I was very disappointed with the tent camping sites at Point Mallard. There are 6 of them and all are the worse we have encountered. They are located in a busy RV park and there is around the clock vehicle noise every night. The tent camping is located along a busy road and by the dumpsters and you hear loud trucks all night long. The noise is non-stop since this is a large RV park. On top of that the area is infested with ants. Since it’ also by the dumpsters there are raccoons. everywhere so you have to put everything up even in the daytime. We took the BoyScout troop there this past weekend and have to say we will never be back. There are far better options. You would think with all the land the park has they could put together some better tent camping.

We have been here a little over a week now, and I have to say, this is one of the BEST campgrounds we have stayed at! It’s very quiet, everyone is friendly, it’s clean and beautiful! They have great bike trails, golf course, they have a small store with some essentials, laundry site, great prices, walking areas, pet friendly, spacious sites that come with a fire pit, and picnic table. They do trash pick up everyday 3 times a day. For now they have several areas closed (showers, bathrooms, swimming, etc), but they have so much to offer! They are constantly cleaning and working on the grounds, the permanent campers decorate for the holidays very nicely and are super friendly. If you come here or go anywhere else to camp, PLEASE keep your area clean! So everyone can enjoy these wonderful and beautiful places!

What can I say is a campground way too expensive and does not accept tents RV campers fifth wheels whatever Etc me personally I like to Camp in a tent so its like real camping I like to sleep where I can hear the bugs chirp and see the stars if I wanted to sleep in luxury I would have just got on and got a hotel not a $80,000 camper LOL Im not complaining on what people like some people like that kind of camping and that is okay Im just speaking my opinion on what I like in my expectation and it is perfectly fine people like to Camp like that is there alive but its not for me I like the real outdoor gritty sleeping in a tent campfires cooler of beer hot dogs over the Open Fire solar shower real outdoor camping Ill give them four stars for the campground but for Point Mallard exhibits such as the swimming pool ice skating rink the football fields batting cage golf hiking trail that is all pretty cool and gets 5 stars but thats a whole nother area were talkin about the camping area which gets four stars because thats just me and what I think about it it doesnt matter what other people think everyone wants what they locked and I mean no disrespect by anybody that likes to sleep in campers its just not for me at least the campground area but they still get a 4-star rating because its cool that Decatur has at least one spot out of town or in town people can pull through and get a break from the real life but if you want my opinion go a little further out the way to Clear Creek or Brushy Lake thats real camping in my opinion.

This is my first time staying here. It’s a pretty nice campground. It seems to have a lot of seasonal/ full timers living here. Most ever site is kept clean with the few exceptions where campers are run down and the site is kinda trashy. The lot sizes vary so be mindful of that. You can’t reserve a specific campsite either. When you check in you ha e to drive around looking for the spot you want that’s open. This isn’t ideal as I like knowing what I’m getting into prior to arrival. While staying here they left a notice on everyone’s door stating there will be no more permanent sites. You can’t have porches or any permanent structures after January 1 2021. They will allow you to stay for a max of 179 days in a single spot. There are certain areas that you can stay a max of 2 weeks which is nice.I would most assuredly stay here again if I’m in the area.

Nice campground but when we reserved the site they made no mention of bath house closures for over a year. We only planned on staying one night and I winterized my trailer in Florida and cannot use the bathroom in the trailer. Excessive cost and no rest rooms.

Nice, quiet park. Very friendly staff. Great amenities - trash pick-up, propane refill, laundromat, convenience store/gift shop, pet-friendly, access to baseball fields, golf course, soccer fields, paved running trails and beautiful scenery. Long-term area was full, while short-term area had plenty of vacancy (in January).

They WAY overcharge for a campground with no amenities. No pool, playground equipment is outdated and very sad. New rules for long term camping are ridiculous. However, the people that work there are the nicest people you will ever meet! So helpful and friendly, they will bend over backwards to accommodate you.

We had an amazing stay at Point Mallard! I even locked myself out of my camper twice and the host ladies were so gracious to convince me that it happens to everyone and then they called Scott to bring a Master Key to unlock my camper door for me. Plenty of walking trails and bike paths! Thank you, Point Mallard! Will return soon!

Lots have good space but its a bit over priced for the quality. For the price this camp should be paved and have more amenities. The laundry facility has many machines out of order and there is only about three washers and three dryers for a camp so large.

Great place to stay, especially if you need a long term stay. Very accommodating. They seemed to have issues with washers/ dryers frequently during our stay for about 2 months, so I typically went to a laundromat, which was just fine with me. Friendly staff, beautiful park. Easy and quick access to walking/biking trails and some beautiful areas by the river. Love their weekly/monthly rates as well - not something we see everywhere and we are full timers in our camper. Would recommend staying here - we plan to each time we come back to the area.

Nice Clean campground. I stayed on a Friday night, it was very quiet. You can tell some of the campers are long-term, but seems like a little community. I will definitely stay again . Only negative is WiFi is a little week, but hey your camping so not a big deal. The water park is just across the field so you have that available.

Review №29

Its an ok place. It is more of a trailer park actually. Im guessing 90% of the campsites are used by people staying LONG term. The RV spaces are about as close to one another as I have ever seen. Some of the RVs are just parked by owners who live in the area who come occasionally. The area is kept clean. People are friendly. The wifi is non-existent really. Nice laundry. DONT EXPECT TO USE THE RESTROOMS OR SHOWERS they are all closed for your protection. The price has however stayed the same. All the sites are 50 amp.

We love camping here, great for families. Considering water sewer and electric is included their monthly rate is reasonable. The walking trail by the river is accessible here. The waterpark is right there. However it is nearly impossible to get a spot because so many people live here. If you dont get in before Memorial Day you can forget getting a spot all summer unless you know someone staying there or you check frequently for people leaving. I wish they had a time limit like most campgrounds do(most state parks and tva campgrounds have a 2 week limit) or at least make one section long term and leave the other section for short term to give everyone a fair chance at enjoying the campground.

Best thing this place has going for it is close proximity to the waterpark, nice bike trails and golf course. Downsides are the tent camping stinks. Poorly laid out area, close to trash cans that has constant traffic by 100s of golf carts throughout the day. This was also probably the loudest campground Ive ever been to due to the large number of rv sites and golf carts going everywhere. Probably decent place if you have an rv but avoid like the plague if you have a tent.
