I love the staff at the Utah Pain Clinic. Dr. Matsumura, including the ladies at the front desk and his professional staff are the BEST! Every person that I have interacted with really cares about the patient. I would recommend that is you suffer from debilitating pain to have your primary care doctor write a referral. You will be happy that you did!

Dr matsumura and his np Heidi are great! April his medical assistant and one of the desk gals marsh are also wonderful. However, every time i go in with my mom the other front desk girl is god awful and rude. Heather also is not easy to work with. For instance my mom called saying she would be late, I work in a doctors office and we have to respect that at least she called!! So, they told her to come in anyways. She showed up right when she said she would and they refused to see her! I’m sorry, but you cannot tell a patient to come and then send them away when they do. Working in healthcare I know what a clinic should be and how a patient should be treated, this is not it. Do not recommend.

Ive had great experiences with Dr. Rajagopal and his office since this recent car accident in January 2019; Ive been treated with 1st class service. Heather and her team at the front desk are nice & helpful. Because Iv done many procedures, Ive gotten to know Diane and she is a Pro. Shes diligent, works hard and does a great job with IVs. Further, Diane leads a good team in recovery area as well and shes very personable. Ive found Utah Pain to be a facility that shows empathy and theyve helped manage my significant back pain even when its only for short periods of time. In between procedures my follow ups with Dr. Anna Peters has been easy peazy. Throughout this pandemic, theyve kept the place clean and have strict guidelines that make me feel at ease. If youre looking for some pain relief, give these folks a call and know youll be taken care of.

Most AMAZING pain clinic ever!!I have been a patient of Dr. Shah since 2013 with a gap of 3 years due to moving cross country. As soon as I knew I was coming back to Utah, I called (they even remembered me after all that time) and I was able to get in immediately. The only thing different from the time I left is their location. With all that I have gone through and the circumstances of my health Dr. Shah has been extremely incredible and his staff as well. The staff has always treated me with nothing but kindness, warmth, and compassion, and I hope that even on my horrible days when I tend to be super grouchy that I do the same for them, and also treat them with the respect they deserve.Dr. Shah has always listened, and paid attention to what I have to say and how I feel.He has never minimized what I go through, and he always talks me through everything that he is doing whether it is my care in general or a procedure.I always feel comfortable when I go there as if they are all a part of my extended family. When I do have an extremely bad day or I am feeling particularly down, they all (Dr. Shah and staff) seem to notice and do what they can to cheer me up and try to take my mind off of my pain level.I have moved a few times due to my husbands employment and if I was in a bordering state I would make the drive to see Dr. Shah regardless of the distance. With the experience that I had to endure for those 3 years away from Dr. Shah and his staff, I count my blessings ever since returning. The kindness, compassion, desire to help, and willingness to listen to the patient is something I have only experienced here with Dr. Shah and his staff. There is no more moving for me so I can thankfully say that Dr. Shah and Co. are it for me. They truly are the best !!

These guys are pros. I originally found Utah Pain 5 years ago after being in an accident. My back was injured and in pain, and my mobility was greatly reduced. After reviewing my options (including surgery (( not recommended until you absolutely have to))) with my primary care physician, he sent to a back specialist (not Utah Pain). The recommendations I received there was for injections. After undergoing several rounds, I found that they werent working and gave up on the idea. A few months later, an in-law recommended Utah Pain as they had a good experience there. As my life was limited, I felt it couldnt hurt. After seeing Dr. Raj, he identified a different area of the back then had been previously addressed. To make a long story short, he was dead on for what the problem is. My mobility improved and my pain was reduced. As a result of my experience, I consulted him on other issues (not related to the accident) that I had tried treatment on but with no success. Of these the biggest was a leg bursa sac problem that left my leg feeling numb and hurting after walking. In the past I had 3 different doctors attempt to treat this issue. No success was ever achieved. Dr Raj is the absolute best Doctor I have ever had in treating this.I would highly Utah Pain to anyone that has tried injections but had little success. It will make a world of difference in your life. The staff is professional and friendly.

I have been seeing Dr Matsumura for years. He is very good at doinghis procedures. I have complied with the contracts that we as patientsare required to agree too.I recently ,was called to come in for a pill count and to come to theoffice before they closed at 5:30 .I could not come as i had no coverage at work. I was working at a busy physicians office and suggested oneof or all the Doctors could do a count and send a signed fax back to them. This was not even a consideration by his nurse. In fact, I was calledthe next day and left a message that my future appointment was cancelled and i was discharged as his patient. He would not even wing me off of medications he prescribed for allthese years. He prescribed a Beta Blocker for withdraw symptoms.Im already on Beta Blockers I am left alone to deal with the intensewithdrawls . Beware these doctors will put on meds and toss you asidewith nothing to help you. He should of weaned me off for a month but chose not .My suggestion for this clinic is this.... If you need your patients to comein that day for a count your office should have someone stay a bit laterto accommodate your Working patients.I feel like i have not been given the respect or care a human being deserves.

Best option in Utah if you actually want to be pain free or have a chance to live a normal life. The doctors here every single one of them are the most professional and qualified healthcare providers i have ever felt with. I have been working with other doctors that took me years of chronic pain and useless procedures that were just getting money from me. But Ive only seen the amazing staff and doctors at Utah pain specialists for a few months and I have never felt the way i do, I feel even better than before I was injured in the U.S. armed forces. from the Nurses who are all super nice and professional to the doctors who focus on healing the causes of your pain and keeping you pain free, not just doping you up and sending you out the door. even the intake women are super nice and courteous. I would highly recommend this pain clinic to anyone that want to heal.

I have seen Dr. SHAR since July of 2016. I had several proceedures on my back and neck done. I have gotten some relieve, but still hurt a lot at times . What really pissed me off was the way I was treated by the ladies St the reception desk. When I checked in I was told I had a balance of over $900 and would I want to pay that now. I told her that I just last week had gotten my first bill in the Over 7 month o had been coming here. One of the ladies behind the desk confirmed that there was a issue with billing which delayed my bill. I saw Dr. Shah and as I went back to the front desk to make an appointment for yet another procedure, s different told me that I had a balance of $900 and she could not make another appointment for me until I pay my balance or within $100. Not having worked for some months I told her that I was not able to pay all of the amount owed. I could have paid it every month if I had received a bill on time. She then asked me how many payments i could make to pay off my balance. By that time I just wanted to turn around to the full waiting room and ask if everyone got that or if I should repeat it. I was so embarrassed. Everyone in the waiting room could the conversation between the receptionist and myself. These kinds of conversations should take place in a quiet area. These issues are private and confidential. I never was able to make that appointment. I guess I will have to suffer until I am able yo pay my bill in full.

Utah pain specialist is the only place I would ever consider going.Prior to Utah pain specialist I was going to a pain management center in South Jordan.(there out of business now). The last procedure I had done there was a S.I. injection. I was on the table for almost an hour .Since transferring to the Utah pain specialists, 9 years ago things couldnt be any better than they are now. When I go in for a procedure they are usually done lickety-split. And the after effects long lasting which makes it nice that you dont have to go back very often. And as for the employees they are all awesome especially Dr Raj , Anna , & Christy. This facility gets every bit of all 5 Stars given.

Whatever you do if you see these doctors do not question their treatment meathods .Dr Shah kept trying to force injections on me that all of my other healthcare doctors told me not to do because of the risk of damage to my internal organs. When I told Dr Shah that I wouldnt do you any more shots not to mention the $900 I had to pay for the shots all the sudden I got a letter saying I was being dropped from his clinic simply because I wouldnt go along with his treatment plan and ask questions about other alternative methods other than shots and pills despite having multiple letters and multiple recommendations from my other doctor about my general health that my internal organs could not handle anymore of those shots after I suffered a ruptured colon from them.Dr. Sha in particular loves to force expensive procedures on his patients and yet he turned me down for a tens unit a non-chemical electric device for pain management. My recommendation is look to physical therapy exercise diet and natural ways to manage your pain before seeing these doctors a coworker got me in touch with a nutritionist and Ive been pain-free without their help much healthier and a lot cheaper to that these doctors and safer on the body

I had a very similar experience as Claude. It was pretty ridiculous to have had my records and blood work and X-rays sent to this pain management clinic from my previous pain management clinic in Montana. The doctor who saw me, his name I dont even remember because he didnt introduce himself. He was Chinese and so judgemental and stereotyped me, not to mention was rude constantly trying to test my muscle strength he was condescending when it was hurting me because I get muscle weakness easily and have fibro and autoimmune disorders some have been diagnosed and some not fully. He rolled his eyes because I guess he felt like I wasnt putting enough effort into it?? Ive had all these tests done and this doctor was ignorant. I gave him the bloodwork that caused my previous anastesiologist to send me to the oncologist to get tests done for lymphoma and leukemia because my lymph nodes and everything was so severe. This doctor apparently didnt know how to read them or didnt try. He told me, well theres nothing wrong here which is good because you dont need to find something wrong with you if there isnt. What the heck?!? Who enjoys spending their time in the doctors office or the waiting room for that matter??

I went to Utah Pain Specialists for over 6 years until I was discharged in December for doing exactly what i was told to do by Tracy Call-Schmidt, Dr Rajagapols PA. Dr Rajagapol doesnt care about the patients as much as he cares about the insurance payments and money in general. When i was discharged Dr Rajagapol wouldnt even talk to me about it but instead made me talk to his business manager, whom to the best of my knowledge doesnt have any medical training. He gave me a 2 week supply of pain medication and sent me on my way. My new health insurance didnt go into effect until February 1st so i asked for a month of medication but he refused and only gave me 2 weeks worth. Being his patient for 6 years didnt mean anything to him in the long run. He didnt have any loyalty to me, however i did to him and his clinic. Now that i go to a new pain management clinic I can see what Utah Pain Specialist did that they shouldnt have done and I see what they should have done that was never done. Dr Rajagapol gave me 13 knee injections in a 6 month period which more than likely cause more damage to my knee. Trusting him as a Dr was my mistake. If i would have looked at it like he does meaning just for the money i would have switched clinics long before 6 years of going there. My suggestion to any current or future patients is to get a second opinion and not just let Dr Rajagapol do what he thinks is best ie. Multiple injections to the same area that eat away at all of your tissue and cartridge. As ibstated before all he cares about is the insurance money not the patients well being. I would recommend using any other Pain Management Clinic over this one.

Utah Pain Specialists - 2016I appreciate the excellent care I’ve received from Utah Pain Specialists during the last 7 ½ years Dr. Shah treated me for seven years before Dr. Matsumura managed my care but both provided many injections and pain medications to treat the problems I’ve been struggling with since my first right shoulder surgery July 2008. Since that time I’ve had five additional shoulder surgeries and developed Complex Regional Pain Disorder and peripheral neuropathy in my left foot. They’ve skillfully treated me and have comforted me when my pain was unmanageable and my depression was overwhelming.I’ve also become attached to their entire caring staff, particularly Ashley and Leslie. Their facility is always clean, neat and their operating rooms are exceptionally well equipped and their technical staff is well-trained. I highly endorse them and encourage all who are struggling with osteoarthritis and post operative problems to call for an evaluation and treatment. Thanks again to Dr. Shah and Dr. Matsumura for everything!Judy Dykman

I called for an appointment and because I didnt yet have a diagnosis from a specialist but did have a referral from my doctor they would not see me. Could not believe they didnt want to help me or at least talk to me about my symptoms before turning me away. My wife called them back to find out why specifically they turned me away after requesting they take a second look. We got a phone call today, December 22, 2016 three weeks after trying to setup an appointment and now they will take my appointment. Meanwhile I am seeking treatment now elsewhere. My conversations with Utah Pain Specialists were frustrating. I have never had a conversation with medical personnel that was so uncooperative and unprofessional. I hope they dont treat all potential patients this way without trying to find out what it is we are looking for or how they can possibly help us.

I have been seeing Dr. Kyle Matsumura for the past several months. Prior to my contact with Dr. Matsumura I have seen multiple doctors in different fields. When I began my treatment at Utah Pain Specialists, I had given up hope of ever finding a diagnosis and a doctor who would treat me not only with respect, but also encourage me to participate in my care. Finally I found a doctor I could go to that did not want to just put me on medication, but was also concerned with every aspect of my health. This includes physical, mental and emotional concerns. For the first time in ten years someone in the medical field believed in the severity of my pain, did not treat my like I was drug seeking and gave me hope during my darkest time. I believe that he is not going to give up on me and that I am a person to be cared about not just a medical case number.I recently had an experience where I was hospitalized for a different problem that required surgery. After I was released my pain from this surgery increased. I called the doctor who performed the procedure to see if the pain was normal. I never received a return call. By then it was the weekend and as my pain continued to worsen I became more anxious and upset. I called the clinic and left a detailed message. Within a couple of hours Dr. Matsumura returned my call. He assured me that what I was experiencing was normal and gave me several suggestions for reducing the pain. I think the fact that he returned my call helped more than anything.I have always felt that he and his staff are concerned about the meds I am being given. They are not just writing me a prescription to get me out the door. There are medicines that can only be renewed monthly because of FDA regulation. This makes it necessary for me to be seen monthly. I know that Dr. Matsumura is consistently reviewing my medications to look for drug interactions and is giving me the smallest amount required to control my pain. I feel like the APRN, FNP-C that I have seen is more than competent to handle my needs when I cant see Dr. Matsumura. I also know that Dr. Matsumura will make himself available if needed. The Utah Pain Specialist clinic staff and Dr. Matsumura specifically are some of the finest medical care givers. I would and have recommended them to friends and family who have chronic pain issues.
