Entire staff is so welcoming, caring and helpful. I Started seeing Dr. Tim about a month ago. I have a lazy eye and my upper cervical gets thrown out of whack from time to time leaving me crippled with stiffness and headaches, which affects my lazy eye. I have suffered from leg pain for nearly 5 years resulting in taking pain killers every day. I have undergone x-rays, MRIs, acupuncture, PT, chiropractic care, and numerous other treatments. I was referred to Atlas Specific by a friend after complaining about neck pain. Upper Cervical care has affected me in only positive ways. I was at my worst emotionally and mentally, and never thought that adjustments to my neck would also adjust my attitude. I was not only enjoying whatever physically prompted my happier mood, but also looking forward to my appointments with an amazing and friendly staff. Physically I feel like a new person. The chronic neck and back pain had gone away, along with other annoyances I never expected. Things like my acid reflex and migraines had completely subsided. I had a great experience at Atlas Specific. Dr. Tim was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to!

Went in initially I had chronic / almost severe pain in my neck. My BP was 210/105 and my A1C was 6.9. 3 weeks later the pain was greatly decreased and manageable (from 8-9 to 2-3). 2 months later my BP was down to normal range (120/78) and my A1C was 4.9. Go figure. All I asked for when I went in was some pain relief. What I got was much more than that. Almost miraculous.

One year ago, I was involved in a car accident in which I suffered a whiplash from a rear end collision. After receiving treatment at the local ER, I was referred to Atlas Specific Chiropractic where I met Dr. Tim Dugas. Immediately, I discovered that Dr. Tim is a very compassionate individual who genuinely cares to improve the lives of his patients (I truly cannot say enough about that). Right after the accident, I was bedridden for about a week and a half with no desire to do anything but stare at the ceiling with cold/hot packs. However, shortly after initializing treatments, Dr. Tim helped me to feel less pain and more mobility in my upper cervical area. Dr. Tim also helped me to keep a positive attitude and through diagnostics, treatments, and recommended exercises, I have improved, specifically in my range of motion (ROM) left and right and my headaches and dizziness is completely alleviated. Pain in my trapezius muscles and C-spine has also improved considerably. Currently I am in what is called the strengthening/maintenance phase of care to know that my atlas/axis region of my spine is maintaining my corrective adjustments and to also to continue to improve. Dr. Tim Dugas has really been helping me and I cannot adequately express my gratitude enough for his expertise and compassionate care in my case. Southwest Colorado is extremely fortunate to have such a qualified physician and I highly recommend Atlas Specific to all who need this type of care.

Migraines are gone! As is lower back pain. Id suffered with both for about 30 years, getting migraines between one and six times each month, which were not always remedied by the prescription migraine pills (that carry their own risks and side effects). With upper cervical manipulation, as well as some terrific holistic care, I not only have those occasional lower back slips/issues and Ive chucked my migraine meds as well. Couldnt be happier. (PS, drinking more water always helps, too! Who knew?) I highly recommend this professional staff for health and wellness.

Dr. Tim Dugas has been my healing angel, not once but twice. April 2018 a friend grabbed me for a hug and then pushed me back after completing her “hug”. I call it the heimlich hug. I felt so great to not have any more neck/shoulder/back pain. Well, as Providence would have it, upon returning home from a vacation in the Yukon I was rear ended at a red light March 14th-not even a month after being healed. Once again the pain of whiplash had returned for the second time. Back to Dr. Tim for treatment. The second time the healing process only took a couple of months. I started seeing Dr. Tim in Denver to address my chronic acid reflux. After my first adjustment, I felt so relaxed that I fell asleep, and I felt mentally clearer than I had in ages.  I didn’t even initially realize that my range of motion in my neck was restricted, but it improved with regular care.  I would and do recommend this specialized type of chiropractic care to others because it was explained so well and it just made sense to me.  It is tough to find chiropractors who practice this way, so when I planned a family trip to Durango, CO I made sure to make an appointment with Dr. Tim while I was in town.

I was diagnosed with cervical dystonia 9 years ago and have been treated by several neurologists. I must say that I felt like a human guinea pig all of that time. Ive suffered through many trials of oral medications, BOTOX injections, and dry needling with very insignificant relief, or intolerable side effects. My quality of life didnt have much quality. The unending painful neck spasms constantly pulled my head into a sideways tilt, so severe at times my head would be forced to lay on my shoulder. The spasms interfered with everything! Sleep was almost nonexistent, walking was difficult with my head tilted over so far, and I had given up on ever having my former ability to enjoy things I wanted and needed to do. The neurologists told me they could offer nothing else but surgically implanting stimulation wires in my brain. WHAT!! Then I found Dr. Tim Dugas at Atlas Specific Upper Cervical Care in March 2020. He was recommended by my husband and friends, all being treated successfully for their disorders. Tim x-rayed my cervical spine and found the 1st and 2nd neck vertebrae were out of alignment. These are the first vertebrae out of the skull and the misalignment was pressing on my brain stem just enough to interfere with nerve communication between my brain (where the dystonia symptoms originate) to my affected muscles. After my first adjustment my neck had very little tilt and didnt have any spasms or pain! The time length of relief at this acute stage is limited for now and I will require further adjustments to reach my goal of feeling I have quality to my life again. I feel so relieved to be involved with something I KNOW works! I wish I had found Tim a long time ago! He is a very caring and knowledgeable person and practitioner!

Upper Cervical Care is a whole new world! Its not nearly as invasive as regular chiropractic, but yet makes a world of a difference. Before I began treatment at Atlas Specific, in January there werent many days that I can say I wasnt taking pain relievers for one thing or another. My neck and back were burning in pain every day, and headaches were almost daily as well. My hands would tingle and the bottoms of my feet were numb all of the time. I was told that this was nerve damage due to Diabetes and that it wouldnt get any better, also that my medications would increase in dosage as time progressed.One of the first things I noticed was that the nerve pain in my hands and feet were gone! I havent even thought about my neck and back pain in months either. Headaches are also a thing of the past now. As an overall health decision I quit taking birth control pills after 15 years 4 months ago. Along with my adjustments, I have been able to significantly lower the amount of insulin I need, and I am also able to keep my blood glucose levels regulated much easier!

Jay, Petra, and Clay are the best chiropractors in Durango. Petra is the only chiropractor who seems to be able to fix my shoulders, Clay is simply amazing with my kids, and Jay has always been able to fix my husband (a big guy) and gave really effective chiropractic adjustments to my elderly dog. Paula and Ana always make me feel comfortable when I show up a nervous wreck with my kids. You wont find better chiropractic care in Durango - I highly recommend Cafe of Life.

Dr. Dugas has had amazing success ( and finally, considerable relief! ) in treating my neck after 2 rear-end car accidents that had left me with constant headaches and discomfort. I had been trying for years to deal with these problems, with moderate progress, but from the first appointment I knew I was finally on the right path for me. Im sorry Dr. Dugas is leaving Denver, but Durango is fortunate to have him. I may just have to make a trip down there from time to time. He is an intelligent and thorough professional who is passionate about getting results. I cant thank him enough, and I would recommend him to anyone who is suffering from upper spine issues.
