There arent words to describe my thankfulness to this place. My cat died very suddenly, and I had Blake to help me handle it. He was so kind and understanding. I know now from him and the creamator (I wish I knew his name), both of which gave me a hug, that my cat will be taken care of. I understand that their job is hard, and I will forever recommend them. It was so personable and understanding. It made this horrible event so much more reassuring. Thank you guys, so much.

Melissa did a wonderful job preplanning my family members funeral. After he passed the service from her and the whole staff was exceptional and professional. They kept the atmosphere positive so everyone wasn’t so sad. From beginning to end we had a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

The best funeral home in town. The moment I walked into the building Dave and his team are extremely professional, attentive, patient, friendly, just simple outstanding. They explained the entire process and what one needs to know during one of the most difficult times of one’s life. Staff always show compassion. Melissa and her team are great if you are looking ahead for pre-arrangements. They make this process understandable and I know that by making my pre-arrangements my family will not have the burden of my arrangements when the time comes.

I have had two reasons recently to work with the wonderful folks at Graceland Fairlawn. Both during Covid. My grandmother passed away, and everyone at Graceland made the process seamless and easy. More recently, my family decided to place a marker for my mother who passed in 2014. I was fortunate enough to work with Amy for this and she was just incredible. From helping us select a plot, to understanding our wishes and helping with the design, to sending beautiful pictures of her marker; Amy consistently went above and beyond for me and our family.

Last year Melissa Stanley at Graceland-Fairlawn did an amazing job of helping my mom preplan her funeral arrangements. She was very patient with my mother’s many questions and respected exactly what she wanted. Melissa was very transparent with the cost of each service, even providing options/cost for outside providers. I was very pleased with the whole experience given that this caused a great deal of anxiety for my mother and Melissa did everything she could to ease that anxiety for her. My brother and I are greatful that when the time comes we know everything will be taken care of and exactly how my mother wanted it.

Graceland has a long history of providing excellent service and being a leader in funeral services in Decatur. I recently made my pre-planning choices and Riska was very good to work with. She has a calm demeanor, lots of knowledge, and made it a comfortable process.

Tyler Titgen may be relatively new to this area but you would never know that by his level of knowledge in his profession and ability to convey what services are available at Graceland-Fairlawn. We already owned plots and had paid for a monument and some services but we were interested in seeing if we might convert that to entombment in the mausoleum or cremation and a columbarium resting place. Tyler spent several hours with us on multiple days giving us all the information, pricing and answered all our questions. He gave us the time we needed to think and ask more questions and consult with our family. After a lot of thought we decided to keep the family plots. Even after all the leg work Tyler had done for us he was happy to help us get the pre-purchased monument ready for engraving. We did not make any additional purchases and he was just as attentive and personable as he was throughout the entire process. He is a gem and feels like a friend to my husband and me. We recommend Tyler for any needs you may have.

Not very professional. Slack on getting the work done in a timely manner I do understand we get busy but don’t say my love one obit will done at or on a certain day and it doesn’t happen. Then when I try to email or call I might or might not get a response. I’ve dealt with this company before but don’t think I’ll be returning.

This funeral home is the best ever.. I have lost several friends, my grandma, and my dad in the past 3 years and Amy marshal has helped me so much get thru my difficult times. Also she sat with my gma until our family arrived just because I said I didnt want her to be alone till we got there. Even calling me months after the funerals to check on me and c if I needed anything. Not to many people can say they have a friend at a funeral home but I definetly do.... thank u Amy for being there for my family n I ❤

Today (June 11, 2016) I attended my beloved Aunt Sheri Dianes visitation and funeral. Just as I took my seat I was rudely approached by a Graceland-Fairlawn employee named Ron Price. He loudly demanded to speak with me so I followed him to the back of the room. He proceeded to inform me that my Aunts son had asked him to escort me out and that I would be an issue.. This employee stood there accusingly asking if I was going to be a problem and he did all this while family members looked on. What this man didnt realize is that my Aunts son is simply a bitter vindictive person and had no validation in his request to have me leave. His mother and I were extremely close and she considered me to be like a daughter to her. She would have been sick if she had seen this happen today at her funeral of all places. I managed to keep my composure and respond that of course I would not cause any problems. The employee Ron Price stood there for another moment as if to drag this embarrassing scene out as long as he possibly could and told me he will let me stay but I better not cause any issues AND he forced me to sit all the way in the back by the door. So after spending all week crying over losing my Aunt I am then treated like garbage at her funeral when I was one of the people who was the closest to her. She would have never made her final arrangements with this business if she would have known how her loved ones would be treated. I left the service early and chose to skip the burial afterwards because of this and went back later after hours to say my goodbyes. When my family heard how he treated me they called and confronted this man and he replied by saying thank you for calling and hung up. I will be pursuing this further on Monday morning and will never again use this funeral homes service.*UPDATE* My mom and Grandmother ended up going to speak with a manager personally and was given an apology and a bag of gifts with my Aunts photo on a candle holder, etc.I appreciate the gesture but it certainly didnt take back the poor treatment during one of the roughest moments in my life. Above everything my Aunt Diane deserved to be given more respect at her own funeral. She was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known and it’s absolutely unacceptable to treat people like this when they’re already dealing with losing a loved one.

Sent me an extremely insensitive letter saying that I had been selected for a complimentary space in their cemetery. Like losing a loved one is the same as getting a free toaster.I understand trying to help the community. If you want to do that then set up a fund to help families that may not be able to pay for these needs. Dont send me a coupon to bury my loved one for free like they are a commodity. Its insensitive, rude, ignorant, and absolutely tone deaf to the current climate.

We have been decorating my loved ones’ graves at Fairlawn Cemetery for more than 60 years. Our family has always found the cemetery well maintained until this year. The cemetery was not mowed or trimmed. It was a mess. We found many people had brought their own mowers and trimmers to care for their families plots. We live a distance from Decatur and did not have this option. And we should not have to do this anyway, as this cemetery charges for perpetual care. We find this quite disrespectful. When I called to inquire about this I was told the maintenance supervisor was aware of it, they had had many complaints and that they were working on it. It was a beautiful day and no one was on site “working on it”. We are very disappointed in Graceland/Fairlawn this Memorial Day weekend.🇺🇸 We expect and pay for better from you.

Strictly Business. Good People. Just not top of the line Service. Top Ten Central Illinois Has to Offer. Not The Best Management. Honestly. No disrespectful on my behalf and family. Done business three times in the past 25 years. They definitely need more structure and an Ethics Course. Sad to say they are the Best in Central Illinois..... People are litterly dying when they meet This Establishment.... BTW, I plan on resting in peace here. Please dont call me a hypocrite... #2019 #Peace

Preneed, 2013...7500.00 Requested return several years ago...still waiting for what is law in ILLINOIS...plus interest held in Texas by Northstar which they have profited from. I have one more option. 2020/ never received money back! My option: cremated all family put in a plastic bag and paper box and take home until we pay for 2 lots out of town! All my family is buried in Graceland. It is my opinion never pay pre-need services from Graceland Cemetery! I paid 3250 approximately for burial site. I was sent a document for me to sign giving them back the property for $ 1.00! I have maintained every document. I requested from North Star and Graceland to provide signed return checks I received. None produce! Why because I didnt get one! Sent all information to Lisa Madigan State Attorney of Illinois. The office sent me the reply from Graceland. It stated in a letter to the States Attorney if you dont understand this call us to explain! Its a personal decision to choose Graceland so no comment in that regards.

I and members of my family have had many experiences with Graceland since 1968. They are very cordial, compassionate, warm, understanding and respectable in handling families of the deceased. They are ready to help ease the burden of laying your love one to rest. The people who work for Graceland make you feel like you are their family by the time you walk out their doors. I highly recommend the Graceland/ Fairview Mortuary. God Bless, Veronica Fisher Downard

Melissa Stanley and her associates at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home were very helpful in arranging the funeral arrangements for my wife and I. She assisted us in the selection of our caskets, inscriptions on our headstone and bench, and the coordination of a memorial service at our present location in OFallon, IL and a grave-side service in Decatur, IL. My wife and I were both very satisfied after our meeting with her and her associates.
