I rarely write and review especially one that is a week after the incident has happened but I feel my review Is based on my experience. The doctor or surgeon Im referring to is Kerri Ann Mitchell. I can into contact with her after I had a worker compensation injury that has messed up my face. So I saw her in February and we talked about my outcome and she was certain she could fix my nose. Even though after she expressed her concern she was more focused on the nose and not the raccoon eyes I got from the injury. So u went to a top surgeon in Ohio who fixed my eyes and I know when she fixes my nose whatever he did wont affect her work. So a week ago I saw her and I was still a little swollen and a little bruised and she came into the room with negative energy and started that my nose was already complex and she didnt know if she could fix it before but now she doesnt know. So in my mind, Im thinking” if I knew you couldnt fix it in the first place I would have wasted three months on you”. After she expresses her concern I told her ill find someone else, even though she wanted me to come back in 2 weeks to see if she may fix my nose. But at that point, I already decided on finding a skilled surgeon. So I called my worker comp agent and told her Im going to a new surgeon and that I feel it best. Well because I pulled out of surgery from her and contacted a skilled surgeon and that was it. Well she then decided to use my mental disorder bipolar and she decided to say I have dysmorphia. Now I was shock due to her, not a family medical or psych doctor to give that diagnosis, especially from two 15 minutes visits. I feel her action are rushed and rude and it isnt to demean her character but Im stating my experience is all.

My primary optometrist said that I needed to see a specialist for some eye swelling that has been slow to clear up. She set up the appointment. I Saw Dr. Mendoza at Havener who performed another eye exam and then cave me a copy of a printout of over the counter eye moisturizers that I could try. She then scheduled a return visit. A week passes and I got the bill. I fell out of my chair when I saw that it was $516. This was a quick exam with nothing prescribed. It provided no added value or assurances over what my primary provider was able to do. Please be sure to call in first and ask how much your visit will cost so that you do not get a Merry Christmas surprise like I did. BTW, I cancelled my follow up visit.Earlier this year I got a bill for $4,000 for 4 stitches on my little finger at a FL center while on vacation. It cost more than the entire vacation for my family. Medical costs are out of control.I did get a follow up email from Havener asking for me to call to discuss my post. I called. I was told the person that I needed to speak to was out. I was asked about the post. I explained the high bill did not jive with the services rendered and that I would like a reduction in charges. The rep said she would pass it along. Several weeks have passed. No contact. Only bills looking for full charges. O-H, oh no!?

Building: 915 Olentangy River RdStaff at the building entrance did not allow me to escort my older mother to the doctor’s office today with the excuse of Covid-19 protocol. Here is what I have observed while waiting in the building lobby: 1. Three elevators full of people - no one is overseeing any limit to ensure people have safety to be with 6 feet apart; 2. They did not stop a man from escorting his older relative. A man who blocked me stayed behind the glass and continued to look down while the bigger man continued on; 3. In the last hour, no employee has disinfected high touch surfaces.Shall I take names of such good employees ?

The medical doctors and staff have been responsive and very attentive. Making an appointment for surgery, exams, and urgent care was easy. Wait times before my appointments have been short. They have been professional and helpful throughout my medical needs and I would recommend Havener for eye care.

When I made the appt. was not informed they dont deal in frames and lenses, that Id have to take my prescription elsewhere for that. The lobby is like an inner-city Greyhound station, loud and noisy. etc. My exam lasted just 20 minutes, during which time the doctor went up to the reception desk to double check whether I really had insurance. I wasnt asked any questions about my eyes. I dont feel confident that I had an accurate eye exam, and cannot recommend them for that.

Good treatment, but be aware of long wait. They overbooked way too many patients. We were told the procedure plus the preparation and recovery time is about an hour and half. We arrived on time, and wait in the waiting room more than an hour before we got call in. After got in and finished the preparation, either wait on the doctor to finished her previous surgery or wait for the surgery room to be ready. We ended up spend almost 4 hours there. I have to canceled an appointment due to their delay and no one said sorry about the inconvenience. Bad experience ☹️1/24/2020. Still like the doctors here. But the wait.... horrible horrible horrible. Has been here for more than an hour, still haven’t see the doctor yet. 😡

I went here for a simple allergy test where they did a scratch test for 63 allergens. They charged over $1200 for a basic scratch test, and over $300 for an office visit fee. When I looked around I found that other places charge between $200 and $300 for a scratch test with $300 being on the high end. I brought this to their attention and they responded and told me that yes OSUMC IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER PLACES. There was nothing in my experience that justified such a huge price difference. I would advise to take an hour and shop around and find a cheaper option. It might save you hundreds of dollars. The follow up from the billing department regarding my concern in such a huge price difference was inadequate.

Buyer beware!!Although I received good medical treatment, beware of the billing department. I was told my insurance was not accepted and I was responsible for paying the bill in full, which I did on the day of service. Then they went ahead and charged my insurance and billed me for what my insurance did not cover!! When I called I was unable to get the person to listen and she refused to give me to someone else or have the account reviewed. She aid they would send me an itemized bill by e-mail, but the opening the attachment sent me to some obscure website that had nothing to do with my bill. I then requested that it be mailed to my home address, but still have not received it nor the outcome of my review nearly a month later. I consider this to go beyond being a simple mistake and suspect fraudulent practices. I would avoid this establishment and plan to go elsewhere in the future. Its a shame because I felt I received good care.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.. I went there for preventative eye check up and shockingly got a bill of $300. When I spoke to the insurance, they said your eye check up is 100% free but the doctors clinic put it as an office visit. They claimed around $700 from my insurance as well. I had no information about this and when I called them to ask, they said you are a new customer, so we charge for first time consultancy and then an eye scan and what not. All this when the doctor was in-network of the insurance, Dr. John Melnyk. He said he suspects a serious disease but is not sure yet and officially declared it is not diagnosed yet, He wanted me to come back for another set of tests in 4 months time, which are supposed to be extremely expensive (he never told me that though - I did my own research later). All this when I had initially called Havener Eye Institute to book an appointment with an Ophthalmologist (a more senior doctor), but I got examined by an Optometrist (who isnt an expert in the field of the disease he suspected me to be suffering from).

I love this place.Everyone here is professional and great at what they do.I kept telling other doctors my symptoms were coming from my ears and they denied it and said it wasnt and passed me onto the next, and Ive been having these vestibular problems for 6 months now, but when I came here Dr. Essig took my concerns serious and ordered more tests and I think were finally getting somewhere.Ive never had a doctor call me personally like Dr. Essig did, so I think very highly of him for that.Thank you for listening to my questions and concerns.Definitely recommend the Eye and Ear Institute.

My encounter with the opthamologist doc at OSU ER was inexcusable. She was very apologetic for my six hour wait time, however when it was my turn to be seen she kept leaving the room for one reason or another (running someone else’s labs, getting cough drops, letting me take my medicine for 20 MINUTES). When she was in the room, she was coughing while not wearing a mask AFTER she read my chart that I am on immunosuppressants, whilst telling me about the patient who got her sick. I got sick after that visit.Next, my referral to Havener seemed to be going well, until I was left in the room for 45+ minutes because no one told the doctor they were done with me and she could see me. They also failed to place the drops in my eye while I was waiting, resulting in more wait time and more childcare incurred. This appointment took nearly 2.5 hours after I arrived early. Finally, she told me surgery would be calling to schedule. Two weeks later, I have not yet heard from them. I’ll be happy to tell them I’ve hired someone else... if they ever do call.

I would caution anyone thinking about picking up the phone and making an appt at OSUWMC Eye & Ear Institute as I did recently. One of their admin (I believe her name was Linda) was kind enough and had the forethought to call me the Friday before my appt (which, of note, was too late to cancel without a late cancel fee, but regardless) to advise me the doctor may want to do a scope of my nose which may cost $250. I appreciated the courtesy call, since in my experience doctors offices RARELY do this and instead would slap you with an anonymous $250 bill 3 weeks later. I told her kindly I would like to forego the scope at this time due to cost, which she said was fine.I went to the appt, and after being there for about an hour total (with about 15 of those minutes being with the actual doctor) was told to use Flonase 2 times/day for my sinuses. Fine. Nothing I hadnt heard or been told before, but fine.Imagine my outrage when 3 weeks later, I open my mail to a bill for $196.87!!! NOT for the scope, for the OFFICE VISIT. The E&E Institute had the foresight and courtesy to call and warn me about a possible $250 charge for the scope, yet OSUWMC patient billing acted completely nonplussed and unphased when I called completely flabbergasted at the cost of this 15-minute office visit??? I was simply told, This is the cost of seeing an OSU doctor. The solution then? DO NOT SEE OSU DOCTORS. This is outrageous and frankly criminal to charge patients this fee for 15 minutes of a doctors time and the most generic advice I could have Googled. Shame on them. Will not be returning and will be spreading the word to my friends, family and colleagues to avoid OSUWMC.UPDATE 4/8/2019: As you can see, someone replied to my review asking me to call to discuss my concerns. I did call and left a VM identifying who I was and why I was calling, with call back information. No one ever called me back. That was at least 2 weeks ago if not longer.

We and a lot of other patients waited over 3 hours for less than a 5 minute face-to-face interaction with the neuro ophthalmologist. There were no apologies, the staff and the Dr. were very rude. I get they were having a bad day, but that is never the patient or familys problem. There were no updates as to why they were running so far behind and no apologizes for the extensive amount of wait time. When we asked a tech to check for us my daughter and I were just told well the paperwork says you can be here from 2 to 4 hours. She never did check for us. My daughter did not receive the time she should have with the Dr. Unfortunately this specialty has no regard for anyones time. A simple phone call letting us know to come in later would have been appreciated. This has not been the only issue with this office. They dont send updates to your PCP as requested, they dont do prior auths in a timely manner, the Dr. doesnt lock the charts in a timely manner for billing or for alerts to go out to other individuals for things that need done. We will not be returning. I would definitely recommend seeking out a different eye specialist.
