Follow up to my review from yesterday regarding stolen shoes from the locker room. Apparently someone moved my shoes to the front desk from the locker room for some reason. I was trying to report the stolen shoes the next evening I went back to the gym. The front desk said someone put the shoes at the front desk. The cleaning staff knew exactly who owns the shoes. So she kept them for me. Thanks to the nice staff who kept the shoes for me. She told me to lock them up next time because someone might steal brand new shoes. I’m lucky this time!

Its a nice gym, and I have a free membership to it, but for the price it is not worth it. I am a swimming enthusiast and their pool is not kept well. There is always a potent smell from the acidity being off. Its not as bad as some places I have been, but it could be much better

Came with a friend and used a guest pass. I thought this place is nice, let me ask about getting a gym membership. I was not 100% sure so I thought maybe a trial would be good to see if I should sign up. I asked the associate at the front desk and they told me they would grab someone for me to talk to. They brought out Spencer to speak with me. He straight away told me that they do not do any day trials and my option was the 7 day money back gaurantee. This was odd since I was told maybe I could get a day trial. Anyways that was not a big deal to me. The way Spencer spoke to me was extremely disappointing. He spoke in a firm condescending tone. No politeness at all. After that I decided I am not gonna sign up here. I literally just asked about a trial and he spoke in a firm condescending tone. I felt I was being talked down too. Safe to say I won’t be signing up for a membership. This is not how you speak to people.

Its just unbelievable how this establishment is built on health consciously awareness etc and yet they will not enforce their members to wipe of the equipment when they are finished. Its absolutely unhygienic and annoying to have people and employees witness it and keep silent on the matter. Covid has not disappeared and they damn sure arent giving discounts on their fees . If it wasnt for my partner that keeps handing out benefit of the doubt tokens Id go back to planet fitness where they had no issues with addressing that their facility is a public facility and its not a members personal home equipment.

For my first time attending lifetime fitness I was amazed about the kindness I have received with the people in the front desk and the quality of care to the building. I was later disappointed meeting a male employee with long ginger hair. He was unnecessarily rude and dismissive when asked where the cycling studio was. Just avoid this personification of a bully and you have a great experience.

If you want to get ripped off come here, I was a member for 10+ years and they seemed to careless as they up everyone’s rates. I’ve noticed since they got bought out in 2014 it’s just been going downhill. So glad I woke up and stopped giving my hard earned money to these people.

As usual. Great staff. Great service. Great facility. You’ll pay more but if you care about the quality of service and cleanliness of the facility in conjunction with the array of amenities then you pay for what you get. Gets a little busy like every other gym out there but if your looking for a fitness oasis, this is the place.

Used to be a nice place. Recently pool closed early regularly due to lack of staff, broken pumps mismanagement of maintenance times, renovations. Did I mention the random and frequent closures on the pools and hot tubs?

I love Lifetime, we have been coming here as a family for years. Its clean... Impeccably and noticably clean! The staff are all EXTREMELY nice, welcoming, and friendly... And my kids the the kid zone. Would give it 10 stars if I could

Rude employee Tanya showed some of the poorest customer service and condescending talk when asked on the last day of the outdoor pool opening if she could simply turn on the mushroom fountain. My sister who was there as a guest couldnt believe the power trip attitude Tanya projected. My sister was considering membership, but will never come back after feeling so belittled.

Great facility, feels like a spa experience. Just wish they had a private changing area for non-binary and/or trans people to feel more comfortable.

Facility is OK . They scammed me and failed to disclose the indoor pools will be closed in the summer. And I will have to pay an additional $200 a month (4 people) to use the outdoor pool. When I mentioned specifically I was signing up to teach kids to swim 3weeks ago.

This gym is amazing with so many amenities. Even on their busy day they still have exercises machines available.

DONT JOIN!!! The management of the fitness center is miserable. Gym floor not monitored for equipment and towels left in the middle of the floor. People bring backpacks and gym bags to the workout area, blocking walk ways and reserving equipment. The locker rooms are disgusting due to no one performing routine cleaning (mopping, towel collection, sink area clean up, just all around nasty. Hair and other things everywhere in the shower area. The pool area deck is also neglected, with no cleaning throughout the day. Members have to resort to using their feet and towels to try and get the hair and dust off the exercise room floors. DO NOT JOIN! You are better off spending 60% less at another gym and just bring your own towel, because towel service is the only thing Life Time does well. See my photos.

Absolute SCAM ARTISTS. I was a member here for over a decade and finally got fed up and left. They promised me to keep the SAME rates when I initially signed up years ago. Then every year they’d slowly up charge more on the monthly dues. Gym is the same old same no upgrades. They got bought out 5 years ago and everything just went to hell. I hope this place gets shut down. It makes me mad how much money I wasted here. DO NOT COME HERE.

I LOVE MY GYM.They have been reasonable (as in using reason) during the pandemic. A TON of extra cleaning so that we can still go. (Which I am grateful for)Staff is helpful and courteous.And if you need a trainer go to Ryan Chew.

New member here. I’ve gone about 4 times and so far so great. They enforce masks, do temps checks when you come through the door and have hand sanitizers everywhere. I go in the late mornings and very little people on the machines! I think it’s because of COVID but no complaints here.

Way too expensive for things to be broken all the time with an exceptionally long wait time to get fixed.

I had the time to visit your nice facility two days ago , my friend recommended to me . We had great time played basket ball , I like there is two courts and claiming wall great touch . The parking was good I Did not expect there was a lots of ppl there which is great . I like the place I wish I could join with you guys but Im like 1 away with no traffic. Only one thing I have to mention is the locker room, please maintain all the locker and make sure that they lock bc I had trouble to find a locker lock . Keep the great work.

Why in the world would management allow individuals with face shields workout in an area that clearly states, masks are required. I spoke with staff and the manager on duty and about this several times and was told to speak with the general manager. I have yet to speak with him, but they have all stated they are following the guidance of their general manager. Very careless by Lifetime management. I left the gym mid workout one time because a gentleman with a shield began doing sit us beside me. Its not my job to enforce the rules that are posted stating a mask is required. Ill be back after my second shot, but going above and beyond what corporate is saying to appease a group that wants to wear shield as opposed to a mask is pretty careless and thoughtless. I have a family membership and considering canceling my membership until my family is fully vaccinated. A number of my friends are feeling the same regarding Life Times mask policy.

Way over over priced. They don’t care about long time members ever since they got bought out. The club is the same old equipment for the past 10 years. Who the hell wants to pay 120$ a month to go workout? They’re prejudice. They just want a certain crowd going there, snobs like the people that run this company. So mad I wasted myMoney here.

The facility is always clean the staff is helpful always. Been a member there for at least five years highly recommend it.

At first, the service was really great and 24 hour operation. Now service is not that good gym close 10 p.m and it seems they just care about the money~Please check up the service and ask the member what life time need at this point.Many people were disappointed with service and they are complaining. The life time should listen to their voice.

Ive been coming to this gym for over a year now. I signed up with an awesome Manager named Aaron Magazine. Aaron was very thorough in his tour with me and was not pushy in trying get me signed up. The gym is amazing as well as the hot tub, pools, and basketball court. The staff here are all very nice as well. It all starts with the lovely ladies and gentlemen at the front desk who are always kind and helpful. This location is also physically stunning both inside and out! From the outdoor pool area and granite tabletops everywhere, to the phenomenal locker rooms and eucalyptus sauna. 10/10 handling during this epidemic to help the community stay safe and still be able to workout! By far the best gym in the area.

Wow this place is amazing. They are being super cautious and have sanitation stations and wipes everywhere. Love the atmosphere.

The place overall is in good standard, and the staff are friendly. I just wanted to point out that water in Lifetime swimming pools can be cleaner.The water is quite turbid in my opinion, comparing with neighboring pools I visited, such as Columbia swim center and pools at University of Maryland. I guess the pool filters or skimmers can be cleaned more frequently.

Always filthy. They have promised to do better at least a half a dozen times (and I’ve complained far more) but nothing ever changes. Now watch: someone from the club will respond to this review and apologize for my experience. Come back in a month and I will provide fresh photographic evidence that they have done nothing. For all their marketing hype about being your best and achieving blah blah blah, they are doing nothing like it for the members. No integrity.

The people that work the front desk to check you in are the most morbid, uninviting people i have ever seen. no hello or greeting or anything, they just scan your card with the most cold and lifeless expression on their faces. seriously? you put these people at the front to welcome your guests? i certainly didnt feel welcomed. it is also very poorly managed for the price, not worth it at all. save your time and money and go to a different gym.

Love it here - so glad I joined. Resort-style atmosphere makes it SO worth it. COVID protocols are great, def feels super clean and safe. Gym area requires masks - people are doing great about social distancing.

THIS IS MY SPOT ! love love love it ! During Covid they keep it so clean I don’t feel weird to go work out at all. Not to crowded and every other machine is blocked off so you’re not stuck working out close to people. Swimming pool area can get crowded but it’s spacious so doesn’t feel overwhelming. Today was my first day as a new member. I have to first say its a beautiful gym, and the best Ive ever been to. With that being said, the reason why Im rating this so low, is to give back good critical feedback to both readers and hopefully the managers/owners of Life Time.As a first time customer, I was really nervous, so I came at 5am (an hour after opening time). The parking lot was PACKED. I parked in the back. I took this picture at around 7am and honestly the parking lot looked about the same as it did when I went in (only with more light).I skipped the locker room (until the end) because I was so nervous to go in, and went upstairs to the gym section. There were so many people. I was really shocked. Most of the machines were taken including the free weights. At the end of the day I was able to find the machines I was looking for, since people there were VERY friendly. I dont know if they worked there or not; I honestly couldnt tell you. But they helped me find where things were. I also appreciated not being badgered as a first time customer - kudos for this.Main points of criticism:-Too many people even during the earliest hours....This led to the following;-Locker room being packed-Machines taken-Anxiety out the roof for a first time customer, which disincentivized me-For the money, the restrooms could be upgraded. They could be much cleaner and spacious. I get that this is an old place and its been around 13+ years. But it could definitely use an upgrade.-24 hours would be terrific, because I do not want to go at 4am and see a packed gym.EASY solution and my recommendation: PLEASE build another Lifetime gym, in this area. And upgrade *this* one just a bit (ie. bathroom). The demographics and the amount of people are outrageous. This could lead to better hours, cheaper memberships, and yield greater profit for your company and employees. As a customer and gym lover, Id really love to see this happen. Also please add a Life Time in the Northwest - like Oregon. Thanks.

By far the best gym in the state of Maryland. Open 24hrs a day and the cleanest gym, pools, locker rooms you will find. For having the amenities, 4 pools open in summer, 2 in winter, plus all the state of the art equipment you have more then likely never seen its worth the price.

Training staff is great (they saved this review from giving lower rating). Facilities have quality equipment. Members and other staff are generally friendly. Locker room looks great.... when its clean.... but thats not always the case. Dont feel Im getting the experience I am paying to get.

I’ve been going here for over two years and it’s not bad. Has all the equipment I need and nice amenities. It can get really crowded in the afternoon but if you go really early in the morning or really late at night it’s pretty empty.

I wonder what turn of events happened for this wounded veteran. It would be great to think that he is using some of his disposable income to help other wounded veteran rather than driving a Bentley and parking in the 1 parking spot designated for them at the gym.

Great spot to workout fully loaded with clean and functional facilities and equipment. I went on a Sunday and there was plenty of space and opportunity to complete a number of workouts.

The pools are clean and well maintained. They are easy on rules. I love the salon and cafe. The basketball court is nice and they have a ton of equipment. The facility is clean.

Can’t get any better for the price they offer. All sort of machines, weights, benches. Amazing gym at an amazing location.

I was a member since 2005 when lifetime first opened. I stopped coming then signed up again. Everything is pretty much the same as it was just older. One thing changed though, the workout area. The new set up just made everything bunched up...people are literally right next to you. You have no private space. The Gaithersburg location is definitely more spacious. I wish Columbia lifetime made it similar to that. Besides that though, everything is good the way it is.

The place has no service so you can’t really use your phone and I work on my phone so this was very frustrating! Also they charge a very heavy price monthly to be a member and with the corona virus I don’t think this is fair to us because half the things are not available like before and also the hours also have been cut! Hopefully they can fix these issues soon.

This gym refuses to require its members to wear masks. It requires staff to wear masks (still saw someone at the front desk yesterday improperly wearing their mask as it only was covering their mouth). Masks usually cant be worn during exercise however, ever since they opened you will find plenty of people walking around without any face covering. When I asked about this i was told that it wasnt a requirement in Maryland so theyre not requiring everyone to wear it. Other gyms in the area require everyone to wear a mask when not exercising. For such a high risk environment, you can never do too much. Why is Life Time doing the bare minimum in this case?

Great facility, friendly staff, especially in the kids play room. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. The only downside is too busy at times and hard to get on thr equipment with out waiting. People hang out on the retirement and text. Overall great place!

Just cancelled after being a member for 13 years, no joke I signed up as they were building the place. First off, canceling was easy as pie, and the least grief Ive ever had from a health club. Yes it is 30 days written notice and it says so in your agreement. That said it took less than 5 minutes and I had an email before I left confirming that I could use the club for the next month, would not be billed again, and I had through 60 days to change my mind. Really, thats what I was promised when I joined and they honored it. As far as facilities go, the club really does try to do its best and for that I give it 5 stars. The equipment was always varied and it appealed to everything I wanted. Over the years they did a good job keeping it clean and current, hence why I was I member for so long. All the members Ive ever run into are great, and frankly I never once got pestered by a personal trainer or anyone trying to see me things. Awesome to be able to walk in, do what you want and leave without being up-sold. Its not a cheap gym, definitely premium priced but depending on your tastes it can deliver. I would recommend!

During my first cycling class the toe clips came off the pedals and I fell off the cycling. No one shared with me that these toe cages are quick release. The stationary cycling fell on top on me. This was my first and last cycling class at Life Time.

Amazing everything is clean rhey have a basketball court two of them one for adults and one for kids a rock climbing wall a indoor and outdoor pool also a hot tub and 4 water slides 2 inside and 2 outside everything is amazing and they have many many many many things even a spa so I hope everyone has an amazing time there!

Lifeguards were not attentive even after asking for help

All I can say is that Lifetime should be glad that they do not have a lot of competition in the area, or they would be in big trouble. I used to be a member of the Columbia Association gyms but I did not enjoy the group fitness that they offered, so I thought Id give a Lifetime a try. The only reason I give Lifetime Fitness two stars instead of one star is because I love JR, Charles, Debbie, Ashleigh, and Ema in the group fitness department. They are amazing. They have helped me get into great shape and lose weight. Now here is the bad part.....The workout area is DISGUSTING!! I never NEVER see employees cleaning the equipment. I can often see dust and dirt on the machines. I always wipe my machines down BEFORE and AFTER I use them. Many times when I want to wipe down these machines, the wipes are OUT. How can you keep the gym clean when there are no wipes? Gross. The towel bins are usually over flowing and need to be emptied and I have actually gone to the gym on a Saturday morning when there were no towels available for over thirty minutes. Now, I can blame Lifetime for every problem but that is not true. The biggest problem in the gym are the other members. Most of the gym member are rude, pushy, uncivilized, and selfish. Shocking for Howard County, I know. I noticed many people just sitting on machines while on their phones for ten minutes texting their BFFs or instagraming a selfie of their hot gym bods. Many members also dont wipe down their machines after they get them all gross and sweaty. Members who are also in great shape think its appropriate to park in the handicapped spaces out front. Specifically, there is a lady with a new WHITE BMW X5 that walks as good as I do that always parks in the handicapped spots. It literally makes my blood BOIL. Theres a special place in Hell for people that use handicapped spots and arent actually handicapped. Ive also seen bags of McDonalds and other healthy fast food establishments littered all over the parking lot when there are trash bins inside and outside of the gym. And, apparently Lifetime is the newest place to smoke your marijuana. Last night, I personally witnessed 5 youths in an old beat up BLACK ACURA TL smoking marijuana. The parking lot smelled terrible. If you want to smoke dope, do it at your house, not the gym. I really think Lifetime needs to hire a parking/security monitor. I WILL BE calling the police from now on when I see this kind of behavior. I come to thy gym to be healthy, not to smell nasty weed. In conclusion, this gym is lack-luster, over-priced, and I am never NEVER satisfied. If you want a truly clean gym, check out the Columbia Association gyms. The gyms might be old, but at least theyre CLEAN. The saving graces for Lifetime are many of the group fitness instructors and the cafe workers. Their smoothies are delicious.

I have belonged to various gyms in MD and TX for the past 47 years and Lifetime by far is the best. The instructors are very professional and the best I have ever had. The Pilates studio and staff for both studio and mat Pilates are exceptional.

The staff is doing a fantastic job, making sure everyone is conforming to Covid regulations, plus staff is considered wiping & spraying down all equipment

If you’re a hooper, please don’t go to this gym. They have 2 gyms, one gym always has camps for little kids which is very aggravating and the other is usually full with groups of people. If you want a gym membership and you want to hoop, go to a gym like supreme sports club....

Great gym, loads of equipment, machines, cardio options including rock climbing, swimming and basketball courts. Yes its a little pricy but thats because youre probably not utilizing your membership to its fullest.

Love that this Gym opens at 4:00 in the morning. Its not crowded during this time, or throughout the morning. Good selection of free weights, machines, and endless cardio equipment. Havent had a chance to use the other amenities (cafe, spa), but they look nice as well.

I have been a member at this gym for more than 2 years now. It is sad to say, but it does nothing more than aggravate and upset me anymore. I have an extremely stressful job and the gym is usually my only outlet. At this point, with the amount of people inside at any given time, and the seemingly shrinking free weights section, it’s normally impossible to get a decent workout in without bumping shoulders with “bros”. Recently the gym decides they are now going take away the 24/7 benefit and limit their hours. Wonderful. Price reduction? Not a chance. I also really enjoy the fact that the water merely trickles out of the water fountains half the time. That way you have to get your face really close to the water fountain which is just splendid. Clean it up lifetime. Otherwise I’m taking my family and several friends that joined with me, and we are moving elsewhere. There are FAR TO MANY ANNOYANCES for the amount of money I spend annually at your facility.

I love this place it is great for Swim Team lessons! If you are looking for some swim lessons this is the place to go. All the coaches are super nice. I highly recommend this place!

Thought the new manager would make some changes but no. Place is still dirty and trainers dont even say hello to you. Im a 10+ year member and its always the same. But if you go to other Lifetime Clubs, they are super friendly. I just dont get it.Update: 5/19/21. Another GM. Wow....same old same old. Equipment vinyl ripped and torn. Still waiting to be fixed.

Closed basketball courts, but every other gym in the county’s basketball gym are opened. They’re lazy, ignorant and don’t care about their members only making a dollar. Additionally, with the removal of the basketball court the membership has only increased.

Great place to get a good workout in!

I was a member for about 7 years and it was great at the beginning. Then classes became overfilled, you have to come half an hour earlier to make sure you will take a spot in front of doors so you could get a spot in a room. This is yoga class, for God sake, you want to relax before and not to be anxious about getting into the room or not. Other classes are overloaded as well. Machines i would normally use are always busy, so you have a choice to wait or use what is not occupied. And all this for $90 a month! Which also happened without the gym telling me about price increase. When i decided to cancel my membership because it was not fun to go to anymore, i was waiting for a someone to show up at members service desk for a 15 min and i was told that he is giving a tour others future members. After he showed up he did not try to tell me about suspension of membership option (even though i know about it). But it feels like he and no one even care about loosing a client. O, well, their lost. The bottom line is, the service and atmosphere is not worth $90 a month.

Love this gym. Its clean and has a wonderful sauna and 25 meter lap pool. Love it.

As someone who has lived in Columbia their whole life, and been a member of both CA and YMCA, I can honestly tell you LifeTime is the best gym in the area. Obviously the gym is going to be crowded after work, especially after New Years, but just asking someone to work in really isnt that hard. Everyone who goes there, staff included, has always been polite. Sure its a little expensive, but I feel like the added amenities make up for the price. If you dont like this gym, please dont come here anymore so its a little less crowded for those of us who do enjoy it.

I love lifetime, but the ONLY reason i joined Lifetime and pay the money i do each month is because it was 24hrs. Now that they are changing that rule and are still charging the money they do, I’m very unhappy.Please change back!!!!!!!! 😡It is told the reason for the change is to “keep it clean and like new”. It’s already clean and well maintained!!!! There has NOT been a decline in nighttime members, i am there ALL THE TIME after midnight and there is still a good amount of people that attend that late....please change back or CA might see more members fore they are 24 hours still!

Best gym in the area. Only problem is the cost reflects that. No discounts for anything. (Nothing I can find. No corporate or wellness program discount). I had to let my membership go. I couldn’t afford the high cost. It’s worth it if you can afford it.

Not sure why this place has such a low review. Its pretty crowded but its also a beautiful gym and has all the equipment you could possibly want or need.

I visited with my daughter; I do not know how this place makes it with all the local competition (RCCC, CA, YMCA...) but it is packed with people - and these folks have beautiful and strong bodies, This a COMPLETE gym.

Amazing gym! They go above and beyond. I really enjoy coming here, working out and refreshing with a showering. This gym is very modernized, has a luxurious feel and a whole lot to offer.
