He is one of the greatest physicians I have known. Not only a great talent in his field but a caring human being as a true physician should be. He listens, thinks and acts superbly. The computer to him is an aid only, but in his heart the individual patient comes first. We need more of HP docs.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. My car was hardly cooled down when I was back out in it to go home. Reception pleasant and welcoming. Dr was in and out in about 10 minutes if that. Complained to manager? Supervisor? Who knows and was told that there was nothing I could do! Dr claimed she did a full annual exam—not even close!! Went to another Dermatologist and had annual, different diagnosis for problems I went in for and am in process of treatment.

Very positive review for the Cromwell office. I would give them 10 stars if I could. The staff was courteous and friendly. There was no wait time. I was seen so quickly I couldnt even finish the new patient questionnaire. The nurse and Dr. Chen were both very professional and put me completely at ease. I was very satisfied with exam and would highly recommend them.

Great service from Dr. Chen and her assistant Paris! Super friendly and professional in a lovely clean & modern office in Cromwell Ct.They were able to take care of my procedure within weeks of contact when the other larger groups had 3+ month wait lists.Will certainly return to them as needed!

Horrible experience with this office. Unfortunately, I lost my debit card before my appointment and they Were not accommodating at all. They tried to give awful reasons why they could not accommodate me the same way they accommodated my friend who was in the same situation. I was in horrible pain and they still would not help me because of their “policy” that is only flexible for a certain demographic of people. Just awful.This is unfortunate because Ive been seeing Dr. Chen since 2014. Do not come to this location if you’re a patient of color. :’(

The front desk staff in the Avon office demanded I give them written authorization IN ADVANCE to charge my credit card for whatever amount they wanted. When I complained, they offered their alternative of taking a $100.00 deposit from me. Another patient was also upset when they told him the same thing.

Beware! Upon having a small mole removed, I received a bill which was paid in full. One and half years later, I receive another bill stating I owe for services. Upon confronting, Im told there is no balance due however no one can provide written documentation stating this. The office is a scam and sensed it from the time I walked in. Not only did Dr. Strober do a poor incision which I had to have corrected by a plastic surgeon, I was pretty much pushed out the door with blood still dripping down my face. Overall a very poor experience - there are better options!

Visit for my mom. Check in very tacky and unprofessional. Checkin person asking for information already in the computer file. MA was very scattered and disorganized. Staff just walked in the room during procedure through the curtain and never knocked on the door. Nurse Cathie was amazing. Appointment was for 10:45am. Not seen till 11:45. Not acceptable at all. Would not recommend this practice.

Dr. Makkar removed a BCC/SC lesion in the Southington office. The facility was very clean and well run, staff was friendly, and I was entirely comfortable in the setting. Dr. Makkar thoroughly explained the process, and provided all the important recovery information. His assistants (thank you Amberly) were excellent!! I’d not hesitate to be a patient with this practice.

I went to have a cyst removed today and am very happy with my visit. Dr. Shahriari was amazing -efficient, friendly and informative. My nurse Sarah was very kind as well. I was in and out in under an hour. Would definitely reccomend !

I needed to have a full-body scan as skin cancer runs in my family. Dr. Finch was thorough, efficient and explained everything to me. He removed a mole during the appointment. I also saw him for hair loss, and he was just as wonderful. Thank you!

Scheduled an appointment as a new patient. The day of my appointment i woke up with a sore throat and headache so I called to reschedule my appointment. No one answered the phone so i left a voicemail. I called back a few days later to reschedule and was told I was going to be charged as a no show. I spoke with the office manager and told her I was not feeling well and did not want to risk getting anyone at the office sick especially due to COVID. I am not vaccinated and was trying to be responsible by canceling that day. The manager told me that even though I was sick I would still be considered a no show. I can not understand how they charge someone a no show fee that is sick the day of their appointment during a pandemic. I told her if this is their policy then I would rather not come to their office at all because they are clearly not keeping their patients safe. Patients would have to come in sick in order to not be considered a no show if they wake up feeling sick the day of their appointment. I worked at a Cardiolgy office and we would never treat a new patient like that. They lost my business and leaving this review to warn anyone else of their unreasonable policy.

My second trip for Mohs Surgery with Dr. Hanspaul Makkar in Southington. Very, very pleased with the surgical procedure both times. Dr. Makkar is excellent! I can not see any scar from the first procedure. He is also a very nice person. His staff are also very, very friendly. Highly recommend them.

Starting going to see Dr. Payette 1 year ago. He is truly a professional in all aspects of the word. He is thorough in what he does and has a great bed side manner to go with it. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I will go no where else. Thank you to Central Connecticut Dermatology.

Paid over $500 just to have one mole removed via freezing solution. Took 5 mins in the office. Never saw a bill after appointment. Just charged my card on file without any notice. Per their new fine print they don’t mail bills nor do they notify you what and when they charge your account. I will never step foot in that office again I would have gave them ZERO stars if that was an option!! Merry Christmas to me :(

Very unprofessional. I had an appointment for today at 3pm. I received text messages the last few days confirming my appointment. They tell you arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out paperwork. I get to the office only for them to say they called and left a voicemail this morning. I never received a voicemail.. They called during work which I am not allowed to be on my phone. It was a 30 min drive wasted trip. If I did this to them, I would have been paying a fee. DO NOT recommend.

This practice dealing in illegal activities . my son went in for a mole removal.was forced to put a card on file, charged over $230 for a mole removal , no warning no statement nothing. and they refused to remove the card from file unless $100 deposit was made. how does this even make sense?!?! why is this the only medical practice ive been to which forces a card on file? how can they even charge me without a insurance or bill statement from anyone. wish i can give them negative stars

Visited this office for the first time today ..under COVID conditions, the office was well prepared, the receptionist was only interested in insurance info, ID and credit card .she was luke warm..the attending nurse had no social graces, was snippy in conversation and at one point asked me if I was hard of hearing..she had 0 personality. The APRN was lovely, congenial and very knowledgeable. I will return there because of the medical care received from her Otherwise, some staff members need attitude adjustment counseling.

This place is horrible. They have a receptionist (Jessica) and a medical assistant (angela) stealing stuff and selling it online.ibfound this out after investigating them for violating patients hippa rights by posting pics of patients and procedures. tried to file a complaint but it took 3 days to get a supervisor on the phone. The supervisor (maria) had me email my proof and now will not take any calls or email back. So looks like another cover up.no action has been taken because both are still running around there like nothing happened.be aware of this place and make sure you dont get your picture taken or worse something stolen from your purse

The staff is extremely rude and dismissive to patients.I called and requested to have a consultation with my Doctor. The nurse kept correcting me as to how her name should be enunciated. I wanted to pay for the consultation with my doctor, she minimized my concerns, and never addressed this. I’m looking at another dermatologist. This practice is horrible. Don’t go there. Writing a letter to my doctor explaining why I’m leaving this practice.

The only staff that wasn’t rude (Not just to the patients but to each other as well) were the nurses. I don’t know if they’re just over worked or what but even the front desk staff was so on edge (witnessed one of them yelling at the nurse during check-in). I saw Dr Amy Chen who was also extremely unpleasant and basically expected me to know things for myself....I’m sure there’s a nicer office/staff in CT that charges less than $200 and actually gives helpful feedback on your problems

The reviews about payment issues did make me nervous to come here but the staff is very friendly, efficient and kind. Explanation of my issues and intended care was easy to understand and very clear. Prescriptions were sent to my pharmacy and they answered all of my questions thoroughly. Booking a follow up appointment and check out was extremely easy .The paperwork they give regarding payment of any balances after explanation of benefits from your insurance clearly states if they don’t receive any type of response from you within 4 weeks they will charge the remaining balance, the front office did state that payment plans are available should you call before that time period is over. My only recommendation is to come early for your appointment to check in as they are very busy and have a line.

Had an appointment here last week, when filling out the paperwork I specifically asked the lady at the very front desk if i could be billed rather then leaving my card on file for automatic withdraw. The lady specifically said no I cannot do that, so I filled it out complying with her rules knowing I need the exam. One week later today I get charged $181 dollars for a 15 minute visit with the doctor. The doctor I spoke to was fantastic but this doesn’t make up for the frustration I had here. I called the billing dept today and they said the lady should not have told you that it’s automatic, and you are able to get billed. I was told there is NO other option but automatic withdraw, then I am auto drafted a week later. Im never returning to this place again and making sure others are aware of their shady behavior. They clearly and intentionally didn’t disclose that I had the option to be billed because they wanted a card on file that they could charge. Please BEWARE!!! It’s unfortunate because the doctor herself was fantastic and the building was nice.

Greatly disappointed. I dont normally leave negative reviews. Plus, I feel it is almost always 100% the office staff who are unsatisfactory, Not the providers. I went in person to make a new patient appt - (3 weeks out, acceptable.) After confirming my appt with 5 voicemails and 5 texts, they called at 2pm the day before my 830am appt to cancel. Also, while I was in the office, a patient came in for her appt. She was rudely informed her appt was cancelled & it was her fault for not knowing since she was left a voicemail. After waiting 3 weeks, the very next avail appt for me (with ANY provider) is over a MONTH from now. Lastly, I see many Doctors in my life. Never once has a practice even ASKED to keep a credit card on file - much less charge it before youve even received your Explanation of Benefits from insurance - totally unethical. Do NOT Recommend.

The dermatologist was nice but like all doctors appointments had to wait longer than the actual appointment, was prescribed medicine I didnt use but cleared up my acne through the help of drug store soaps and products. My issue with them is when I went to my first appointment I had to give a card to put on file, I asked at that time if my card would be charged for a copay and she said no. Well I go into my email today and I have a receipt where they in fact charged my card almost $200 with no phone call before or warning. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO PAY MY COPAY THROUGH MY MEANS OR SHOULD BE NOTIFIED BEFORE BEING CHARGED!!!!

Excellent Front Desk Service. You can actually get an appointment! Hurry, before everyone finds them. Appointment was on time. You can fill out your new patient paperwork on-line, in advance. My doctor was very thorough, knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. Dr. Chen explained everything in detail. Highly recommend this practice.

To be frank, at first I was very disappointed.. let me explain... everyone in the office is very pleasant, I was excited to see this new business in my hometown and a convenient central location.Disappointment came in after everything was said and done and I got my bill, there was a major miscommunication between me and the staff for services I received (i.e.the cost outcome). This is a very challenging time for everyone right now with layoffs and other burdens endured due to COVID.Long story short - after multiple miscommunications Dr. Mona Shahriari, reached out to me personally and took it into her own hands to get this sorted out. She was very efficient, straightforward and caring throughout the entire process of this miscommunication.

Rude staff. One of the nurses for Payette was put on the phone after being on hold for a question and as soon as she heard my moms accent (not a native english speaker) the woman rudely repeated “Hello?” multiple times. The phone wasn’t on mute, the connection was fine. She then hung up after seemingly pretending to not hear her. There was no problem when I was speaking on the phone with no accent in the beginning.

If you are seeking employment with this office look elsewhere!!! I had an interview roughly 2 weeks ago and everything went well or so I thought. I thought it went well because I even shadowed the front desk staff. Gave my references and they were all called within 24 hours. I e-mailed HR TWICE for a follow up on the status of my interview and got NOTHING. I had to call the office myself THIRTEEN DAYS later just to get a response. I was told I would get a call from the office manager and instead I received and e-mail. This has got to be the most UNPROFESSIONAL business and interview process I have ever dealt with. I truly hope this establishment gets their act together and treats the people with a little bit more respect than I did.

Front desk staff rushed and sound scripted. Everyone in the waiting area can hear what they are saying. Require credit card on file- when you inquire about this they very quickly say as long as you pay your balance this card won’t be touched. If you go to the collections we will use the card on file for payment. Funny how the paperwork you sign says otherwise. Well, I haven’t even received a bill from the office and they charged me on the card that was on file. Sketchy way to do business. Very unprofessional front office staff and absolutely no care for the patients privacy. Will not be returning to this office. Even with insurance, a check up cost almost $200.

I’ve had the same insurance for over 20 years with no problem ever with payment. After I scheduled an appointment as an afterthought the representative said by the way she needed a debit or credit card on file to finalize the appointment. Never heard of such a thing. I had a creepy feeling and told them cancel the appointment.

I made an appointment and explained all of the issues I was having over the phone. When I went in, I was told by the lady who first went into the room with me that I can only be seen for 1 issue because it was only a 15 minute appointment and I had to make a separate appointment for each issue!!!! Ive NEVER heard of that in my life. I was EXTREMELY upset and disappointed and left even before seeing the doctor. They also make you have a credit card on file, just in case you dont pay within 30 days and they dont send you a bill. They expect you to keep track of the Explanation of Benefits from the insurance company. I made an appointment with my previous dermatologist who had no problem treating all of my issues at once!

They prescribed the wrong medicine. Called the same day and no one returned my call. Called the next day (4x) received a call back from the nurse who had no idea why the medicine was prescribed, was promised a call back within the hour by the prescribing Dr. Received no call back. Continued to call back every hour until they conveniently closed and my calls were sent directly to voice mail. Extremely unprofessional and certainly do not care about patients. Meanwhile my sons pediatrician was able to call me back twice. Once to warn me the medication prescribed was dangerous for my son and to stop taking it immediately and the second time to make sure someone from central dermatology had called back. Which they hadnt and still havent. Ill be physically driving to the office tomorrow. Please do not book with them, their answering message states we are a new practice that gets over 500 calls a day? Im sorry why is your growing practice something you have to announce to new patients? As if a growing business is a bad thing or a burden that should be passed down as not only an inconvenience but also A HEALTH HAZARD to your patients? Extremely disappointed with the lack of follow up and concern for their patients.

I came for the first time last week. I thought the office was very nice and the front desk seemed super easy to speak with.The problems started when the doctor came in. Dr. Justin Finch was very rude with poor bed side manor. He didn’t explain what he was doing and was very rushed. Dr. Finch entered the room and promptly told me to remove my cloths. Removed a tool from his belt and started the exam. Very cold person who I would not recommend. Dr. Finch also seems to be lacking in experience as his treatment failed to work.

Probably the worst experience dealing with a specialists office. To start off, I called for weeks trying to set up an appointment, left messages, never getting a reply. The gentleman who ended up picking the phone when I finally did get to speak to someone, was pleasant. He sent me the link to online registration and I filled it out, great. Fast forward to today, the young lady at the front desk tells me that they dont have anything from my online registration, that I would have to fill out the packets. Annoyed, I fill out the packets, there is a line, and it is now 20 mins past my appointment time. She tells me that I have to leave a credit card on file or 100 deposit in order to be seen because it is office policy. I was sent away because I didnt have a credit card on me although I had cash on me to pay my copay. The lady at the front desk repeats the policy as if I was hard of hearing and didnt understand the first time. The office should really let people know ahead of time of this policy before having people waste their time coming to this office. I loved Dr. Finch, but to deal with the nonsense of the office, Id rather not. Back to Uconn Dermatology I go, happily!!!

This is a great practice and a welcome addition to Cromwell. Dr. Whalen is the very best, extremely competent with excellent results from MOHS surgery by him three times. In addition, he is very caring and takes the time to explain things. His staff is also excellent, never rushing you and maintaining appointment times without a long wait. On the general dermatology side, Dr, Shariari is also excellent, very thorough and up to date on the scientific basis behind her recommendations for skin care. As a nurse with over 40 years experience, I highly recommend this practice.

If it were possible to give this practice a zero star I would. Understand, this is coming from someone who has used the same eye dr for over 30 yrs, the same pulmonary dr for over 30 yrs and the same gyn for over 30 yrs. If you’re good, I’m sticking around and I’ll refer friends and family. I can’t tell you if this group is good b/c they refused to see me unless I gave them full access to my bank account by giving them the number to my HSA debit account. No way! I am fully insured, have met my deductible (9 months ago) and they were guaranteed 100% payment as an in network provider. I asked them to call my insurer to confirm my deductible status but they refused. I called my referring doctor and my insurance company who was more than cooperative in taking a formal complaint. The office would see me if I gave them a $100 deposit despite having full insurance. Fortunately, I was able to locate a professional office that had a cancellation and I will be able to be evaluated in a few weeks. Avoid this office at all costs. Patients deserve to be treated better.

Good yet expensive consultation visit. I had to get bump checked on my face as per esthetician. It was smooth to get appointment here. Place looked great. dr Mona Sharwari, cheerful , checked bump and mentioned just age spot and no procedure. She asked other concerns I mentioned my hyperpigmentation. She just mentioned and prescribed triluma and tretinoin and suggested clear and bright laser all very expensive total ard 800$. It was not checked properly and my brown skin tone was emphasised. This more like consultation visit costed ard 180$ aft insurance . Just upset my hyperpigmentation was not checked and no other economical treatment.
