Ray our ICU nurse on the 2nd floor, did a outstanding job of taking care of my loved one, was very impressed with his clinical and soft people skills.Thank you Ray for your compassionate care. Very impressed with Boone Hospital!!!I want to recognize a terrific RN named Hope also in the ICU department (2018S) who was awesome as well, this nurse went above and beyond in her care!!My family and I are very grateful for the professional, quality, care that we received. If you or your loved ones need cardiac care, I would recommend Boone.

Waiting to pick someone up from surgery... I was grateful they had some “manly” reading material! They also have a maze of hallways with lots of fun art in them. If you’re stuck waiting for somebody you can still get your exercise and see some pretty stuff. Pete Starcher was a nurse that worked on my case, he changed my life! The man is not only a super nurse he’s super professional and super wise. I also was extremely blessed by a nurse practitioner named Connie Kaiser. Her insights into the issues I was dealing with saved my family lots of pain and grief. We will go here again.

On February 25, I fell off a 10’ ladder. I dislocated my foot and fractured my ankle in several places. I could see the bottom of my own foot. Your ER staff, literally every single person I came in contact with, was efficient, compassionate, and knowledgeable. I never felt delayed or uninformed and it was obvious my well being and comfort was of utmost importance. I wound up in the OR that night, I can say the same for the staff there as well. Boone Hospital made a bad situation as pleasant as possible. I was very impressed!

My husband went in to the ER complaining that a small cut on his foot was infected and he was having trouble breathing when he would lay down. They told him nothing was wrong and sent him home they did draw cultures which takes 72 hours to come back to see if he had an infection. He ended up dying a few weeks later because he was septic and then fiction attacked his heart however no one at the ER believed us nor did they call us after the cultures actually grew something which could have prevented his death. He was 42 and his death could have been prevented but no one in the ER seemed to care or take his complaint seriously.

A full star is generous. I had full hip replacement and the after care was pathetic. I asked 3 different people about getting up after dinner. Didnt happen, 14 and half hours in bed. My cath bag almost had as long to wait, 3p to 12:45a. I took pictures. I hit the call button twice because my pain level was going up. 1 and half hours later, level started at a 4 at the end when they finally came in was at an 8. And yes I realize I was not the only person in the hospital but my health and well being is just as important as anyone else.

Called to see what networks they take since it has changed since last being there. When inquiring the billing department about the Insurance Networks they take, the billing department had no clue what networks are accepted. How does a billing department for a hospital not know what insurance networks they take?Hospitals that do this, are less about the patients being covered for what they need, but are about getting as many patients in for profit rather then what is best for their patients. Ridiculous.

I had neck surgery and was in a lot of pain. My surgeon, Dr Miles, and his team are fantastic. I had zero numbness and tingling after my surgery compared to before. However, if you are staying overnight at the hospital, I would recommend having someone stay with you as an advocate. Apparently they are short-staffed. At home, my pain meds are readily available and I can use the bathroom every time I need to without irritating someone. I can also easily switch my ice pack for my neck pain, which was never done for me there. I felt like a burden there and ended up in tears. I have been doing great recovering at home. Very disappointed in my overnight care experience.

I have never met such a awesome floor of professional people in my life. They checked on him every 2 hours to make sure he was comfortable and pain free. They also took there time to talk to us and made sure we were taking care as well. A lot of my family was there around 10 days total. The whole crew was all the same way. What a blessing to our lives to have met and be with. A BIG THANK YOU to them.

Ive been here for three days now. Ive come and gone over a dozen times throughout the day and night. Every single time I leave someone is directly outside the Main Entrance doors smoking a cigarette. Most of the time its multiple people. Yesterday, I saw five people sitting in a circle with a patient smoking. If youre going to have a non-smoking sign every two feet at least enforce it. Ive called security four times yet never seen anyone show up to do anything about it.

I went in by ambulance I was in sereve pain my whole right side of my body was throbbing. I sat crying in my room for hours listening to the nurses talk and laugh. I definitely didn’t feel welcomed or cared for. Working at the University hospital there is such a huge difference. People actually actually try to make sure your comfortable there. My monitors kept going off and nobody would come. I was left without a wrist band. I was also freezing without a blanket. I understand to some people it’s just a job but if you can’t put on a face and actually care about sick, wounded or sad people. You should choose a different occupation. The first nurse was the rudest. I swear I just wanted to walk home. I’ve never been in so much pain in my life. I left the hospital unclear of my illness. Totally sad. If you have a choice I recommend going to the university hospital.

I gave an extra star for the nurses, who make the best of a bad situation, but overall, this is a place run by accountants. Constant understaffing makes it more than likely you will not have a great experience. Here are the issues we had from my wifes recent admission:1. Very unresponsive staff. She was wheeled into the room and didnt see a nurse for nearly 12 hours, aside from one telling her she would see her in 15 minutes. Call button has nearly no effect whatsoever. Often it was more than an hour before a nurse showed up.2. Nearly no continuity of care. The nurses did their best to get issues like drug timing and dosing figured out, but there was next to no effective communication with the next shift, so everything started over. Often drug administration was hours late, and timed so that drugs were administered with other drugs from which they were to be separated.3. Cleanliness. My wifes room was never cleaned thoroughly while she was there, causing her to have to wipe up messes herself with a paper towel. Her highly contagious condition was not respected with regard to other patients. This made us wonder about her exposure to other illnesses. My advice to anyone admitted to this hospital is to have an intelligent loved one by their side as much as possible. All the baby grand pianos and fancy architecture doesnt help when the staff cant figure out which way is up. You are on your own.

I have to say the Boone Family Birthplace was a big disappointment for our third child. WARNING: They had the nursery closed for two of the three nights my wife was in the hospital. If you are a single mom or if you have other children and you dont have someone who can stay with you, do not use Boone. Frankly it was unsafe for my wife, who had a c section.Im a Boone baby and so is my wife, along with all three of my children. This was the first time weve had a bad experience, but it was terrible. The explanation was they have too many babies and not enough staff, which just shows the poor management. You know they are making plenty of money to bring on more nurses. Its a shame because they do have some great nurses (Angie, Courtney, and Alice were wonderful for us and the lactation consultant was amazing). They did a skin to skin birth where the baby stays with mommy from the moment of birth, which was a very cool experience for my wife. Our labor and delivery experience was great, just not post pardom.

My father is currently at Boone hospital. The Doctors and nurses don’t even communicate! The RN’s and the techs are poorly trained, have an attitude when asking questions, leave people unattended for hours on end, and the doctors change from day to day leaving them in the dark as to what is going on with their patients. Whomever the administrator is for this hospital needs to be removed from their position and replaced. Boone used to be the best hospital in Columbia, MO. about 10 years ago; but that is clearly not the case anymore. Go to the University where they actually take care of their patients. I will NEVER go to Boone and I am currently working on moving my father to the U immediately. Stay away!

My grandma just got out of this hospital after being there for a month and I would say it was the worst experience in a hospital ever. Most of the nurses were TERRIBLE. First off one told my family that my grandma just wanted to die and was depressed. She did NOT have the psychological credentials to be giving her this diagnosis. My grandma is one of the happiest ladies you will ever meet. Second we told one of the nurses she couldnt have a certain medication because she was allergic to it and two hours later the nurse gives it to her. These are just SOME of the things we are upset about. We will NEVER be going back to this hospital.

One hour and 20 min of waiting since the time I arrived no one came to say that they are running behind or even sorry for your wait. I understand they could have been busy but there was obviously no respect for MY time. I got dressed and walked out and informed the person at the desk . If I was on my dying breath and had only this hospital was available to me. I would just die.. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with any establishment in the health care industry.
