I don’t often give 1-star reviews, but in this case it’s unfortunately warranted.I have two children who worked with Lindsey Johnson. The therapy was to help them deal with anxiety during an unwanted divorce. When I wasn’t present at the therapy, my wife fed stories to Ms. Johnson trying to allege abuse on two occasions. Being a mandatory reporter, she passed the allegations along to the state. That’s her job. However, it’s also her job to understand what’s really happening in the family in order to counsel our children well. Neither instance of abuse was true, which was confirmed by the state. She reported both on very weak evidence (testimony from an angry mother and a bruise the size of a dime on my 2-yr-old’s leg). She also did not contact me personally about either accusation. Wouldn’t a good child psychologist want both parents involved in therapy to the fullest extent possible?Even if I dismiss this issue, I noticed my oldest showing signs of increased anger and acting out. After I witnessed her kicking something in a store and later punching her pillow, I probed. It turns out Ms. Johnson was encouraging her to act out her aggression by “punching a pillow.”Any neuroscientist will tell you, the more you do something, the stronger that neuropathway becomes. If you want it to become easier to act on your aggression, start punching a pillow. It will later become another object, and then an animal, and then a person. This method was dispelled as regressive in the 80s.When I asked Ms. Johnson about it and suggested this methodology of coaching was dangerous, she became very hostile. That’s not the sign of a well-trained therapist. It seems Ms. Johnson has trouble doing the very thing for which she is supposed to offer counsel.Sadly, the director of the clinic offered little help in this matter.I would STRONGLY suggest you look elsewhere for a licensed practitioner who uses PROVEN methodologies to coach, especially if it involves children. It seems many other have had similar experiences. I would have done well to heed their warnings.

Horrible. Do not go here for help for your child if they are being mistreated by the other parent. They discounted and downplayed the mistreatment of our child, sided with the perpetrator, and started to blame our child until I put a stop to it. They believed the lies of the perpetrator and were easily manipulated by them. They failed to focus on the needs of our child and tried to find faults within our child that may have justified the mistreatment. They tried to find fault with me for not asking for the mistreatment to stop in the right way and insinuating that I was exaggerating. In the end the other parent was not held accountable in any way and our child is left in a more vulnerable position. Our child was almost revictimized by a professional by being blamed for the mistreatment. Again, horrible. I hope no other parents in a similar situation go here because your children will be further harmed instead of helped, and you will be left in a worse place than before you went because of the distress of experiencing a family professional completely failing your child and essentially perpetuating the ongoing mistreatment of them.

We have had them for years, at first a high turnover in therapists (not good for my kids with attachment issues) but lately we have 3 for 4 kids, they’ve been with us for a while, work as a team & flexible with our crazy schedule. Seen great improvements this last year...
