I am incredibly grateful towards the sanitary staff, other staff, nurses, doctors, peer navigators, kitchen and whomever else I may have forgotten. I had so much help through possibly one of the worst (well, now I know, healing opportunities) times of my life. They were caring, helpful with any questions, self-sacrificing at times in helping myself and others. I am forever grateful, came in with no hope, came out ready to reclaim my life. Thank you all so much.P.s. Cookie, thanks πŸ™

I have been a patient of homeward bound off and on for years unfortunately. They helped me when no one else batted an eye.I would venture to say Ive spent more time there than most. Im currently past my 5 month mark. Any that know me would attest this is nothing short if a miracle. I hear people ridicule and badger the facility ( new and old ), yet Id challenge the notion of better care being handed out elsewhere. With that said, allow a tad bit of advice. Those of us who have left the facility occasionally need a little help as well. It scares me when I hear a comment like Im busy when all I needed was five minutes to work through a craving.I challenge the staff not to allow paperwork to obstruct the real purpose of what the sole purpose should be...To help another alcoholic or addict.Keep up the good work my friendsπŸ™‚

The therapy was great. The problem is I was court ordered to attend 52 hours of therapy. They decided I was done with their program at 47 hours without telling me. I find it odd that their program is 60 hours (which I was happy to do the full 60 hours), but they let me go at 47 which doesnt satisfy the entire reason why I was there in the first place. Now theyre saying that theres nothing they can do to give me the therapy they agreed to do in the first place. You would think a reasonable person would agree they didnt provide the service they agreed to, and tell me I can just sit in on 5 to 13 hours (which I expressed I was happy to pay for out of pocket.) Mind you none of this was done as a consequence to my poor behaviour in therapy, or anything that Ive done to my knowledge. This is just purely them deciding they dont want to help allieve a problem they created. I guess it would just be absurd to help me out and do the thing they originally said they would do.

It was my first time going there, and I did get the treatment I needed to be on! They have their own insurance with NTBHA which is Free, if your needing help with it just bring your ID and proof of residence along with 5 of each: T-shirts, pair of socks, and underwear. They will supply the rest and its first come, first-serve basis! Your going to stay there for 5 Days Max, and after that its all up to you now on your own and if you need a place to live they will help you as well!

Ive seen this place save so many lives and give so many people a sense of being and wanting to be an active and good member of society. I give this place 0 stars. First of all I was told it was not co-ed that it was all female, then i had an appointment time just to have to sit in the lobby for HOURS because I also was NOT informed that the place is basically a methadone clinic, (my addiction is not to opiates) and that basically they only know how to treat heroin addiction, so there wasnt a detox program for me, NOR an adjustment period in which I could detox from my drug of choice when first arriving from 3 hours away for the second day in a row. Never met my counselor until she came to inform me that if I didnt get up I couldnt have my cigarettes that day. And oh yeah, the people that go to detox before residential even get their cigarette breaks. Would NEVER recommend this place to anybody seriously trying to get helped. Not even an opiate addict.

Went to homeward bound under the impression that they had a womens residential program it turns out that the womens residential program was just starting so it had no structure and no schedule the techs are overworked underpaid they do the best resources they have I went almost my entire stay without seeing a counselor a girl got kicked out and a tech got fired because they were sleeping together other residents figured out ways to scam the nurses to get drugs like out of van and that kind of stuff thats supposed to only be used for detox the poor kitchen staff does the best with what they have but most everything that was served us was expired I volunteered and spend some my time working in the kitchen and I saw just how how bad it was with all the money that they are getting for each patient from the state they should be able to afford a little bit better accommodations I repeatedly had personal items of mine taken by the cleaning staff simply because it kind of looked like this items that homeward bound issued us my boyfriend had brought me a nice blanket and a very nice pillow which subsequently went missing within 24 hours and took about 3 or 4 days to track down in the mens residential section even when I was discharged I completed the whole program they forgot to give me my paperwork my discharge instructions and prescriptions at a psychiatrist had written for me and after about 2 weeks of calling and trying to get it I finally gave up this place would be a whole lot better if they treated the residence in the patients like human beings instead of just another number that makes them a little bit more money there were only a couple people there who I can truly think who did care and Mr Curtis is the main one hes the reason that I didnt leave early and that I stayed because I didnt have to be there

The majority of their unit tech staff were outright rude and extremely apathetic to any and all concerns brought to their attention, not all, but most. They oftentimes would arrive late, only to then clock-in and then immediately send everyone to their rooms so they were not to be bothered- but almost as if they were children being disciplined. The cafeteria manager called me out aloud, when I mistakenly reached for the wrong plate within the lineup, the following one was simultaneously being placed right after it. She insisted that I instead take the one in which that the volunteer patient had most recently placed instead. She requested the plate from my hands- I voiced my opinion- she then DEMANDED the plate from my hands- so I gave it to her and then watched her scrape a perfectly fine, likely donated, piece of chicken, serving of corn and peaches right into right into the trashcan; she suggested I take the appropriate, plate... I left the line and decided not to eat that day...The other patients on the unit are quite vulgar and can be really nasty... Grown men, running around farting on others- literally. Roommates rather refer to each other as cellmates. It did appear that the counselors had at least somewhat of an interest in their patients well-being. If you are contemplating treatment at this center, I would strongly suggest looking into any outpatient options

I felt what I needed was rest. Today how ever I understand the reasoning behind all the classes, they helped save my butt from falling off. The staff was absolutely wonderful. The beds were so much more comfortable than the ones in a jail cell, and the cooks had it going down in the kitchen. This place is not ment to be a vacation, so if thats what you really looking for I would suggest elsewhere.

I went to Homeward Bound SIX times. Several of those, I just did detox. Back then, they gave you Ativan for withdrawal, and it was a godsend. Now, you get NOTHING. The new Dr is extremely unaware of how addiction works - it’s scary. He will take you off all meds - even medications for issues related to my heart. He cold turkey’d me from my important heart/blood pressure meds, and my BP went so high, many of the staff were worried. You will not even receive Advil, unless you have broken a bone. I fell off the top of a bunk bed and really hurt myself. The Dr required an order for AN ICEPACK. I left the day after that. How can you refuse an ice pack for someone who just fell off a very high bunk bed onto the hard linoleum!!?? He also takes everyone off any type of antidepressant you may be on. Seeing those girls withdrawal from those was awful. So you can imagine how withdrawing from hard drugs will be.

I dont know if youve have anxiety but sometimes its so bad that no amount of breathing can calm you down and a warm glass of milk isnt going to do anything besides make you puke from anxiety. Do not let the hospital send you here if you have anxiety. My husband was called to come pick me up after 1 hour of being there. Its filthy in there and its all locked and horrible. I just wanted to go outside and the cops mocked me saying that its the bad part of Dallas and wouldnt it give me anxiety. I was told before going there that it was all women and it wasnt. I explained my situation at 1st the lady on thw phone just didnt want to understand my specific situation. After 3 attempts on trying to explain in different ways with different words (ignorant lady) she finally said oh yea that this dept. Wow only to be directed to a voicemail. I sure wish other people would review the phone call process. They might be able tp shine light if not replace the person answering the phone. Why get a job where u help people and then donthe exact opposite. I called around 1:10 pm monday 23 in july...... I emailed themHello. I just wanted to help bring some light to a issue i had. I was told by cps to call to get information on when i could go see about a detox or some type of program. Cps also mentioned that they will need to send paper work and then i could start. So after waiting and being told about the paper work being sent by cps to you at this location, i call and the lady that answered the phone was quick to turn me away. So i had to explain it 3 different time in 3 different ways to help her understand. I feel as if the lady that answered the phone is quick to turn people in need away. She was very short with words. My only wish is that either speak to the person answering the phone or just replace with someone that would tale the job seriously and want to help and inform people drug problems. Is that not the goal? I sure hope i get a human response.

My son was given an opportunity by a judge to attend a 30 day rehab and if he completed it successfully would be allowed to stay at my home until his trial. He was not getting along with the drug counselor assigned to him and requested another counselor that seemed to help him open up, but was refused his request. He was drug tested a week or so ago, with a false positive, took a second test & came back clean. The sane thing happened today but they refused to retest him and discharged him instead. After picking him up we immediately found a reputable drug testing org open, AccuScreen. They did a five panel drug screen and it came back negative. I paid for there lab to confirm the results. My son is in jail because Homeward Bound would not give him a second drug test. He had too much to loose to be foolish enough to get high but because he angered one of the counselors they sent him back to jail. I would not recommend this place. You have no idea what level if education some of the people in charge have. It seemed what qualified th techs to be techs was the fact they were recovered drug addicts themselves. To me thats not necessarily a qualification to help others. Maybe- maybe not! Im very disappointed in the lack of communication I recieved after several request. I want to speak with the Executive Director and find out what happened and why. For the moment this organization that started with great intentions maybe has lost touch with all therapies and has become a one trick pony and not a very good trick any more.

This place was like a nightmare out of a movie. It was considerably worse then Denton County Jail. Ive never in my live seen such horrifying living conditions. It was smelly, dirty and really UN-humane. I would never wish on my worst enemy ...or even my dog. I really dont understand why the State of Texas hasnt shut this place down. And why hospitals would be sending there patiences there. Only if you like to be over medicated and are truly homeless then I would say its for you! If anyone of the caseworkers saw the living conditions im sure they would no longer send anyone here. The State of Texas really needs to send someone out there and make sure the RNs are real nurses.. I dont know how this place hasnt been shut down already. This place was like a LIVING HELL. I would SERIOUSLY advise anyone to read the paperwork closely before going here because it was that bad.(if you can read the paperwork because it was copied so many times..) When I was there the RN said stay in the gate or you will get robbed.. and I truly believed them it im surprised someone didnt seal my car. It was unreal. Im going to try and wright reviews anywhere on the internet that I can but i literately could never wright enough bad things about this place to give you the right idea...
