Compassionate and communicative. I had to get a friend into Walden and they staff were top notch. They walked us through the entire admission process and kept our support system up to date during our friends stay. I can not say enough nice things about the staff and facility.

Review for adult residential program:13 day stay. Was supposed to stay for 4+ weeks. Couldnt take it anymore. Program is treating several eating disorders all at the same time. This is less than ideal; rules apply to all across the board, even if its for an eating disorder you dont have. I could say a lot more, but it would probably go over the limit Im allowed to write here. 2 stars for giving me food at regular intervals. 2 stars for peer support. My peers taught me more than the staff. My team were nice people. But I didnt go there to make friends. I did not respond well to the treatment offered.

I was there for the young adult inpatient. the counselors are young and fun, but the doctors are generally condescending and will pressure you, however take this with a grain of salt, they are trying to take away your eating disorder which of course is uncomfy. All in all I was basically left in a room for hours with nothing to do, it’s an extremely disorganized program and I would recommend trying a different place, such as montenido, best of luck!

Beware!!! Make sure this is the right place for your child before placing. Definitely more for eating disorder than mental health.Served my vegetarian teen chicken for lunch. My child only had a mild case of food restriction, but being there with kids that had severe cases made her mental health decline rapidly and was not seen for this and called home crying several times. We decided we wanted to pulled her out ASAP. After finishing the paperwork they still made me wait two hours for them to walk her out. Then they called Child protective Services on us!

I know this said this was for residential, but the waiting list was so long that I was never able to get in. So this is my own personal experience since I was never able to get the mental help I needed. I was in the inpatient ward for two weeks and I’ve never experienced a place so tense and upsetting. The whole process once you step through the doors is a waiting game.Children from all different needs of care eat together and interact with each other in the same rooms during mealtime, which made it very difficult to focus on your own recovery. During meals, kids would stare at others while they ate (if they ate), bodycheck, and compare. It was a traumatizing and uncomfortable experience. The kids are separated into 3 groups depending on performance/behavior (how well they did during meals, treating people with kindness, etc.) I loathe this level system. The red level’s only privilege was 30 minutes of screen time at night. Yellow had more screen time, am or pm tea, more shower privileges, etc. Green levels had access to the previous tiers rewards with an additional prize, depending on how many days you stay on green (either 3 or 6). This system made the pressure kids already struggled with, more intense. Imagine working so hard to get to yellow, only to find out that youre back on red with no answer as to why. All of that hard work has gone to waste with no further motivation to try again. How can you expect us to improve long term when you dangle shiny toys and our phones in front of our faces? And take it away when we slip up? Do you expect us to keep the same mannerisms when we come home? The three groups are separated into 2 dining rooms (red/yellow, and green). The green dining room was a less trigging place, since everyone was further along with meals compared to the kids in the other dining room. Most of the trigging aspects happened in the red/yellow room. Kids would have to walk out because of the comparative and upsetting environment, which they payed for by drinking supplements and the mental turmoil they are unable to escape from.If you are considering sending your kid here, please be mindful. This place doesn’t run like clockwork, nor is it able to accompany the needs of any child successfully without adding extra pressure and stress. Meals would either run late or early, clinicians and dietitians would sometimes leave for breaks without any way to contact them. Any form of information about rules and guides had to be gathered through observation or learning the hard way. You have an issue with the dislikes list? Need to talk to your therapist about a problem with another kid? Some troglodyte gave your vegetarian kid chicken? Good luck. That’ll take 3 more days of waiting before anything actually gets done.To make a long rant short: consider your child’s needs first. This program only cares about checking off the boxes from a ‘are they recovering?’ List. And no, when I was there I wasn’t recovering. I was doing anything I could to get the hell out of there. Because mental health is worth more than waiting for a bed at residential.
