Dr. Goyal did a fantastic job with my procedure. He was very professional and thorough in his explanation as to what my symptoms were related to before, during and after my procedure. It has been only 2 days since my surgery and I already can see that my symptoms have improved drastically. Dr. Goyal’s office and clinical staff were very friendly and welcoming as well. I recommend anyone who needs a hand surgeon to definitely go see Dr. Goyal and his team.

Dr. Goyal is an extremely kind and proficient hand surgeon. Another surgeon that I knew recommended Dr Goyal to me and said that if he had to have surgery on his hands, it would be Dr. Goyal. He tells you what your options are and exactly what the results will be. Very honest and upfront.

My experience at the OSU Hand Center was very positive. Each of the providers were helpful and professional, from the front desk and check in to the PA and doctors. As a single older woman I appreciated the care and professionalism, and was at ease in the office. My goal for this first visit was to find out what was going on with my thumbs - I suspected osteoarthritis and it was confirmed. Surprisingly, I learned the arthritis is actually worse in my left thumb than my right, where I have been experiencing the most pain, likely because I am right handed. I also wanted to learn my treatment options. Both the resident doctor and Dr. Goyal were patient and answered all of my questions, taking time to explain their answers. In the end, we opted to start with the most conservative treatment for now (OTC pain relievers, thumb brace for right thumb), and over time will evaluate if I will progress to injections and/or surgery. I have a lot of anxiety over injections, and appreciated Dr. Goyals calm demeanor and willingness to listen (as well as the resident doctor). If I choose surgery in the future, I will be confident continuing my care with Dr. Goyal. He used a baseball analogy to illustrate the possible outcomes of surgery, which I found helpful and understandable. I now know what I am up against and have options to consider for the future.

Dr. Goyal is an excellent surgeon specializing in the arm and hand. Dr. Goyal absolutely made the correct assessment in determining what type of surgery was necessary to save the functioning of my left hand. Without his professional skills and sound judgement, I would not have recovered the functioning in my left hand.

Dr. Goyal forgot to compete a step in my husbands carpal tunnel/tendon transplant surgery, which resulted in a second surgery being necessary two days after the initial surgery. My husband was promised by Dr. Goyal that there would be no charges for the second surgery, as this second surgery was completely due to Dr. Goyals negligence. Fast forward a month, my husband has now been billed for the anesthesia for the second surgery, in addition, our insurance company has been also charged and the insurance company has made payment to this anesthesiologist. Fast forward 4 business days from receiving this bill from OSU/Dr. Goyal and contacting Dr. Goyal regarding yet another error to be corrected, and there has been no additional follow up from Dr. Goyal, OSU billing, or his office. From the beginning, Dr. Goyal proved to be hurried, full of himself, and unprofessional. After the first surgery, Dr. Goyal did not call the waiting family member, as was promised by his nurse and is normal protocol in ANY surgery. When the family member questioned Dr. Goyals nurse at the time of departing the surgery center why they did not hear from Dr. Goyal, the nurse replied, Oh, he didnt call you? Huh....Dr. Goyal left the building a long time ago. When this was addressed with Dr. Goyal at a later date, he claimed that he had not left the facility and was actually still there. If this is true, why wouldnt Dr. Goyals nurse have communicated to him that his patients family member was still there and waiting/wanting to speak with him? We are still waiting for any follow up to correct the billing error from Dr. Goyal, his office, or OSU billing. We have called Dr. Goyals office repeatedly daily because we have been given other OSU billing phone numbers that do not reach a live person. Dr. Goyal is certainly more concerned with something other than his patients well being, and correcting his mistakes completely and timely. We are now battling to have the charges removed from our insurance charges, and the money that the insurance paid to Goyal be refunded back to the insurance company. Very unethical physician. Do not seek out services from Dr. Goyal.

Dr. Goyal did two surgery procedures on my right hand (I am right handed). He explained the procedure very well and was professional and pleasant. The surgery team was also professional and made me feel at ease. Post surgery I followed instructions and was amazed there was no pain. My 6-weeks recovery was exactly as explained. I recommend Dr. Goyal without hesitation.

Dr Goyal is amazing. He operated on both of my hands and my hands are my life. I saw 3 other surgeons for second opinions before going back to Dr Goyal for the surgery. He is/was well known by the other surgeons I saw, as a highly respected authority in the area of hand surgery. I am a bit taken aback by the negative reviews on his bedside manner. He is clearly a very busy man but he was always, ALWAYS so kind, compassionate and willing to explain things in great detail when I had questions. I found him to be exactly the kind of doctor youd want to perform a surgery you were worried about. I imagine hes a wonderful instructor as well. This is part of what I love about the other OSU doctors/surgeons Ive seen as well.

Im a local physician and when my elderly father (a retired physician) hurt his hand, I asked around to see who I should send him to. The overwhelming answer was Dr.Goyal at OSU. He was able to see my father quickly and diagnosed his injury and treated him conservatively. My fathers injury healed well and he was very happy with his care.

The appointment was brief. Id obviously already seen my primary care doctor after a brief hospital stay. Unfortunately, the placement of my IV had caused severe pain in my lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve. The pain makes regular use of my arm and hand difficult if not impossible. Hoped to find out if I had some internal swelling of some form, or other issue that could be addressed. Dr. Goyal told me that there wasnt a nerve where I had my IV placed...but the placement is in the precise location of nerve according to the hospital and my GP. Dr. Goyal also claimed that this sort of injury is too rare, but all other doctors and nurses immediately told me thats what was causing the burning pain, and it does happen. Either Dr. Goyal makes it a practice to lie to his patients, or he is outrageously uninformed about basic arm anatomy. Either way an appointment with him isnt worth the time, and oughtnt warrant a co-pay or payment for services by insurance.
