Good experience overall. Glad to be placed with patients who were considered to be “high functioning” so that I didn’t feel like I was in a psych ward you see in the movies. Made some good friends. Food was kind of gross, and it was a challenge advocating for myself in some ways, but the staff was efficient in letting me choose a new doctor so I would say that’s still a win.All the nurses were great and understanding when I voiced any of my concerns even going as far as texting the doctor if they were already gone for the day.Just do what you’re told - remember that it’s probably for a reason and you will do just fine at this facility. If you expect to have all of the normal amenities outside of a hospital setting, don’t forget your in a mental health facility and certain regulations aren’t being imposed because of YOU, but for the safety of the staff and yourself.

I would not even give this place one star. 0 stars. Please please please take these reviews into consideration before taking your loved one here. I wish I would have. Not only is ALL of the staff rude, but very unprofessional. They do not care about helping just care about money. If you want your loved one to become an expert at word searches, sudoku, shuffling cards, coloring, this is the place for them. They don’t do anything to help. The doctor only talks to them for 5 min and that’s it. And takes more than 24 hours to get to the patient from the time they were admitted. They talk badly about the patients there in front of other patients, don’t help the disabled people get around, and the “schedule” they have they do not follow. All they do is sit around and chat. PLEASE do not bring your loved one here!! And if your loved one calls and says they want to leave even with signing an AMA, they won’t let them leave they will LIE and make up diagnosis that are not true just to keep them there and when you look at the discharge papers, they stuff they tell you does not add up with what’s on the papers. They are liars and will do anything for money. Please STAY AWAY FROM HERE AND FAMILY PSYCHIATRY. THEY DO NOT WANT TO HELP THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY.(The good reviews you see on here is the staff leaving reviews to get you to come here. They are not real)Dr.Lucas “CEO” please do better.

Insurance companies please do not authorize this facility; and therapists, please stop referring patients here. They will not do anything their brochure says they will do. They do not treat, they do not run any effective programs. Please look elsewhere. We took a loved one there suffering from major depression and anxiety disorder on the the advise of a therapist and it was literally the worst decision we have made. We then had to fight to remove her after 3 wasted days. I know now what to look for and what questions to ask. This has negatively impacted the way our entire family now views the mental health profession. The only good thing to come out of this terrible experience is she can now ace word search puzzles and sudoku puzzles, as that is apparently their treatment program for hours of wasted days.

My grandson saw an unrelated counselor two days before trying to enroll in outpatient counseling in this facility. The counselor confirmed outpatient was all he needed. Once this facility interviewed him, they refused to let him leave snd said if he did not volunteer inpatient treatment, they would have a judge commit him. Two weeks later they diagnosed and treated him for bi-polar disorder. He was released for outpatient treatment. They pretty much made it sound like he would not be released if he didn’t sign that he would pay uncovered financial balances. He is now being hounded for balances due that he can never pay. He won’t seek further treatment because of all that happened at this facility. He can’t hold a job and pretty much moves from home to shelter to another home or the woods constantly. They did not solve any of his mental issues and added to it by the constant stress of the bill collector. They are only interested in money here and their staff intimidates patients snd their families. Please find somewhere else for your loved ones.

The experience at this hospital is HORRIBLE! It is obvious who is running this place does not know what they are doing. I had a loved one stay here for a week and they had to use their bedsheets as a towel. And no, they were not given another bedsheet to sleep with. He informed me that his room and restroom still had the previous patients belongings and the place was not wiped down. He was disgusted and horrified. He also said that he had to starve one morning because all they had was cereal since the cafe workers did not come in that morning.

As a mental health professional, I often help individuals who are in need of inpatient or IOP programs. Woodland Springs is always my first choice for referral! Unlike other psychiatric hospitals, when you walk in to the lobby, it doesnt feel like you are walking into a psych facility. The staff is friendly, cheerful, and patient. When I toured the facility with Julie, I was struck by how updated everything was. The rooms reminded me of a college dorm room. Whenever I have needed to reach one of my clients, I have been able to communicate with them by phone, and the discharge planners clearly are invested in making sure each individual has a support system set up when they leave. I would recommend Woodland Springs for anyone in need of help!!

It also seemed that the White patients were segregated from the black patients, as the White patients were housed separately from the Black patients. This is my first time having to work with a facility like this. I read the mixed reviews but figured Id give them a chance.Theres very little to no communication with the staff and among shift changes. I had to repeatedly tell my story and really never got anywhere with anyone. I was told my concerns would be escalated, but when I followed up with upper management no one had been informed. My 13-year old son was in the facility for 24 hours and my husband and I had to make several calls to find out information about his condition and evaluation. They refused to call us back. Their nursing staff had the nerve to ask my permission to medicate him, but would not inform me of what his diagnosis was. I went to the facility and requested my son be discharged and was threatened by the staff and doctors that CPS would be contacted since I withdrew him against medical advice..funny thing is, there was no medical advice ever provided since no one ever returned my call. This doctor who sees the adolescent patients, Dr. Khurram Shaikh is extremely sarcastic, rude and uncaring. He did not provide any explanation of the evaluation conducted with my son and would not elaborate or address any of my concerns. I am very disappointed that such a nice facility has enough bad apples to turn me away. I would NOT recommend this place at all.

While waitong, there was a mom who was there trying to get her daughter out.. and had waited over 24 hours for the doctor. Her daughter was being bullied by the other girls, admittedly. I’m choosing not to use my real name even though my experience was positive due to the fact that I would rather not have the entire city knowing my personal business...anyways...I found this hospital by internet search and decided to send an e-mail to find out more about the facility. The supervisor of their admission department responded quickly and was very helpful. She then had her staff reach out to me and scheduled me for an appointment. I understand they are busy and that the process isn’t as quick as we would like it to be, but the receptionist and admission staff tried their best to get me taken care of as quickly as possible. Once I was on the unit the nurses were thorough and very knowledgeable about my medications and what to expect with treatment. My psychiatrist was Dr Lucas and I have to say he’s the best—if you go ask him to be your doctor—he’s down to earth and a very pleasant guy. I was there for about 9 days—seems long, but with the programming and learning about my disorder it made sense and was worth it. During my stay I even met the big man in charge the CEO—Dustin. Not sure many patients can say that the CEO comes to see how you are, but this hospitals CEO made me feel like I mattered. I have to say I felt pretty mixed about this place. I was here for multiple months doing both the inpatient and then outpatient programs. To start let’s talk about the staff. Overall extremely good! Therapists here are incredible! They are great at teaching, understanding and helping patients. I was so pleasantly surprised by them, they gave me so many tools to keep going in life and they are some of the best therapists I’ve ever had the pleasure of going to, especially Sean in outpatient is a fantastic counselor/social worker. And I can’t recommend him enough. Psychiatrist wise, Dr. Lucas is also incredible. He’s very busy but he’s good at what he does no doubt. Nurse Bill in outpatient is also super awesome, very informative and helpful. PCAs are also pretty great, there are a lot of issues but I think they are mostly out of their control. Now aside from the staff there’s a lot to say for me. I had a number of bad experiences here, and i can’t say this would be the usual, as others didn’t seem to have the same issues I did. But regardless. This is a “new” hospital but changes are constantly being done. When I was in the inpatient section another unit was in half of the one I was put in. Meaning men and women were mixed(which wasn’t really an issue to be fair) but we had half the space as well as interacting with the other units when we shouldn’t have been. This led to a lot of hostility between people in the units. The reason they did this is because this again “new” hospital had construction going on. Even on our side they locked us out of our rooms for quite sometime to make changes during several days. When I first arrived at inpatient after I finishing my assessment(this takes many hours, but if you’ve ever been in a hospital setting that is 100% expected.) but when they took me back I ended up sitting in a chair for another six hours, I was not given a room until 10pm (lights out) and it wasn’t ready at all when they brought me to it.(this surprised the night staff as well.) They had constant shortages of towels, meaning I had to skip basic hygiene some days. As well as shortages of blankets, which is horrible because they keep hospital environments cold. I only had my own stuff to keep me warm which frankly wasn’t enough some nights.(and my stuff didn’t even get back to me the same day my family dropped it off.) so there were many nights when I was just freezing my butt off until morning. When they finally took the other unit out of ours they were very hasty about moving the female patients over to that section. So hasty that my room was not cleaned at all(including the bathroom) and I wasn’t given sheets or a pillow until lights out.(which again surprised and upset the night staff.) I do want to say, I don’t think this was intentional. But the mismanagement and lack of communication between staff and the hospital and their suppliers is completely undeniable, which makes the patients suffer on the back end. Which in my opinion is this hospitals biggest problem.Working with the people in outpatient was a much better experience, but between much of the staff there are still large errors in communication. When I was finally discharged I was not told at all, nor did anyone go over discharge information with me.(As they are supposed to as far as I know.) This made me feel so much more uncomfortable with the process than I was when it was first discussed. At any rate I didn’t even know I was discharged until a couple days later, I showed up for group again.(Because again this was up the in air as far as I knew since my therapist was out on sick leave. Even though I asked no one mentioned what was happening with my discharge.) I drove over an hour to get there only to find out I WAS in-fact discharged when I was “supposed” to be.But yes, this place comes with a lot of good and you’ll probably run into some issues. Mostly due to a poorly functioning system that is in place. However, the staff is great and most of them are willing to do their best to help you with errors where they can.

You are to attend each activity, but not all activities seemed beneficial to me. Some of them you’re not told it’s going on, like the computer time. I thought there were too many smoke breaks. It seemed every hour smokers got to go outside. Those who don’t smoke sat around inside. Ones who have asthma can’t go out due to having an attack. One of the employees made an exception for me to go outside once, but nobody could smoke. It gets a little closed in when you can’t go outside, which was very nice of him. The food was not good, but I’m a very picky eater. The snacks they sat out for us were good. They should have more healthy food and let us workout everyday for the ones who workout. Dr Lucas is awesome. He is very easy to talk to, down to earth and laid back. The only big problem I had with Woodland Springs is how long it takes to check in. I was with shake I didn’t feel quite comfortable with him I felt that he was putting everyone on the same meds and that was the only meds he knew from what I have experience and other told me he put them on the same thing we also had four different patients with the same name and I my self had to double check to make sure my medication was right because the old guy seem like he didn’t know what he was doing and almost gave me the wrong medicine I had to warn the lady at front about it and let her know this is a big issue and could be a law suite I also had an issue with them not labeling my stuff and having them trying to take away some of my thing and I got into with one of the lady and the almost lost my cell phone while I keep getting move that the only bad experience that I have had. But other then that I have really enjoyed being at that place I honestly wasn’t ready to go home cause I meet so many amazing people as well. Y’all have had help me out and I do appreciate it.

With all earnestness, I hope this hospital has improved significantly since I visited shortly after it opened. Doctors have these jobs as their side jobs and truly reprehensibly treat it like one. I irrevocably saw a couldn’t-care-less RN make a patient wail once; that Trinidadian bitch’s RN badge is more believable as a halloweeen costume & Should be fired. As for the physical composition, fabulous! “Don’t judge a book, particularly a mental hospital, by it’s cover.” 0.5-0.75 stars.I only imagine how much trouble from and $ people’ve got from suits against this place.

Will give more stress to suicidal patients then what they went in with! They place the suicidal patients in the same unit as the homicidal-thoughts patients. I had a homicidal roommate who threatened to kill me on multiple occasions. Im known to be anxious as-is, so I told the staff. They told me We will keep an eye on them. But no. We stayed in the same room, and I received more threats. My family session was rushed and sloppy. Did not monitor bullying inside the facility. Was physically attacked by a patient, RIGHT NEXT TO A NURSE. punishments include, everyone being stuck in the unit, a shot that makes you lose it, and threats. I was screamed at by a nurse while having a panic attack for looking outside my room when I heard fighting. Ended up in a second hospital, which I ACTUALLY RECCOMEND. GO TO BEHAVIORAL HOSPITAL OF BELLAIRE!!

I have a family member who was there twice this year. Both times he wasn’t ready to be discharged. Both times his doctor was Dr Roopa. I don’t think he had good care. She pushes patients to get ECT and it actually made him worse. His doctor gave him Klonopin 3 times. a day to keep him under control and when the insurance quit paying she called me to get him. I told her that he wasn’t any better. She said he needed to do partial hospitalization 5 days a week at another hospital, which shows that he obviously wasn’t ready to come home . He I said he won’t do that. She said well the insurance isn’t paying anymore so he can’t stay here. She also said that if he chooses to not go to the other hospital there is nothing she can do about it. He initially was brought there by the police because he was suicidal. She wasn’t very concerned that he wasn’t any better. 2 days later he was admitted to Bellaire Behavioral Health because he was a lot worse. That is a great hospital. He had an amazing doctor who was able to really help him. He is now discharged from there and doing better than he has In a very long time. If you have someone who needs help don’t take them to Woodland Springs, take them to Bellaire Behavioral Hospital.

I had my child in this facility and am very disappointed. First no one communicated with me on my child’s treatment or how my child was doing. I got a phone call from this Therapist to tell me that he met with my child twice and that my child would not communicate with him, and was going to be gone for 3 to 4 days and would talk to me or my child again till after Sunday when he got back and I would meet with me Tuesday. Instead I get a phone call on that Monday telling me they want to discharge child before I ever got to meet anybody to find out what my child’s diagnosis was how my child was doing and what needed to be done. During my child’s 5 days stay I received two phone call from a nurse to tell me that they were putting him on a m s medication and an allergy med. Never was I called by the psychiatrist . And I never received another phone call from his therapist until I met with him that Tuesday .While in their care I brought up my child’s homework they proceeded to lose my child’s homework and it was not found for three days later. The only reason that I found out that was because I asked my child about the homework .I wish they cared more about the patients then they cared about the income that the patient brings.

This hospital is phenomenal and exceeded my expectations. I’m not one to write reviews but I feel like this hospital and the staff deserve recognition. I’m reading through other reviews on here and am completely amazed at some of the negative things some of these people have to say. And I must say I think these are the people who use blame as a tool while in attack mode. These are the people who believe blame helps you preserve your sense of self-esteem by avoiding awareness of your own flaws or failings. Staff were empathetic and showed genuine concern for my well being. The hospital is still fairly new and very clean. I highly recommend Woodland Springs Hospital to anyone with a mental health issue crisis that needs to get stable again.

A family member was admitted for all three phases of treatment: in-patient, partial-hospitalisation (PHP) and intensive out-patient (IOP) over a 7 week period. Indeed, from initial intake all the way through final discharge, the entire staff was very professional and willing to help every step of the way.As for the program itself, the life skills learned were (and still are) incredibly valuable. From understanding what self-worth means to learning how to self-calm, Dr. Lucas, the psychiatrist, and the therapists (Sean and Kelly) were patient, encouraging, and especially kind but yet firm in their delivery, tone and message - the very structure my loved one needed to help reestablish a foundation upon which to live and boundaries around which to keep. The administration staff was equally professional and diligent. The business side (Teresa) helped with insurance and billing while the CEO, Dustin, took a personal interest and ensured that his facility was running in top form. Even the drivers who picked up and dropped off were punctual and the reception staff always greeted and welcomed whoever walked in, myself included.I have already recommended Woodland Springs to one coworker and another personal friend. With that said, if you have a loved one in dire straits, given my experience with this hospital, Dustin and Woodland Springs would be an excellent choice to help get your loved one back on track.

DON’T GO HERE SEEKING HELP; this place is a joke! If I could give no stars I would. All this place wants is money from you. All they do is dope you up on pills. The staff treats patients like dogs; each person has their own set of “rules”. The staff will will demand you take sleeping pills or else threaten you with a shot. They will also call you names like monkey. The Threapist Shelby will pretend to be trusting and once you open up she will stab you in the back! There are no one on one sessions, only group sessions. Who wants to talk about personal stuff in front of people you don’t even know. Shelby will cause to even more problems once you leave, she’s a joke of a Threapist. The place is never cleaned, they never have towels, sheets, pillow cases, ect. The will hold you hostage even if you go in voluntarily. I wouldn’t send my dog to this place.

The only good thing about the whole treatment was the staff and everything else is not. They dont even have a good system or process at all. I tried to ask for medical note from the receptionist and all they told me is to provide my information. I did and waited for weeks and still have not got any. I went back and forth to check for updates for just that. Today, i went here to check if they have it already and Ashley gave me a form for the very first time to fill out and have to wait 14days which i really needed it by this coming monday. She cant do about it and told me have to wait. Well thank you for letting me mnow that your system sucks.

Do NOT go to this facility. This is not a place for either you or your loved one. Dr. Shaikh is a sexist man who gaslights his own patients. He denounces any valid claims against him by saying to the patients youre just being manic or you dont know what youre talking about. He uses the medical information of patients against them, example to say nothing a bipolar patient says is real because youre manic, go away. The Woodlands Springs holds patients hostage, violating their own patient bill of rights, to milk insurance money. Patients who want to leave, as is their right, are threatened with being dragged back with a court order. Take comfort however that the local courts know this hospital is no good, and are often in the patients corner. Too much of the hospital staff is untrained, and that is completely unacceptable given that this is a mental health hospital with high risk patients. Patients with needs are ignored by the nurses. Patients DO NOT SEE A DOCTOR OR THERAPIST DAILY, EVEN WHEN THEY ARE PROMISED SUCH. Patients who have health conditions like epilepsy are denied their own medication and told well dont have a seizure, I guess. Either Marshall Lucas is a complete ignorant idiot who has no control or awareness of his hospital or the similarly terribly-run Woodlands Family Psychiatry, or he is a liar with manipulative, heinous business practices. This hospital is the epitome of preying on the weak and kicking them while theyre down. It invests the least possible amount of effort possible to farm the most money. Loved ones on the outside receive little to no information about their persons on the inside. The front desk does the least to answer any questions. But they sure start moving and stop pretending theyre ignorant when you let them know they are kidnapping a patient, and youre calling the cops.

A family member was there recently and I have to say that the facility itself was amazing and the staff except 1 person was amazing. Dr. Khurram Shaikh needs to be removed from his position here. He broke several ethical codes divulging conversations to a minor. The meds he prescribed were also meds we informed him that she had adverse reactions to and nothing was done. The rest of the staff was amazing. I would recommend this place, however, if your loved one gets Dr. Shaikh, immediately ask for another Dr.

My child spent some time here and the experience was terrible. They do not have enough staff to monitor the teenagers or supplies. They will not give your childbthe supplies you bring in. My child was told they didnt have toothbrushes, the bed was filthy, snacks were not always available and there is barely any one on one therapy for your child. The detailed calendar they give you at intake is a COMPLETE lie. Your child will sit for hours on in and mainly only attend group sessions. Individual sessions are 15 to 30 minutes. Anthony, one of the therapist, is rude and should never be in this profession. After several days, our child learned nothing. When we asked about their treatment plan and when they would be discharging our child we were made to feel like bad parents and were told we needed to wait. They would tell us when they were ready. It wasnt until we told them we were going to submit an AMA or consult a lawyer that all of a sudden our child was dismissed. They will hold your child for the days approved by insurance whether they need to be there or not. And expect a very elaborate diagnosis. Our child was given a major diagnosis which their psychiatrist said was totally wrong. Please look elsewhere when considering mental health options. I would not send my worst enemy to this place.

The place is the absolute worst. I do not recommend bringing a loved one here for any sort of help. It’s useless and the biggest waste of time and money and definitely not at all worth the effort. The check in was insanely long and don’t dare try to call up there for information concerning your loved one. It’s a waiting game and no one knows anything or refuses to give any information regardless. It’s just the absolute worst place. The only good thing I can say is the front desk is pretty cool but for those behind the set of doors not at all. Especially the trama therapist Amanda. She’s probably the worst of all. Quite the c*nt. Excuse my language but the staff is terrible. Dont go here. I have so many more I ssues with this place but for now this is enough.
