I agree the gym is well maintained, reasonable price. Only thing I didnt like is they dont give full details when you signing up like no agreement fee, 7 day cancellation...etc. One of the staff member told me to visit later for membership cancellation.... However on an argument decided to do that.

Great gym with lots of facilities and a great environment. The manager was able to set me up with a membership that was perfectly suited for my needs and she was very kind. Id definitely recommend this gym to anyone, especially beginners.

I am considering joining. Price is reasonable. They have a lot of equipment - enough for my needs and I like the shake bar. I am not too crazy about their brand colors - red and yellow. I just wish they would paint the place. (Edison, NJ location) It looks too dreary. I am glad they survived the pandemic though. Still undecided.

The location is well and the gym has its own parking lot. The size is just right. It seems that the cardio machines are a mix of new updated machines as well as updated machines. The ceiling is high up which I like and the air circulation is pretty good. There are gyms which does not have well air circulations which cause people’s doors to stay as well as a muggy smell.

Its a nice gym. They have a lot of equipment and space. Retro fitness could add an extra rack, but overall a good place to work out. Its a pain to cancel a membership though, I had to write a 2 paragraph letter explaining why I had to cancel.

I have visited about 15 area clubs and the Edison location is the best one, in my opinion. Good staff, generally clean with very few occurrences of broken equipment and the members are very respectful towards each other regardless of their current fitness level. This location did an excellent job enforcing all of the covid protocols whereas some of the other places tended to be somewhat lax about that.

I was a happy member before Covid, great classes and reasonable prices $19.99 plus tax monthly. Should not have cancelled. NOW $29.99 plus tax for the same. Pricey 4 me. I toured Esporta for $19.99, many daytime and evening classes sauna, pool. Etc.

I like the environment and then the atmosphere of friendship is all good

Very safe gym. They reopened only when state said they could and I am very appreciative of their following state guidelines during the pandemic. The staff at this Retrofitness are efficient, professional, and ensure that all patrons follow all guidelines. We feel very comfortable exercising there.

I go 4-5 times a week in the morning. There’s never a day when I don’t feel important and that my well-being is at risk. Debbie and Judy ensure that the place is well maintained and sanitary especially during the pandemic. The protocols are always in place and stressed. Best move I made was transferring my membership from Fitness 19.

The Retro in Edison on park ave is hands down the best gym Ive been to, period. Debbie runs clean ship and this was before COVID was even a thing. They have always taken care of everyone and everything in that gym. The #1 reason why Im still a member and no plans on changing gyms.

Typically I’m at the gym 4-5 times a week. Their equipment is always in like new shape. If anything is ever broken or on its way out, they will fix it extremely fast compared to other local retros (makes a big difference). Even before covid, it’s always been very clean. Their staff is great as well. The only thing I wish they had was to extend out their second level to add more things. Otherwise, I don’t have any complaints!

It’s always clean and very spacious. The location/parking space is never an issue. I actually drive further to workout in this location.

95 percent of the time their products are great, talking about shakes,, the gym has a great atmosphere. I visit six times a week

Great customer service, I’ve been a member for a little over a month and I tend to go first thing in the AM and just I think her name is is always very attentive and very personable.. from the time I get there til the time I leave which is usually an hour or a little more I always see her walking around cleaning, making sure things are being ran smoothly, restocking pape towels, the service overall is excellent! I’d deff recommend this location to friends and family!

Absolutely disgusted with the customer service here. We moved in May, sent membership cancellation via certified mail in June, USPS confirmed delivery. Reviewing credit card statement and $68 charge appears randomly this month (October). Disputed with bank, bank recommends calling Retro, woman at Retro was not only nasty but also states “we still haven’t opened all our mail”. USPS confirmed delivery in June, you’re going to tell me you haven’t read your mail from 4 months ago?

The staff at the Edison location are very nice & polite, gym and equipment are always clean. Recommended to my brother and friends ,oh and the shakes are delishhhh

I can not understand why do you keep lying to your customers? Customers are always right, I’ll never come to this gym anymore and they will cut $ 52 from your account and you will not even know about that. If you want to close your membership of the gym, they will still cut $ 52 from your account after few months won’t give you back to you.

Did not want to leave my comments after reading many positive comments. But I could not stop myself after having the same issues with front desk multiple times. The lady (maybe Debbie) at front desk not sure if shes the manager, taking advantage of her position but she need to take training classes how to treat customers, who are paying the monthly payment which generates her paystubs. Shes racial profiling individuals not knowing where theyre from. Not sure if shes on some kind of drugs but this needs to be stopped. Overall gym is good and rest of the staff is super friendly.

Retro Fitness Edison has been a great place for me to workout and stay on target with my fitness goals. The staff are welcoming and always helpful. The facility is ALWAYS clean. There are so many machines. I have never had to wait to use one. They offer so many different classes. Whatever you like to do, there is a class for you. My trainer, Paulette is AMAZING. She is so warm, friendly and fun. I never feel like I am doing the same thing over and over each time I have a session. She is creative with her workouts and is helping me to get strong and toned while making sure that I am not going to get hurt. If you want a clean, friendly gym, Retro Fitness Edison is worth looking into. You will NOT be disappointed.

Been a member since day one. Very well kept with quality equipment to make a serious impact on your physical health and appearance. The members and staff are all very nice. Ive tried several gyms in different price ranges but this place is the best. Simply the best!

Retro Fitness of Edison has been my home gym for about 8 years up until recently I accepted a job down in NC. At the Edison location the staff always made you feel welcomed and the owner was often there getting to know members and making sure everyone had a great experience. This gym has also been one of the cleanest gyms I have been to and I believe they even won an award for it! I would highly recommend everyone to check it out.

The gym is very clean and well attended to. This Retro is almost bigger than my last Retro and has a variety of equipments.

It was a ok gym. However, the machines are close together living little space for social distancing. No sanitizing wipes just paper towels and spray disinfectant. No one really wipes the machines

Extremely clean!! Weights in proper place, locker rooms immaculate, locker doors shut, and clean showers. I have been to many Retros in NJ and this is by far the cleanest with the friendliest staff! Always keeping the place fresh by painting trim, locker rooms, etc. Machines always fixed immediately if any issues. Plenty of updated weight machines and cardio equipment. Gym feels open and not overcrowded at all. Also nice they have a theatre room as many other Retros have been removing them over the years. Plenty of parking and in a great location. Love this gym and awesome staff!

Friendly staff but didnt like how tight it seemed to workout. Not enough space. And not enough different machines.

The facility is spacious, clean, and has high ceilings, and I typically dont have to wait to get on any machine. The staff is friendly and helpful too, especially when I leave my water bottles behind by accident! The locker room is a great size as well with plenty of room to store my stuff when I work out.

I have been going here for almost more than a year. Out of all the places I’ve worked out, I would say this place is my favorite. The employees and trainers are mad chill. The atmosphere is nice and clean. There is a large amount of cardio machines so you can never really not have one. Weight lifting has never been a problem for me as there are enough benches and weights. I highly RECOMMENDthis place to anyone looking to join for the first time !!

Unless you are a gym rat, or need squash courts (or a pool) this place is great. No frills, just a good solid gym experience. Good equipment, clean and great employees.

One of the better Retros in NJ, as well as the East Coast. LARGE. Staff is very very helpful. Classes are great, instructors are knowledgeable. The PT department is a bit ehhh but someone is always willing to help. Parking is rough in the front, but ample to the sides. Its a gym so its good to walk a bit more anyway. The owner, lovely. He even takes some of the classes. Front desk staff, especially the young girl, dark hair, shes a doll. My favorite part..the studio. They have hanging Muay Thai bads. Good ones. I would totally recommend

General manager Debbie is very rude. she no good for customer service,I don’t know how she is surviving in that position. All other staff is real friendly and helping. She don’t want any person for monthly program all of sudden, which they were offering till 30th December . Ruined my day with her attitude.Worst manager ever

I often found la fitness to be over priced and not really worth the money. This place has everything you need at an affordable price with a friendly staff. My only complaint would be not everyone putting their weights back!

This gym is always very clean which is very important. The staff is very friendly and pleasant and the classes are great.As a Retro member I know that you can visit other Retro gyms but I refuse to because they might not live up to the standards of what I am accustomed to in this one.

I don’t know what it is but there is some kind of smell when you walk in the front door, the bathroom was kind of dirty as well. When I was trying to get form to sign up and I was confused the employees didn’t ask to help me at all. I think her name was Debbie she had short red hair. I was asking her how to us one of the cardio machines because I’m new to the gym but she made me feel very uncomfortable it might be because I’m a heaver set person definitely wouldn’t recommend. AND THEY STILL BILLED ME!

I have been a member here since day one. I must say for a minimal expense gym you can’t be the quality. I recently had joined a 140 month gym and yet wasn’t impressed for the price. This gym is still way cleaner, and professionally ran. The owner is on his employees about cleanliness, sometimes to point of annoyance which I guess is a good thing. They have a great boxing room and free weight area to do cross fit. Must say one of the top gyms ever been to and can’t beat the price!

Love this gym! I have been to a few. This was the only franchise gym that wanted me there and wanted me to stay. Everyone at Retro Edison are friendly, courteous, helpful and talkative. The place is clean, bright and not loud. Love this place. I am there everyday. I enjoy my work outs more. I see other members that look like me and struggle like me. Love this place.

This gym has been closing at 11pm and I go in around 945 to be told they now close at 10pm. Super inconveniencing, cancelling membership asap

Everything is usually very clean. The people working there are very nice and helpful. My only complaints are that its kinda tight and it smells like spices when you walk in.

Good price for the facilities available. Has plenty of space and exercise equipment available. Not to forget its been kept very neat and tidy. Friendly environment.

Moved out of NJ in June-2018 and reported cancellation of me and my son subscriptions and we both are not in yearly contract, but they canceled only one. And they keep deducting my account Until next year Feb2019 Until I realize that they are continuing my membership even after cancellation. When I called Manager Debbie to report this issue, she was asking me, why Im not checking my bank account for 6 months. ???? Anyway I requested for refund, and she said, they instructed ABC Financial which is processing company to refund. Till today 7th of May2019 after 3 months it is not yet processed. So, I called ABC Financial directly, they say that they dont have any refund request for my account. Called immediately Debbie, this time someone else picks up and says that she will call me back in some time. After 30 mins also I dont get response, then called her back again.. they say that she left for the day. Such a worst management this facility is surviving with. BIG NO to this facility. They just suck your money, even you cancel membership and not in any contract.

Great gym, always clean and inviting, employees are friendly and accommodating. Equipment is kept in repair, showers are clean and water hot. New additions of machines on a regular basis. Definitely worth the price.

This is great place to workout, lots of equipments to choose from. Really like the Zumba classes on mix of English, Spanish and Bollywood songs.

The manager at this place Dom or Tom whatever his name is bald white guy is the rudest and most arrogant person Ive ever seen. Last week the weather was warm so I was riding my motorcycle to the gym. Since their lockers are not big enough to fit a helmet I asked him if it was okay to leave the helmet with them at the front desk and his words were if you are going to bring your motorcycle here everyday Im not going to hold your helmet for you, if you bring it occasionally thats fine, we are not here to cater you. I told him if the lockers would fit a helmet I wouldnt have asked you to keep it here and he says go find a solution, maybe you could just keep it in the locker room somewhere. My question is what if a person doesnt have car and only has a motorcycle? What if someone steals the helmet if I leave it outside? Are you going to buy me a new helmet?Next I told him its not my fault your lockers dont fit a helmet so you give me a solution and he goes dont bring your motorcycle here. I told him maybe Ill have to cancel my membership then and he goes okay thats fine if you want to cancel your membership over this. Wow Great customer service there buddy. Then I told him okay Ill talk to the owner of this gym and I went to the locker room.NOW ALL OF THIS WASNT ENOUGH FOR HIM. HERE COMES MORENOW THIS GUY WHO IS THE MANAGER OF THE GYM. LOL MANAGER???? Signed up last night, Mike was very friendly and gave me the tour, the owner was there as well and friendly and made sure I got the deal that is currently running, and explained the FIIT classes. Cant wait to get to some Zumba and spinning.

Great machines, many classes to choose from, and personal trainers available. Movie theatre is also very nice, but the gym has a noticable smell and stagnant air--moreso than most gyms.

I’m Elmira Higoy and I really loved this gym! Owner is very approachable. Front desk staff is very accommodating and always smiling! The FIIT classes are definitely enjoyable but challenging!! Trainers led by Ron Tucker are very motivating and very knowledgeable with fitness! Place is very clean! Cardio cinema is sooo cool 😎. The fitness classes like Zumba etc are free! And most of all very affordable membership ! The best fitness place!!!

Fraudulent practices!! They promote/advertise offers and then find loopholes to not fulfill it. Their solo goal is to make customer pay more. Avoid this gym at all costs

I joined here about 6 months ago (after belonging to a smaller gym right down the road) and this was the best decision I ever made. Besides the fact that its only $23/month (after taxes) this place has great hours (5am-11pm weekdays and 7am-7pm weekends), a TON of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment (all with personal TVs) and a cardio theater if you want to watch the movie of the day on a big screen. Im an early morning gym goer so there is never an issue with it being too crowded. The few times I have gone on the weekends, I noticed it does get really crowded, but I think all gyms are going to be like that.The only negative (and I dont blame Retro for this) is that there is some type of odor that hits you in the face as soon as you walk in. I think the building used to be some kind of factory before Retro took over the space. I dont know exactly what was made there, but whatever it was it has seeped into the walls and cant go away. After a few minutes though, I dont even notice it. None the less, its not a deal breaker for me because everything else about the facility is great. But you will notice it the first time you walk in.Overall, I love this gym and am really happy I decided to switch to Retro.

The owner (or someone) filters only on positive reviews on YELP so I figured I would post here. I went in one day because my husband goes there on one of his off days. The girl who opens let one member in but locks the door on everyone else. I was half way out of my car figuring she would let everyone in and was locked out like some sort of criminal. Found out later (evident by them kissing while she is WORKING) that they are evidently dating. Call me crazy but this isnt high school...you can live without your boyfriend being there.Tried to order a shake after my workout but her bf would not move out of the way so I left and just went home without. Bottom line, go to the one in Piscataway if you dont want to deal with high school antics.

I had called up this plce and they told me my renewal is in march and then when i called up in feb, they say its already renewed and to cancel the same , i have to give 60 days notice.. This is pathetic... they do everything to get you enrolled and when u want to go out they do cheap stuff like this... Cant believe it.. please anyone taking membership BEWARE !! havent used this gym in the last 1 yr but i dont like this way...

This is the better Retro and Ive been to them all from woodbridge to matawan.Its newer and bigger..only downside is its next to a spice factory so the smell lingers on your clothes but at least it doesnt smell badUPDATE: spice smell is gone!

This Gym has Personal Trainers and good equipment but the scale that is provided for members is an old broken scale that belongs in the trash. Spend some of your money and buy two Doctor office type scales for your members.
