I went in today because I passed out. I was seen immediately. Everyone was professional. Nurse Tameka was awesome and she made me feel very comfortable. I’m happy that I chose this hospital to have my son here! I was born here when it was DeKalb General.πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ˜‚ But thank you all for the great care!

This had to be one the best experiences my FAMILY has ever had dealing with a hospital and child birth. The nurses made my wife feel so comfortable and went out of their way to make sure she had the best experience. I can’t say enough. Big shout-out and thanks to Nurse Irene she is the BEST a total sweetheart. She was PERFECT. Nurse Patricia was AWESOME with the epidural. The Midwife Antoinette was so helpful and was great for my wife. She catered to all of her needs in an expeditious fashion. The Triage Nurse Elizabeth was so SWEET. She learned about my wife and made sure epidural pain meds any concern was handily expeditiously. I LOVED my experience here. Never judge a book by its cover. They have a great group of people working here and my family really is thankful and very appreciative of their service. Thank you guys once again πŸ’―πŸ’ͺπŸΎπŸ˜‡

The antepartum nurses are amazing and made me feel safe as a patient. They checked in on me, made sure I was hydrated, and comfortable. They made my long term stay less stressful and they answered any question I had pertaining to my care.

Overall the experience was okay. Its clean and quiet. The nurses were all nice. They just move really slowly unless youre in labor. The midwife was awesome. S/O to Julia. Security is a serious issue. There are cameras of course, but I couldve easily gained access to any patient room and wreaked havoc if I was a crazy person. Night security isnt much better. The security personnel in the Labor and Delivery office have really bad attitudes. They acted like it was such a terrible inconvenience to even answer a simple question. I was ready to square up, but I didnt have the time that day. Anyway, I guess you just have to pick your poison with these things.

I had a very good experience at this facility. The staff was professional from the time I walked in the door, til I left 3 days later. I would recommend this facility.Oh, yes, my daughter gave birth to both her sons here and thats why I chose this facility, when I needed, major surgery , years later. Thanks to all the nursing staff, for all you do.

I wish I had chosen a better hospital.... I spent 3 days being induced and not being attended to... I only had someone enter my room about every 6 hrs.... no food... no answers just waiting... when I finally made it down to active labor and delivery I still sat there for 6 hours until they decided to start anything... once my child was finally born they didnt even have anyone take pictures... overall this birthing center is just as bad as the emergency room... I will never go back to this place for anything! Completely ruined my birthing experience

Scheduling is horrible as we waited an entire day to be seen and told our appointment had time changed twice without notice to us. Most of the staff and nurses seem incompetent and when questioned gave mixed messages. Google was a big help as we couldnt take their word. At least 2 nurses and esthetician seem to keep an attitude when wed ask legitimate questions. No one could tell us which doctor was on call as we were given 3 doctors which all were wrong. Equipment was out dated as the staff informed us oddly enough. Epidural was administered but, nurse left the room for hours as bag emptied. My wife began to feel pain again. Finally when the nurse returned she tells my wife you dont feel pain just pressure. I looked at her oddly. How do you tell someone what they are feeling. We will not be back and definitely let the higher ups at Dekalb know whats going on. Consider going to another hospital if you want better care.

I am not one who writes reviews but, please do not go here to deliver your little bundle. I went here due to severe cramps in my abdomen and was greeted by a rude nurse who threw my blankets at me. Also, there was a woman in the next room pleading to be taken to another hospital, as a response, the nurses laughed and told her to take her a** on then.Long story short, without being checked the doctor (who obviously had better places to be) said it was just my baby kicking. I responded by telling him I never felt pain from my little one kicking before. (Mind you, contractions were showing up on the screen) After this, they did a very quick ultrasound and diagnosed me with Placenta Previa (which I later found out that I was misdiagnosed) and the icing on the cake was when I asked him (the doctor) what Placenta Previa was, he responded with......look it up on google. Yep, thats what he told me.It turns out (after going to the wonderful Northside to get a second opinion) I was in pre-term labor.I urge you to steer clear of this hospital.Have a lovely day.

This hospital is terrible! My sister had her baby here and she needed help with her and the nurse Elisa said she had other patients to see! They also was making it seem like she had to breast feed instead of pumping or forulma. When she called for a nurse they never came in a reasonable time. The discharge doctor told her she needed to use dove soap only and when questioned that her sister used dail soap after c section when her baby was delivered at Piedmont he said well Piedmont is wrong. I have never got treated this terrible at Piedmont. This was an unnecessary comment to make and a little bias and shouldnt be putting down another hospital. Also, I asked if they did the foot prints of the baby and got told no and hospitals havent done that in a long time which is false considering I had It done through Piedmont Fayetteville 2 years ago. She asked for a towel and never got it. Most of the nurses were very bossy to her. I just hope nobody gets treated like my sister got treated there! This is unnecessary to have such a rude, awful staff.

First of all would like to say that KAROLYN RODGERS from dekalb women specialist is awesome shes the only person in that hospital besides my family that had faith in me and that was patient with me. I got induced on July 3rd 2017 didnt have my son until the 5th i was in labor for 47 hours i came in the hospital with my mind set of having a natural delivery which includes no C SECTION. Yes of course i had a hard labor but when i tell you those people were trying to force me to get a c section they were trying to find every reason to cut on me and then one of the ladies was talking on her cell phone talking me talking about she tired and ready to go home and i just need to get a c section because my baby wasnt gone come out naturally. After 40 hours i gave i told them go ahead and cut me my mom and ms Rodgers was like wait what no you got this. KAROLYN RODGERS took over the show with 6 hours of pushing my baby boy came out with the help of her that women motivated me the whole time she was patient with me and most importantly had faith in me. She is the whole reason why i gave them 4 stars, and when i went for my 6 week check up i asked her do you remember me she said how could i forget she said you are a very strong women i could never forget that experience that i went through with you. She said most people cant handle pain for that long with their first child but you were great. My labor story is truly a testimony. I tryed to make the story as short as possible but its way more than that.

This mf crusty ass ran thru ass hospital dont even deserve a half of star! First they wouldnt give me pain meds while i was in active labor! I was having contractions for 3 hrs before they gave me any pain meds then Finally gave me a epidural when i was 8cm dilated. Baby slid out not even a hr after i got epidural Food horrible i ordered a Ceasar salad these mfs put ranch on my salad! Breakfast was cold no real menu the nutritionist wrote extra food items on the menu very tacky. The bed was dirty and the lights in my room were not properly working an engineer came in while i was breastfeeding to fix problems and was staring at me. This is and was the WORST hospital visit i ever had! Unprofessional staff and alot of Africans heard all they drama when i called to order lunch...jus ratchet and deplorable. The head Chef Robert Marvin should know better and do better DO NOT HAVE BABIES HERE! Best to go to EMORY CRAWFORD LONG OR NORTHSIDE . THE SERVICE HERE SUCK! I HATE I CAME HERE AND DELIVERED MY BEAUTIFUL BABY! Pure waste of time and insurance! 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑 no bueno dirty and dissatisfying! To make my birth experience more tramautizing they didnt properly document my baby no foot prints no bath for my baby til almost 12hrs after i delivered her, no nursery i did not get any rest whatso ever. Then to add insult to injury they called DFAC on me for not leaving fast enough. I delivered my baby friday 12-15 @ 9pm they kicked us out the hospital Sunday 12-17 @4pm! Im filing a report for pain and suffering and mistreatment during my stay!

So far so good of an experience. Im 37 weeks preggers. Ive been to the Ob meet and Greet, the newborn baby class and the breastfeed classes offered at this facility and all of them have been great experiences. I even did the tour of Womens Center. I observed very clean bathrooms, the hall ways were always clean and open. The friendly staff have no problem guifing you to the right rooms. The instructors of the classes are open for questions. They share their experiences and provide great tips. The tour guide was very informative in letting our group know to bring our own pillows and comfy items bc hospital beds are not comfy.Security always welcomed me when I walk in the building. They also know where most classes are located and are also open to answering any questions about the facility.Im having my labor and delivery here and hoping all goes well. So far so good.P.SAfter the classes, the instructor usually wants you to do a survey on surveymonkey. The link never worked on my phone. Usually it works on iphone but not Android type phones.I hope this review helps anyone interested in Dekalb Medical in Decatur. I will be posting a review after my baby is born. God bless and good luck

Been here 8 hours and still no doctor and Im 30 weeks pregnant. This is ridiculous. Been in excruciating pain, nothing to eat, water no nothing. Im scheduled to have my child here but Ill rather travel 10 hours to go back to Va. At least they care about their patients. Ill take the risk of having my baby in a car anything then be here in this death trap.
