This is seriously the nicest, kindest, best vet I have ever been to! Everyone from the front desk staff to the tech and of course the doctor. They cared for my little guinea pig so sweetly and took their time. They were so detailed and thorough. It feels that they truly care. My little pig has never been so calm and enjoyed his experience like he has here. So both of us were beyond happy.I am so lucky to have found them. Dr. Ashley is who we saw and I trust her completely. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Thank you to everyone at Preston Road Animal Hospital. You all are angels!

I used to have great experiences with Dr. Sue.A few weeks ago Dr. Ashleigh checked my 3-year-old cat for an obstruction and didnt find one. She got his name wrong multiple times when I called to give updates on his condition and ask for advice. It was clear she was not familiar with him.The next day he died of an obstruction. She should have told me this was possible even after not finding one, as Ive since learned this is common, but she did not. He couldnt eat or drink, so the meds they gave me were pointless, but Im on a payment plan for them and getting ads for visits and products. This is incredibly insensitive.I emailed like the below review said but they never responded.Rest in peace, little buddy. Sorry that I took you here. I didnt know they would let us down like this.

Easy access off 635 service road. There is a number to call to check in prior to entering but the guest services team took me and my pet in when we arrived without calling. Plenty of signs for free wifi in the building. Leash your pet in the building if applicable. Remember to stay keep yourself and your animal hydrated if you will be out for any amount of time, especially during the summer months.

It’s the little details that set this place apart for me. It’s one of the few vets nearby that treat exotic animals, so we don’t have a lot of options for our leopard geckos, bearded dragon and blue-tongue skink. Of those we’ve visited, PRAH was the kindest and warmest, especially when talking through things in front of my daughter. They treated her like a young, sensitive adult and were never condescending.A few days after our first visit, they called us to check in — a simple gesture, but other vets just send an impersonal email. And after one of our pets died (one they never had the chance to treat), they sent us a sympathy card signed by the whole staff.None of this is strictly necessary for them to do to have a competent veterinary practice, but it all made a big impact on our family and ensures that we will return again and again.

Since I moved to North Dallas, i have been bringing my 4 dogs to them for general and emergency situations (and with 4, they happen often). The service is great and quite efficient (this was not so good until a few months ago, but they changed their processes and we don’t have to wait long in a room full of dogs). The doctors are very knowledgeable and take the time to talk to us through everything. They have always been able to see my dogs on short notice if need be and are well coordinated with the emergency clinic, which is great too!For other owners, please consider pet insurance, I recommend Healthy Paws.See my puppy! Two years later, I still love Chastain! They keep my 4 monsters healthy and specially bijou happy!

Have frequented this vet with fosters the last four years, from several different rescues not just one. About 70 pets at this vet (maybe more). During that time there has been constant changes in staff (office and vet). It seems they hire newly graduated veterinarians. This can be good and bad. Good is a fresh set of eyes and enthusiasm for animals care. A huge negative is lack of experience and why Im writing this review. It pertains to new vet, Dr Jack and service that wasn’t delivered by him with reasonable care and skill. In and out of rescue there are processes but even more so in rescue. Procedures are set by government for animals in shelter and rescue care before they can go to new owners. Not sure his lack of knowledge on the topic caused this situation but his mistakes, along with repeatedly not returning my messages (no excuse for this) or even contacting the rescue about those messages left about the pets in his care, held up adoption by several additional weeks. Puppies could not go to waiting families because of his oversight and his decision multiple times to not return phone calls (one time 5 days in a row messages unanswered). And while it may not seem like weeks matter - in rescue they do. Shelters are full again and euthanizing for space, each day 7 dogs sit in a foster home because of a vets mistake and lack of communication it means other dogs can not leave the shelter. Death is a high price because of someones lackadaisical attitude and choices. It has always taken a lot of patience to go to this practice. So having patience and grace is not the issue. Each visit youre left waiting for hours and hours, sometimes up to four and five hours, this is consistently. Yes, group of puppies require longer appointments & several visits. So each litter can mean 6- 10 hours of waiting in this office. It is widly know in the rescue world about the long waits with them but they are among (if not the only vet in rescue) Ive encountered that gives puppies vaccinations at 6 weeks. They are popular for that- if it means getting them seen and ready for adoption, thats fine. The previous vets from there (besides long waits) have been fine. The office staff have been fine. But what was experienced with Dr Jack was negligent. At the very end the final straw was after multiple messages equal to week waiting zero response, then twice left messages for the office manager to return call to discuss. No response. Talk about feeling alienated. In hindsight should have immediately reported to rescue to handle but it doesnt discount lack of communication- period. Also give you a tip Dr Jack... Instead of trying to shove each pill down each puppys throat dry with your finger Id recommend doing what other vets do... Get a tongue depressor, a can of wet food and place the pill in a little ball of food, the puppy will usually just eat it up. Easy peasy simple.Really do hope for the sake of other pets that he gets his act together. I base all my foster interactions of how I would want my own pet treated and if someone didnt return my call for 5 days and it prolonged treatment for my personal pet several weeks, Id be very livid. Could not return to this office and in good faith not recommend their practice. Just because animals are a foster doesnt mean they should deserve less, Im only assuming he did what he did because they were fosters? Otherwise why would he give such poor care and not take ownership of his mistakes? Will say Dr Sue is amazing and very caring but only available certain days

While the staff has been very kind to us, I cant recommend them for pet rats because theyre expensive. It was $200 for just an X-Ray. Rat exams are around $75. My rats infected toenail was overlooked resulting in another appointment. We qualified for a free annual exam that they later charged us for. I had paperwork given stating free exam dates that we later disovered were messed up because we had an appointment beyond those dates. But they didnt want to tell us this or warn us. I then asked if we could qualify for one of those free appointments despite not being one of the dates listed, the receptionist told us yes. And then they slapped me with a bill after the appointment and gaslight me on the agreement.

Dakota has experienced some serious paw issues due to her allergies, which began around May 2017. PRAH went above and beyond (they always do!) until we had to visit the ADRC. The communication between Dr Lauren and our dermatologist has been wonderful and weve made progress over the year. ***Verbal contract in Texas is LEGAL***This clinic and hospital is not worth your time. My fiance called about an appointment, and, before the appointment, we were told that the booster and exam was NOT to be charged, yet they charged. (Being that verbal contract is legal in the state of Texas, as aforementioned, we should have been refunded) However, whoever it is that answers the phone for scheduling and informing needs to know exactly they are taking about, what they have said and not deceive, because, from the experience I endured, I found that this clinic is not worth any one persons time and they are NOT to be a trusted source whatsoever. Finding somewhere else to go is not forced, but advised. Should be a LAST resort.

We have been going to Chastain for a while now, they have taken UNBELIEVABLE CARE of our FERRET babies! We rescued two ferrets and they had been mistreated before we ever got them .... they were amazing with our Lucy. She had some unusual medical issues and they did everything they could to save her .... but it was just more than her tiny body could handle. Dr. Sue even gave us her cell phone number to call if we had questions. Our Bear was just an older fella and passed away of old age in his sleep .... but our other six ferret babies are happy, healthy and doing great. The staff was so sweet when we lost both Bear and Lucy ... even though I have never heard of it they offered us information about a support group for the loss of a pet. They even sent us notes about their sympathies for our loss. I think that the staff members are just as important as the doctors and these people are really caring and sensitive.I cannot forget the Reba baby, our dog. She is a young girl (2) and still a pup in a lot of ways. I can honestly say, that these people just make us all very comfortable.

Dr. Lauren and the entire team were beyond excellent with our baby Zoe and with a very nervous mama & daddy. The rating on here only goes to 5 stars, but I give them 10!! From the moment we walked in we were treated with love, compassion and kindness. Zoe is NOT the easiest dog and Heather & Dr. Lauren calmed her down and treated her like their own. When your furry baby is in her final days, special understanding and care is needed because emotions are running high. Dr. Lauren made me feel at peace and went over her bloodwork and ultrasound in full detail so we had absolutely no question about what was going on in her frail old body. She spoke to us with such patience and referred us to an overnight emergency clinic and they were also amazing MedVet - Dallas. She filled their docs in thoroughly on Zoes issues. Was a great veterinary clinic with Dr. Lauren/Loren (spelling?). She was amazing along with the staff that were with her. Never saw any of the other vets because she got so personal with him. We went there for daycare, for everything and concerns specifically only to Dr. Loren. She had amazing bedside manner to build rapport and Id say that she is probably the reason my dog is unafraid of the Vets to this day (any other one than here).Well then we moved, went a lot less frequently (used to daycare him there). The next time he was due for check up/vaccs., totally different vibe you can just feel it when you go in there. there is a full group of new staff who are not friendly at all nor do they try to get to know your dog. Its clearly superficial. Theres a difference and dogs sense that. No longer will I be going here again. They put him on allergy medicine costing me over $150 which did not at all help; he still scratches just as much as before. They want your money trust me.Oh and dont trust what any of them say, theyll tell you oh he doesnt need the extra $50 heartworm test, just purchase the $300 HeartGuard+NexGuard. Me- Oh okay:, upon agreement .. oh sorry shes past the age to where we have to do the exam, uh first of all, I went in saying she was under that age of 9 months. Yet they claim that she seemed and appeared to be older than 9 months. Okay .... p.s. to the owner Sue, get an exterior make over, please it looks like a run down drug house

Ive used this vet a few times with our foster animals and liked the staff. So I decided to give them a try with a kitten that I was in the process of adopting and paid for the bill myself. Their prices were on the high side of average, but what really bugs me is the charge of the medication. They charged me $32.28 for .16ml of a generic pain med, Meloxicam. Do you know how LITTLE .16ml is?So I called to inquire, as generally, a 20-30ml BOTTLE of the branded drug Metacam is that price, so I thought maybe they accidentally charged me for a full bottle. NOPE - they just decided to charge a 125% (did I even do that math correctly) for a generic medication. She tried to explain how the suspension is more expensive but Ive bought Metacam before and had looked up the pricing before I even called. No apologies, nothing. Except my money in their pocket. So while I liked the vets, I feel like they did a GREAT job of ripping me off and cant see myself going here again with my personal business. And I should mention that we have three dogs and three cats of our own for which I was shopping for a new, closer vet clinic. What is that line from Pretty Woman - Big mistake. Big. Huge.

We could go to twenty vets that are much closer to where we live but we drive to PRAH, that speaks volumes. Some people Ive referred to PRAH complain about their prices. I havent been to another vet in so long I cant really comment on that. To me, all vets are expensive. The difference here is that you get what you pay for. Ive had to call after hours on more than one occasion and I was able to talk to a vet. I was never made to feel that I was a nuisance. As far as Im concerned, you cant get better service than that. PRAH is the only place that will not only board her but can handle her. This is a superior quality hospital on so many levels that I could never imagine going any place else.

Dr. Sue, Dr. Julie and everyone at the PRAH are amazing. I found them 13 years ago when my other vet closed early and I was taking my cat to the Emergency Vet. I saw their sign and stopped there instead of going to the ER vet. Im so happy I did!! They love the animals and are extremely knowledgeable. My 16 year old cat, Tigger, was in the final stages of renal disease and Dr. Sue cried with me when he had to be put to sleep. They didnt know him or me but Dr. Sue was very sweet and kind. I couldnt stay in the room when she did the final shot so she picked him up and put him on her shoulder. I walked out of the room and turned around to see him one last time. I noticed she was crying too. Thats my kind of vet. I got another cat, Ebony, and took him right to PRAH. Dr. Sue and Dr. Julie guided me through all the issues that he had (heart murmur, thymoma, crystals in his bladder, tearing off his hair around his wrists, etc.). Saturday night of Labor Day weekend, I had to rush him to the Emergency Vet and found out he had lung cancer (no hope). I took him the next day to PRAH (Sunday), but they had a full schedule. BUT the vet tech, Amanda, said that she would be working at the Emergency Vet later that day. Ebony would have someone that he knew to put him to sleep. Thats the kind of people that work there. They LOVE the animals. I now have a new 5 month old kitten and I took him to PRAH for his first checkup. Dr. Sue called me about Ebony and said that if I needed to talk or had questions that she was available. When I saw Dr. Julie on Saturday, she was very sympathetic and spent some time discussing Ebony. Also, helped me with the new kitten questions, since its been 13 years since I had a kitten!! They are a BIG blessing!!!
