Dr. Alva is thorough, detail oriented and generous with his time and knowledge. He presents treatment without pressure and is available to answer questions along the way. My gastroenterologist referred me to Dr. Alva after a diverticular episode. He insisted on viewing the CT scan himself in order to make a determination, giving me literature on the pros, cons and considerations regarding this particular surgery. I am happy to have found a board certified surgeon who actually LISTENS. Dr. Alva is personable, professional and knowledgeable; glad to have found a surgeon who I can place my trust in.

Problem after problem. Scheduled colonoscopy for Tuesday...Monday came around and I had still not received ANY instructions. I bought the prep and everything, and ended up not going because I was too afraid that something else would go wrong. To be honest, I know that there are great reviews on here but I would not recommend because it has been nothing but problems for me.
