Avoid this place! Terrible service! They insist on procedures and tests that one specifically states DO NOT WANT! I went in with my children to get a ROUTINE VISION EXAM! They forced my daughter to change her forms to say she saw blurry (doesnt everyone who needs glasses) in order to justify a glaucoma test and dilation we SPECIFICALLY SAID we did NOT want. (Ever heard of a 20 year old with glaucoma?!?!) My other daughter - same thing. I had to INSIST I myself did NOT want it (wrestling match) and she misrepresented another procedure as not drops when in fact they were. By the time I realized what she was doing it was too late! This doctor is arrogant, pushy and forces tests so she can charge insurance. She ignores the patients requests and then insists on defending her questionable practices. Her staff is so incredibly rude (Front office staff, because the lady who does the billing is polite and pleasant) Unprofessional - We waited for almost an hour beyond our appointment slot and they were not the least but concerned. Another family stormed out while we were there because the Dad was offended at being ignored for so long. Cannot blame them. This place is AWFUL! I would never go back. It is very difficult to get an appointment at a reputable place like PENN, but worth the wait and every penny. Avoid this practice like the plague! Save yourself the angst and unwanted invasive procedures!

I’m dealing with same exact problems as the other 1 star reviews here. To be frank I really do like the doctor, she’s great. But she’s hired a team that’s is destroying her business. There’s zero customer service happening over there. Paid for my contacts in person plus shipping because it’s hard for me to get over there. 3 weeks later I call to see why I haven’t gotten them yet. I find out that arrived a week prior and they didn’t ship them because they say I more money now. They didn’t even call to tell me that there was a problem?! So I ask for an invoice to explain the charges to be emailed to me so I can understand what happened. I’m officially being ghosted. It’s been about 2 weeks since first contact with them and I still don’t have an invoice or my contacts. They were happy to take $110 of my money though, after insurance too btw. The more they make me wait the more they will regret it. I need to change doctors and maybe just order contacts online from now on.ARE YOU READING THIS?! You have my number....

Dr. Major and her staff were great. I didnt wait very long, but had a chance to look over new glasses options while I waited. Her tech staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The office was very nice and clean with lovely decor. This was the first office that I had been to that actually instead of using a physical way to check your retina, used a photo, which I think is much more reliable and very easy! I also like to be able to see what is actually going on myself. The optometry staff was great as well and I ended up not only getting prescription sunglasses, but a new set of regular glasses as well.

Dr. Major said, You are eating too many shrimp I was like, How do you know I eat shrimp lol. Then she said, And your cholesterol is high I was like, What? What kind of machine is that Sis? Then she gave me a recipe to flush the shellfish deposits so that I do not develop kidney stones or gout. I will be making my cleansing smoothies and doubling my water intake. I posted about my visit on Facebook and one of my friends was so impressed she scheduled a visit with Dr. Major. My eye doctor is awesome!

After reading the previous reviews, I didnt experience any negative service. In fact I felt, extremely comfortable. Dr. Major was very professional, as were the two ladies at the reception desk, Ms Irene and other lady whose name escapes me. (please forgive me). Test were run which I am glad of because this lays a basis for your care. I was given results with great explanation of what they meant. By the time I left, I no longer felt new but like I found MY Optometrist. As far as price, you get what you pay for. I want Service, Knowledge, and Trust, not a traveling optometrist that offers cheap service, product, and may not be there in a month or so. Kudos to Dr. Major and her staff. To be continued.P.S. This is the only Google review Ive ever written but felt strongly compelled to write it after reading the review of A Google User. Because I had the same exact experience! The person who wrote that review explained my appointment exactly and the deceitful way of billing. And now I have a $600 invoice for the same reason, because they used my medical coverage instead of my Vision plan which is only a $10 copay. At my appointment I specifically instructed the receptionist that I do not want to pay anymore than my co-pay, and that I do not want to receive a bill, and to stop at any treatment before I would be billed for anything other than my vision plan. They said ok, dont worry you wont. A month later I received a bill for over $620! After I received the bill, I called the office and was told you knew what you were signing. What?? !!!! I couldnt believe what she was saying to me, a patient! And then she threatened me with my credit report saying if I dont pay it, itll go against my credit report. Im still stunned over this egregiously unprofessional situation. And to boot, it happened to me about 2 years ago but the bill was small so I just paid it thinking it was me who misunderstood. Unbelievable that a medical establishment can get away with this kind of duplicitous and deceitful billing practices.

Finding doctors who really care about you are a rare occurrence these days. The staff at Eye Innovations were very welcoming from the door! They were pleasant, Dr. Major was very nice, and really does care about the whole person, not just your health. Did I mention that she was very thorough? She explained every test that she was performing and why it was being done. She asked if I had any questions throughout and answered the ones that arose as well. I am normally VERY terrified of getting eye drops, and she made it the experience almost an enjoyable one (I like the little kids method of putting in the drops actually). I will ask that you do not judge them by what others have said... Instead, try them out for yourself. I was definitely impressed, and will be referring EVERYONE I know to Eye Innovations!

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!Awful experience from start to finish. Poor customer service and poor communication between Dr Major and the front desk staff. There was contacts in my chart as trial lenses that were never even given to me. I went in for a follow up office visit and was told that Dr Major will not see me and she was on a conference call (all while I heard her yelling at her assistant) and that they ordered new trial lenses. A huge waste of my time. Called multiple times and left messages with no return phone calls. Called multiple times and was placed on hold but was hung up on multiple times. Was told that the contacts or contact lens fitting fee were not covered under my insurance and they both ARE covered under my insurance. This has been a 3 month ordeal trying to get contact lenses. Finally got my prescription for glasses and contacts and took my prescription else where to be filled with no issues.

Dr. Major and her staff were excellent with my eye exam this year. I learned things about my eyes and how to properly care for them that I had never known before. I felt respected and valued in the office. My visit was painless (except for the inevitable sting of the dilation drops) and fast! I have been searching for a quality eye doctor for years now and feel that my search is over! Dr. Major is also very familiar with gas perm contact lenses which is a huge relief as that is my preferred contact choice. I am fortunate enough to have a vision insurance plan that is accepted at that office so my visit was free for me. I am giving this a 1 star because 0 stars is not an option. My wife and I spent $1,356 for a pair of glasses for me and glasses and contacts for her. Since I am disabled and its difficult for me to get around they told me it would be okay for my wife to pick up my glasses and I would only have to go back if there was an issue. The issue is - I dont see any better out of the new glasses than I do out of my old glasses and everything is blurry when my wife wears her new glasses. The problem with her glasses may have been noticed when she picked them up but they had her put in her contacts first therefore she was unable to check her glasses when she picked them up. My wife went back to the shop in an attempt to correct the problem but Dr. Major refused to even come out of the back (I guess hiding) to discuss the issue. They told her there are no returns and only offered for her to come back to speak with the person (she was off that day) who could train her on how to use her glasses despite the fact shes been wearing glasses for years. She didnt need training she needed customer service and Eye Innovations refused to provide any service. We are disputing all charges and will NEVER go there again (and neither should anyone reading this review)!!!

My boyfriend went to see Dr. Major after experiencing a random blind spot in his eye. The two of us needed to take off work for the day (I needed to drive him to/from the appointment), and we were told that it was an emergency and needed to be seen right away. When we went to the appointment, she couldnt tell what was wrong with his eye, and ordered a bunch of tests. She kept making a point of telling us that it was worrying her, and it could be something very bad causing the blind spot.A few days later the test results came back, and we went back to the doctor. We were again told that she didnt know what the issue was, and ordered more tests. She also gave him eye drops that she thought might work. We were told that he would be notified when the test results came back. We were never notified. He called after a week and a half and told she was on vacation. He waited another week and called again, at which point he was told that she was bogged down with work upon returning from her vacation, and would reach out to him soon. Two weeks went by, and still nothing. He called again and was told, its back to school time, its very important for kids to have their eyes checked. So a routine eye exam is more important than a blind spot with unknown cause?! After that he tried calling one more time, in an effort to avoid having to get the expensive tests done by another doctor, and was told that the doctor was busy. She still hasnt called. Its now November and well past back to school time. He never received the test results for tests that cost hundred of dollars. I consider this incident to be theft and negligence.

Nobody was able to explain why, except that I am a diabetic and they must bill my medical insurance. The funny part? I have VSP Diabetic Plus coverage! Everything should be billed to my vision. In any case, my very first warning should have been the large NO REFUNDS. STORE CREDIT ONLY. sign they have on the desk. Ive contacted the NICB and will probably have to dispute both the out-of-pocket cost (for the refund they wont give) as well as dispute the charge with my medical insurance.

Where do I begin?Ok. So....as I get older I’m becoming more impatient 🙄. My appointment was at 11:30, I arrived at 11 and was greeted warmly by Ms. Irene whose voice and energy is very soothing. I knew I was early so no prob. Let me say that when I walked in I immediately liked how the office looked on an aesthetic level. Very NY/LA. Kind of a loft/ studio situation with great light.I started getting fidgety around 11:45ish. I’m a stickler for time so **insert impatience here**. I had a serious RBF and wanted a smoke. However, this being my first visit as a new patient, I didn’t want to have smoke emanating from my pores or clothes. While I’m waiting everyone there is cordial/clever/funny and attentive. Then it dawns on me that the optometrist is the only one there (meaning it’s her territory alone, this is HER flex) 🙌🏾 Ok cool.Mike takes me back and proceeds to evaluate my vision and had a few jokes which made me smile and laugh. He did a great job maneuvering past my attitude and getting my eyes prepped. Shortly thereafter I met the optometrist and immediately liked her. She explained clearly and concisely her goals for my vision and was curious as to why I had such high power contact lenses. She dialated me I waited some more (picked out glasses with the help of Mike) and got fresh lower powered lenses.I absolutely will rock out with this place. I appreciate a practitioner that doesn’t rush you and takes the time to provide some preventative care and balance to your maintenance. I paid for my visit and put a 50% deposit on my glasses and was VERY pleased. Everyone there is awesome. Office is clean, inviting, trendy (without offending anyone) and SPACIOUS. I absolutely recommend this office and practitioner. Be prepared to wait a bit (which really isn’t that deep, especially if you have patience 🙄) It’s a satisfying experience.

I recently had an eye exam, and must respectfully admit Dr. Major seemed either completely disinterested, or just is one of those people who lacks common bedside manners. Maybe she was having a bad day, but Im actually a physician, and the exchange was one of the most awkward Ive encountered. She walked in the room without an introduction, smile or saying hello. I did wonder if she was maybe just feeling miserable that day. She did a quick exam, admittedly with some chuckles after a few jokes I made. I was then walked out to the front desk without any verbal explanation of my prescription (I had to asked the front desk) and she walked away with no further exchange or acknowledgement whatsoever. No eye contact, no good-bye, nothing. It was so strange. Maybe it was because she couldnt get a medical exam out of my insurance (just a prescription check) and was therefore completely disinterested...perhaps as a way of discouraging low-revenue customers. Not sure, its a business afterall. But I was in and out very quickly and got what I needed. The staff though was very courteous. Anyways, I really wish I had read the all other reviews on yelp or the other reviews here. Hard to come back after such an awkward experience...makes one second guess quality as well as intent. I decided immediately to take my prescription and give my business for new glasses elsewhere.I just also read the review below by Aurora...Little disappointing to hear the lack of professionlism extending to actual patient care issues. I do hope that wasnt entirely the case.

Updated response: 1. In their response to me they said I slept in my daily contacts for days at a time, which is not correct at all, I would never do that to my eyes. Im not sure why they would make up that lie, other than to try to make me look inept. 2. On a prescription, the eye doctor has to write brand name specific, in order for the pharmacy not to be able to give me an off brand, which she must have done since the pharmacist had to call the doctor for me in order to save me $200. 3. I was given an incorrect contact prescription and no eyeglass prescription until months of asking for one. So yes youre right, I was given a contact prescription that your office then told me was incorrect, so thanks for that!To save you from this extremely long post and this office which is a waste of your time and money, just please avoid this place at all costs!!Oct 24, 2016: I went in for standard eye exam, my eyes were red so doc said I’d have to come back. She wrote me a prescription for a $200 bottle of eye drops, which the pharmacist then helped me get to $8Oct 27: I went back to the eye doc, and she said my eyes looked better and she’d be able to get my contact lens prescription. I left that day with a trial of the contacts they wanted me to wear and no prescription, because they said Id have to come back in for the doctor to see how they fit on my eye before I got a prescription.I left for California for a week, looked up the contacts they wrote me a prescription for and found they were too expensive. When I got back, I wanted to get my script so I could order contacts. After calling and being hung up on multiple times, I finally got Irene to say shed print my script and I could pick it up when she called to notify me. I called back the next day since I never heard, and she said it was ready so I went to pick it up. While there I asked if there were other cheaper but similar contacts, Michelle said yes, shed order a trial for me. I asked if I could just get a prescription for the same contacts I had been wearing, as I like them and they are comfortable, and Michelle said ‘that’s too small of a base curve, you need 8.6+.’ When I showed her the contact lens prescription Irene just printed that said my bc was 8.4, she said ‘that’s the wrong prescription.’ So now I had no trial, no prescription.A couple weeks later I went in again (everytime I called, I was put on hold and hung up on, and nobody called me back, so I got sick of calling) to see if the trial was there; it wasnt. I asked if there were any other trials because I couldnt see well with my glasses and I couldnt get any without a prescription. After waiting about an hour, she gave me monthly contacts (I didnt even know the brand), just to hold me over until the trial came.I checked in the following week (Dec 5), because the monthlies were hurting my eyes and giving me an infection. Michelle told me she would call the trial company and expedite a single trial to me, even if it had to be expedited to Michigan, where wed be that weekend. She said shed call back right after talking to the company. I called back Wed, since I hadnt heard from her, and was told shed call back. Then I called at 5:45, since they close at 6, was told she’d still call, they dont leave at 6 anyway. Again, didnt get a phone call. I called again Monday, and was hung up on yet again. Once I finally got a hold of Michelle, she said the contact trial would be in that week, and I could finally pick up my glasses prescription that night.I called back a few days after picking up my glasses script to check on the trial that was supposed to have been ‘expedited’, which is when they told me that since they had already given me two trials, they wouldn’t give me anything else, nor would they change my prescription. I still had not received the correct prescription, so Irene said she would print one last one and that’s it!’This has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and find another eye doc.

Almost nine months after my visit, I received a very large bill for my routine eye exam, even though it turns out that I overpaid in the first place, AND my eye exam should have been covered by my insurance. I have contacted the office several times and they will not explain the bill or why I owe them this money. Last night I received an email threatening to send the bill to collections. I am furious. I will never go here again.

I encountered a number of problems and issues at Eye Innovations with their policies/practices.1) Do you like playing guess the price? Well you are in luck, you come to the right place. None of the frames have prices on them. So a customer has to ask an EI employee what the price is for each and every single frame they want to even consider. Eye Innovations employee has to look in the system to give you a price. Imagine going into a store and there is no price listed on any product.I remarked it is a hassle to ask each time what each item cost. Paula (EI receptionist/salesperson) remarked It is not a hassle for me.. Well, Paula it is a hassle for most customers to have to ask you for the price of everything. This is the only place where the price of a frame is not readily displayed. Actually, it is a big hassle if a customer has to ask you the price of each and every frame. This is retailing 101. Make it easy for a customer to make a buy decision. Eye Innovations tries to put as many obstacles as possible in a customers path to make a buy decision. Customers are not interested in playing Guess the Price Game.2) Frames kept under lock and key. If the lack of price transparency doesnt irritate you enough, try having to ask EI employee to unlock a frame so you can look at it. Who wants the hassle? I just take the script and have it filled at the one of the clubs (Costco, BJs, Sams ect). At the clubs I am not made to feel like a criminal and I save probably 30% to 50%.3) Eye Innovations will ask for sensitive info and claim it is required by law. They make you fill out forms and require your Drivers License. I inquired why they need a Drivers License to perform an eye exam? The response was it was because it was required by law. Which naturally begs the question - What law is that?. This is where I get a Deer in the Headlights look from Paula with a flippant response Well that is our policy.Wait a second you just said it was required by law now you are saying it is our policy? When challenged about the claim a DL is required by law EI employee quickly back peddles and changes her story. Asking for Drivers License is an invasion of privacy, as is, asking for SSN. The patients insurance card is sufficient you dont need a copy of a patients DL. If a patient is paying completely by cash or CC then you shouldnt even be asking. Please dont hide behind a non-existent law to extract sensitive information from a patient.4) Eye Innovations shouldnt be asking for and scanning in a patients Drivers License and/or Social Security card. A patient is needlessly exposing himself to the potential for identity theft. There is no assurance the scanned image will not end up in the wrong hands. What sort of encryption is used to safeguard personal information? Has their system been compromised with a virus, malware ect? Basic idea is your personal information is entrusted to an organization that may not have the people, process or technological know how to protect you personal information.5) Eye Innovation refused to do even simple adjustments. My 5 year old daughter got a prescription filled here. After a day of wearing her new glasses the sharp and hard plastic nose pad was so uncomfortable and painful. I asked Paula if she could replace the nose pad the eye glass came with a softer one. Paulas response We dont do that, try Lens Crafters. Are you kidding me? Even the simplest adjustment and follow up care is pawned off to someone else. Doesnt inspire confidence. The only redeeming quality of Eye Innovation is Dr Major. She does a complete and through eye exam.Eye Innovations asks their customers to post reviews on Google and Yelp.

I brought my 3 year old for her first check up. Since I did not know that you have your children checked out at 6 months, as this is when thier vision starts to develop. She loved Dr. Major and her staff. Did not cry at all. They even changed the tv so she could watch Nick Jr.Also I found amazing, I suffer from dry eye. And I used drops forever, didn t care for contacts since after using them my eyes would be even more of an issue. Been to other doctors and they suggested drops after drops. Thankfully Dr. Major introduce me to Punctal Plugs. My eyes are so much better, and feel amazing. Getting the Plugs put in didn t even hurt at all. I was in and out. I even knew after the temps were gone. I schedule an appointment and had her place the permanet plugs in. Love Love Love that the temps work and I no longer have to suffer with dry eye. I am wearing my contacts more often since my eyes are great afterwards. Thank you to Eye Innovation for looking out for my eyes. God only gives us one pair, so thank you for keeping them good. I will continue to go to Eye Innovations for years to come. And Highly recommend Plugs for anyone with dry eye. Punctal Plugs a plus, Never heard of them Until now and so happy I did.

Incompetent staff and doctor performed medical services I did not consent to then fraudulently billed my medical insurance instead of vision insurance, then said I was responsible for the balance. The secretary couldnt explain what anything on my bill was for and had no idea what each code was for. They also decided to bill me for services 10 months after being seen for a visit. Completely incompetent and worst experience ever.
