Never again!!!!!! My sister in law was placed here . And to get her moved another facility lied about having Trach removed. When she arrived at facility yesterday they told us they were informed the Trach had been removed . Now she’s sitting in an emergency room hoping to find a bed. Worst experience ever at this facility .

I have had the opportunity to experience select recently if I could give a zero I would my husband was sent to this facility before I was able to do my research on the place now first things first it took forever to get in contact with my husbands nurses for the day no matter how often they claimed my husband was washed every time I went to see him he was filthy even when down to his bottom having horrible raw skin do to not being cleaned up properly his mouth was filthy and you could just tell that his cares were not being done and when confronted about these things I was met with real unprofessional supervisors and nurses I was told there doing there best then was hung up on several times my husband is finally out of that place and I thank god I’ve experienced that if you don’t be on there case about your family member then they will do the bare minimum if that I was highly disappointed on how they treated and “cared “ for him

Please DO NOT take your loved ones here. My grandmother was placed here before I can accurately research this place. Its basically like a nursing home, most of the staff is temp, dont know anything and wont try to find out unless your on them. There are no doctors just nurse practitioners that get upset b/c you want to know information on your loved ones. My grandmother was actually hit & they tried to imply like it was her imagination but after further investigation she was rough handled as if that made it any better. I hope I never find this person, elderly abuse is real and she wasnt fired...that says a lot about this place.They hate when you call as if it isnt their job to provide info on the patient. Plenty of times she would call for help & no answer or it would take about a half hour. I did witness most of these things and they pretend something is going to be done but isnt. Night staff is the worse, they wouldnt get her upto the toilet..make her lay on a bed pan, have soiled bedding, my grandmother wasnt cleaned at times and the list goes on. We even had a home Healthcare company come in to sit with her to make sure nothing was happening, because it was that bad. I normally dont write reviews, but the poor treatment of my grandmother and this poorly handled facility makes me upset and makes me worry about the next who cant take care of themselves or families cant visit them daily.

The nurses and all of the staff that work here are very professional. Ive been in other hospitals and I have not seen the care like I have here. If you have questions they always will give you a answer. You need anything they are there for you. The place is very clean and kept in a orderly fashion. I have seen nothing but the best here at Select Specialty. I would highly recommend if anyone needed the best care to help to recover go to Select Specialty. This is a wonderful facility that literally saved my dads life. The case worker (Danielle) and the nursing staff are great, caring, and so nice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that needs long term acute care. So, in a nut -shell, this place was a God send to us. Thank you so much❤❤❤

I am so pleased with this facility, the staff, medical care and food is all top notch. I noticed the first week, with staff changes, that all staff members are supportive, smiling and competent. You wont get an instant response to the nurses call button, but your not the only patient, your turn will come. The food and choices are more like a restaurant than what you imagine hospital food to be. The rehab staff is really great, very good at explaining what you are going to attempt, always warning you to sit or stop when YOU need too. They are very attentive, safety oriented and always encouraging. I leave here having met some great people, and hope some friends. The medical staff instills confidence, is on top of every aspect of your care and listens to your concerns. So much better than my imagination pictured it. This is a special hospital, their specialty is great care, great staff and great food.

I remember coming in very sick and received excellent medical care. The staff made me feel good and increased my confidence and faith in recovering from the severe illness. I have made a great progress because of the special care that I received here. I am back on my feet and able to function almost independently. I would highly recommend this place to anybody who needs special care.

The facility thoroughly exceeded my expectations. The staff were all knowledgeable and exhibited very good bed side manners. Assigning the same nurse and aid to me whenever possible increased the efficiency of services provided. During my husbands stay our experience was great.While the building is older it is very well kept and clean.Every department we encountered was very professional and kept us informed. The staff went beyond what was expected. PT and OT was aggressive which is what my husband liked and needed.According to my husband the food was great.The dietary department staff always had a smile on their face and made one feel comfortable. Great team!!We would recommend Select !!

The staff and nurses were very considerate and treated us like it was one of their own. They were very helpful with any of our questions or concerns. They estimated we would be here three weeks and were right on target. We would recommend anybody not be afraid to come here. Excellent care.

I cannot speak highly enough about Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.My 18 year old son was a victim of multiple gunshot wounds so his needs were extensive. The entire staff made every effort to make sure he was cared for. The doctors, nurses, CNA’s, PT/OT staff , case management, dietary, and the CEO too are all knowledgeable and caring people. He’s in a tough spot in life and they ALL took the time to listen to him and get to know him. This has helped him adjust and begin to heal. The cafeteria and housekeeping staff are great and accommodating too.My son came in the door barely able to move and now he is beginning to walk!We are truly amazed and thankful for the entire staff.

I was at Select Specialty Hospital for 3 weeks after being in Peoria hospital for 4 weeks. When I was admitted to Select I couldnt walk or lift my arms, after being there 2 weeks I was able to walk with a walker thanks to Physical therapy. All the nurses and patient techs were wonderful and very attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone in need of help before being able to go home. Thank you Select.

I am 27 and I was in a semi truck accident. I was transferred to select specialty hospital and they helped me recover very quickly. Physical therapy is wonderful here. Staff here is very caring and compassionate. The food is excellent. I would recommend this hospital to anyone in need.

The hospital has been wonderful to us. I have not seen anything like this place in my life. There has not been one person who has not treated us with kindness and care. The food is delicious. They went beyond of what was expected. I would recommend this place to anyone. We cannot say enough good about this place.

They took great care of our Mom while she recovered. My only suggestion would be that they provide better communication to the families regarding the patients care plan. The nurses were wonderful but often overworked and understaffed.

This is per my husband. Not knowing what kind of shape I was in and going home now, I don’t have enough good things to say about this place. All staff was outstanding. Doctors, nurses, therapists, housekeeping, dietary, ambulance crew were above and beyond. I hope that my patients in the Catalab had the exact same experience as I have had it here at Select.

When my wife was transferred to this facility on May 16 from the University Hospital I did not know what to expect. She had had a botched gall bladder surgery on April 19 at one Quad City hospital and a botched repair job at another on April 20 and was then transferred to the University Hospital near death on April 21. She was in the ICU there until her transfer here. She arrived very weak, ventilator dependent and still very very sick. Her chances of survival were slim and she just seemed to be passed around from facility to facility as each gave up. I had lost all hope in medical facilities and medical people. This facility restored that hope with the countless hours and team effort they put in to make her healthy again. The dedication I saw among staff at all levels was incredible. Nurses would go above and beyond to do what they could to make her stay as great a possible. The case manager worked many hours trying to make it all work. CNAs were super to help her feel at ease and help her take her mind off her illness. Respiratory therapists worked around the clock and got her off the ventilator and even off of oxygen which the previous hospital said she would be on the rest of her life. The CEO of the facility would even drop in and visit with her to encourage her. At the end of June she suffered a set back from some complications that began at the University hospital so she was sent back there to correct it and the comparison between facilities as far as patient care was phenomenal. She was neglected there and suffered a serious set back in her recovery. When she returned to Davenport Select Specialty on July 13 they welcomed her back and everyone worked hard to regain lost ground.I can see comments that the facility is old but I can say with 100% certainty it is not dirty. I have spent part of each of my day since April 19 in hospitals and I can say the cleanliness here is the tops. The building may be old but dont judge a book by it cover as the contents here( the people, equipment and philosophy ) are far above excellent. I would love to see each and everyone here that was involved in my wifes care get an award of excellence. I will always believe my wife is alive today( her discharge day August 14 ) because of all of the excellent care she received here and the superb staff. For acute care treatment this place cannot be beat.

Level of care excellent. Caring nature of entire staff not to be beaten anywhere. All needs and requests handled expeditiously to satisfaction. Administration works very closely with patients progress and care needs. A top level facility and a true plus to the Quad Cities and surrounding area.

Everybody has been very friendly and helpful. The food is good. The nurses have explained things well. The doctors have been very nice.

Select specialty hospital is the best place to come. They have a wonderful OT and PT. You will work with Brenda who is the best woundcare nurse. The food is good. The care is wonderful.

I came from Iowa City from a massive automobile accident. The experience here is one of a kind better than a normal hospital experience.I found that the nurses here have a heart of gold from my former dealings in Iowa City. It is a personal one to one relationship.The staff members are always saying hello, asking do you need help with something. The doctors here are warm and they truly listen to your concerns and medical needs.I would have missed out on so much love if wasn’t brought here in February and given a chance to stay here during my recuperating period.Your family member medical needs and your family will find that their stay here is very rewarding and it is a homey place to heal.

A family friend was at Select Specialty Hospital for a few weeks after a major surgery. He was admitted to Select for ventilator weaning and severe deconditioning. Select Specialty Hospital did such a great job that he is now off the vent and is going to an acute rehab hospital where he will receive more therapy. He should be back home in a few weeks! They tell us that hes talking to people thats not there!! When its time to make a decision to Leave then the Facility says he can make his own decisions!!! Horrible Experience

The facility was similar to a plain girl who gets prettier the more you come to know her. The hospital is an older building and definitely lacking in restrooms for non-patients (especially for an older woman with a diet cola addiction). The hospitality and patient concern however, are not lacking, they are abundant. As the wife of a patient who lives about 2.5 hrs away I was given a room of my own. I was also made aware of the inexpensive food & drinks available (I could even have the meals brought to my room). This helped relieve concerns I had as to the expenses I might incurr and let me concentrate on my husband’s recovery.We came to Select Specialty after a month stay in an ICU elsewhere. My husband had two very involved surgeries back to back, pneumonia, illeus (a condition that involves the intestines stopping the passing of matter from one end to the other), close to a week having a ventilator down his throat, plus a condition called ICU psychosis, which meant he had ongoing delusions/hallucinations. I had spent the majority of that time traveling back and forth from home to hospital (close to an hour, one way) and spent the rest of my time watching my husband suffer the effects from all the aforementioned conditions, plus relentless diarrhea, even though he had’nt eaten in an attempt to deal with the diarrhea. I was losing hope.My husband and I were assigned case managers. He was assigned therapists to work on his physical strength and coordination as he had lost both in his long stay and surgeries. There were occupational therapists to help him with day to day living tasks - comb his hair, wash his face, go to the bathroom. There were people to help with his speech, to relearn safely swallowing, eating and drinking, people to helphim get up, stand up, sit down. He had a doctor who kept working on finding solutions to end the diarrhea, to deal with the depression and anxiety that comes from a major event(s) like my husband went through. The doctor listened to my comments, in fact encouraged them. He answered my questions and I never felt belittled. I began to feel hopeful and a weight lifted. Was everything perfect, no. Did I have nurses and aids I preferred, of course. But I saw my husband improve in an atmosphere of concern and professionalism. I consider Select Specialty Hospital real beauty and would highly reommend anyone needing long term care for themselves or a loved one to consider coming here.
