I was under the impression that 24hr fitness was held to a certain standard and its employees were to reflect such standard. My visit at the Compton California facility brings up concern about club cleanliness and the lack of staff involvement in club happenings since its reopening. The bathroom/shower area at the Compton club is never clean with an abundance of mold, the pool usually has debris but today there was foamy suds on the surface of the water. I didnt want to stay in the water worried about what kind of nastiness had taken over the pool. The bathing suit spinner NEVER works. There were club members in the pool area with a portable radio playing Spanish music so loud that in order to speak to someone I had to practically yell. No staff came through to check the bathroom or pool area until I was leaving and the Spanish music was still going. Its like the staff dont care about nothing.In other clubs that Ive visited the staff was always present, the bathrooms are better attended to and most of the pools are fairly clean depending on the city. Compton however is by far the worst.Thanks for listening, I hope to soon see improvement at the Compton club.

Enjoying time in Compton I have fun exercise and swimming and hot tub so relaxing with knee replacement 3 8 21. Its blessed to walk well..

Just OK to work out and get out. The place is old and needs to be remodeled

Needs lots of cleaning. Rack outside sauna area is very duty. edges on room need detail cleaning. come on! is not a free gym. Attention Managers!

March 15 2021The staff are out their mind.They have all the equipment on the outside gym but closes at 7pm. The answer to solution is send everyone to inside gym which has barely any equipment. Knowing it’s 25% capacity at this current moment but they already pass limit within few minutes. it’s already too crowd for few equipment available. People just started walking out. I highly advise to find a other gym if this continues or the staff can put time back to normal. This is personal opinion which I personally get off work late in the evening. This only time that I can workout with my wife. Also they have maintained the outside gym cleans . Too many paper towels flying everywhere.

Place is fine, but the dumbbells lower than 30lbs are almost not existent. Like, are people walking off with them? I don’t understand why the gym doesn’t have more of them ~_~;

This was the most disgusting and dirty facility I have ever been too . Out of quite a few 24hr fitness centers this had to have been the worst. Mold in the showers and restrooms were filthy. Never gonna use this one again.

It was Great to be back at the Gym, I only went Swimming, however the Indoor equipment and spacing was Impressive. Happy to see so many people back to improve their Health... Keep up the Great Work 24 Hour Fitness Compton... Baby Baaby

This is a great workout program! The energy in the class is great, the trainers are great, and the community is great.

The gym is tiny, lack of heavy equipment, very dirty. Steam room smells of mold and the suana room gives of rotten wood.You can do well with Cardio but, when it comes to weight training. Kinda out of luck.

It’s alright. Employees are always friendly but they need to change those closing times or their name to something else other than “24 Hour”

Its clean machines work they have good service. The swimming pools opened in LA County this is the only one I could find within 15 miles of my house that was open they dont make excuses at this gym.

(Disclaimer my complaints are mostly on prices)The gym is nice haven’t tried the pool and staff so far great. What I can’t understand is why 24 doesn’t have better prices for families with kids who are able to workout. 12 and up??? Please get a income based program 24! That $49 multiplied by a family of 4 wow! Not enough bring a friend passes they should give at least one bring a friend pass per month (then my teens can come) Also the annual fee for families of 2 or more should be waived or reduced. And the kids club even gets pricey for families. This gym in my opinion is great for single people or couples thanks

The location is my local gym. I live a few minutes away so it made sense to sign up after having been at a Planet Fitness for so long.The gym is not as big as other locations, but it does have a good variety of weights and machines. It also has a swimming pool and a sauna.The gym is really let down by its staff. The gym is always a mess. The weights are always out of order and sometimes in an entirely different place in the gym. Sometimes theres no paper towels for the entire duration of my workout. The locker and restrooms arent ever properly clean.I keep going here because its so close, but Planet Fitness was much better in terms of cleanliness.

The pool area is not always clean, equipment not working, lift chair for the pool dont work. Equipment breakdown it may take at least six months to be fixed or repair. Management is not concern, gym has gone down

Absolutely love this gym. The classes are great even for non athletic people like me. The machines are cool. I love that cardio is upstairs away from the weight lifting equipment.

Disclaimer: This review is based on amenities. The team here is kind and really do not have much power on what corporate does.I am really annoyed, and decided to cancel my membership after a month only. Why? Simple. If you are a Verizon member, the service is horrible. You would think a Gym would have Wi Fi, they do not.So, I drove 20 mins. From work during my lunch time to not enjoy my workout.This is not acceptable. It is a Health and wellness center and must be treated as such.I was thinking of joining the personal trainer session here since I have seen great resultsFrom others. However, I am just not ok with an average atmosphere, and have just realized that it’s time to go back to Equinox. Even if I pay more. After all, It’s the experience.

The best 24 in the area, large lockers and they have a pool. The best part is Sharnee greeting you in the AM, I come to this gym every few months and she always brightens my day when I see her.BC

A year or so ago I signed up. When I signed I asked the representative if there was any other fees that I will have to pay. The representative said no as long as you keep your membership it will be just the one time sign up fee and the monthly fee each month. But come 07/08/2017 I find out that there is a annual fee for being a member. So I called to cancel my membership. The desk representative tells me I need to come in and talk to a manager. So I go in to this location and ask to speak with the manager. The male and female desk staff said ok give us a minute. The male staff member asked me what are you here for today? I tell him I need to close my membership. He tell me he can help me with that. So I aske the male staff member if he is a manager. He tells me NO Im not. But I can help you with that. So I said to the male staff member so I was lied to over the phone. Because I was told that only a manager can help me with cancelling my membership. The male staff member said I dont see how you was lied to, Im the assistant Desk Manager. Then gives me a recent and tells me that $8 and change will be refunded to your card. So the $35 plus the $40 they took out all they are giving me is $8 and change. 24 hour fitness are scam artists and their staff members need to learn how to do customer service.

Very carefully read your contract. They will charge you heavily if you dont read that fine print. And forget about trying to cancel your membership. Once youve signed you are stuck for those 12 months. Also the weights are horrendously organized. Even at 3am when its practically empty employees wont put the free weights back.

The gym is very standard. Staff is really nice.But can use a cleaning in the bathroom and outside of the gym.

Dont even bother coming after 5 youll make a 1 hour workout into 3. Mornings arent so heavy. Great equipment helpful staff

Its 2019 and you all dont have Wi-Fi Service (even McDonalds has Wi-Fi). The price of membership went up which I am fine with as long as I can see a few improvements within the club. Can we at least make the club more up to date by providing not only Wi-Fi but also soap and toilet paper on a regular.Staff and other patrons are extremely professional and friendly. Great location and gym cleanliness varies depending on time of day visiting.

The weights are never at the right spot, people never wipe down the bench, the machines are always broken, but they have the hottest chicks out of all the gyms in my area. so I give it 4 stars. :-o

Love this gym. If there is a down side for me, its the guys who come in the sauna with their music and speakers who blast their preferred music. I go in the sauna to relax and that is not relaxing!

It needs some work. Staff may greet you and often times there busy talking to each other. The weight room needs an upgrade.

Always dirty , staff is not helpful always talking to each other and very unprofessionall , they always have a very sad look on their face. Its just a dirty nightmare to be in, stay away from the pool area!!!

Weights all over the floor, never returned or picked up by the members and staff alike. Itll probably take you twice as long to finish your workout at this location than others since its always full of people. Only upside to this place is the pool, but it doesnt even look that clean honestly. Read that other people have had their cars broken into at this location (not surprisingly, considering its in Compton), so you dont want to bring or leave any valuables in your car at anytime of the day.Its somewhat close to me than other 24 fitness locations, however, I rather drive the few extra miles to a better, cleaner, safer location than this disorganized one. Ill never come back to this location again.

Gym ALWAYS dirty, trash on floor, pool often down for repairs. I spoke to manger Eddie regarding broken Lights in the weight room an sauna which pose safety concerns. I saw a cleaning guy pour chemicals into the jacuzzi WHILE a guest was in there an a man swimming laps in khakis an headphones...all big safety concerns. We pay monthly for a clean, updated, maintained gym, they need work!

Ive gone here for a year and a half and all I can say is the staff and the members were great. No disputes, made friends within the staff as well. Machines are in working conditions, atmosphere is great, wish they had a large selection of music besides hip hop and rap, if youre only going to check out females this is the place to be. 😂😂 Only thing that really bothered me was the weights and dumbbells all over the floor, members are too weak to rerack weights leaving it to the girls at the front desk. Ill miss this place though. Lots of great people and memories. Another problem is that sometimes theyll break into your car. So dont leave valuables.

Its one of the Largest 24 hours I been to, but it not very sanitary. The Ladies locker room was not clean. The machines were not clean and the pool water was not clear it looked foggy...

Been coming here for a while not the cleanest 24 the Lakewood one is so much better but the staff here is great and if you go at around 8am youll be able to use all the machines without having to wait on anyone

This by far is the worst gym Ive ever trained at. This was my second visit at this location and was worse than my first visit. Free weights were scattered all over the gym floor. People seem to lack gym etiquette by not re-racking the damn weights after using! And since most people at this location are too lazy to do to it, the blame should then be placed on the staff for allowing it and should make themselves useful and periodically walk around and place unused weights and dumbells back where they belong. There were no paper towels or disinfectant available to even wipe down that nasty ass equipment. I even witnessed people using their personal items to hold/reserve gym equipment and disappear for several minutes before they returned to continue working out. The gym was so overcrowded that my workout session was half assed so I didnt get a full pump. This location is a joke! Not sure if I would ever return to this facility unless I absolutely had no choice. Would I recommend this location to anyone looking for a great workout? HELL TO THE NAW!

Staff is ok nice, never to friendly just normal. What really annoys me are the people not putting back the equipment. Restrooms and locker room smell really bad. I have lifetime member ship, and they tried to charge me extra also. Nope...just paid it by mail. Dont deal with ignorant staff send you payment by mail.

They keep the group exercise room locked. I came to the gym specifically to use the spinning bike since Im training for an Ironman. They dont have a spinning bike outside for me to use like every other 24 hour gym. Spoke with staff and they would not accommodate me at all.As a paying member i feel this something minor they should be able to make happen.Showers hardly ever have soap.Clothes spinning machine does not work.Water fountain out of order.Swimming pool not properly maintained my eyes were burning even with googles.

Con: Members not putting back the equipment has become the default culture. Most members dont care to put things back where they belong. Especially during the night, its really annoying.Pro: 24hr Fitness in Compton has a variety of equipment, plenty of cardio machines. Great workout culture.

Good place to play basketball. Every night you can run 5 on 5 with cool people who can ball.

I don’t know if I just came at the right time, but I visited this location on a Tuesday afternoon and it was great! Locker rooms were clean compared to Santa Monica and Hollywood, weights were racked, staff was friendly and the basketball court was all mine.

This 24 is by far the most disorganized in LA. Every time I walk in, the weights are on the floor. Its like the weight racks are just there in case you want to hang your towel or sit on while you superset all the dumbbells. Im not sure if the staff even pick up the weights. Ive come in at 2am after everything has died down and all you see is piles of weights on the floor. Management needs to have staff members that will either re-rack the weights or have them remind the members to re-rack the weights after theyre done with them. I go here for the layout, its okay,but why are the squat and power rack so close together? Maybe its me but this 24 needs to get it together.

Bathrooms are nasty dirty and smelly. I wouldnt recommend anyone to visit here. I guess management aint what it use to be here. I cant say anything good about this gym. Wish they had a negative Star Id give them 4....lol

The manager Art has his own policy that I couldnt work out with my fiance which I have been doing for over a 2 years. Thats consider training then he retracted and said I can instruct her but cant touch or correct her form. Its a racial/prejudice thing because everyone in the gym world has a work out partner that corrects your techniques or spots you when your tired. But it was just me and another black couple that was singled out.

This place has alot of malfunctioning equipment, same machines never worked on. some dont incline or others dont decline. some have error codes, others are noisy as hell. but the bill is always on time and the membership is always growing. time to call corporate.

Bodybuilder, lifting 7+ years and go to the gym 5-6 days out of the week.I come here every time I visit home. Weights are NEVER racked. Dumbells are literally spread out throughout the floor. Plates are randomly on floors and left on machines.A cluster party in peak hours.I have nothing against people coming to the gym and improving themselves..but the majority of ppl here are amateurs who dont have basic gym etiquette. Things like time on machine, playing on phones while on a machine, full conversations in the way of equipment..it just gets aggrevating.This is the culture here. This is how it has always been so sadly its a norm now.There are no clips to put on barbells. And there isnt anything to wipe down machines with. You would think basic sanitation would come with a membership.Equipment is heavily outdated and some are just inoperable.Quite possibly the worst gym Ive been too and Ive been deployed 5 times where our gym is a tent with a fan. At least they rerack weights there sheesh.

The restrooms are always filthy. The paper towel dispensers throughout the gym are rarely ever refilled, along with the dose fecha y spray that the gym should provide. Whenever the automatic message urging staff to clean and refill all supplies is announced the staff rarely complies. There are used toilet seat covers constantly left on the toilet seats and the staff never seems to clean it. The floors are sometimes covered with feces and left unattended constantly. It’s just so disgusting.Its super unfair that all customers of this franchise (specifically the 24 hour Compton location) have to workout under these conditions.This location is not a motivational space at all!

At 30 yrs old, my first review ever, upset, I was looking into getting my daily run which takes about 15 min...They close at 2pm, I arrived at 1.25pm and I was denied entry...they gotta be kidding while other members were inside working out, ive been to other 24s and on holiday they close at 2pm not anything earlier....quite unhappy about this place, lets not hope it was a racial reasoning involved !

No internet and the shopping plaza is a data deadzone so it is impossible to stream music.

I liked it. Close and convenient, but apparently not safe. My car was broken into in the afternoon.

Its a love and hate relationship

I see the HOMELESS people are camping out in the stretching room. And I notice the homeless people are taking showers and using the restroom where I and many others PAY for a membership to workout in. Not a good look At the 24 hour COMPTON facility.. I have nothing against the HOMELESS, but this is not what I signed up for. Fix it! And fix the busted machines and clean up often. It is becoming extremely unsanitary in this facility....

Staff is OK when I come late nights there is a guy on the floor always putting away weights now..Some of the treadmills need to be fixed and some are loud as heck! The new gym floor has been redone...now all they need is a 24hr kitchen to serve healthy protein shakes and snacks...😏

This location is not clean. Toilets are filthy, Steam room had paper towel on the floor, empty water bottle in the corner where someone was sitting, and there was a guy that poured water on the wall from his personal water bottle. I dont think Ill be returning.

Take to long to fix broken equipment, elliptical machines to close one of the other one

Id rather spend my time in the Real world like kayaking the back Bay Golfing etc., than watching someone elses Sweaty Rear in my face on the bike ahead of me in what appears to be some sort of silent gym clothes competition to see who can spend the most money, but to each his own just not my cup of tea

Weights are everywhere and some are even missing! Theres only two squat racks... And like three bench presses for the hundreds of people that go there every day.

I love this place.

Real loud music and weights are all over the floor.

The swimming pool has green slime around the edges. The jacuzzi has too much dirty bubbles. The sauna and a steam room are always dirty people keep going in with shoes in the floor always looks dirty thinking of canceling my membership they charge too much money for a durty gym. Workers there are always talking instead of cleaning and looking around to see if people putting equipment back and getting people with shoes out of the sauna and steam room.
