100% organic produce with a nice sized selection plus all types of grocery items: frozen, dairy, chicken, steak, fantastic eggs, excellent chocolates, a bulk section with nuts, dried fruit, spices, oatmeal, etc., plus household items, paper plates, detergents, etc., toothpaste, personal items, books, unique greeting cards, a large health and beauty section, not to mention a large supplement section with about every supplement on the planet.

I found a few good deals there like Elderberry lozenges and an Elderberry honey drink. I bought organic ground turkey and grass fed beef to make a meatloaf with and it turned out great! I couldnt find many canned vegetables, though. I was looking for early/young peas. Not many canned veggies but several cans of beans. The Wolfgang Puck soup was expensive but I decided to try it anyway and was disappointed. It only made one small bowl. $2.85 for a tiny bowl. The cashier was nice. The cart attendant was extremely sweet and helpful.

I used to love natural grocers. Sadly, theyve lost my business forever. The way they treat people with disabilities is awful. And the owners need to educate their staff, especially the staff in the Durango store on what it means to be a public accommodation under the laws that govern discrimination against those with disabilities. Privately owned companies who are open to the public are places of public accommodation. If you want to discriminates and enforce tyrannical policies in your stores dont try to pretend youre doing it legally when you know what youre doing is against the law.

I just went in to use the bathroom which was very nice, and then I went to McDonalds. 5 stars.

They force their medical beliefs upon everyone entering the store, and then trespass those that dont comply with their medical demands.

I have been shopping at natural grocers since approximately 2010. I spend over $1000 a month at this grocery store locally and I’m very familiar with the staff and the workers. I went in to exchange a make-up palette I had bought that cost almost $40, I had purchased the wrong shade and did not even open the make up itself. Upon entering the first lady who knows me well said that they can’t accept things without a receipt usually because of theft, which is understandable but given my consistent shopping there they know that I am nowhere near that kind of a customer. So she went and got the manager who then informed me that because of Covid I had to have a receipt to exchange the product to stop the spread of the disease. Given that I had not opened it and how that made no difference in my mind (pre-or post Covid), I wondered if they could possibly look it up under my membership number to allow me to exchange ( the one I accidentally got was a wrong shade). They said they had no capacity to do that and that they would not accept the exchange. I have only exchanged things a few times at natural grocers in all of these years and they have gladly done it without a receipt given how often I am shopping there. I also failed to see how a receipt will stop the spread of Covid -it would have made no difference if I exchanged it with a receipt or without a receipt. Policies before people, and this one makes absolutely no sense. I could see if I was attempting to get money returned to me, but that was not the case at all. Anyway, sadly they have lost my business for good I will no longer shop there.

They always have what we want. And theyre always very helpful when were not sure what we need. Highly recommend

Great place

This is a relatively small store and access into and out of it is a challenge! Parking is very limited and during busy hours the parking lot fills up. Visit off hours if possible. Also be aware there is major construction next door and sometimes this interferes with accessing the store. The store clerks are friendly and very helpful! The location is very convenient for tourists and within walking distance of the major motels and downtown area. I buy a specific supplement there and find the pricing a bit lower compared with the other major health food store in Durango.

I love the place everyone is always so nice BUT........ they truly need a larger store.

They don’t enforce mask wearing. I saw a couple coughing (overheard them telling the cashier that they were visiting from Florida), their kids were literally picking their noses and touching food, and they all (except for the coughing father) had their masks pulled down. The workers told us that there was nothing that they could do about it. Then the workers were rude to us because we said something about it.

Lots of items that you cant find anywhere else around here. Super friendly and courteous employees. The parking is a bit rough, it would be nice if the lot were a little bigger. It doesnt keep me from shopping here though, its worth a little wrangling for a parking space to be able to get the products Natural Grocers offers. 👍

I could get lost in this store :) except the staff is too helpful for anyone to realy feel lost. I stumbled upon this store while in the area to see the national park and I needed some supplements. They have a huge supplements section. I found what I was looking for easily and was asked if had any questions. They have a good selection and fair prices. I went back the next day for groceries and again found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I found some good deals and a nice selection in that department too.

Very helpful staff!

I like the food and staff but my only complaint is in the cat department. Out cats food was suddenly removed from the shelves weeks ago and pets dont enjoy having their diet switched like that, we tried new food that he likes and now I see a couple bags of the old food we used to get back on the shelf. Also there is never cat litter besides the $20 biodegradable litter. Consistency is nice, especially when people care about their pets.

If you havent been here before be prepared to be looking for items for quite a while. The store layout is poor and it is very hard to find something specific.

This place is my favorite. Always a pretty good selection, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. Small enough to not make you feel overwhelmed!

Its a bit expensive but thats what you get for a healthy place. Friendly staff. There are two exceptionally helpful people that are always saying hello and willing to help me find certain things. There names are Elisabeth and Galen. If you run into them they will do what they can to help you out.

Good selection and very reasonably priced organic produce. Otherwise, very limited selection of healthy foods at a highly inflated price. I honestly don’t know why anyone would pay these prices when you can get the same or similar items at Wal-Mart & City Market for much less. Supplements, oils, bath & body, non perishables, etc can be purchased online (iherb, vitacost) w free shipping for a fraction of their price...it’s almost insulting.The reason I am rating them at all is because I paid $6 for a small packet of lunch meat (non-organic) and then saw the same item at City Market for $3 so bought several there & returned the lunch meat to Natural Grocers.The cashier who’s line I graced instantly acted annoyed when I presented my return and before I could even speak or explain he turned from me and questioned his co-worker loudly across a store full of people “do we even take THIS back?” ... after some discussion & an aloud reading of the return policy by his neighboring cashier he finally turned back to me with a twisted face and I told him that my dog was in the car, that I needed to get on my way.He pushed a pen and form at me, not making any eye contact or giving any instructions. I filled it out and watched as he slowly fiddled with the register, asked his co-worker for a merchandise card, eventually tried 2 merchandise cards & finally was brought one by a co-worker that worked. After about 5min of that he finally turned to me, finally acknowledged my presence and handed the card to me, saying nothing. I smiled & said “thank you” and after I’d already began to walk away he snapped “enjoy your day” ... yuck!

Natural Grocers as a chain does have a lot of integrity in the products they carry, which is more than you can say for most stores. But they are pricey, and their rewards system for members only is kind of a joke. They email you offers and coupons now and then, but its not very often for products Id buy. I only shop here for items I cant get anywhere else, like quality vitamins and personal care stuff. The parking situation at this location is absolutely horrible, and there has been more than once that Ive wanted to get something from there, and turned away because there was absolutely nowhere to park, or you had to fight other cars for parking spots. The best time to go there is at night or close to closing time, since you can actually find a parking spot, and it isnt crowded with your typical Durango earth snugglers.

Inexpensive, high quality produce. Generally speaking, fresh, non-processed items are less expensive than City Market, or Albertsons. Offers many sugarless, paleo items. Knowledgeable staff in supplement section.

A little smaller Natty Gs than most, but still had what we needed to restock on our road trip. Brutally small parking lot but managed to maneuver the Sprinter through the gauntlet of Suv,s and extra long Colorado pickup trucks.
