I recently experienced my first birth center birth at Origins after 3 hospital births. Throughout my pregnancy the midwives at Origins were knowledgeable and kind. They knew of several remedies for typical pregnancy ailments like morning sickness and round ligament pain, remedies that my OB had never mentioned. Birth at Origins was very different than a hospital birth. I was asked what I wanted to do, my midwives listened to what was happening to my body instead of assuming based on past experiences. The wonderful midwives at Origins communicated all of my options with me, giving me professional feedback and overall allowing me to make the decision that I felt was best for my body and baby. I was encouraged and supported through labor making my experience joyful and peaceful.

If you just found out about Origins after going to your OBGYN so far for your pregnancy...THE ANSWER IS YES, TRANSFER CARE!!!Everyones journey is different, and mine just so happens to be that of transferring care at 37 weeks pregnant (I gave birth at 41+3 weeks). When we first found out we were expecting our first child, it was a natural instinct to just go to the doctor. As my pregnancy progressed and everything was healthy and normal, my OB started discussing the need for an induction. Mind you...everything had been textbook perfect, and the only reason for an induction was the baby is big. Knowing that both my husband and I come from a family of giants, I expected nothing less of this baby (baby girl came out 9lbs 9oz.)ANYWHO - it was at 37 weeks that I waddled into Origins in Dallas. I was given a tour of the birthing suites and had my list of 30 some-odd questions answered. Eyde was extremely kind and helped me feel confident that this was the place to deliver my first baby. She set me up for a few appointments for the remainder of my pregnancy...one with each midwife so I could get to know them prior to delivering. Each appointment was absolutely amazing. I was continuously asked and reminded of the birth plan that I gave them. They supported all of my decisions and preferences on what Id like my birth experience to be like. As my due date came and went, the midwives, unlike myself, werent afraid at all. They made me feel safe and talked me through all the ways to induce labor naturally.Come the day that labor actually began, they were quick to answer any question I had and were ready for me when I arrived. They let me labor in peace, and came to check on me and the baby every so often. It was never invasive or uncomfortable - they, alone, gave me so much confidence that I was capable of having this natural birth.Once baby entered the world, the midwives (Amy and Jenn) were very attentive to me and the baby. It was perfect that one could focus on me and the other on my baby. Then the bath after birth was SO NEEDED. It was nice to feel like I could clean up all the while enjoying my new moments as a mom.So maybe youre a first time mom and you dont know whether or not a natural birth is for you...be encouraged that your body was made for this! You will have a full team of support, and you will be taken care of! For my own peace of mind, it did help to know there is a hospital within a few blocks from the birthing center. But now that I know what I know...I will 100% use Origins for every future birth!

Our family welcomed our 4th baby at Origins, Dallas location with the help and expertise of the Midwives this year (2021). We were so cared for throughout the birthing experience, during pregnancy, and postpartum. The team is knowledgeable, experienced, and they care deeply for the families in their care. My wishes and preferences were respected and I felt completely safe in their hands. It was wonderful to experience a collaboration between ourselves and the staff. Our other children were present and welcome with us during every step of the journey, proving how much the Origins team value and protect the ideas of true family centered care. I highly recommend them if you are an expecting family in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area!

I transferred later on in my pregnancy and I am so glad I did! I was sent information on how to treat things naturally which I really enjoyed! I love that you get a copy of any labs they run. I loved that I had choices and was able to have the birth that I wanted! I now have a 2 month old and I always tell people how much I enjoyed my labor and delivery! Thank you so much to the Origins Family for the great memories I was able to make!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Origins. I transferred care during my second trimester and it was the best decision. Amy was very patient and helpful answering all my questions that led to the decision to completely transfer care. We loved getting to meet each midwife and midwifery intern during our appointments. We got to know each midwife so well, I knew we could trust anyone on the team with the birth of our sweet girl. The Origins space is so welcoming, you feel relaxed and excited for appointments rather than anxious. The environment, staff and scheduling truly set Origins apart. Each midwife takes the time to answer any questions, make you feel comfortable and cared for, and it just seems to come naturally. Their scheduling is incredible - a few minutes is the longest we’ve waited for an appointment. They are punctual and also manage to spend plenty of time with each patient without making you ever feel rushed. They also helped us navigate insurance coverage, making that process much less stressful. They were also incredibly helpful referring us to other providers that made my pregnancy, birth experience, and postpartum period markedly better - our doula, pelvic floor therapist, placenta encapsulation specialist, chiropractor, pediatrician, lactation consultant, and audiologist. From prenatal care, labor and birth, to postpartum care - our experience at Origins was everything we hoped it would be. We cannot thank everyone there enough! We are continuing to see the in-house chiropractor and still go for follow up/well woman appointments, so luckily we will continue to see everyone at Origins fairly regularly. We are forever grateful to this team of wonderful humans ❤️

I am so grateful to the team at Origins Birth and Wellness Collective for supporting me and my family through an incredible birth experience. Its been almost three months since my son was born and I still want to cry tears of joy and gratitude thinking about the women that supported us to bring him safely into the world. I moved to Dallas in my 36th week of pregnancy and they were super accommodating and welcoming in helping me transition care at such a late stage. They made me feel comfortable, supported, and at ease leading up to the labor/delivery. Looking back on my experience during labor/delivery I would not change a single thing or ask anything more of Amy & Cristine and their team. Not only did I feel supported, but my husband and mother were also blown away by how well they were treated by the midwives and staff, and were made to feel at home and at ease. The space is so beautiful (I spent A LOT of time in the awesome tub) and the team made me feel so supported and safe during the experience that no matter where were living for our future baby/babies, I want to come back and deliver with them again! Trust these professional, knowledgeable, caring, incredible women with your care - you will not regret it :)Edited to add after second birth at Origins:We were blessed to welcome baby #2 into the world in the same room where our first was born almost two years earlier. Birthing in a pandemic could’ve thrown a wrench in our birth plans and caused a lot anxiety but I felt so safe and well cared for at Origins. I am grateful that my whole birth team was allowed to attend the birth and that the day was filled with joy and encouragement and celebration, not fear. The midwives at Origins are not only super knowledgeable and professional, but also compassionate, caring, empathetic, and full of love for the families they serve. I wish every birthing person could experience this quality of care. Can’t wait to be back for another Origins baby in the future 💕

Wow, all I can say is I cannot wait to get back and have another baby with the Origins midwives!! My husband and I were excited for every single appointment during pregnancy because we felt so loved and celebrated while in their care. Im so thankful for the incredible support we received postpartum as well...that cannot be stated enough! The texts and calls to check in on us during those first 6 weeks were always a huge blessing. As a first time mom, I valued so much the way they listened to me and offered supportive guidance in every area. They also cared for my husband well by including him in every appointment and fostering his involvement in the birth of our daughter. We were all in the most capable hands and are so thankful!

I love Origins so much! Choosing them to care for me during and after my pregnancy is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I already knew I wanted a midwife to deliver my baby but my husband wasn’t sold on the idea by the time I booked our first appointment at Origins. So our very first appointment was with Julie (such a sweet and kind lady) who within 20 minutes armed my husband with enough information to help him make a decision as to where we wanted to have our baby. Subsequently, every other appointment and interaction with the entire staff at Origins was incredible! At first, I did not like the idea of seeing a different midwife at every appointment but I ended up loving it so much because it felt like having sisters support you on your pregnancy journey, each of them special in her own way and approach but with one common theme: LOVE. I felt so empowered throughout my pregnancy journey and was constantly reminded of my strength by Amy and her staff. So thank you so much Amy, Laquita, Jenn, Sabrina, Julie, Meghan, Eyde, Amanda for everything 🥺. I actually cried during my last visit because I’ll miss them all so much! They were so good to me... Hence I’ll definitely recommend Origins to every mama in the DFW area.

GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT and biggest regret of my first pregnancy and birth. I was afraid of giving birth in hospital and found that i had the option of going to a birth center. I wish i had done more research and chosen differently. Started feeling off about Origins about 6 months in but had already made payments so we continued to go for our visits which were pretty basic and and all things you can do yourself at home. If you love “up-speak” then this is the place for you. They say thAt they genuinely care and that you’re part of their community but really they just want ur business. On the two occasions i had a scare they were quick to just send me to an ER before checking me or asking me to come in. On the night I went into Labor my midwife was Megan. The entire time with her it felt like she was uninterested and would have much rather be at home asleep. I had such a positive outlook and was looking forward to bringing my baby into the world together. I had even prepared a gift for her because I knew that she was newly pregnant. Instead, I felt like a burden to my midwife while I was in active labor! Not a single word of encouragement or direction other than that i should walk the stairs and keep my feet inwards. She offered a glass of wine and gaveMe two tylenol pm. Of course I self transferred the next morning. I wrote a letter of my detailed experience addressing the issues I had to Amy the owner, and not only did she not reply, but Megan actually e mailed me back! Extremely unprofessional. First time moms BEWARE!

Nobody couldve predicted the craziness of the year 2020. In the midst of terrifying uncertainty, Origins midwives stood as this shining beacon of safety, normalcy, and loving care. I transferred care of myself and my son to their capable hands halfway through pregnancy because my OB and her staff were so dismissive of my concerns about the virus. I didnt want to have my baby in a hospital where I might be forced to labor alone, or with a mask, or be pressured into an elective c-section! I was blessed with the opportunity to labor at Origins and to birth my son the way I wanted - with birth support, with my loving husband, in a comfy bed, and without a mask. Im eternally grateful to these women. Thank you for all you do!

The quality of service I received from my midwives for my prenatal care with this pregnancy was like a breath of fresh air compared to my previous experience with an OBGYN for a previous pregnancy. I learned so much, felt so supported and confident every step of the way. I would never do it any other way again! I am so grateful for the experience, and beautiful birth I had with Origins. It was everything I’d hoped for and honestly more! I truly could not have done it without them! I have recommended Origins to any expectant mama friends, and just had my first friend to have her baby with them there now as well! I would absolutely be back if I were to have another. I cannot recommend Amy at Origins Birth and Wellness enough! When I was first pregnant, I was terrified of going to the doctor due to terrible experiences at the OBGYN. My husband recommended Amy, and from there it was smooth sailing. When youre with Amy youre surrounded with nothing but love, compassion, and most importantly, she arms you with knowledge to help empower yourself in making your own educated decisions. Amy was always helpful in answering every question, and never made me feel helpless or scared when the big show came up, and she was able to guide us with a birth plan. Let me tell you, that birth plan is important! I had no idea of all the things that can happen during birth. I am forever in gratitude to her.

My husband and I keep saying that the best thing we did was switch to Origins Birth and Wellness Collective. We moved from a traditional OB/GYN to Origins when I was about 30 weeks along. Amy and Christine are wonderful to work with - they took the time to get to know us and answered all our questions. Coming from a ‘hospital’ setting where I was lucky to get 10 minutes with my practitioner at each appointment to Origins where I got as much face time as I needed was a huge shift! Plus nothing was ever pushed on us- Amy and Christine would make recommendations but they always made sure that we understood it was our pregnancy and we had the right to decide what to do.My baby was late coming (41 + 5) and had we stayed with the hospital I know they would have been pressuring me to induce. Even though I was worried about the baby coming so late, Amy and Christine kept coming up with a new plan to help get our little one out naturally. They were so confident and reassuring it helped me to be calm and confident as well. When it came time to deliver Amy and Christine were amazing coaches- they talked me through the transition phase and helped me push correctly. Once the baby arrived they made sure we had lots of skin-to-skin and that every aspect of our birth plan was honored. On to of all that, not only did we get to work with these amazing midwives, we have access to the Origins community- a group of mommas that has been a lifeline for us. They are always there to help answer questions and reach out to other moms in need. Our only regret is that we didn’t know about Origins at the beginning of our pregnancy - we could not be happier with our experience!

Origins Birth and Wellness is truly a special place. Amy and Christine are knowledgeable and caring, making every appointment a good experience. They made sure I was educated on what was going on in my pregnancy, answered any questions I had and listened carefully to my concerns and desires for my birth experience. As I approached two weeks late, they were able to give me that little push I needed to get going (naturally). Going into labor, I had absolute faith that they would be able to take care of anything I needed. I know that birth is hard for everyone, but for whatever reason this last one was particularly hard for me. The ladies at Origins were there for me when I was sure I could not go on and rejoiced with me as we all welcomed my precious daughter into the world. They were like little birth angels catering and pampering me during and after labor and I am in awe of their craft.Did I mention the GORGEOUS birth suites? I didn’t? Psh. First off, I gave birth in a beautiful bathtub in an open room with walls of windows, soft sunshine on my face, and a view of treetops and nature. It was beyond what I could have hoped for in a Birth.I can’t recommend the location high enough either. It is practically ACROSS from Baylor hospital. IDEAL for the more anxious mamas. We had our baby girl, Alice, here in May when it was still the Birth & Womens Center. Christine was my midwife for most of my appointments and for labor and delivery. Every appointment I felt so comfortable and she even helped me deal with issues with my employer.I was closely monitored toward the end when my fluid levels began to drop. After bed rest, a small increase, followed by another drop, she decided to help naturally induce. She was kind and supportive as we called multiple times that night before it was time to come in. Labor was hard and lasted through the night. I struggled with dizziness throughout pregnancy and it acted up up during labor, which made it hard to walk around and do the things that help labor to progress. Because of some pre-existing back issues and scoliosis, back labor was incredibly intense, especially during transition. I felt myself wanting to give up, I got scared, and thought I couldnt do it. Christine and my husband both encouraged me and reminded me of why we wanted to have or baby this way.Towards the end I started to stall around 8cm and Alices heart rate dropped a bit. Christine had to help me dilate the rest of the way as I pushed at the same time. Talk about painful, but it worked! Within a few minutes it was time to push for real! Christine was encouraging as I pushed and about 15-20 minutes later, Alice entered the world! We were all an amazing team and we truly loved our experience birthing here.

This is his wife posting, but I confidently speak for both of us: we love Origins and the Dallas midwives. Christine and Sabrina are caring, nonjudgmental, knowledgeable, AVAILABLE, thorough, and they took everything in stride despite the bumpy transition (like taking care of me and baby even though we couldn’t get medical records from the previous owner). Amy is really sweet, though we didn’t have the pleasure of being seen by her for this one. And the midwife called in for our birth, Roxanne, was a truly wonderful addition to the team.As a black woman, I also felt very confident about their attention to me and baby, how they educated us on interventions and when they might be necessary, but how they greatly respected our wishes for no intervention unless necessity arose. Happy to report we had a lunker at 9.1lbs with an IV for me (though late in the game end only fluids) because I was vomiting, and pitocin AFTER baby was born to help control my bleeding. That was the dream scenario for me.They never got frustrated with my progress, never looked tired. They were even so encouraging that I didn’t believe some of the things they told me (like “you’re doing a good job!”).My husband and I both say they’re part of the family. I’m sad to think our time will come to an end soon after these next check ups. Their stellar care extends past birth, being available every day while we do this new parenting thing. I also want to point out that their referrals have been so relieving (dentist to take care of tongue tie, lactation consultant, etc).Nothing but rave reviews here. I hope they stick around for the next little one!
