My boyfriend had blood gushing from his head for 4 hours and they wouldn’t give him ice or anything while he was waiting, other people were even asking that they please help him before themselves. We waited outside and When we went in to check on him for a minute ( with masks on) a lady ( receptionist) screamed at us to get out and started pointing her finger in our faces. We left and a security guard chased us out for no reason, told us he would put us in cuffs if we “ came into his building again” and stood inches away from my mother in laws face, pointing his fingers at her. I’m in the health field so i understand it’s hard when you’re short staffed, but It doesn’t really matter if you’re short staffed, you don’t treat people like this. Additionally, not to dismiss others injuries but blood pouring from your head is serious. Any educated, compassionate healthcare professional would recognize this and at least provide a neurological test and give him something to properly stop the bleed with. Completely lacking in Bedside manner and compassion. This is inhumane and I wish I could say this was my only bad experience with concord hospital, specifically the emergncy department. Unfortunately every experience has been disgusting over the years, and on a steady decline.

When I called to asked if I could change the time to a later time in that afternoon because I was stuck at work I got told no unfortunate we dont have any openings today for a later time really? Ive had 5pm Apts before without any issues either in person or on the phone. Ive also said something to the same nurse about wanting my thyroid re-tested do to my medication and hair loss and the answer for that? oh to soon ..Oh boy.... Booked an appointment over the phone, was told they would email me the paperwork for the new patient enrollment. A week goes by and no paperwork. I call to get that fixed, thinking itll be 5, maybe 15 minutes in the worst case. I was given the runaround, each person telling me its not their job, transferring me to the next person, placing me on hold to listen to the awful information tone on repeat. 45 minutes later the last woman (nurse) that was trying to transfer me, and failing, decided to just hang up. I wish I got her name so I could report her for negligence, but all I know is she works in the internal medicine department. Called again, this time a different woman. It took her 3 minutes to send me the email containing the paperwork I needed. Awful experience. Completely ruined a good day.

I delivered my son here & was supposed to be discharged at a specific time, but waited well over that time for discharge papers. my carseat for my son was already assessed, but we were told they needed to check both of our vitals (when they were checked when it was around the time we were supposed to leave) & the carseat was already checked. we had to wait to feed my son since he was due to eat & they knew that. along with knowing my stepdad was waiting for us outside as well. on top of that, one of the nurses was rough with burping, picking up, & feeding when it came to my son. she also gave us an attitude when it came to us asking questions about caring for him as my boyfriend & i are first time parents. definitely never coming back here again. it’s honestly not worth what we went through.

I took my 87 yr old mother in law to the er at 2:00 pm. And walked out before getting treatment at 7:30 pm after telling us it would be a few more hours. I took her here Because of difficulty breathing and heart pains. I was told I could not be with her. I told them that she doesn’t understand what’s going on and she has a hard time comprehending things. They told me it doesn’t matter. I asked if I could at least go to register her but the woman told me no. Now mind you the big sign on the door says 1 companion allowed. The women said they would help her with anything she needs. Well not true. My mil is a very proud and respectful woman. And concord hospital took some of that away. Imagine how she felt when no one would help her and she ended up soiling her pants 3 times because no one would help her. She was so embarrassed and felt degraded. How could anyone do this to a person. I bet if it was any of the staffs or board of directors mother she would of been seen pronto. My mil whom I consider to be my mom deserved way more and better treatment. Never again will she be subjected to this kind of treatment. Shame on you CH. I bet you’ll even send her a bill.

I had no phone service to call my sister in the hospital and asked she could call upstairs and see if the nurse could let my sister know I am here and was informed that isnt my job. Nor would she let me go upstairs to ask my sister to go to the cafeteria so I could visit.

My mother was driven to Concord Hospital because at 87 years of age she woke up from a nap and asked to go to the hospital which she has never done, that means something is wrong. She actually has not felt well for months but today she felt something was not right. My mother has 17 stints in her heart and has kidney failure along with various other medical issues that she takes an exorbitant amount of medicine for. If my mother wants to go to the hospital there is something seriously wrong. I contacted the emergency room and let them know all of her medical situation and history because my family was not let inside the building and had to stay in the parking lot. Of course because of protocol, my elderly mother who is 87 was in the emergency room waiting room for three hours all by herself uncomfortable and extremely sick. The hospital doctor did visit my mother and started to run various tests but again she was still sitting in the waiting room uncomfortable and alone. After hours, I received a phone call that my mother wanted to sign out against medical advice. As a daughter who loves her mother you can imagine how I felt. Helpless my mother sitting in a waiting room for hours sick and helpless and just waiting. I wonder if any of the Board of Directors would have allowed their mother to sit there that long and if they did how they would feel. It is completely unacceptable and if Concord Hospital cannot handle patients on a Tuesday night they should stop lining their pockets, getting rich and add onto their hospital to handle the demand. Concord hospital, you should know that everyone I know that lives in the area would NOT send anyone they know to this hospital, you should be embarrassed. The only reason why I sent my mother to this hospital was because it was the closest. When I live in Candia my mother went to CMC where she got exceptional care and never sat in the waiting room more than 20 minutes because of her condition. You should be ashamed for your lack of care and ability to field patients that come in that need your help. Let me be clear… it is NOT your staff, everyone that I spoke to was amazing tonight. You fail at the leadership level to provide this hospital with what it needs to care for patients. I will never send my worst enemy to this hospital for care because any human being deserves better than what you provided tonight.

Took my husband in with acute gallbladder pain, (it ended up being necrotic). One thing I can say is that if you are in severe pain, call an ambulance. Folks from ambulances dont need to wait hours to be seen. The ER doc had it pinned down within 30 min once he was seen. However the doc on the ward questioned that dx and hubby had more tests to just find out the ER doc was right. Those tests took an extra day. A day hubby was in horrible pain. I never left his side after they tried to give him a med he is allergic to (yes it was on his records). That was difficult because unlike family friendly hospitals like Frisbee, CH has no sitting bench in the rooms to even lie down on and the room wasnt private which was surprising these days. Were newish to this side of the state and have begun looking for our future med facilities/docs. Were equal distance to Elliot and CH. Well be headed to Elliot in the future.

Growing up in NH it’s easy to get spoiled and criticize small injustices. For the past two years I have traveled across the country looking for a “better” place to live. The grass IS greener on the other side and this hospital IS the greener side. In NYC, Montana, Chicago, Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin there is NO better hospital than here. I’ve had care for a heart attack here, I gave birth here, brought my children here, and have received cancer testing and treatment here. The nurses are kind and attentive , the doctors are kind and attentive. The services are impeccable in contrast to the rest of the country. If there is a better hospital anywhere then I certainly haven’t found it. Currently pregnant with twins and tempted to just move back to NH.

In all fairness, I haven’t been to the hospital and this review reflects the affiliated practices and their business office!First of all... watch your bills!!!!! We were sent a bill after visiting primary care, paid the bill immediately. The next month, we received ANOTHER bill. Had we NOT been paying attention, we would have paid it again, but we DID pay attention and called them about this. Spoke with a representative at the number provided on the bill and contested the fee. We provided her with all the information from our bill pay including confirmation numbers, check number and date sent (well apart from when second bill was generated). She asked us to actually verify it came out of our account and we told her yes. We were told they would investigate this. Never heard from anybody again until they sent a THIRD bill for the same service, this time with warnings of being turned over to a collection agency or attorney. Called again, (this time we called our bank to get a copy of the cancelled check with the hospitals endorsement) and was told by their representative that I should go out of my way and physically carry this check to the hospital to prove I paid the bill. Again, had I not been paying attention, they would be getting paid a THIRD time for the same service. Ultimately, it turns out they applied my money to a wrong account, but didn’t bother to research it when I called it to their attention at the second bill. I was advised that the processing company is not actually employed by the hospital and I quickly informed them that since THEY chose said company, they don’t get a pass on that. Their system is inefficient and they are apparently amazingly dismissive of disputes and will continue to threaten their customers with (I’m sure routine) verbiage on their bills. If they make these mistakes - they’re definitely at risk for making other mistakes with their billing. Watch your money with them!Even with their primary care group, I was transferred from one office to another after my introductory appointment. I paid for this appointment (as I would expect to). When I was told they needed to transfer my care, I was asked about preferences with my next provider, none were honored and I was just dumped on to somebody else’s roster. I was told that I would AGAIN need to have an introductory appointment (just had one the last month) in order to continue my care. I was told this was so I could meet my new provider and they could review my health history (they had just thoroughly documented this a month prior with previous provider). I told the new office this didn’t make sense if their practice just had the exact same appointment last month, the person on the phone THAT day agreed. Later, when I needed a refill on meds I was told I couldn’t get a refill because I hadn’t “established care” with the introductory appointment again. I discussed this with the new person on the phone who was adamant that it needed to happen. I told them I would be happy to do lab work first and then meet with the provider but I wasn’t going to have an introduction, get sent for labs and then get called back in for a second appointment a week later. (This is what generates the aforementioned bill). It certainly seems trying to arrange for needless already completed appointments followed by “accidentally” losing my money and asking for it three times seemed sketchy.

I got my bill a few weeks later saying my insurance policy was not active (because they billed an old policy from several years ago when I was still on my parents plan). I called the billing center, gave the woman my correct policy and waited for the new adjusted bill. A month later, I called again because I had not gotten my new bill. The woman told me that there was no record of my last phone call (Which is weird because they always start the conversation with This call is being recorded, Yada yada) and my bill had never been sent to my current insurance provider.Update: After my last call, I left this review. A few days later, I received a phone call from (what I assume) a higher-up in the billing department. She told me to call her to get things straightened out. I called her direct line and was told that my insurance information was STILL incorrect. The last woman I spoke with missed a digit in my policy number; so my insurance still read as invalid. She was helpful, and Im really hoping this will be the last call I had to make. If you are having billing issues, I recommend going to the facility to speak with someone in person.

The hospital is clean and inviting - put the positiveness ends there. First of all apparently they do not subscribe to protecting patients sensitive information since in the Emergency Room there is no privacy so you get everyones full personal details, medical history and the ailment they are there for all while sitting in the waiting room. Also parading my urine sample in a clear bag through the waiting room was pretty demeaning. The nurses were not bad but you definitely get the hurry up and a get out kind of vibe. Additionally my wait time to get back to a room from the waiting room was approximately 4.5 to 5 hours....yeah too long! This hospital could be so much better if they instilled more privacy for patients and addressed emergency room wait times (this seems like a tough one though).

There are several help desks throughout the buildings. Yes... buildings. There are three total. This hospital was exceptionally clean. All hospitals usually are...but this one was something else. The cafe is well stocked to meet ALL dietary needs.

A healthy and unusual stop for a lunch when in townIf youre lucky & they have the citrus salmon- dont hesitate. Dig in.Its a friendly hospital, full of really great nursing staff. There is free parking, handicap access, a large inside dining area and a separate but still enclosed smaller room. Its a Heart Healthy diet so choices are balanced for you.The hospital offers this to the public as well to help make prepared, healthy meals available for anyone at reasonable cost.

Brought my 90 year old Dad to the Emergency room on Monday at 12:15 pm and they didnt see him until 4:55 pm! I felt like I was in a third world facility. Once they had a bed available for him to be seen in Emergency, the waiting game continued. The PA that came in to see him was nice, but her white coat was so filthy and didnt look like it had ever been washed, her pants were ripped on the bottom and she was walking on them - not impressive at all! The halls were all cluttered with stuff everywhere, the janitors filthy cart was on the floor next to items that should be sanitary like white towels used on patients. The girl that set Dad up to do his IV did a horrible job, blood all over his bed and hands, she said oops, sorry! Then she didnt clean him up, I did! It gets better......They come in to do an EKG, took about 5 minutes ( thats fine ) stood back and pulled the wires off him all at once, said that was easy and left the room. They left all the sticky ports all over his body, I removed them before we left. Then an hour of waiting, they come take him to do a cat scan and when they return him no one comes into the room to hook him back up to machine that was monitoring his heart rate and blood pressure so I figured it out and hooked him back up. 45 Minutes later the technician came in and I told her I hooked it up, she said, oh no one came back in, nope, I figured it out. She said, you did good. The Doctor that finally came in to see him was excellent, clean, professional, and seemed thorough. Oh, the male technician or nurse that was in and out came in to take his IV out, pulls out some gloves from the box, three fall to the floor ( just left them there ) removed the IV and then threw it in the trash can, not the needle box, and then commented on all the blood on the bed from the technician that installed it. It was quite an experience, I was very disappointed and it left me quite concerned and more motivated to stay healthy! Maybe it all boils down to staffing shortages or just poor management! Someone please help this hospitals ER! -- Good experience in other areas of the hospital I must report, the ER though, wow!

Pay no attention to to negative comments. Obviously the younger generation has no idea what its like to need a hospital. (YET). This is such a wonderful hospital. I know, they will treat you for whatever you need FIRST, money comes later. Meaning, your financial situation has nothing to do with your care. They will help you first. I love this hospital. The nurses are caring human beings. Its not easy to smile all day after seeing the stuff they do, but they do it. Doctors come and go, the nurses are the heart of this hospital.

They left my girlfriend with a life threatening issue. She was admitted into the ER for a torn abdominal muscle. Knowing she had an ovarian cyst that may add complications, she requested an ultra sound be done. They told her not to worry and that was not an issue. The care providers refused to even take her concerns into consideration. She ended up having a Adnexal Torsion. Concord hospital had her performing physical therapy tasks engaging the effected area, all the while denying her a second opinion. When she finally received care the cyst had burst, her ovary had no blood circulation and she was becoming septic. At that time she was under a hundred pounds from being a healthy 140 and emotionally defeated before receiving care. She lost half of her reproductive system, and almost lostbher life. Now with the torn muscle from the initial injury She has been fighting to get back to the active life she had before this incident. Concord hospital has refused to accept any responsibility for their obvious negligence. If it is a serious matter avoid at all cost.I wouldnt trust a care giver at concord hospital to tie my shoes.

Excellent care here, and certainly one of the finest all around hospitals in the State. The Doctors and staff are caring, and the service and care received is generally optimal. Yet, just recently, and within the last decade, I have been having issues with the executive staff at Concord. Some doctors, who are additionally on their Board, magnanimously loan out their time on weekends to serve the public (in the Emergency Department, for example), and can develop a somewhat haughty attitude.... Security has increased, and as a result, Concord Hospital perhaps has developed a sour or abrasive edge to what was a very loving and caring institution. I have been having fair difficulty of late relating to some of their doctors and executives, in regard to myself, and care for other members of my family...However, my recent experience with the Doctors, Executives, and Security staff may not have been truly representative. Yet it is still somewhat worrisome. Nonetheless, with the sterling past service record (I have lived in the state for 20 years), and still formidable array of doctors, Concord Hospital still merits a 5 star score. But there are fissures appearing.

Security guard Bruce has a chip on his shoulder! After the concord police call concord fire because of shortness of breath. and taken to the ER . After treatment i told the staff i had no way of getting home they kept saying do not worry we will get you home some how. after the discharge me i asked about the ride and was denied. now i told them had no money to pay. I said i would just stay in waiting until morning and i would get a ride, this was 1:30 am was told i could not stay in waiting room. so i ask , you want a 57 old male with bad heart and pacemaker ? to walk in the middle of the night 4 miles with snow ans ice or the roads? Security guard Bruce said yup. And this place says there care about you! NOT JUST YOUR MONEY

A few months ago I broke my wrist and ended up in the emergency room. What started out as excellent turned a bit worse and ended up ok at the end. When I arrived (drove myself) I was in a lot of pain. They took me within the first five minutes, got vital signs and basic info. Asked me about the pain level which I described as a 10, worst Ive ever felt. Got some ice and a pillow which helped straighten it up a bit. I sat down to wait. 10 minutes later (pretty good time I thought) I was led down to get x-rays taken. Back out to the waiting area and that is where things got worse. No pain relief and I sat out there for 90 minutes before getting in to see a Doctor. At that point I got some pain meds and they proceeded to straighten out the wrist. Got a friend to give me a ride home.

Concord Hospital is one of the finest hospitals in NH. My experience at this facility was scary, and they made me feel very comfortable. I had to have back surgery as I could hardly walk, the day of surgery, waiting for the operation was the worst. Each staff member came to me with a smile and reassurance that everything would be alright. The anesthesiologist promised me that he would have the Chippendales there to help turn me over for the back surgery, and he made me laugh and feel comfortable and secure. My only disappointment was I cant remember his name, and I didnt get to see the Chippendales. DARN. After the surgery, there was always someone in the room, time after time after time, I dont believe I was ever alone. The care was amazing and the nurses and staff were just wonderful. Concord Hospital is top notch, there is always someone to tick you off, but you need to overlook that and move on. Your stay has a lot to do with YOU as well. Wonderful experience.....thank you Concord Hospital for taking good care of me.

Wonderful experience at Concord Hospital Day Surgery . My 9 yr son had oral surgery on 8/2/17 everyone was GREAT checking in, all of the nursing staff in pre-op especially Tracy (lead recovery Nurse I believe )and Dr. Mark Scura (oral surgeon). A difficult and stressful day made much easier by all the great staff . One thing that impressed me was how great they all were with my son explaining everything and making him smile at the same time.

Good luck if you dont go in by ambulance. Wait is regularly between 2 and 3 hours, they dont check up on anybodys condition, and the staff is needlessly hostile towards patients in the waitng room. Just doesnt operate like most hospitals. Worth an extra drive somewhere else.

Waited in the Emergency room waiting room for about 3 hours with a dislocated shoulder. Minimal communication in regards to what the hold up was and when I could expect to be seen. Finally got back to a room and the nurse walks in after waiting in the room for 30 minutes stating there are minimal doctors and an extensive list of people to be seen and to expect to be here for a few more hours at minimum. Absolutely ridiculous.

The emergency department is NOT the entire hospital - I encourage those who seek to review the emergency room to specifically go to review the Emergency Department. The ER is SWAMPED from about 9 PM to 3 AM. It will usually be a while depending on the day. Ive been there too. They only have the resources they have. Write your senators, and be glad you arent dying convsing in pain on the Dartmouth ER waiting room floor.I was born here, and havent had a problem with them since. They do not over- or under- prescribe opioids, which I really appreciate in the current crisis. Their network of treatment teams, clinics, and specialists have been very helpful to me, with refreshingly few quacks and rude personnel. Theyre genuinely very compassionate, in my experience.

Ive been to this Hospital on several occasions since I moved to Concord New Hampshire. This hospital has been great every single time except for the last time I was there. I went into the ER for the same reason severe pain shortness of breath chest pain and ascites from liver damage. I showed up at 6 PM, was not called back after triage until 12 am. Another hour goes by before getting anything for pain, then the ER doctor who is new to the area and is only work there for one week comes in and tells me that they dont drain fluids which Ive had drain there for other times but shell do a sample test to see if Im septic should have read the instructions on the kit. Cause me the worst pain that I have ever had and then told me that she would give me something stronger than morphine for pain. The nurse comes in says the doctor ordered morphine 20 minutes goes by Im still in severe pain Im thinking the doctor did something wrong maybe injured me inside so she gives me another dose of morphine still in severe pain she gives me two more doses of Dilaudid. Still in severe pain still full of fluid they move me to another room a half an hour later they discharged me and have me sleep off the pain medications in the waiting room in a chair until 6 a. M. All this doctor worried about was trying to get talked me into a flu shot because she gets one and so does her kids. I believe this doctor needs to be retrained or schooled on the practices of an ER if you dont know how to do a paracentesis and dont puncture somebodys abdomen for a sample. Furthermore this has been the worst experience that Ive ever had at not only this hospital but any Hospital and until this ER doctor is removed I will be going to another hospital.

This is probably my third time here in a year. All for emergency visits. The front desk people are too busy joking around talking about God knows what and when it comes to patient care there is no compassion and no care. One lady was literally vomiting and the front desk people seemed to be very focused on their discussion of their vacation. The wait is 5 hours long and not worth it as you could probably die in the waiting room and that will be their next discussion. I just moved to the area not too long ago so this is a bit crazy and from what the man at the desk said, something that is normal now. If you have an emergency, my suggestion would be to find another hospital or call an ambulance
