Very happy with Dr. Yusif. However, very ticked off with the rescheduled appointment charge. Three days before my procedure, I called the office to inform them that I had two possible exposures to COVID. They did not return my phone call. I then checked with the hospital and staff there decided that it would be appropriate and in the best interest of all concerned, to reschedule. Then, I got a bill for $50. The billing department just kept saying it is their policy and if I had actually had COVID, then I might not have received a bill. Yet, their website says to contact them if you have been exposed. I guess you cant win. Appears to be a money hungry practice.

Its going on three weeks to even get a confirmation that my referral has been received. I have proof my primary care office sent the referral 3 times, and the unfriendly front desk worker rudely keeps telling me they dont have it, and did not even attempt to look further and double check. My primary care office states the referral has been sent, and they seem to get many calls back from patients and think the office receives too many referrals and simply tells patients they dont have it.Update: my provider sent the office my referral additional times to a different fax and I called once again, and they still dont have it, they dont even look, they simply say “ya both fax machines have been busy lately we dont have it” and thats it. I received silence after I stated Ive been trying to get this referral to you, and nobody can help me. I have moved on to trying to get an apt with another providers office. As a public servant who works with customers daily, Im disgusted by the customer service of this office.

Waited months to have my appointment to have it canceled two days prior due to the doctor being out. Went to reschedule and told they have no appointments available for the next few months ans that I would have to call back in a few weeks to see if they opened their schedule further. I explained that I had already waited months and had my appointment canceled on me and she said well then call your primary care and get a referral somewhere else.... Worst customer service Ive ever received.

Good luck actually speaking to a live person. Ive been trying to have a procedure scheduled for my mother. Their messages say to give them 24 hours to call you back but I left my 3rd message this morning. I understand times are crazy right now, but this particular procedure should have been scheduled by their staff already - instead I have to leave message upon message without any sort of call back. Really disappointing to see the way this practice has gone to hell.Their website states that Patient care is our priority, Our goal is to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to our patients. We strive to be efficient and cost-effective without compromising the quality of care of our patients, and Our achievements are attributed to our well-trained, professional, and compassionate staff and our continued success will be dependent on the continued excellence of our staff members. I have yet to see the compassionate care or staff excellence.Id think twice about using MGI. From a lot of other reviews, the receptionist is the center of the bad reviews. Wonder if the state has a place to file a formal complaint about her bad behavior. Im sure LARA would love to hear about the behavior of the PAs and doctors....

Be very careful which doctor and PA you see. Some of the PAs will blow off your symptoms and tell you nothing is wrong and will only do testing if you ask for it repeatedly. They will not call you with the results like they say they will and they NEVER call to schedule the appointments they say they will. You will have to stay on them constantly. They ignored major markers for negative health in my blood work for years on blood tests they ordered and it wasnt until I saw another specialist that I was referred to have these issues dealt with. Go somewhere else. Once I have recovered, I will be going somewhere else too, I dont care how many hours I have to drive.

I will drive any distance to go to any doctor(s) to avoid MGI. I first saw Dr. Rose in February 2021 based on a referral from my doctor. He did a colonoscopy. When we talked before the procedure he didn’t even remember that I was there for a specific reason, not routine. His report didn’t include known information that was seen or even the information that he showed in the pictures. Since he “didn’t find a cause” he just let it go without seeking a reason for my problem. After a few months of getting worse I called to make an appointment and only got an appointment without waiting months because of another referral from my doctor. This appointment was with Jonathan Thelen, a PA in the office. I specifically requested a CT, which he denied wanting to do other testing. After another month and these tests showing nothing, I went to ER because I was in so much pain. They did the CT scan, which showed the problem. If he had done the test when I requested it we would have known a month earlier. Jonathan told me the same thing that ER did and ordered an EGD (at my request) a month away. A week later I was back in ER because I was getting worse. They did another CT which showed change in only a week. I was admitted to the hospital. Dr. Plaehn was called in to do the EGD the next day. He spoke with my sister and me before the procedure and told us he would talk to us both after. He did not talk with either of us. I even requested to speak with him and he never came and talked to me. Worse yet, the note he made blamed pepto bismol. I don’t know where he got that since I rarely use pepto bismol (which I told Jonathan at the last appointment). It seems to me that they are so big that they don’t take the time or care with patients. I was just another patient to push through the door. Closing note; I am having surgery in a few weeks to fix the problems that MGI said I did not have.

I have had an ongoing problem with my intestines, and was sent to this Institute on January 7, 2021.I saw Dr. Dana Stewart. Had a colonoscopy and Endoscopy on Feb 2. Dr. Stewart put me on BUDESONIDE to help reduce the inflammation in my colon. It started to work almost immediately. This med has to be taken in a particular manner. I was doing that correctly but I noticed in the 7th week that my initial problem was returning as the dosage of my med was decreased. I was having real problems with diarrhea over the weekend of March 27 and 28. So I called Michigan Gastroenterology on Monday, March 29 at exactly 8:30 a.m. Because I had talked to Kelly at ext 306 before, I dialed her extension. I left a message that I needed some help and she called me back within the hour. She listened to my problem and said she would let Dr. Stewart know that I was thinking I might need a refill of the prescription for the Budesonide . I relaxed and waited for a call back. The whole day went by with no response. I am by then really not feeling good because of the continuous diarrhea . I called Kelly again on Tuesday, March 30 and left another voice mail . I waited ALL day again with no response. I called the front desk on Wednesday March 31, at 8:30 am. The receptionist said if I had left a message with Kelly that I would get a response plus the receptionist then said that Dr. Stewart was not in today and I should call back on Thursday. Remember I am having out of control diarrhea all this time. On Thursday, I called the front desk again and listened to the options. It said to push #3 to talk to an assistant, the person who answered was Linda. She heard my whole story and said that computers were down but she would get my message to Dr. Stewart as soon as the computers were back up. I also told her that this was the 4th day that I had tried to get someone to help me. I called the front desk again Thursday at 4:00pm. A guy answered and I asked for Linda. He said she had gone home and he could not get anyone because the computers were still down. On Friday, April 2, I called at 8:50am thinking that I wanted to give them another chance. I happened to get Linda again. She said she was so sorry but she would put an ASAP on the message and Dr. Stewarts nurse would call me right back. I reminded Linda that today is Friday and I cant go through the weekend in this condition Linda assured me she would take care of this. The end of this very sad story ends with the nurse calling me at 4:30 pm on Friday and Dr Stewart calling at the same time. Dr Stewarts voice mail said that she had just gotten my message and she was sending in a prescription for more Budesonide and to take 3 tabs a day for a month. Today is April 5 and I am already feeling better. But, I feel like I lost a whole week. I am happy with my doctor but what happened on Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the office staff? I will certainly never trust them for anything again.

My first visit to MGI, I had to wait an hour and a half after my appointment was scheduled to start. During this wait, I witnessed at least one of the office staff remove their mask for a multiple minute period of time during a global pandemic. After that, I decided to do telemed-only appointments. There is apparently a huge demand for telemed-only appointments, because each time I have requested one Ive been booked over a month into the future. I was scheduled to have a telemed appointment on April 1st, but due to some sort of computer failures on their part I was called the morning of April 1st and the appointment was cancelled. The earliest they could get me in again? May 3rd. They had plenty of in-person opportunities they could have gotten me in for.According to the people I have spoken to, they are only doing 3 telemed appointments per day. My question is, if they have all of these open in-person appointments, and theyre fully booked for over a month on their telemed appointments, why dont they increase the number of their telemed appointments? The answer, according to MGI themselves, is because the doctors dont make as much money from telemed appointments, so they dont like doing them. This is absolutely disgusting. As soon as the current issue that I am seeing MGI for is resolved, I will not be doing business with them again, and in the full month that will elapse between now and my visit that was rescheduled because of THEIR error, I will be looking for another doctor that may be more interested in helping me rather than calculating what the best money-making appointment is during a global pandemic.

Dr. Ahmad and the PAs were great, and attentive and caring. However, I received a colonoscopy and while I had a polyp removed, all of my hemorrhoids were left. So my bleeding remains unresolved. Additionally, the office staff and policies are outdated and have no idea how to do conflict resolution. If you are upset, they will keep repeating the same thing to you over and over again, as if that will solve the problem. Always bring your insurance card to every appointment, if you don’t have one, you will need to go to staples and print off multiple copies to bring to each appointment. I gave them my insurance cards, and then arrived at my next appointment without and was told that while my insurance card was in the system, and they could see all my insurance information, that they had to cancel my appointment on the spot. I asked if I could email them the copy of my insurance cards i have on my phone, however, they have no email and offered no other solution besides canceling my appointment. When I was upset, they brought one person to repeat themselves, and a third to repeat the exact same things. Over and over again. Was it not possible to fax? Was it not possible to email it to someone in the office so they too could print it off like I do at staples? Very outdated, no conflict resolution or conflict management. A lack of empathy for how much pain I am in and distress I am. Or how early I had to wake up for my appointment. Or the months I waited for this appointment. How I received a colonoscopy but never received a phone call about details of results or what to do next, I had to check the notes on the portal. The only “I’m sorry” I heard was on a phone call I made to the receptionists, after I left after severe frustration, because I am sick of being in pain and suffering. I was offered an appointment in JUNE and it is March. Keep in mind, once again, I am suffering and in pain and bleeding from hemorrhoids that could have been removed during my colonoscopy. But was told by the doctor after the colonoscopy that they didn’t look concerning to him, so he left them. I was hoping today for answers, but now I am stuck with a rescheduled appointment with a PA, not my doctor, for late April. And once again, there was no compassion from the front desk about my situation. Just rudely told I had been sent a notice that I needed to present my insurance card or copy of it or my next appointment would be canceled (back in November). So I come to my appointment in January, hand them copies and assume I’ll be fine after this. Only to show up to my appointment in March and have it canceled on the spot because I didn’t have a copy of my insurance card on the spot. Even though I wa a never told that I would have to go to staples and bring a copy for each appointment. When every doctors office I’ve ever been to only needs to copy your insurance once unless it changes. They want to do this every single time. I heard “unfortunately you have to have ID and insurance card before appointment” about 10 times from three different people in person. As if repeating the same thing over and over again resolves the situation. There were options, like sending an email and having them print it off, fax, or just letting me see my doctor and running and getting a copy of my insurance after the appointment. No conflict resolution skills. I even ask nicely at first if I could please just see my doctor, but once again was met with a new person, and this is just was more and more frustrating. No. Compassion. The doctors in the office might be compassionate and good, but the doctor who did my colonoscopy did not take of issues he could have, and the office is outdated. Like it’s the 90s in there. Do not ignore the reviews. Go somewhere else. I am currently hoping for a referral to another GI practice from my primary care doctor so that I can receive proper care, and compassion. And actually get my hemorrhoids removed.

Worst customer service ever! Called in for an appointment and they were able to get me in the same day. I explained I didnt have my new insurance card and they assured me it would be okay. When I arrived, I was questioned rudely by Linda and Teresa. They made me feel like a criminal! It was an awful experience! They first told me that next time I needed to bring my card then they told me that they looked me up and that I didnt have insurance. I left without being seen.

Worst customer service I’ve received. Firstly, I went in with symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal cramps, body aches, and shortness of breath that had sent me to the ER twice. My liver enzymes were elevated, and growing with every blood test. Dr. Masoon simply told me to take a laxative for a couple weeks and then we’ll go from there. She later called to say due to my liver enzymes being elevated they’re sending me for more blood work. Fast forward to my diagnosisFor instance they couldn’t get through to my voicemail so they called me and all of my emergency contacts and my doctors office numerous times. When I finally made contact with the nurse, Melissa she was very rude about her not being able to leave a voicemail and I explained to her that I’m at work and even if she left a voicemail I wouldn’t be able to call back until after.Melissa went on to explain that I contracted a virus that’s way out of their control and they’re sending me to CDC. Melissa did NOT explain ANYTHING about what the virus was or how it would effect me. She just said the cdc would contact me in a week. This left me very upset because I’m left to google all of my answers unsure if something is seriously wrong with me or how to protect my family from it. I asked her about the other tests results that tested positive for a possible autoimmune disorder in my liver and she says “Well we don’t have those test results yet but you need to take care of your virus first and idk if there’s anything else we can do for you here”. I just felt completely defeated and like I had NO support at all.

I can say that the referral staff- particularity Sal, is hands down the most amazing, effective, and kind person that I have ever worked with from a physicians office. She went above and beyond to help us get referrals to U of M and to the Cleveland Clinic. She followed up with me innumerable times, keeping me informed at every step in a way until we got our appointments. I honestly dont know what we would have done without her. She is literally the best!!!

I have had 2 different doctors from this practice prescribed me medications that directly contradict my medical issues. First a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) was prescribed before endoscopy; glad I didn’t take it as the scope was clear and the PPI would have really messed up my perfect stomach. Next doctor prescribed a medication for constipation, which I do not have. This set off my IBS-D horribly. Then post endoscopy, instead of addressing my gut issues, she wanted to give me antidepressants. I said no thank you to all 3 prescriptions. Be your own best advocate!! These doctors are clearly NOT reviewing your chart before they meet with you. This female doctor (Dana Stewart) didn’t even update my family member after my colonoscopy, where ore-cancerous growths were removed, again. The nurses stated she had an extremely full day, due to only working 4 days a week. Lack of time equals lack of care. If your ok with assembly line gastroenterology, this is your practice. If you’re looking for a helpful, attentive and compassionate doctor, keep looking. You won’t find those attributes at MGI. I fired them and will find a better doctor to do my repeat, every 5 years, colonoscopy.

Do not go to this place. Save your time and go somewhere else. It is a waste of time because when you get to your appointment they tell you that the doctors are running behind and they reschedule you. They do not bother to call you on the phone to tell you that they’re going to reschedule you, you just show up and then they tell you. Also, the paperwork they give you has the wrong address on it and for the most part everybody that works in the office is just plain rude. I’ve never dealt with such unprofessional people before.

I have never been so upset with a medical office as I am with MGI. I had a morning appointment and the night before I called and left a VM to cancel it. I received a $25 bill because of it. I called and explained my illness was that I was in close contact with someone who had Covid and I didnt think I should expose the office, doctors or other patients.. I was told Its our policy that you have to cancel within 24 hours and in the recording you didnt say it was because of Covid. So, I should have shown up anyway?? Really??This isnt the first time this office has over charged my husband or myself for co-pays either.. Not just for canceled appointments, but yes, co-pays!One time I was told I over-paid on my co-pay at my last visit so not to pay at this visit. Wonderful, I thought...wishful thinking! Not only did I get a bill for the co-pay, BUT they charged me an extra $10 for not paying my co-pay at that visit!Be careful if you go here that you watch your wallet and you might run into someone very sick or perhaps has Covid as they dont want to be charged to cancel!! Good Luck!

I wish there was a way to give zero stars. The customer service is HORRIBLE. Everything with them is relaxed. They don’t care how much pain and discomfort you are in they take their sweet sweet time attending to you. My doctors office sent over the referral. I was then told it could take two weeks before they even call me to setup the appointment. I am an Executive Secretary, I can guarantee that it does not take 14 days to look at a calendar to create an appointment. Finally get in to see a doctor, have a procedure done and test results have been sitting in the computer for at least 5 days now waiting on the doctor to read them so I finally call and was told it can take up to another 10 days before he has time to review the results. Meanwhile I’m in pain and my stomach is doing flip flops, can’t hold food in and its too darn hot to be this darn miserable yet these people need 14 days for every single task even though there was at least 15 people working in that office....

I asked to speak to a nurse, and she sent me to a medical assistant who then told me the doctor signed off on my daughters test results on the 12th of June .... today is the 23rd of June!!!! She told me results were negative, and that the doctor didn’t have any follow-up advice!!!???? FIRST -I am very upset that the front staff LIED to me !!SECOND- If they had test results on the 12th and the doctor signed off why wasn’t ANYONE TOLD !!THIRD- The medical assistant acted like she was very bothered .. even though I called right at 8:30 am! Should have read the reviews before. Giving an extra star (2) because the doctor himself was great. However the billing department is terrible and uncooperative. Got billed the full amount for a preventative procedure. After several calls after getting the huge bill, I finally found out it was because I checked the wrong box on a form and they billed it as a non-preventative procedure. They would not change it, even though they must have known exactly what was going on. And I had even asked them BEFORE the procedure and they acted like I was crazy for asking. None of the other providers had this issue. (hospital, lab, anesthesiologist) Refused to do anything about it even after I contacted the insurance company and they even recommended the office change the procedure code. I would recommend a doc associated with another office because these guys apparently could care less how their staff treats their clients.

Overall, had a really wonderful experience with MGI. Had some initial challenges with wait time, but dont let that deter you. I worked with both Lindsay Mohrhardt (DO) and Don Laird (PA-C), who were both great. Im not exaggerating when I say that Don is the most caring medical professional Ive EVER seen. He took his time helping me figure out an unusual possible diagnosis that no other doctor has been able to bring to my attention. I feel like its meaningful to point out that when I met with him I said, I know this probably sounds like it could be stress or anxiety related, but I just know that its more than that. And he believed me! If youre someone who has had health challenges blamed solely on anxiety before, you know how incredible this is.Don and Sal (the referral coordinator) helped connect me with neurologists in Chicago. Sal even followed-up on my behalf more than once to make sure I got the soonest available appointment in an office scheduling months out. The bar is now set incredibly high for any medical offices I work with in the future -- this team is now my gold standard!

Several horrible experiences with MGI in office, on phone and today in the hospital when we waited 7 hours for 60 seconds with their attending. Couldn’t be bothered to even play Doctor, simply read off chart, was clearly agitated with any questions or inquiry regarding a testing/treatment plan. Essentially told us that anything we asked was another Dr.’s problem. Completely worthless consultation except to raise blood pressure and infuriate that we waited so long to be treated arrogantly by someone who clearly felt his time and talents were above a patient who collapsed in excruciating pain, numbness, tingling and dangerously high BP not 24 hours prior. Absolutely appalling.

I would rather deal with my issue on my own than to ever step foot in that office again. Was told that by the pa that he really didnt want to do a procedure because he knew it would be normal but he guessed he would do it anyway. Then the scheduler wasnt concerned when I told her I cant go a day and a half without eating or I would get a migraine. She wasnt concerned either. Just kept trying to pin me down to a time for something the pa didnt want to do in the first place. Keep clear of this office! If referred ask for a different one. Dont waste your time.

Absolute worst service by doctors and especially office and scheduling staff. If youre not bent over dying, you should go elsewhere. Even if you are, still, go elsewhere. Please do not ignore the reviews like I did. The PA was unprofessional. Told me there was nothing wrong with me, but would do a procedure if I wanted. He clearly had no sense of urgency and wanted the money from the procedure. There are other doctors at this practice, so maybe this one was a dud.As for the office, scheduling, and management staff -- horrible. Absolutely mean, cold, and uncomfortable to deal with. When trying to cancel an appointment (because I was uncomfortable with the doctor), they said theyd have to charge me $75. No questions on why I didnt like the doctor, no offer to making things better, etc. She was condescending and rude. After crying on the phone with her, begging them to just charge my card and remove me from this practice, they called again today to ask if I wanted to reschedule. I politely said no, thank you, only to be answered alright, and a hang up.I reported the clinic to my primary doctor and insurance. My primary doctor has since ceased doing business with this practice as they stated they get complaints about this office multiple times a week.If youre reading these reviews, PLEASE, go elsewhere. Do not make the mistake I did by ignoring what people are saying.
