Wow, this financial institution is Awesome, just due to the people who work there...Laura (Manager) is Totally Awesome, her extremely friendly attitude wins you over immediately, very knowledgeable she is, and will do all she can to assist you. Her very well trained tellers (Ashlyn. Ananda, Marrisa,...etc)(ex-tellers..Preston & Anna) all have the Friendlys/best customer service attitudes...they learn your name and greet you with it...they are multi-trained...I have been a customer since 07/2018, its the best place that I have ever banked...they even have sister branches in others states...so if your planning to relocate, like me...you dont have to worry about closing your acct.s...I thought that was great...I see no reason to ever bank elsewhere...I love it here.❤

Opened a new account today and was very impressed with their customer service. Very nice and inviting atmosphere. Sarah C. Was the representative that assisted me. CD rates were very competitive . Gave them 5 stars today because this is my only experience thus far.

I have had my account for two months and my debit card looks fake, and my first card stopped working for a sketchy and unknown reason. Although the rewards system seems nice, I don’t know if it worked when I tried to use it. I cannot deposit cash at the atm which is inconvenient being that I rarely have time to go to the bank during hours. There also isn’t a convenient way of looking into my account because they don’t have an app. The people and service is nice but doesn’t outweigh the issues I’ve had.

Always friendly and helpful whenever I am there. Only fault I have experienced is the less than convenient phone system. Whenever I want to contact local branch, still have to go through a central main office first.

The problems I’ve had at 1st Midamerica Credit Union are still unresolved. I purchased a vehicle in the spring directly from the owner. The person who processed the loan did not seem to know what he was dealing and kept making excuses about the computer system and other employees in charge of related duties. Couple of months after to purchase, I received license tags in the mail from the state. I called 1st mid-America asking why I hadn’t receive them because I had asked them to transfer my old plates to my new vehicle because they were only a couple of months old. Of course they had no record of that and told me there was no way they could change the situation. They call it that the DMV and perhaps they could be corrected through them. So I ended up buying plates that I didn’t need. Then I received a letter in July from the Illinois Internal Revenue Service telling me that the taxes were past due on the vehicle I had purchased. I had the taxes included into the total loan forthe vehicle. It was 1st MidAmerica’s responsibility to pay the taxes. I called them and they said that they had paid them sometime in June. I asked that they verify with the IRS that they have received the payment and was assured that they would. Then, I received another letter from the Internal Revenue Service indicating that my paymrnt was past due and a penalty had been added with plans to send me to collections. I contacted the credit union again and they sent me a copy of the cashiers check proving they had paid. I sent it to the IRS. Yesterday, November 16th, I received another threatening letter from the IRS. I phoned 1st MidAmerica and asked for their help. I asked that they call and sort this out. I was told no, they couldn’t do that because these were related to my social security number. I explained that I didn’t have time to wait 20+ minutes on hold to wait to talk to the IRS (I tried twice and waited over 20 minutes before getting cut off). The response was that they’d have to wait that long too! I told them I didn’t care, this was their mistake, not mine, why shouldn’t they wait on hold instead of me! They followed up with a phone call asking me to send me copies of the letters from the IRS. So there is still no resolution and even though the workers are polite and friendly, no one has really been helpful. I’ll never deal with them again and I’m transferring the loan.
