I was very happy with the professionalism and bedside manner of all the associates I was in contact with. The office was undergoing a move at the time, but it did not impact my visit. I never felt rushed by anyone, and I felt they were very attentive to my care.

Im extremely happy with the care I got from Dr. Szerlip and with the results. He is kind and relatable, and he has a sense of humor. Most important, he answered all my questions and treated me like a partner in my own health care. I never had to wait long to see him at my appointments. The results of my surgery are outstanding -- I continue to improve day to day. I would recommend Dr. Szerlip to any friend who needs an orthopedic surgeon.

I thank him for his expert medical advise and surgery after a broken arm diagnosis and worn out shoulder accident. This 56 year old mother and her 16 year old daughter are so greatful for such a speedy recovery. I cannot recommend him enough in one day. I am so blessed to have had him as my surgeon and doctor. If you hurt, dont wait. He is awesome! Thanks for getting me back to work in 8 weeks.

Dr. Szerlip did an amazing job on my rotator cuff and biceps tendon repairs. I did not bruise and pain was very manageable. He is an excellent surgeon who listens to his patients’ concerns. 3 months post-op and I’m doing better than expected. The clinical staff are kind and compassionate, but (at times) the wait to be seen can be in excess of 45 past appointment time.

As seniors, we plan for retirement, travel and the good times, but we dont necessarily plan for unexpected medical resources when we need it. I found myself needing a full replacement of my shoulder and had no idea who should do it. Fortunately, I was referred to Dr Ben Szerlip to do the job. From the first meeting, he was thorough with explaining the situation, providing solutions and I never felt pressured to make an on the spot decision. He sent me home with literature, answered all of my questions and let me decide what was best for me. Once I decided to do the surgery, he continued to be there for me -- providing the confidence and skill level to put my mind at ease. The surgery went way better than expected and, while I wished it didnt have to happen, the out come was much better than expected. All of the hospital providers, medical staff and support folks had nothing but good things to say about him. His bed side manner encourages you to have a positive outcome and his skill level at getting the job done right (without any complications) is high. Hes good at what he does and you can tell he really loves what hes doing....without bragging....he is humble and will downplay his abilities by saying its a team effort. No one wants surgery and when you need it and dont know who to use, it can be frustrating. Before my surgery, I didnt know him from Adam, but now I do and am very thankful to have made the decision to go with him for my surgery.

Dr. Szerlip as performed 3 shoulder surgeries for my family. He took the time to listen, to understand, and to explain the injury and treatment plan until I was comfortable. And he gave up personal time on the weekend to help when my sons recovery wasnt going well. His work is exceptional; each of my sons have enjoyed a full recovery. I trust him completely with my familys shoulder needs.

I had a tear in my right shoulder, and when I saw him he clearly explained what had happened to my shoulder and the procedure that would be used to fix it. So far so good in the recovery process as well. I had a few checkup appointments as well to make sure my shoulder was healing properly. Overall a great doctor.

I appreciate Dr. Szerlips decision to treat my problem with a conservative choice rather than going straight to surgery. He is very personable as are the staff with him. While young, he is an expert in his field. Since I am an old woman, I loved that he told me that what he was advising was what hed tell his mother! Thats what I like to hear!

I feel like I was given a real blessing when Dr. Szerlip was recommended to me by another physician--she told me he wrote the book on the reverse shoulder procedure I needed. Later I found that he had indeed authored a published paper on the procedure and had studied with the maker of the shoulder device in France. He did my surgery in August 2017 and my recovery is going extremely well. I am very grateful for his skill and expertise. In addition, he is very patient-focused and spends a lot of time in post-op office visits on educating and actually listening to the patient.Recently, I saw him for a 2 year followup visit and continue to give him rave reviews. He is a fabulous surgeon and I am so pleased with the functional status I have as a result. I have copies of all of the xrays done and when I compare to the original one taken right after the accident, its hard to believe it turned out so well. The top of the humerus (large arm bone) was sitting off to the side of the bone--crushed with lots of pieces. I have excellent range of motion now, no pain medications needed since the immediate post-op period. Highly recommend him.

Dr Szerklip is helping me with out surgery which is excellent from a surgeon in my opinion. But on the other hand, I did not ask for a Rx and told the Dr that I did not need an RX but I was text by the wrong Sams club about an RX Dr. Szerlip had prescribed. Which I will not pick up and do not need to spend the $76 when not needed. Also after my 1st visit the referral to Texas Phy Therapy took some time for Tx Phy to get the referral for my PT. It would be good to make sure referrals are given to patients before that leave the office.

I previously worked in orthopedics for over 45 years, so when I fractured my right shoulder, I wanted a competent & caring physician. I was referred to Dr Szerlip and immediately recognized the knowledge he shared, & agreed completely with his treatment plan, knowing I had found a qualified and exceptional physician to take care of me. I am 3 months post op a reverse total shoulder replacement, & have had no problems. His physical therapy protocol is amazing and the therapist at Michael Tillman Therapy has me gaining range of motion & strength each visit! I would like to recommend Dr Szerlip as an outstanding physician, specially trained in shoulder, arm, & hand injuries!

I cannot express enough gratitude and thanks to Dr. Szerlip. I tore my bicep away from my forearm while lifting. I waiting to go to the doctor due to moving. I visited Dr. Szerlip, 4 weeks after my injury. He is very kind and a great bed side manner. I had to have surgery to repair the bicep, followed by 6 months of Physical Therapy. Dr. Szerlip was attentive and explained everything to me, the risks, the procedure and the downtime. The surgery went excellent, and i now have full use of my arm again. My scar is minimal. He also did a new procedure for Distal Biceps Repair using the BicepsButton and Tension Slide technique- that used a anchor and screw for reattachment. Excellent experience, and I highly recommend Dr. Szerlip!!

We were very blessed to have Dr. Szerlip repair our sons two torn shoulder labrums. After having an MRI on his shoulders, we discovered that both his right and left shoulder labrums were torn and in need of repair. Dr. Szerlip suggested to repair the worst one first and then wait a few months to repair the next. We followed his advice and did exactly that. Our son followed through with an awesome physical therapist, Matt Gieringer, after each surgery and just like Dr. Szerlip said, he was ready to go back to football this fall. Although he has declined, he will soon be enrolling in tumbling classes and will possibly try football next season. We are so grateful that our son has full use of his shoulders again and can enjoy life as it was meant to be.Thank you, Dr. Szerlip, for your skilled hands, kind heart and a true desire to see our son back operating at his fullest potential. You were a good listener, even when we had a lot of questions, and you always had his best interest in mind. We are so grateful to God that He has used you to restore our son and I pray He will continue to use you to bless many, many others. Thanks again.

Three months ago I had reverse total shoulder replacement surgery. Although it is a difficult surgery and long road to recovery, I am already feeling back to normal, pain free, and excellent movement of the arm/shoulder. Dr. Szerlip set up home health for me and there is not doubt this sped up my recovery and helped to make me feel more confident about my experience. Having a nurse, physical therapist, and personal aide, was unbelievably helpful since I was not able to drive. The surgery went well, my scar is hardly noticeable, and Dr. Szerlip was caring, understanding, and was available at any time. Yes, personally available, and almost immediately after calling, if not, even answering my call personally. When I went to my own physical therapist, she was amazed at the instruction sheet I gave her from Dr. Szerlip. Said, shed never seen anything like it from any Dr. and it certainly provided her with information for the best possible care. Thank you Dr. Szerlip. I raise both arms up high to you....................

Oft times when one might opt to write a review, the obligatory checklist comes into play. Writing one for a Surgeon, does not change that dynamic. In Dr. Szerlips case, the checklist might go as follows:1-Was he highly recommended? Check.2-Was he accessible to address ones concerns? Check3-When he spoke with you did he look into your eyes and actually listen? Check4-Did he explain all that was entailed with the procedure to be performed? Check5-Was he crystal clear and explicit in his prognosis and follow up aftercare instructions? CheckThats all well and good and I was extremely pleased. No, make that beyond pleased with the entire process from consult to discharge. But heres the thing; the most important thing, at least to this patient: To many of us its the little things that end up counting the most. Little things that tell us, this is something special, this is for the personal journal. That this (the little things) is not all that common. What were those little things that separate the extremely talented surgeon (which he is) from the robotic one (which he most certainly isnt)? Its twofold:1-Aside from being delighted with how I fared post-op, he seemed to be most excited with the fact that he was able to avoid cutting into my tattoo. I never once mentioned the tat to him and any concern I might have had with it, yet it was important to him that he did everything he could to preserve the integrity of it. Not that it would have mattered as I am still looking for the minimal size cuts he made to perform the procedure..So, what does that tell you?2-How comforting is it when the Doctor takes the time out of his (or her) busy schedule to personally look in on you with a phone call to see that all is well? The answer is simple: Most of us would not know or experience such a comfort, given that the phone calls usually are placed by the staff and/or the surgicenter..So what does that tell you?So, if we combine the usual with the unusual what do we have? A caring, uber talented professional who genuinely cares about what he does and with whom he does it on. One of a kind Doctor? I think so, or else I wouldnt have taken the time to write this glowing review..Thank you Dr. Szerlip for taking care of my problem and for caring far beyond the call of duty.Bruce S. Gilbert

While out of town during the 2015 Christmas holidays, I fell and broke my Right hand bone and chipped a bone in my wrist; in addition, two hairline fractures of the left elbow. I was treated at an Urgent Care facility and then referred to a local Hospital ER for further analysis of facial and possible head injuries. Both of these facilities indicated I would probably need plastic surgery not only on my face, but also my right hand.Arriving back home during the Christmas/New Year week, we started checking our Insurance Reference guide for a specialist. Fortunately, Dr. Benjamin Szerlip, D.O. was able to treat my elbow and hand injuries within two days. I walked out of his office with a more positive outlook, as he felt confident I DIDNT need ANY type of surgery. He sent me home with a brace on my arm. My recovery has been on schedule, and with a physician that makes sure his patient knows what is going on at all times, and has time to answer any questions of concern. (P.S. God took care of the facial/head injuries without plastic surgery!!)
