Southeastern Institute/College is the best thing that happened to me. The class that I’m taking is Medical Assistant with the best teacher Ms. Campbell hands down. She’s an absolutely beautiful person inside and out and if they had an RN program and she was the teacher I’ll definitely be enrolling back at Southeastern, moreover the staff is awesome and I just love Cora and my advisor Ms. Sherry and I can’t name them all but I love my school family and sometimes people just don’t put enough effort into school but it’s a five for me because I love it.!!!

The Clinical Massage Therapy program at Southeastern College in Columbia is great! Knowledgeable instructors and friendly administrations staff that are willing to go the extra mile for their students! I feel like they have set me up for success with their depth of knowledge and well-rounded curriculum that covered more than just the spa setting. I know that if I have any questions or issues in the future, they are willing to extend their expertise beyond the campus setting.

From the beginning of my journey to obtain my certificate in the Medical Billing and Coding program at Southeastern, EVERY single person I met was so friendly and helpful. I was nervous because this was a totally different field than what I was used to. I admit it was tough going to school and working in a managerial role with my job. But I wanted a career, so I took the leap of faith. From the president Mrs. Clark ALL the way to my instructor Ms. Oxendine, made my journey so much easier with their support. Everyone was always available and I had the chance to make some great friends. The confidence everyone had in me made me want to excel and Ill take that with me everywhere I go. If I had to do it over again, I would choose Southeastern AGAIN. I would recommend MY school to anyone.

My name is Andina Lee and I am a former student of Southeastern Institute. I wanted to give my honest opinion about the program and my experience working as a therapist after my program ended. From the beginning I was taught a very extensive and in-depth curriculum that will prepare a person getting out of school with the knowledge and responsibilities it takes to be a success clinical massage therapist. Compared to other schools in the area, in my opinion, Southeastern students have a more advanced understanding of anatomy and physiology and multiple modalities which adds more value to the field of massage therapy and more demand for our students.I have never had an issue finding a job when I went out to search for one and the 900 hour curriculum is a good stepping stone for any therapist that wants to take a continuing Ed class for more advanced modalities or bodywork techniques. All and I all I am happy with the experience and would recommend this school to anyone wanting to get into the field. Thanks Ms. Michelin and Ms. Jones and all the staff at Southeastern for helping me get closer to my dreams.

Y’all just be mindful on where you decide to get you degree at because they will act like they’re all for you until you’re in the school. I will be transferring from this school. From the moment I walked in you could feel the sense of belonging. I was suppose to there. I started out rough (self) but my first instructor let me tell you. No Games. In a great way. She saw something that some of us didnt even know we had It. I needed her. Fast forward to next instructor. Sweet as pie but that Look meant business. Patient and a straight shooter. No matter what you thought you had Support. Had a personal issue happen right in middle of externship. I wanted to quit but this Family wouldnt allow me. Happy to say 30 days after I finished extern I received a job offer in my field and Nov 2021 makes 2 years. You want more than a school. Come here and have the Best experience EVER. I really enjoyed the staff and the faculty at the campus. The night classes came in handy if you work full time during the day or if you have small kids to take care of. Also, with so many online classes it is much easier to handle the work/life balance and responsibilities. I like how clear everything is to understand, how the faculty are subject matter experts and work with people who need extra attention and extra patience as life can be challenging when juggling so much. The people in financial aid and the Dean are really good about answering questions and providing guidance and support. The class structures being one at a time in the semester and the small amount of people in the class help make it easier to have a relationship with the faculty. Don’t get me wrong, if you don’t study and you don’t focus, you will not succeed. But if what you want to do is get right to the point, work hard and get a job, this is the place to go. I know other people who have studied in different places and I honestly feel like when we talk about what classes I had to take and what material I had to study, I really feel like I got a lot more out of the experience than they did with theirs. No regrets.

My instructors were Tiffany Wilson and Stacey Campbell. They were ,and are, a dynamic duo who assured you succeeded and were fully prepared for your new career. Ms. Skye Kinder , a former member of the guidance/job counsel department, went out of her way and revamped my resume for me. She did an awesome job! I used her version of my resume and impressed and attained jobs within my field! During my externship I fully recieved high quality experience, and attained all my certifications in my field (CPT, CMAA, CCMA, CPR, RMA/AMT). After completing my program, I became a Medical Office Technician at Lexington Medical Center. After leaving Columbia with my credentials, I attained my current dream job as a Phlebotomist at CSL Plasma of Charleston, SC. The Associates program at SEI was and is the first college degree I have ever completely saw through. Of course, this wont be my last degree, but SEI Columbia assured that until I get back in school Im well off to a great start. Glad to be a member an alumni of the SEI Family! I am a recent graduate of Southeastern Institute, Columbia , S.C. This school needs to be shut down. The dean of this school, Mr. Kesler is unprofessional and spiteful. All of the faculty there condone bullying and harassment aimed towards the students from the other students as well as their own instructors. It is just a matter of time before this school sees a tragedy like the Columbine incident due to all of the threats and bullying that goes on. The students are subjected to less than fair learning conditions such as the lack of desks in one classroom where those students are required to use the massage tables to do their work on. They dont even have a proper classroom anymore. They literally take anyone that walks into the door regardless of their ability to obtain employment after they graduate. Some of these students cant even read, yet they manage to graduate. The staff all complain constantly about how much they hate working there, but they dont do anything to change that. I seriously hope this school gets shut down, It is a matter of time before someone gets fatally hurt. I have recorded the responses to the threat of bullying from the dean, the instructor in charge of coordinating the curriculum, and one of the instructors from one of the classrooms. It is clear that they do not care about the safety of their students or staff. Over 16,000 dollars to attend here, That is deplorable.

In May 2015, I went to Columbia to see what I needed to do to start college. My friend Nicole Gill was already a student at Southeastern Institute located at the old building off of colonial Life blvd and she was getting ready to get pinned for medical assistant. She told me how awesome it was and exciting adventure it would be. So I was like Im ready for a change! I have two beautiful daughters I need to take care of and support myself financially. With the support of my parents, my daughters and my partner, I started the medical assistant program at night. I lived in Sumter and traveled back and forth three nights a week!! I had the best instructor Ms. Patel! She made sure I would be a great CMA. It was going well until two weeks in November I got sick and was out for two weeks. Well there was a limit of the days you are allowed to miss a semester. I didnt let that stop me. I kept going and eventually I had to retake to classes because of unfortunate events. So in January I switched to day class and at the time Southeastern Institute was moving to the new location! Here I was used to the small close school and now its huge and alot more space. Every department had room for everything even a huge place to eat!! I got pinned and took the RMA exam in February 2017. Greatest achievement I ever did!! This was what I was looking for and graduated July 2017!!!! Now Im a Registered Medical Assistant working at Palmetto Health Baptist!! This program and staff would go above and beyond to help you achieve your dream, just like they did with me!

I am a current student at Southeastern institute in the medical assisting program. My teacher is fantastic and takes the time to explain things to prepare us to be medical assistants. However, I am very disappointed in the financial aid staff and the person who was my mentor for the program Kim. When I started I was told I would go in extern after school but was never told it had to be during the day. I am a night student because I work full time during the day so thats a huge disadvantage for night students who might have to quit there day job or not be able to do an externship. Secondly with financial aid, I have been enrolled six months and have had three financial aid administrators who all save different things about my tuition. I applied for scholarships, fasfa and still being told I will have to pay 18,000 as a single mom, one income, and working full time not mentioning that I do not qualify for government assistance. I was told when I first started I wouldnt have to make payments until six months after I graduated with the first administrator Sarah then I deal with a lady who says she cant find my file then another lady states I need to start making payments asap. These people in financial aid have no idea whats going on and before you enroll get everything in writing when it comes to what your total debt is and what you will be paying and when! At this point I would not recommend this school.

No particle training or any real experience in pharmacy. Just worksheets, PowerPoint slides and more worksheets. Previous students have had issues getting an internship and didnt feel prepared to take the state certification exam. I dont feel prepared or feel that this school will be able to prepare anyone for it. Unaccredited. You will not be able to take anything from this school to another institution of higher learning. I tried. Many promises have been made about changing the curriculum and even the staff and yet nothing has changed. School basically here for money purposes. Youd be better off starting in retail pharmacy and work your way up. Many pharmacys like CVS and Walgreens have their own training they offer. Id advise anyone and everyone to look into other options before committing to South Eastern Insitute, if pharmacy is the career field youre looking into. Cant speak on massage therapy, medical billing and coding or medical assistance. However If you are wanting to pursue a career as a pharmacy tech. This is not the place for that.
