Called ahead to see if they carried what I was looking for. A real person answered and was sweet, professional and knowledgeable. Was greated when I walked in and immediately shown to my item. At checkout just enjoyed the visit. Will shop there from now on. Thank you ladies.

Recently I had my first unfortunate experience in the Decatur Ulta. The gentleman hairstylist came over to help my son and me. We were having fun and enjoying our day out. I mentioned in passing to the gentleman that I had worked at this Ulta several years ago. I am actually proud of this; I love Ulta; I have worked at the Bridge Street location as well. When I asked him about a hair masque he asked me what did I want it to do. I told him I just wanted one that would condition my hair. He responded, Well, Sweetheart, if you worked here you should know there are many different types of hair masques. He did not say, sweetheart in an endearing tone, but with snarky, rude, and condescending tone. I will admit I dont know a lot about hair masques. I had extensive training on skincare, but never on any hair products. Though, now as a customer I just needed help without the extra commentary. I found what I needed by reading the products and actually found in the hair brand which is my favourite. As I waited patiently in line there was one cashier and an issue with a gift card with the customer in front of me. I was in no hurry at all. When it was my turn I purchased several other products as well as my hair masque which rang up as a penny. I continued to tell them that my $38 masque was ringing up as a penny. I even went back and got other bottles to see if I could assist them and not hold up the line. When the 2nd and 3rd masque rang up as a penny they determined it was gift for purchase product. I then told him I would buy something else in this brand to ensure the penny product rang up correctly. The gentleman hairstylist who is apparently also a manager with his rudeness escalating, told me there is no gift for purchase now. (No soup for you!) He found a way to charge me the full amount for my hair masque. I reported his rude behaviour to the store manager and called the District Manager as well. (apparently he should have allowed me to purchase something else and charge me a penny for the masque according to the DM). The store GM called me and told me to please come in and they would correctly handle my purchase. I wasnt trying to get a gift for purchase in the first place, but it was evident that he was not going to allow me to get this deal even though it continued to ring up as a penny. I could have walked out and paid only a penny for the hair masque after the first time they rang it up. I have not returned to Ulta Decatur and I have no plans to return to this Ulta. (I told the manager I would gladly return if the gentleman handled my return with kindness and told me that he had made a mistake. I was informed that the manager would handle it because they had certain rules to follow about these matters.) There was no true reconciliation. Unfortunately this is why Amazon does so well. I can order anything from Amazon that I can buy in Ulta and it will be on my doorstep in two days. I can avoid such rudeness from a snarky sales clerk. When I worked at Ulta we were sweethearts. We loved helping people who had no idea what they wanted or needed. We created relationships and made our clients want to return. We considered it our pleasure to help our clients. With the pandemic and the rise of online shopping, brick and mortar retailers need to work on their people skills. Perhaps the hairstylist needs to stay behind the chair instead of pontificating about product knowledge. Listen to your customers. Make them feel welcome. I write a lot of reviews and most all of them are 5 star and glowing. I love to celebrate people! Ulta-Decatur is now less than one star in my opinion.

Associates are hit and miss with with helpfulness and knowledge of products and what is in stock. Salon stylist seem to be least helpful...one gentleman styles did not hide his disdain for me asking about hair color products in the store that I could do myself...I understand the quality difference between box dye and professional dye but I cannot afford the luxury of sitting in a chair for hours, mid-pandemic. The three stars are mostly for the employees; product and company as a whole is fine. If you know what you want and can find it in stock then you cant complain about that.

The staff is always super helpful. If youre looking for a product and they seem to be out of it, ask because they may have some in the back that they havent had time to stock yet.

I had a pick up order and I had ordered the wrong item and I needed to exchange .The cashier couldn’t pull up my order because it’s wasn’t in the system yet. The manager came over was so nice and helpful. She got everything done quickly.

This store had a lot of really good gift items. The cashier was very nice and the store was clean and well organized.

The manager of Ulta in Decatur Alabama is awful. she is extremely rude and hateful. She requires a ton of training and lacks customer service. I will take my business to Madison or Huntsville Alabama.

I visit this Ulta all the time for makeup and hair products, and their staff is consistently so helpful and knowledgeable! They really help you find what product is best for you, not necessarily what product is most expensive. They’ll even let you know if there’s a better product at a cheaper price for your needs, than the more expensive one you have in your hand. I also appreciate how their staff isn’t up my butt when I come in, but they’re around if I need them. Thank you Ulta Decatur :-)

I’ve been going to this Ulta for several years. Cheryl is absolutely the best stylist I have ever had. My hair was very damaged when I began going to her. She recommended wonderful products and has helped get my hair looking healthy again. She is very knowledgeable and professional at all times!!! Thank you for such great service!!! I have also had great service at the brow counter thanks to Elizabeth. Excellent customer service!!!

I would give 0 stars but thats not an option. I was in line four people deep with one check out person. Her name is Lauren. After spending more time in line than the time to locate my products I asked Lauren to please get another clerk. I said pardon me when I passed Lauren to pay I said thank you 3 times and she ignored me and was rude. Courtesy works.

I walk with a cane. Apparently, my cane means to the staff at Ulta that I have no business in the store. They have literally stood and watched me struggle getting in and out of the door, and not offered to hold the door for me. Once I get inside, they will walk away from me instead of offering assistance. Here is a note to your employees:. Walking with a cane, a walker, crutches,etc -- IS NOT CONTAGIOUS!!! Because I have mobility issues DOES NOT MAKE ME POOR OR STUPID!!! I am a viable customer, and can afford to shop in your store!!!

I searched online and item was posted at store. I had to wait over 10 min to ask the cashier where I could find the item. I was next in line... However, the cashier thought it was more important to try to cross sell and push the Ulta credit card to customers than to actually assist customers.

I have never walked into this store without a very warm welcome. I am always in the store for way more time than I plan on initially bc of all the wonderful things they have displayed. The store is very organized and clean. Its my favorite place to shop for myself and others. I am so happy that we have an Ulta in our area. The people who are hired to work this store have always been more than helpful, they are knowledgeable about the products and if ever I have any question that they do not know, within a couple of minutes they have found someone who has my answer. Thank you Decatur Ulta for being a great place for me to shop.

The people who work here are always so knowledgeable and patient. This is probably the best Ulta in North Alabama. Theres almost never wait for the line, and its the cleanest and most organized.

I was there Saturday and received great service. I went back on Monday to get an item that was specially priced. There was no product up front so I asked the young lady at the register if they were sold out. She said yes without even looking up at me. Ignoring customers is not good for sales.

Had a color correction (blonde) at Ulta salon done by Allison, and she did a great job and was very pleasant and professional. Bought some new makeup too, and the young lady who helped me with that was very knowledgeable and nice. Overall a great experience. I love Ulta!

I am giving all stars because the store alone is GREAT ! The employees and all are great. But I went to the salon part and got my hair cut, dyed, styled and all and I normally dont do this. But I am very unsatisfied my hair is cut way shorter than I wanted and Ive now got dye all over my ears, head an face and the color is not what we discussed. I also got my brows an lip waxed and she done an absolute great job and very happy with how my eyebrows turned out.

Spent about 2 hours plus shopping for cosmetics today. Great customer service. Love my MAC and Urban Decay eye shadows and lipsticks.

The staff is always friendly and helpful. I dont understand why this location never has a majority of the available products for women of color. Its ridiculous. More than one demographic of people live in this area and this location should showcase that fact. Driving to the neighboring city of Huntsville is ridiculous when I just want a matching foundation. Shame on Ulta.

Helped me find a foundation the correct shade and answered all my questions. Never felt rushed or like I was wasting her time. She also helped me when I had questions about different products. 👍🏻

Terrible experience. They left a sale sign up, but then told me it was old and would not honor it after I shopped in that section just for the sale. Then check out was a nightmare. The coupon wouldnt work, which the employees acted like this was my problem. They got even more upset that I backed up the line but why there was only 1 cashier on a Saturday is beyond me. The process would have gone quicker if the associate new the sales and free gifts and didnt have to keep walking away to check the sales and prices. I will not be returning to this location.

My apologies because I didnt get the sweet young ladies name that helped me in Lancome today. She has excellent customer service skills and knows her products very well.She was kind, patient, and answered all my questions. I left feeling like a million bucks. She is a credit to Ulta and the Lancome line.

I love this ULTA. I will drive to this one from Madison instead of going to the one at Bridgestreet just because this one is cleaner and stocked better and employees are nicer.

I will never be back. The service was terrible. I walked up to a lady needing assistance and she just walked away. I had to track an associate down to help me. That was also no help. FYI, they don’t give out makeup samples. When it came to check out, all of the associates were standing around talking and I was left waiting on someone to check me out for 4 minutes. I will gladly take my money to sephora next time!

I stopped by on my lu ch break to pick up some items for my trip and to redeem my birthday gifts what a Horrible experience. The manager had me stand in line for 20 min because she didnt ring my order up correctly for her to stand there and ring it up the same e,act way... and she is a manager! The other lady at the register was also dude and kept rolling her eyes. This is not somewhere I ever wa t to come back k to on my birthday. I have a diamond status here for the 2nd year but I do not get that kind of service here. Very disappointed!

I went to the eyebrow bar but unfortunately my blonde hair is so fine it would not take the coloring. She ended up using a powder and got a bit frustrated that I wasnt a youthful person and working on my issues were time taking. She was trying to be kind but gave up on truly helping me know how to even do my own brows with the powder eyebrow product she sold me. So even if I use the product I have to go with the wild brow moment. She did not try to wax my brow into a nice line that would have framed my face. I was really disappointed because I was going to a funeral a couple states away and while everyone knows I do not wear makeup as a rule I would have really liked my eyebrows to have looked classy. But I wasnt the palette she could use. And because the high-end product would not color my brows for her the adventure fell apart. I bought a brow powder but passed on the $22 tool to apply the powder knowing I could find it at Walmart cheaper. It did come cheaper at Walmart with its own color and I will try that tomorrow and if the brand from Walmart is able to give me color and shape with no problems I no never to bother trying to get pampered at Ulta ever again. Besides their music was so awful it made me want to leave the store. It also made me happy my daughter is beyond the Ulta must have experience and has also realized over the counter brands seem to last longer be truer to color and fit everyones budget. Sorry I vote no on Ulta.
