Have to be on the phone all day and try and get through to someone... When they send me a letter a few days before I have to make a phone appointment and was closed for a Monday Holiday and now I cant get through...because they have a high amount of phone calls and not enough people working because they are protesting the vaccination mandate for state works....Great Job, Yeah Right, Im working full time and need cal fresh to feed my family!

Gate is close so its hard to find parking. The DPSS workers are on the other side of the fence. I gave them my information pretty nice and helpful staff. We do have to wait outside. A few hours later i was helped. Filled in some paper work drop it off. 👍

The DPSS office is closed do to Covid-19, Security Guards are rude. They cant answer questions. I just wanted to know where we could drop off some paperwork with a friend and that was difficult for the Guards to explain. When we called a head of time DPSS made it sound like if you could just drive up to a drop off box were people could access with no problem. But the Security Guards have a bad attitude and didnt want to answer any questions. Even though the mail box drop off was right next to where they were sitting. Finally after about 6 times of asking repeatedly and explaining we just wanted to know where the drop box is located we were told where the drop box was located. DPSS official should be giving out this information to their client. So they dont have to bother asking the Security Guards who are to busy sitting down sleeping and dont want to be bothered. Its a hostel environment. Not good for DPSS clients to get treated like that. No one should be treated like that. Im surprised that is my tax $$$ dollars at work. Im surprised no one has not gotten hurt yet. It should not be that hard to drop off paperwork.

Medical - Medical Insurance, GR, EBT Food Card Help, low income housing, for no income & or low income families & individuals that need help.Lots & lots of paperwork to fill out in there office & or you can fill out just about any & all of there paperwork online & or use there DPSS APP that you can download for free from the Google app store but not to sure about Apple phones & so on.As well as you can upload any & all documents needed by them to see all what they can & or can not help you out with.Thanks Again,DJE

The employees are doing their best under the current circumstances with the pandemic. Had to wait longer than I would have liked, on the phone, then wait at the front gate (because office is closed to public) but all the telephone employees/ office worker were friendly and professional and they get the full 5 *****thank you

The System Setup,has always been a difficult,frustrating,uneventful-nightmare,and it seems that it was designed to (Mal-)function that way,and for Quality Customer Assurance,when attempting to contact The Caseworker,assigned to stay on my-case,making it even more unpleasant,and/or I cant even get ahold of her,if I do,Im put on hold&someone hangs-up the telephone&disconnects our conversation concerning constant unresolved issues,of keeping my case-file-open,so to prevent any of my benefits from being cutoff/stopped.

This Department of Social Services Office is very fast in helping the Handicapped that is standing in Line. They dont have to wait in line for a long period of time they take them first. Their Customer Service is Excellent.

This place is NOT UPSCALE! Its tremendously OVERCROWDED. It reminds me of some sort of jailhouse- except you get to leave when you wish to and on your own terms. Try not to go in person unless its absolutely nescessary.There are VERY LONG LINES. Im talking multiple HOURS. And when you finally get to the front door you will encounter rude security guards that will put you through a metal detector and search your bag and take away all of your lighters and the sharp objects- knives, box cutters, things like that and will not ever return them. So, leave that stuff in your car if you ever want to see it again or if you came by bus then hide your contraband in the bushes. Ive done that before- just make sure nobody sees you do it or they might go dig it up and keep it.Like I said, this is not an upscale place nor are the people there an upscale crowd. But there is hope: most everything you would come here to accomplish can be done over the phone &/or online. It will just take a few more days to get your cal-fresh/food stamp card in the mail. If you must have it that same day then plan on spending the entire day there.There is one bright, happy light: A fairly decent lunch truck comes around noon and stays most of the afternoon. Just make sure youre not outside at the lunch truck or smoking a cigarette when they call your name because then youll have to wait an additional few hours for them to call it again. Went in on September 2019 about medical to show proof of income. The lady was very very rude and didn’t even let me talk! She seemed as if she was ready to go home. Seemed very frustrated. She rolled her eyes when she saw me and I tried to asked her questions and didn’t even let me finish so I didn’t get proof that I was there! Now 2020 and since my mail let getting stolen I didn’t know that the Medicals aren’t active. So that just means she didn’t care about my proof and she didn’t turn it in! No wonder i went in and out In less than 8 minutes! Some of the workers get too comfortable at their job. It’s a job that they are getting paid for so I think they should treat everyone with respect. Problems or any other issues should be handled elsewhere. If you ever show up to any of these locations please ask for printed proof with date, time and reason of visit with the worker who helped you. So it makes it easier to put a complaint. That behavior towards others is not be acceptable.

Ms Townes from housing has a very bad attitude , she always cut me off when Im trying to talk and she always laugh when i ask her an obvious question. She blows while Im trying to explain something because to her, Im taking too long to explain or as if I am stupid. Unfortunately i have to always laugh it off when she gives her snotty attitude. Just because I am on TEMPORARY gov. assistance doesnt mean i should get disrespected by a worker whos suppose to HELP not complain and be a rude person.

Thank you to mrs bangchalotorn and ms landeros . Landeros gave me aid when I was out of work , and mrs banchalotorn gave me the assistance and resources to find a really good union job. Thank you for your help. It isn’t like it once was. The wait is not long and the case workers are very helpful.

There is a sign at the entrance that says something like some of the countys best workers walk through these doors every daybased on some of the workers i seen, i wonder if they consider some of the ones I have dealt with their best if so, I dont want to know what their worst workers are like. I have had some that are good, theyre by the book they seem strict but theyre just doing their job making sure requirements are met and following up with requirements makes their job easier making them be cool with you, but others dont belong there, acting like theyre above you because they work for the county and you request assistance they act like theyre the ones giving you that aid, and they need to be trained on the computer and all be on the same page. Theyre always changing your info and blaming it on your previous worker for whatever mistakes there is, they all contradict each other.

Its always crowded. Usually has rude clients as well as some staff but I expect that when going to any county building. My last several visits, however, in the past year, have been fast (in and out within an hour) and I have had courteous and professional workers. ONE BIG PLUS IS IF YOU SIGN UP MAKE SURE TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT ON THEIR WEBSITE. I have been using their site for 2 years and is very quick to keep track of appts, notices about upcoming information about your case and the fastest and surest way to complete your monthly report (SAR 7, OR 7, ETC). WEBSITE IS YOUR FRIEND IT WILL SAVE YOU TIME, WORRIES, STRESS AJF VISITS TO THE COUNTY BLDG)

7 months pregnant lost my job and had no money or food so I applied. Got a worker I had problems with in the past ms.sagapolza or something and she has made my case delay saying I dont qualify for expedited services when I know i Do. Miserable woman wouldnt let me speak to her supervisor. Can it be legal for a worker youve had problems with in the past to not allow u to see their sup. & harass you

The place is much more organized, but with that comes the issue of it really making you jump through various hoops, a two hour wait should be standard, this place operates under a hatred for the poor, so you get what you paid for so to speak,
