I have had four babies at four different locations over the years. Boise River Birth Center by far has been the absolute best! I would definitely recommend them. Each and every one of the midwives are very knowledgeable, kind, and caring. I usually have very rough pregnancies but with the knowledge and care of the midwives here my pregnancy went so much smoother than with my other three. This has seriously been the very best prenatal and birthing experience. I’m so grateful that I chose to go with them for my fourth babe. If you choose Boise River Birth Center you will not be disappointed!

Yes!!! I have had two children with these lovey ladies. I had a son June of 2018 and a daughter March of 2021. I loved the care I received. All of the women help you feel confident and are really nice to just sit and talk with on those crazy hormone days. They had very good advice and were able to help me with all the uncomfortable things that come with pregnancy. I felt very safe with all of the women. I am grateful I found these fantastic women and will keep using them. Thanks for helping me with my babies!

These midwives were wonderful. After having three hospital births, I chose Boise River Birth Center for my fourth pregnancy and delivery, and it was the best prenatal care and delivery experience Ive had. They always informed me of various options for care and let me choose what I thought was best. I felt that I was in control and that they were there to support me. Each women in this practice sincerely cares for their clients. I was warmly welcomed into their practice with biscotti and a cozy atmosphere. It felt like being welcomed into a family. The midwives and students are careful to use evidence based practices and build a relationship with each client to understand how to best serve each individual. I have had two hospital births and had my third baby at home with these midwives. It was the absolute best experience. They were incredibly hands off and listened to whatever I wanted while at the same time being attentive to both my health and my baby’s health. I would recommend them to any women who wants a provider who will listen to them, take the time to know them, and give individualized care.

As a first time mom doing this for the first time they settled all my fears and nerves that I had about the whole pregnancy and birthing process. I felt so welcomed and really cared for. They gave me the confidence and education that I needed to do a natural birth. They really made me feel prepared and were/ still always there to answer any questions or concerns that I had/have. I would do Boise River Birth Center again for I fell in love with the place and the people here.

My experience with the Boise River Birth Center was so amazing I dont even know where to begin. The midwives were all so kind and patient from the prenatal to post natal appointments, and of course through the birth in between! I was expecting maybe 10-15 mins max for the prenatals, but they blocked out a full hour for each appointment. They answered all my questions and gave me lots of helpful information from pain management techniques to tips on cloth diapering (which I am loving!) They even did a hands on breastfeeding class at the end of one of my prenatals and helped me get started after giving birth as well. But most of all, they took the time to get to know me so by the time I had my baby I knew I was in good hands and felt comfortable enough to relax and let nature take its course. Even the suturing was a good experience--Tracy and Karissa were such a good team. I seriously cannot recommend these ladies enough, and am so glad I found them. I will definitely be back for any future pregnancies.

The prenatal, birth, and postpartum care we received at Boise River Birth Center was amazing. All the midwives and students are thorough and friendly, and we really felt like we got personalized care. Each visit provides adequate time for personalized attention and time to discuss plenty of questions. The education at each prenatal visit made us feel empowered and comfortable with the process, and the midwives did an amazing job of providing evidence-based care and information in an easy-to-understand way. As someone in the medical field myself, I have total confidence in their ability to provide safe and quality care. Our family is so grateful for the wonderful ladies of Boise River Birth Center!

I would definitely recommend Boise River birth center! I had my fourth baby there about 2 months ago. Tracy and Kellie are kind, knowledgeable, easy going, informative and honest. They train their student midwives in a similar fashion so the care is seamless. I could call or text with questions or concerns at any time and they always treated me with respect and gave me the time and attention I needed. I sometimes forgot they had other clients! They support informed consent and provide you will all the information and then support your decisions. Throughout my pregnancy they made sure my baby and I were safe and always listened and eased concerns. During labor they showed me great support, care and encouragement. They listened and supported me in a way that I will be forever grateful. They showed immense kindness through the woes of postpartum life and were always just a phone call away. They supported us through it all. I would recommend Tracy and Kellie and any student midwives they train at Boise River.

I had a wonderful experience with Boise River Birth Center. Monthly/weekly visits were not rushed. There was always time to discuss all of my concerns and have all of my questions answered. I appreciate the approach of taking care of the woman and the baby, not just doing whats best for the baby and the practitioners. I chose to give birth at the center and was not disappointed. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. I would chose to work with this group again.

I had four babies prior to coming to the birth center. My fourth was a c-section. I wanted a more natural environment to welcome my fifth child into the world. My husband and I toured the birth centers in the area and this one was the last on our list. As soon as I drove up, I knew it was going to be the perfect place for me. I continued to feel that peace upon touring the facility and meeting the staff and midwives. My pregnancy brought a lot of false alarms, which were handled with such love, encouragement, and attentiveness from the midwives. I was admitted to the hospital twice with contractions before 36 weeks and the midwives were fantastic with keeping in touch with me to make sure I was doing okay. (This was before Charlotte had access to the hospital. Now it is that much better for patients with similar situations!) I ended up making it longer than any other pregnancy Ive had and was able to have a successful birth at the birth center at 38 weeks.I truly feel blessed to have been able to deliver my baby in a place surrounded with lovely women who go above and beyond for their clients. I very highly recommend this clinic to everyone!

My husband and I chose the midwives at Boise River for our first baby because of the excellent care we received from the start. Tracy, Kellie, and students Carissa and Ashley were both informative and respectful of the choices we made for myself and our baby during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. They stayed for late appointments so that my husband could attend them. The classes they offer are top notch. Since I am a midwife as well, I think I came with high expectations for the care and information we received. Boise River exceeded my expectations! We have a close relationship even months after the birth, and I still feel I can call them with questions, or drop in to say hello once in a while. They are kind and loving in their approach, without sacrificing professionalism and informed decision making. Thank you, Ladies! You guys are the best! ❤️

I chose the Midwives at River Birth Center for my home birth in Nampa ID. I am SO glad I did! Tracey and Kellie are so warm and welcoming. They truly feel like family, and every appointment is like spending time with my aunts! All 4 of the Midwives are focused on educating and empowering each mother-to-be. Each decision my husband and I made was made confidently with their shared wisdom and evidence based information. They were really respectful of the decisions we made.During labor the midwives were respectful of my laboring space as well. I was able to labor comfortably with no interventions. All fetal heart check and other checks were performed intermittently, in between contractions.I had a water birth in my home and my daughter was able to begin her life in our own arms, in our own bed! It was a truly peaceful way to welcome hey into this world!I hope to stay close to these women who I became so close with during months I was in their care. THIS is what pregnancy and childbirth should be like! I highly recommend them to any woman seeking a positive experience with prenatal care, birth, and postpartum care as well!

I had such an amazing experience at this birth center compared to my first hospital birth. The midwives are all very knowledgeable and completely respect the choices you make for your birth and baby. I always looked forward to going to my apointments. They will never rush you out of an appointment and always take their time in answering all your questions. My birth was so calm and smooth, even though it ended up being pretty fast. The birthing tubs are very comfortable and make it easy for moving around and getting in different positions. I loved that my husband and I got to comfortable hangout in bed with our new baby uninterrupted unless we needed something or had questions. My experience was way better then I ever imagined.Charlotte is so great and helped figure out my undiagnosed thyroid issues that I had been experiencing since I had my first baby. I felt so comfortable with the birth center and staff from the first time I walked in there. I will be going back to them for all of my womens health needs and future pregnancies. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful my experience was at Boise River Birth Center. I just had my 6 week appointment and I’m so sad to be finished with these amazing ladies. Over my pregnancy I got to know Tracey, Karissa, Kellie, And Sarah all very well. I had the opportunity to receive prenatal care from all of these women, which was amazing to hear all their different golden nuggets of knowledge and care. Even being a second time mom, I had many questions. My questions were always answered compassionately, thoroughly, kindly and non-judgementally. When I had concerns about certain things, the midwives would present me with the facts and then let ME decide what was best for my baby and myself. They represent informed consent to an absolute T. Prenatal appointments are an hour long, so not rushed with plenty of time to ask questions. (So different than a hospital OBGYN prenatal appointment). They let me lead the way during my home birth, while always being there for guidance, support and safety. I never questioned the safety of myself or my baby and trusted these women fully. They are so wise, caring and warm hearted. Everything from financial care, to supplement questions/answers, mental health care, general recommendations, birth attendance, post natal visits and care exceeded my expectations. I want everyone to know about Boise River Birth Center!!

We initially had a tough time deciding whether to use the Birth Center or an OB, but Im so glad we made the decision to go with Charlotte!Several aspects of having the baby didnt go as planned (lesson one of parenthood: you are not in control), but throughout pre- and postnatal care, Charlotte has been knowledgeable, available and a perfect support for me and my family.Like other reviewers, I highly recommend the group prenatal classes. It was great to talk with other expecting parents and to spend the extra time at the center. It felt comfortable and familiar, a place Id feel at home when the time came.Unfortunately, our little girl flipped breech after 38 weeks and stubbornly refused to respond to our many efforts to turn her back around. Although I had been really looking forward to enjoying Charlottes expertise and demeanor at the lovely birth center, I was so fortunate to have her help navigating our surgical birth. She helped me make sure I had providers who would help me make the most of a situation that scared the daylights out of me, and Im so grateful.Charlotte was also a huge help when I spiked a fever at 4 weeks postpartum and needed antibiotics. Im so lucky I had her to call instead of relying on my insurances dubious advice line!I have no reservations about recommending Charlotte and the Birth Center, and I look forward to coming back when our family is ready to grow again. We cant thank you enough, Charlotte!

I really, really regret choosing this birth center. I would not recommend this place to anyone, Charlotte Wilkes who was the previous owner is unethical and hard to reach. Their billing company is either not doing their job/horrible or Charlotte is holding on to my money as long as she can. I had my baby six months ago and am owed a substantial amount of money. It is really frustrating getting ignored for this long and having to speak with lawyers about this because obviously we could use OUR money as new, young parents. I am reiterating the review about this place being a dumpster fire and just really want this experience to end, as Charlotte (midwife) was extremely dismissive even while I was in labor (I had to transfer to St Lukes but shouldve just went there in the first place because they were great). Everything seemed fine here until I stopped paying nearly $800/month on self pay and got insurance. Also, since they moved the new employees at the birth center were of no help and said all of my medical records and info left with Charlotte but that turned out to be untrue and it has been SUCH a hassle. We dont know what to do now other than pursue legal action and its the last thing we want to do... SUCH a bummer.

Tracey and Kelly are the kind of midwives that dreams are made of! Compassionate, kind, supportive, and FUNNY. They schedule their prenatal appointments an hour apart so that you have time to discuss your fears, concerns and options. I never felt rushed which meant a lot to me. Your pregnancy and birth are not treated as routine. I felt like they had the wisdom of attending thousands of births but still treated me like my pregnancy and birth were the most special thing they got to be a part of. They have such a balanced view: knowing that birth is a special experience with every possibility of being positive, but being prepared and informed for complications. I was at the birth center for 24 hours with my baby and I never worried about being a burden or an inconvenience. They reassured me over and over that there was nothing wrong with how my body gives birth (it takes its time)I love these women and will never consider different midwives for future pregnancies.

Her nurturing, compassionate personality makes her someone you want to confide in, and her impressive experience in womens health care makes you feel absolutely confident in her abilities as a health care provider.Charlotte aside, the facilities are warm and inviting, the doulas are strong and sensitive; in a broken health care system, the Boise Womens Health and Birth Center is a refreshing example of how things can be made right.

I absolutely loved my experience at the birth center and would recommend anyone considering a natural birth to go to Charlotte. The center itself is very comfortable and made me feel really calm during my birth. Charlotte is an expert Midwife and kept us well informed throughout the pregnancy which gave me a lot of confidence going into the birth of our first child. The birth center offers group sessions at a certain point in your pregnancy in lieu of individual appointments (you still do a solo checkup, but also have a class/Q&A with a larger group) which I would highly recommend all parents take advantage of. There is a chosen topic each week, but you also end up speaking freely about any topic with everyone. Its wonderful because its educational with the info Charlotte is providing, but also because you often dont realize you wondered about topic till another couple brings it up.Not only did I have a great experience during the pregnancy and birth, but my husband did as well. He cant tell people enough how great Charlotte is and how much we enjoyed working with her.

Terrible experience, if you have insurance dont go here. Theyll make you pay then bill your insurance and even if you over pay they wont pay you back. We over payed and only received half our back pay 8 months later. Also those nice rooms you only use for delivery, almost gave birth in the car because Charlotte was too tired to admit us and sent us home, a 3 hour drive round trip. There was no pampering, no bread, and during labor really no support from the staff. As soon as our baby was born she split and left us with a nurse who kicked us out at 4 in the morning... in January, with no go bag. No onsie, nothing for mom and nothing for baby. All in all the place looks really good, the staff were nice till you signed the papers and pay your money. The appointments were great and the midwifes are knowledgeable but where it counts was down right disappointing.

When my husband and I were expecting our first and only child, we had planned on giving birth at the Boise Womens Health and Birth Center, a darling and cozy renovated northend home where everything for a birth was supplied. I think back to the meet-and-greet we had with Charlotte, the owner and primary nurse-midwife there, and I cant help but smile. If I could have fast-forwarded time to see how much I would value and adore this woman and what she brings to our birth story, I would have snatched her up that very minute we met. We interviewed a midwife from another local birth center, but my heart and intuition knew that Charlotte was the perfect match to be our birth support. Her upbeat personality was refreshing, her confidence in her craft was evident, and it was apparent to us that in the unlikely case of an emergency, her ability to be calm but directive would be valuable. Above all else, Charlottes love and appreciation for women, families, and birth filled the room. All of these qualities were so vibrant and permeated through the whole course of our care with her. Over the months, we grew to love and appreciate Charlotte more and more for her passion for the art and science of midwifery. Under her care, we were able to have a peaceful, safe homebirth and an uncomplicated post-partum journey.

After a long time thinking about this, I decided to post this review because I did not have the glowing experiences that everyone else seems to and I think it is worth writing an honest review from someone who did not feel that they received the care she was expecting. It is awkward to write this review because you do develop a relationship with the office, who do monitor these posts. But it has been a year and I have moved away.First off, I did end up having a quick and wonderful birth with a healthy boy and I would highly recommend using midwives and birth centers. In general, I had two main issues with this center. 1. Financial Accounting. 2. Lack of personalized care that sought to understand where I was and work from there.1. It was supposed to be an umbrella fee of 5500 for everything. The part I owed was estimated based on my insurance policy and I had to pay up front. I pre-paid $2925 in January (I gave birth March 2017). According to my records from my insurance company, the birth center billed them a total of 7185.8 of which they paid the birth center 3719.26. It was stated that at the end of the service I would either have to pay them or they would re-imburse me if my deposited amount plus the insurance contribution was greater than the umbrella fee. This means that I overpaid 1144.26!!! The birth center STILL owes me this back a full year later. Despite repeated requests throughout the year I have NEVER seen an invoice from the birth center that details all the costs and they have never acknowledged that they owe me money. The only invoice I have received is a mysterious one for $12 that is now a final notice and may go to collections. The lack of financial accounting transparency makes it hard for me to recommend this to anyone not paying upfront with cash. They also would not lift a finger to help you negotiate insurance.2. I did not feel that my pre-natal care was at all individualized or helped me through my pregnancy. Basically, I had a pretty easy pregnancy and I often did not have any questions at the visits. However, the midwives made little to no effort to find out what I knew already and never asked me probing questing to discover what it was I might need. They often just parroted me information that I already knew. They also often forgot what we discussed the appointment before and repeated information or just simply read me the visit guide info sheets that I had already reviewed. I also had thyroid issues and had to prompt them to look after it. I often felt that they were just parroting information that they were supposed to tell me. My labor cues were also misread and I was not allowed to come into the birth center until I was practically a wild animal hauling myself up the stairs. Honestly, I got all my information and support and knowledge from the internet and the visits provided me with nothing extra. I was hoping that the group classes were going to be good for me to connect with other new parents, but half the time we just sat around awkwardly waiting for something to start. Little effort was made to help the cohort get to know each other or interact.I would like to add as a caveat that I did receive care when the birth center was expanding rapidly and there were a lot of changes in staff, etc. Perhaps some of the issues above have been resolved. However, I still havent received a final invoice or my money back. I dont doubt that many people have had more positive experiences here as the ladies are very friendly. However there may be others who felt the same that I do and are too shy to post when your identity becomes so obvious. I was going to give them three stars, but decided on two because the finance portion was such a mess that I cant really recommend this place to friends.

Charlotte and Emily are both very warm, competent and knowledgeable people - definitely who you want supporting you throughout pregnancy and beyond! They were comfortable offering more natural advice for various issues I encountered along the way in my pregnancy (ex. neti pot during smoke season) to help me and baby stay safe and healthy. The birth center itself is beautiful as well, and honestly the feeling of the building is what initially drew me in when I decided to transfer from another local midwives group - but Charlotte and Emilys fabulous care kept me coming! Also, shoutout to Elisheba - she made me feel so comfortable whenever I came in flustered with my two year old twins, and I really enjoyed talking with her before and after my appointments.

How to put this simply, um, fruad! Yea, that about sums it up.Our insurance DOES covers 100% of my pregnancy but in order to even get started here (which before I went in, I was under the mistaken impression that they were highly recommended. Guess the joke is on me.) We pulled a $300 loan to put as a down payment to get started and it took 2 days to get everything put together, but now that weve had to go to a hospital instead its taking multiple WEEKS not days to get our money back, especially after being told that we would get that $300 back in ONE WEEK, which conveniently the people that have to deal with the money issue are either on vacation or shortly leaving on vacation after being told wed have our money back in A week, not MANY WEEKS LATER.The fact that we paid out of pocket for anything that our insurance was supposed to cover just to get started is called fraudulence and thats illegal. DO NOT GO HERE! unless you want to be told one thing while they do another just to give you the run around.

It is so brave. All of it. Giving birth, of course. But also the pioneering work Boise Womens Heath and Birth center is doing to give the process of birth back to mothers, babies, families. Our son was born here in June. I cant imagine a more respectful, peaceful, easy way to enter the world. I cant imagine feeling safer, more respected, more in-control of our birth process. Birth is a huge and humbling thing. It deserves calm, kind, capable hands. That is what we found here. The team at BWHBC has done a terrific job creating a relaxed, collaborative, supportive atmosphere; one that helps demystify the anxieties that can sometimes attend the specter of pregnancy and birth. The birth center offers a perfect counterpoint to the imprint of every TV show and movie that depicts labor as a harrowing medical/clinical ordeal, involving white coats, cold rooms, a constant parade of nurses, attendants, medical professionals. Here you can find quiet rather than chaos - the center offers an easy, calm, homey, family-centered environment. Our midwives gave us the power to play starring roles in this unique, human rite of passage. I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Charlotte and her team have made a dream come true on the corner of 15th and Franklin. Many dreams. Many. Hopefully yours too!Considering the scope of care provided to mama and baby over the course of pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum, this is one of the most affordable ways to give birth. The location is also prime. We were hoping for an easy natural birth, but we knew that special circumstances were a possibility. With the nearest major hospital less than a mile away, our bases were covered. Luckily our tiny human arrived as we dreamed - quickly, easily, surrounded by love. We were stewarded expertly through his arrival by our midwives. We checked in at 4:30pm, he arrived hours later at 7:35pm. We were home by midnight - a fledgling family together in our nest.I am impossibly fond of this place and its people. Occasionally I find myself going slightly out of my way just to drive by the Center. To peek at the current goings on, to remember fondly our time there. I see it now as a beating heart of a place. A place of profound vision; one that is special and brave. Brave for making a space where women (and their babies/families) are at the center of their birth experience. Brave for creating a new model for inclusive care. Brave for offering a better way to birth.
