Incredibly disappointed in the quality of care I received from Dr. Holze. I do not recommend seeing this dermatologist. I was immediately dismissed and not taken seriously, and he was incredibly patronizing. The appointment was not even 5 minutes long and he offered no solutions or support and I left the appointment much more discouraged than before. I have never had poor experiences with any other doctors or staff from the Iowa Clinic.

Would give 0 stars if I could. I do not recommend this specialist at all. Terrible bedside manner for anything other than the Iowa Hawkeyes. Very rude. Do not understand why there are family collage photos in the room patients are disrobing in for medical care. Its creepy. He said he was calling in a prescription and ointment but did not. Had to contact several times to get it called in finally a week later. Holtze did biopsy and tried to leave while it was still gushing blood, did not provide any wound care instructions I guess Im just supposed to figure it out myself.

Went in for what I thought was an intitial consultation for three skin issues. Dr Holtze spent less than 15 minutes in the room with me. In that time he prescribed something witout telling me what it was or how long to use it. He also did two biopsies without consent or explanation. When I returned home and took the band-aids off I discovered a chunk out of my hand and a chunk out of my nose.I have never had reason to not trust my doctors until now. I cannot fathom why he thinks it is ok to take a chunk out of a persons nose without consent.

Waste of time and money is right. Offered no treatment for a medical condition, was abrupt and seemed not to care. Find another Dr. if you want help but dont know who it would be.

Worst Dr. ever. I wish I would have read the reviews before wasting my time and money seeing this Dr. Was no help at all rushed and made me feel worse about myself in the end.

Waste of time and money. Dr. Holtze lacks all bedside manner and I left his office feeling bad about myself and angry. Went in for a simple issue, which had been performed before by previous doctors, and he refused stating it wasnt medically necessary. . Could have conveyed that prior to taking my money! The reason for my appointment was communicated in advance. Not to mention that he is condescending and curt. He didnt do anything other than make light of my concerns and treat me like I was not worthy of his time. He rattled off some medical terms, wrote them down for some unknown reason and sent me packing. It is true that the staff is helpful and friendly, but their talents cannot make up for his unprofessional and upper-handed approach. This is a fine example of someone that should stop practicing because it is obvious he is not in it to take care of people. I would not recommend him to anyone.

I would give this doctor 0 stars if that was an option! Id never suggest him to anyone. He spent a total of MAYBE 5 min in the room with me. I went for a body scan for any irregular spots or moles and feel like it was a waste of time and now I need to go find someone else for a 2nd opinion. I also had him look at my fingernails which have changed in recent months. He said they were fine and when I asked how you can tell (for my own knowledge) he rudely said How can I tell what kind of socks youre wearing? I just can. Then he turned and walked out the door. The nurse was nice enough and said Basically, he doesnt have any concerns. Well, what if I do?! He didnt give me the time or attention a patient deserves. It was a waste of time and Ill never step foot in his office again. I should have looked at the other reviews online before going, and another red flag was how quickly I was able to get an appointment. No one wants to go there again after their 1st experience with him!

I tried make an appointment here and they said I had one last year that I never showed up for and they don’t allow you to just not show up. I’ve never been to a dermatologist in my life... the girl on the phone was very short and rude with me and when I tried to say I’ve never had an appointment there before she cut me off, twice, and said very snotty “we’re not accepting new patients any way” I told her I’d love to have the paper work from this missed appointment and she HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME. This place is obviously a joke. I called radiant complexions and got an appointment for next week and they were so helpful in advice for what to do in the mean time and very well mannered on the phone.

I was unable to sleep due to facial dryness & itching but the PAs in other clinics were booked weeks ahead. The friendly front desk staff at Dr. Holtzes office offered me a cancellation that was open for the day after my call. I was very pleased with the staff and the doctor. They listened to my concerns and offered solutions. The doctor gave me samples to try.I definitely recommend .

Saw him when I was younger. Didnt even have the knowledge to know that I had dyshidrotic eczema on my hands but yelled at me telling me I wasnt using the steroids properly. Very rude and doesnt care about helping you. Please dont see him. So many better options out there. I recommend dermatology pc. Like another reviewer put it, hes an imbecile and a scrooge. Not sure how hes still practicing considering how idiotic he is.

Ive been going to Dr. Holtze for many years. He is a very knowledgeable doctor and truly cares about his patients. He is always good about answering questions and takes the time to tell you everything that you need to know. I highly recommend him.

Trying to make an appointment the person on the phone with very short and rude said that they do not take children or see children I said that my daughter has been a patient with him before but she forward me onto another clinic sayung that I was incorrect with my information. First thing the other receptionist said when making my appointment was would you like to see dr. Holtze since your daughter has seen him before? I said I was informed that he has never seen my daughter even though he has so apparently I cannot make an appointment with him.

Very realistic and honest doctor. He goes straight to the point and goes an extra mile to provide you with the information you need.

Worst dermatology experience ever. I was referred here from my family physician and on my first appointment I had an unexpected biopsy on my scalp. I was hoping to talk about my issues during this appointment and schedule the biopsy for another day but next thing I knew I was being shot in the head, IN THE WRONG SPOT, with novacane. So, I ended up getting two shots and was never fully aware of what was happening. They did the biopsy on a spot where I wasn’t really having problems rather than the spot on the other side of my head with the most problems so now I have an unnecessary bald spot from the incision. 2 months later, I’m still picking sutures from the incision that NEVER dissolved like they were supposed to. This place lacks communication and I will never step foot in here again.

0/5 stars. I would never recommend this place.I was told by some nurses I work with that I had psoriasis, so i went for a second opinion. He told me that it was a minor rash and gave me steroids. I have had eczema all my life so i knew it wasnt a minor rash but i used the steroid cream anyway looking for relief. It did not help.What makes me the most angry is during this visit i asked about some spotty discoloring on my legs that have been getting rapidly worse over time. He said he had no idea what it couldve been. Didnt even try to give me an explanation or anything, just walked in the room, took a look, literally stated I have no idea., then told me i was good to leave.WORST doctor Ive ever been to.

Went in at the recommendation of my primary doctor to have lump removed off of my hip. I get there and he doesn’t want to remove it. He tells me the lump won’t get smaller and even though it causes discomfort due to where it is located. He said I would wind up with a scar. No, really? He was a waste of my time and my co-pay.

Full body exam looked at me for literally less than 1 minute and when I asked him a question he handed me a pamphlet. Now I have to spend more time and money going to someone else.

A very knowledgeable, sincere & skilled doctor. Received great care from him!

I have lived in the Des Moines area all my life. I thought I had heard of every Dr. with a specialty, but I had never met Dr. Holtz until I saw him for basil cell cancer. My immediate impression was favorable, and I have not been disappointed as I have gotten to know this fine man. He is warm caring and extremely skilled in his profession. I highly recommend him to anyone who has a skin problem.

This doctor is an imbecile. Very rude and incompetent. I am truly baffled that he has been allowed to practice this long. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR, YOU WILL NOT GET ANY HELP!

What I like is the immediate(same day) treatment and removal of any skin that looks suspicious and further in depth biopsy as needed. Dr Holtze has a life time of experience and that is priceless.

I have gone to Doctor Holtze for a few years. He has treated me for two types of skin cancer and appreciate his skill and care for me.

My wife & daughter went here today. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Dr Holtze was very efficient and I liked him very much.

Hes a scrooge overlooked my lupas for 2 years and all the symptoms were there!!!!! And has years of experience makes no sense to me!!!

So I called today to ask a question. Mind you Im a Transgender Patient. As soon as she notice Im Transgender she tells me we arent accepting new patients. And then she says bye in a disrespectful voice and hanged up on my face.
