I liked going to this place when I saw Karen, but after I had to stop going due to how expensive it was, I tried to go back the next year only to be told I couldn’t see Karen anymore and I was moved to another therapist. This therapist wasn’t suited for me, although she was nice. What’s the most upsetting is two months after I started with the new therapist, she suddenly had a career change and I only learned of this less than two weeks prior to her leaving. I was never able to book another session with her before she left and there was no closure. Six sessions. Not to mention, this practice does not post on their website that there is a reduced fee application for services. If you are low-income or live on SSI like I do, affording therapy at a place that doesn’t take insurance (or waiting ages for partial reimbursement), is nearly impossible and not sustainable. When I used to see Karen I was never told that there was a reduced fee application, and my father had to cover things for me until he could no longer afford to do so either. By next year when I was referred to the other therapist and again made clear my financial situation, I still was not told of this option. I only learned of it because I directly asked the therapist “is there some sort of assistance for low-income patients, my only income is SSI.” Then she says oh yeah there actually is this form you can fill out. Why doesn’t the center advertise this option on their website? Under the “insurance” tab? It discusses insurance and all cost options *except* for the reduced fee application. Just because the practice is located in Deerfield where people tend to have more money, doesn’t mean that only the well-off are seeking services. I was referred to the practice four years ago from another therapist and once I finally became a patient of Karen it was a small miracle that my waiting period was over and there was room for me. I don’t live near Deerfield so it’s a bit of a hassle but I didn’t mind. After I was moved to a different therapist who suddenly left the practice two months later, I became very disheartened and also lost a lot of money that came from my SSI. It’s impossible to contact anyone in the business office, no chance of getting a fair refund back considering I was referred to a therapist that would leave soon after, which there was no warning of before I committed to seeing her and paying the money. It is re-traumatizing as someone with severe PTSD and several other diagnoses, who is/was desperate for help. And if you’re too “poor” to afford the huge fees they will be on your account until you can pay them off, so if you can’t afford it then fat chance, you’re out of luck trying to go back. Oh, and even after I finally learned there was a reduced fee application, which I was told would take just a couple of weeks to review and then a decision on my fee would be reached—the verdict was never reached by the time the therapist left the practice. I submitted the application then weeks later had to ask what happened with it, only then I’m told they want even more information. I gave them proof of income from my SSI documents, and they didn’t ask me for my father’s financial info initially- that isn’t included on the form- so then after wasting more weeks of my time and me paying full price with my SSI check, I’m told that they need my parent’s proof of income as well. Yes I live with my parents because who can live on $783 and pay rent in the Chicago area on this amount. Does that mean my father makes enough money to pay hundreds of dollars a week on therapy appointments? No, otherwise he would have been able to continue doing so when I was seeing Karen, and I wouldn’t have had to stop going. My dad was on business trips constantly during those two months and didnt have time to find proper documentation for the anxiety center so that I could add that to my reduced fee application. He didn’t even know what to provide. So that was never completed & lost lots of money. Sad this happened & discouraged. Because Karen was good & this place is reputable.

Everyone mentions karen in their reviews posted after mine yet after thousands spent i never met her or saw her. these reviews only came after she solicted them after my review. take them with a grain of salt. Being told youre a burden out of the blue to your family for being mentally ill by an inexperienced therapist isnt worth it. there seems to be high turn over rate at the center. First one assigned to me bailed out of the blue for no reason even though conversations were cordial and not awkward . Was told 80 percent recovery rate by first therapist than second one said he didnt care what first said. Suckered in to waste thousands and exhaust family members due to money spent very little results. Was told 16 sessions by first, second said up to two years. Never met dr cassiady for all the thousands dropped. Dont waste your time.
