Excellent service! I dealt with the owner, Boris - very polite gentleman from Russia who operates in both Duluth at this location and in New York state. You can tell hes inherited many of the style influences from his location in New York; I got a fresh new style I hadnt thought of before and like it alot!

Always had a good experience there. My hairstylist was talkative, but not annoying and was really good about learning what I like. Of course, because Im a creature of habit, she never got to try anything different.I always looked forward to going in and getting a good trim and my beard cleaned up.

My daughter had her first haircut today from waist length, and Hope did an amazing job with her. My baby girl is typically VERY shy, and she was scared to have twelve inches of her hair cut off, but when she left she told me that she made a new friend today. Not only that, but my daughter is super proud of her Ojibwe culture, and two of the stylists were gassing her up today about how many words she knows at six years old. COVID-19 precautions are very questionable here. While most everyone was wearing masks, both a stylist and client had their nose is hanging out. One patron wasn’t wearing a mask at all. Salon services provided less than 6 feet proximity of each other. If you’re taking precautions this is not the place. We had been here before and loved it but upon making these observations chose to cancel our appointment and leave. Do not expect to return.

I’ve been here a few times before and usually they’re great. Had an appointment this morning and one of there stylist called in so they weren’t able to help me even tho I was there next, they would have to wait until after there appointments even tho there was multiple hairstylist and I was the only one in there and that wouldn’t work since I have work. Reason I’m posting the review is the worker working the counter was not helpful whatsoever and kind of rude. I told him that I had traveled almost a half hour to come here and he said “well people come up from far places all the time and get their appointments canceled” and just went back to cutting his persons hair leaving me standing in front of counter. Also didn’t offer me a later reschedule date.Absolutely will not be coming back

I forget the stylists name, I believe shes the store manager, but she was amazing. I went a few months back, she gave me a cute cut and bangs and walked me through tips for trimming them myself, along with a ton of other advice and education. It was super helpful, Ill definitely be going back.

Bam Style is the best place in Duluth for a cut and shave. They do an awesome job every time I come in. Prices is a little bit more than other conventional places but the quality is unmatched. My roommate had recommended I go there and I refuse to go anywhere else. Andrew did a fantastic job last time I stopped in.

This is the best place in the area hands down. My significant other received a terrible hair cut from cost cutters and Andrew fixed his hair so well. I just received a new style from Jess and I absolutely love it. They both are so knowledgeable and good at what they do. Everyone at bam is fantastic. 1st timer, waited about 30min as a walk-in which was cool. They had 6 or so stylist on staff. Clean waiting area and they play music. I let Rachel know about not using an electric razors since I break out like crazy. She did an outstanding job, was meticulous about making sure the fade was correct. 5 of 5, great service, everyone was awesome and friendly. Ill be back for sure. Huge Thank you.

Updated Review 5/3/18: I have been going here for quite awhile and have never had a bad experience. I usually have Andrew cut my hair and he always does a phenomenal job. Just make sure to make an appointment but he will also take walk ins if he can too.I have been going here for years and never had a bad haircut. Good fading and very friendly staff. I typically choose the same hair stylists/cutters but it was my first time having Ashley today for a mens cut. I would recommend Ashley. She did an excellent job.

This is a fantastic little salon. The second I walked in the door they were extremely friendly. I felt like I had been getting my haircut there for years. Kimberly gave me a perfect cut.

Ive had my haircut all over Duluth. Bam is hands-down the best barber in the area. I dont personally know of another shop in town that will give you a straight razor shave. Walk-ins probably not the best option, you should set up an appointment first.

These three guys have been cutting the hair of my family for many years. They cut my hair when they worked for a business that they now compete with. In reality they have no competition ... there just simply isnt an equivalent salon business in Duluth of that caliber. On a personal level they are just fun to be around ... very personable and good with kids as well.

My stylist was great, but the manager is literally the most unpleasant person Ive ever had the misfortune to be around at a salon.My very intense color took two visits to accomplish. My first visit was really nice; I really liked my stylist, Ashleigh, who was very personable and excited about my color. Everyone was chatting and joking.I came back a couple days later to finish my process, and the manager was there. After one minute in the chair, I realized why the atmosphere was so different than the weekend. The manager was snapping at every stylist for every little thing. A girl left the desk to use the restroom (no one was in the lobby as far as I could see) and she YELLED across the salon at the girl to not leave the desk. Sorry, but if you need to correct an employees behavior, you do NOT do it in front of clients.The same girl was then yelled at for not adding enough powder to the color the manager had her mix for her, then was yelled at (STOP!) for almost adding too much.The manager finished with her color cart, then yelled across the salon for the girl to come clean it for her.This whole time, I thought the girl was maybe an apprentice or something but nope she was a fully licensed stylist who was being yelled at like a dog in front of customers.This manager also cut me off while I was talking to MY stylist to awkwardly try to up sell me on a service mid sentence.She also was doing this weird thing while others were working; where shed come and stand RIGHT behind the stylist and hover. Like literally just staaaaaare while they were working a foot behind them, then like awkwardly shove herself in to give suggestions. Which in itself would be fine, but the delivery was very uncomfortable and didnt feel friendly.As I type this, shes glaring around the room and has, like, snapped at another girl for probably oiling her clippers too much with a nasty tone. Other clients are looking around at one another with raised eyebrows.That being said, my stylist and everyone else Ive encountered has been a joy. But you can tell how hurt and stressed they are by this unprofessional treatment.Im so uncomfortable. Send help.

I was surprised that I had such a different experience than the stellar reviews which sent me here in the first place. The receptionist was more interested in eating... to the point of a stylist checking me in. My cut was.. well, a cut. The stylist, while nice, gave me VERY choppy layers which had little rhyme or reason--I ended up softening them myself so they werent so drastic (I have fine hair so they stuck out like a sore thumb). I ended up just paying and leaving. If I had to do it over again, I would have done it myself.

This place used to be my favorite barber shop but its too hard to get in to have a haircut. I have been trying for two weeks to get a cut and they cant seem to fit me in as a regular customer. They need to hire more barbers to keep up with the demand of a growing clientele .

What I got was a nice mullet. I went back to get it fixed and left with a slightly shorter mullet. I asked her to go shorter in the back so it matched my short front and she took very little off. Then said it loooked good. I looked like a mom from the early 90s. I love the atmosphere at bam but this visit was terrible. I left and Saige at Great Clips fixed me right up. Got a cut that I love.

Rude, misogynist, and unproffessionalSo I went to bam style today to get my hair cut, it was one of the few places open, and it was a really bad experience.The man who cut my hair asked me what I do, so I said I was an art major. He proceeded to ask me what my boyfriend thought about me choosing such an unrealistic career. So I politely corrected him and said that I dont in fact have a boyfriend (because I obviously am a heterosexual female who is very concerned with what my boyfriend thinks of my life choices). And then he continued (for the entire hair cut) to harass me about my major, suggest that I sculpt nudes of the other men working there,and told me that I should have chosen a more realistic career like a nurse or a kindergarten teacher. Because obviously those careers are the only ones that are suited for my heterosexual female domestic self. Okay. Completely inappropriate, rude, and unprofessional.

Had a 20 something female trim my beard she cut three hairs and charged me full price. Very disappointed not the Bam I used to go to on Woodland Ave.
