I certainly hope that my experience with Northern pain institute is an isolated incident. Being new to northern Arizona I am finding that medical practices, scopes of medicine, and protocols are extremely different than down in the Phoenix Valley. With that said I need to clarify that the nurse practitioner in Cottonwood is phenomenal. She is professional, personable, and truly cares about the patients she encounters.An MRI was ordered for me and I have a pacemaker. At first I was concerned and brought it to the attention of the staff however, that concern was not valid. I remembered I have a Medtronic MRI compatible device. Working with Simon Med Imaging , my Cardiologist and Medtronic all the necessary details were in place. Then I received an odd telephone message stating that the medical office at Northern Az Pain had canceled my MRI and told staff at Simon Med I would be scheduling a CT scan at a local hospital. I knew for sure that this phone call was not meant for me, I was never consulted about any change in my imaging. The MRI was set up to take place on a day that other professional appointments were going to be made in the East Valley, three hours away from my home. After talking to Simon Med Imaging it was confirmed, the telephone message was intended for me.Needless to say, I am so disappointed, furious, and once again discouraged by the healthcare in northern Arizona. As I stated, I hope this is an isolated incident because healthcare professionals should not be making plans for their patients regarding their care without consulting them.
