Kindred Hospice was absolutely wonderful, we only had Genesis & Linda for a short time, they were absolutely the most caring and professional people to my husband in his last days at home. I would highly recommend!!

I am writing this review as my mom nears her end of life. About a week and a half ago she was living in an assisted living facility but was very rapidly succumbing to the unrelenting effects of her advanced cancer. Kindred Hospice was called and at the time they responded very quickly and seemed to be just what was needed. I brought mom home with us 3 days ago knowing she did not have long to live and just wanted her last days/weeks on this earth surrounded by her family and loved ones. Early this morning she became unresponsive and basically seemed to be transitioning to an end of life phase. We called Kindred since we had been told they would be providing continuous care, they specifically said 24/7 care, when this time care. Two nurses finally arrived 3 hours after our call was placed (we placed the call at 7am) and left after 2 hours, stating that someone would come back in the afternoon. Mom was left in her unresponsive state, totally needing 24/7 care. We called them 3 hours later inquiring when we could expect a nurse to arrive, we spoke to the manager and we were told they were short on staff and would send someone soon. By then 5 hours had elapsed, and no one from hospice had returned. We received a call shortly afterwards stating that they were short staffed and were trying to have a nurse from an outside service come over but she would not be available until 8pm. I reiterated that when we first met with them they told us they would be readily available to care for mom when the time came. They said they were sorry but simply could not get staff to cover their needs and would be sending someone by 8pm. I am sorry, but the last thing you need when a loved one is passing is to hear that your loved one cannot be given the medical attention or care they need because of staff shortages. If you are in a similar position, where you need hospice care for a loved one, please, please ask around for a good hospice service. We basically took what moms assisted facility used and are so disappointed and saddened by the service we have received. I will say that the nurses that were here from 10am-12pm were excellent but alas they were only here for 2 hours. Also, moms social worker, Lydia, was very good. I certainly didnt think we were going to have to deal with this on top of the emotional turmoil and sadness we are already going through. Ana Mitchell.
