather said she would see yodi and asked us to get there ASAP. Heather was amazing she explained what was the best process to remove the hook and assured us that he was in good hands. While I sat in the waiting area for yodi Lexy was cleaning up around the clinic and I appreciate how clean everything was especially with covid. Heather finished the procedure within 30 min. Lexi explained what to expect after care and his meds in great detail and also let me know if I had any questions to please call. This clinic is the best thank you heather and Lexi for making a scary situation as calm and painless as possible for yodi and us. We appreciate you beyond words

First time here. This is the kind of vet place I was looking for. I almost wanted to keep them for myself but that would have been selfish. The vet is awesome, I have never seen such a humble, knowledgeable vet. My dog loved him and I do too. The prices are reasonable for Bay Area. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. I just loved it.This is my go to vet from now on!

Be wary, be careful. Only cares about the money. Sells you things you dont need. They dont even know whats wrong but instead of just telling you they dont know, theyll run tests and theyll stick u with 400 bill. Tell you lies! Never going back and will try to tell everyone I know. Cancelled appoint after waiting a week, only to have them schedule me for another week. No way!! I made them find something sooner! Only rescheduled because the doctor said he would give her another antibiotic shot. When I got there, he refused to give her another shot but, needed more test instead. 400 dollars and nothing accomplished, cat still very sick. Not reasonably priced. $
