I love Eye Concepts! Dr. Ondersma is very personable and explained all aspects of my exam clearly. The desk staff is always friendly, and the young lady who fitted me for my new glasses knows her stuff! I’ve been a patient since moving here 4 years ago and now my newly relocated parents are too!

Dr. O is awesome. He’s very knowledgeable and friendly, and makes you feel very comfortable. He explains the tests very well, and helps you understand all of your options (different types of contacts, glasses, prescription types, etc.). I also have Type 2 diabetes, which just came out of remission, and he explained the different issues and possible complications that can arise from that. He was also very thorough in his examination. The staff is very warm, friendly and knowledgeable. They present the different options you have with eyeglass lenses, costs, insurance coverage, etc. I am so glad this office opened in Northeast Columbia because I used to drive all the way to Lexington for a good doctor. Dr. O and his staff are even better. Don’t go anywhere else! Eye Concepts is the best!!!

I took my son there for an eye exam and was extremely happy with the service we got. Everyone that works there are very personable and answered any question i had. The optometrist was very thorough and didnt rush through the exam. Myself and my son were very pleased and will definitely be back.

Staff if friendly, eye doctor is thorough. It defeats the purpose of coming in, getting a new prescription, and having to wait 3 to 6 weeks, when other companies do it in house within 30 minutes. I wont be back. Ill take my business elsewhere next year. Thanks for at least being very friendly, and thorough!

I have been here for the last two years now and have always received professional service. Dr O is very thorough with his exams and answers any questions I have. He advised me of some potential eye problems I may experience with another outside treatment I am currently receiving and told me the best route for relief if those problems arise. I have been very satisfied with the service I have received from Dr O and his staff.

As a loyal patient of 10 years at this location I am very dissatisfied. In the last 2-3 years which would be my last 2 visits; I have had problems with my prescription. I skipped 2019 bc I was upset from 2018 and had not found another provider in proximity. I rarely miss vision visits. I love my eyes too much but Those problems cost me more out of pocket cost. Of course no apology or explanation given. The last eye visit was August 2020. I had decided to return bc I understand things happen and I am a loyal patient. Even then was I disappointed. I ended up asking for my old prescription. The initial owners/staff were the best. Never had a problem! Dnt get me wrong, this provider is nice, personable, and professional however, wasnt too concerned about my prescription. He never once ask me of my concerns. I had to deal with staff. This year my only reason for a visit was to get my DMV renewal receipt. Which was furnished quickly. Sad I am forced to find another optometrist. Ugh

I had a 230 appointment and exactly 230 the process began. Very professional and friendly staff. Dr. O is the epitome of a vision professional. He takes time to speak with you and handle you with real concern.

(PLEASE SEE UPDATE 9/8/2020, located at the end of my initial response.I am responding back because the feedback response was mostly fabricated, I hope no one ever has to deal with this type of treatment)This facility gets ZERO stars but in order for me post I had to select a rating.I scheduled an appointment for my daughter one month in advance. I received a voicemail from this facility on a Friday while I was at work, informing me that my current insurance plan did not cover vision. My daughter’s appointment was scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday. I was unable to contact anyone Monday before the appointment because the office was closed due to a holiday. I called Tuesday and spoke with Alyssa regarding the issue. Alyssa was rude and demeaning. I even gave her a number to call to confirm I had insurance, she never even attempted to call to seek validation.I spoke with another employee at the facility named Makayla and had a conference call between her and my insurance provider to confirm my coverage. Makayla then proceeds to tell me that they are not in network with my insurance which is false proven by my insurance’s list of providers. Poor service and rude personnel. Complete waste of time.. (Update) I’m responding back because I think it is important for the general public to be made aware , this office is in network with my insurance . The manager did not want to take the extra steps necessary to process my claim. My insurance provider was a witness to her refusal. I wish I was able to speak to the doctor to inform him of the behavior of his staff, I received one voicemail and that was the Friday before the scheduled visit. It seems as though he hired professional liars, but one thing is for certain it’s all on tape.Also, they intentionally ignored calls, my husband went to our neighbor’s s house to see if they would pick up and they certainly did. Their excuse when asked if they where avoiding us was “we have two telephone lines” which was obviously deceitful and untrue. For those who would like to see the validity of my claim look up Cigna (Open Access Plan) type in the doctor’s name and it will confirm that he is in network.

Its been few years since I had an eye exam and Eye Concepts we highly recommended. Now I see why. The staff was amazing. Even with insurance issues they took time to make sure it was cleared. Explained new options and was able to take me as a walk in. There were no attitudes as if I interrupted their work day. My eye exam was easy. My glasses came back quickly. Seriously if you are looking for an optometrist please really check out Dr. O and staff... they will make sure your vision for 2020 is definitely 2020!!!

Nice and friendly, yet perfessional staff. Dr who I saw was top notch. He and I had a pleasent talk about his dregree he obtained from Ferris State University in Michigan. It is a very difficult school that only the brightest can attend . I highly recomment this place to all that want skill and quality at the eye doctors.

Dr. Ondersma is the best optometrist I have ever had. He’s friendly and makes you feel comfortable. I never have to wait longer than 5 minutes before being seen for an appointment and his staff are also friendly and helpful. You can expect this same level of service and care each and every time you visit Eye Concepts. Dr. Ondersma makes an effort to really get to know his patients. I hope I never have to go anywhere else!

I had my eye exam today and ordered new glasses. Dr. O was great! I typically dread doctor visits of any kind. They herd patients through with poor bedside manner...if any at all. Dr. O took his time with me. He explained things in detail, answered all my questions, and treated me like a friend. The lady (please forgive me...I forgot her name) helping me select my frames and lenses was very knowledgeable and personable. I cannot exclude the receptionist (forgot her name also....sorry). She greeted my wife and I warmly and explained our insurance pricing in simple fashion. I have no worries about my ordered glasses. I know that Dr. O and his staff will take great care of me. If there are any guys like me reading this and putting off an eye exam / new glasses....do not hesitate....Call Dr. O !!!!!!!

The glasses gave headaches and am still waiting for replacement and left message with no reply yet. Hope to get resolution.

My experience with Dr. O was GREAT! He takes his time and is very descriptive. The staff is AMAZING. They are very nice, and welcoming. They made the process of me choosing frames, so much fun and simple and I am very indecisive. They have a awesome array of name brand frames for reasonable prices.

Dr. O and his staff are the absolute best! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Dr. O makes sure to take all the time each patient needs, and he is a really caring doctor. The new staff was patient and understanding when my insurance eligibility took longer than expected to verify. His new practice is a lot further from my side of town, but Dr. O and his staff are worth the drive.

Dr. O and his staff are excellent. They are always very accommodating and friendly and will do whatever it takes to make you see clearly. I have a pretty tricky prescription for my eyes which makes wearing contacts a bit challenging. Dr. O has worked with me for years to make the necessary tweaks in my prescription and brand to keep my eyes comfortable...and he has never charged me extra for it. His office is wonderful, and I wouldnt trust my eyes with anyone else!

I called to make an appointment because I have an infection from my contact in my left eye, asked could I come in today because my eye really hurt. The receptionist told me that they couldnt take me today. Dr. O was my primary doctor but will be changing him. Its not like I was a new patient. When it comes to an emergency with your eyes that needs medical attention they should be able to accommodate.

Went there last year to get contacts and glasses. I paid over $600 for glasses and contacts. I was told to take home and try them out. I had to return them because the prescription wasnt correct. I couldnt see out of them clearly. I had another eye exam done and the prescription changed. I still cant use these glasses, this time when I went back I was told I have to pay for a new eye exam. The glasses had a year warranty my time isnt up and they havent fixed the problem without wanting more money. Screwed me over big time. Not sure why I didnt go to Americas Best where you get two pair and pay no where near the cost I paid for them at Eye Concepts.

I cant say enough good things about this place. The office was very nice and the ambiance was welcoming. The staff was accommodating and personable. Dr. Ondersma was knowledgeable and very helpful in helping me find just the right pair of contacts and glasses. He went over and beyond to make sure that my needs were met. The staff was friendly and the Dr was great. I havent had any issues with this place. Make sure you get glasses with both glare, they are great! I will be coming here again for all my eye needs.

I am very disappointed with this business. It was recently sold to the new doctor and the service shows. I had my eye examine and that went well. I think Dr. Ondersma is very nice and personable. The staff leave something to be desired especially the heavy set lady at the counter. Too chatty and shared too much personal information about herself that I really did not care to hear. Now the doctor proceeds to tell me that my regular contact lenses are being discountinued and I should try these air optix brand. He had samples readily available. I wore them a few days and do not like them. so I check online and inquired a few places about my old lenses and no other place seems to have heard about them being discountinued. HMMM are you In bed with this other brands vendor and pushing their product off on your patients???? I dont know that for sure but when I questioned the other black lady about this she seemed to be confused and stuttered her answer when she had to come off script about Air optix verses my old brand. I requested that they send me another prescription with my old brand on it and she tried to tell me I needed to come in for some reason I dont even want to repeat. The script comes out of a computer attached to email which I am sure they have access to. She ended up faxing me my new script. And lastly they charge you for the Dist PD and the Near PD if you dont buy their glasses. Which they dont have much to choose from. With all that being said I will be finding another optometrist next year. Very disappointed!!
