Our daughter went to the school for over two years. The teaching staff has always been kind and friendly however there is a high turnover of teachers. check the Maryland Child Care website as there have been some incidents in the past regarding ratios and regulations. There were three or four directors in place while she attended the school. The owner owns many childcares throughout the area. It seems that some of the directors are overwhelmed and the owner doesnt seem to be very invested. There was a lack of communication about changes in teachers and directors and when teachers and staff were absent. Again all the teachers were very nice but I feel the owner was not giving her best attention to this facility. Another positive thing about this facility is that it is very affordable compared to other places. They do give snacks but you do have to provide your own lunch. The facility is an older place. I have seen them do repairs periodically. During covid the students and staff stayed safe and I had no concerns about the health of my child. We ultimately changed to another daycare due to the inconsistency. We thought this affected the academic instruction. I thought they were holes and gaps in the academics that my daughter was learning when it came to pre-k reading and math skills. She was not consistently learning her letters and numbers. Decent place but no frills, you get what you pay for. They do communicate with an app with pictures. There is diversity in the families who attend. We outgrew the facility and were happy at our new place.

When we first started looking we went off the reviews and went to a number of “the best” child care facilities in Howard County only to be sorely and impressively disappointed. When we did a little more digging we found Oakridge and did a walkthrough and meet and great with the owner. We were impressed with the facilities and the number of teachers to the kids so we decided to give them a try. Initially we thought we would do only a month but after the first week it was apparent my child absolutely loved the place! She smiles at her teacher when we drop her off and it’s clear that her teacher cares about her and wants to see my child develop healthy and strong. My wife and I also love that they teach more than one language at the school from Spanish to Arabic! This is an amazing facility with amazing people! I recommend this place to my coworkers constantly and so far none have been disappointed.

My son attended this school for 9 month. Initially, I expressed concerns about his teacher and this language barrier. She couldnt provide clear updates on his mood, food intake, and overall experience through out the day. This was addressed immediately and the teacher was switched to another class. We loved it after this. Once he started walking, he was transitioned into the toddler class. During this transition, he was placed in the class with the originally teacher, who has a language barrier. He was a bit older, so we didnt press the issue. About two months into this new class, my husband picked up our son and he had a knot on his head. No one called us to explain this, no one knew what happen, and there wasnt an incident report completed. The teacher was contacted, and due to this language issue, could not understand nor provide any helpful information. We requested that the video cameras be checked and this took several days, only to be told that the camera wasnt recording this particular day. We expressed our frustration and made the logical and safe decision to pull our son. The school director continued to try and change our minds and even offered reduced tuition for the following month, as if that would even us out. We had to adjust our lives and work immediately, which came with many consequences and reduction in our income. I do not recommend this school for babies and toddlers.

We have been really pleased with the curriculum, care, and positive environment for our 1 1/2 year old son. He has advanced so much since transitioning here from a home daycare. He is counting, recognizing shapes, and increasing his vocabulary just to name a few. My son loves his teachers, especially Ms. Mary. They are very attentive. Ms. Allison keeps us well-informed regarding the care of our son, and has been nothing short of professional since he started attending Oak Ridge.

Our son went here from 3 months-9 months. The ONLY reason we left is because we moved out of state. The teachers are AMAZING and I never had to worry about the care my son was receiving. He would smile as soon as we would arrive every morning.

We had our daughter in this daycare from 9 weeks to 11 months. We saw the center undergo many changes, but they do have a few very dedicated, caring and warm staff on board. We felt we were getting a great deal for the area, and we appreciated their hours as well as their flexibility.

We love Oakridge Montessori, our two year old has learned so much since joining their program. They have a wonderful curriculum , as well as , extra school sprite days, a new snack menu. The staff are very caring and work with the students of a variety of actives that are age appropriate and educational. My daughter loves going to school each day and we look forward to continuing with the program as she gets older.

We were not satisfied with the care at Oakridge. I know its a newer center so Im sure they are working out the kinks and figuring out their policies. We had our daughter there for one month; she was 2.5 months old at the time and caught hand foot and mouth disease. She clearly caught this from one of the caregivers as she was so young, since she didnt play or interact with the other children. Being new parents we had no idea what was wrong with her until we took her to our pediatrician who diagnosed it. I called the manager at the center and she stated, oh yeah, its going around, all of the other kids in her room have it. I understand that the kids are going to get sick no matter what, however, it would have been nice to have received written notice or even a phone call to notify us that the disease was going around so we had a heads up. I emailed the manager about it and received no response. After withdrawing our daughter, I went to the center to pick up the rest of her belongings, and just dropped in around lunch time. I saw two of the babies in the infant room screaming on the floor, no caregiver to be found. The caregiver in the older infant room was sweeping the floor while the other babies cried. I did not regret withdrawing our daughter after seeing that either.

My toddler has learned so much since she has been at this school. They work on fine motor skills, and come up with creative actives to teach the lesson . She is working on numbers, shapes , colors. We love the scene of family we feel from the staff , as if provides a loving , caring and nurturing environment.

My husband and I toured here for our two children and we loved it! Im not sure what the other review was talking about, perhaps they have made some changes since she has been here. The teachers credentials are posted on their front bulletin boards including the expiration dates. As for any recalled furniture, I never saw anything. The furniture was in great condition and the staff was very friendly.

I love the curriculum how the school teaches about different cultures and independent work ethic. The staff is caring, and hard working coming up with creative ways to teach lessons to the students. I like the healthy snack options that school provides in the morning and in the afternoon.

Teachers are not CPR certified and do not have 45-90 hour child development training. My child has been left in recalled furniture, left in her own soil, and even gone without food while under their care. The last straw for me was the lack of staffing. My kid was left in the infant room with 1 adult and 6 infants. This center does not follow any State childcare laws.

We enrolled our son, who is 2 years old at Oakridge Montessori a few months ago and have had a positive experience here. He was previously enrolled at another daycare not too far away, and was traumatized by being bitten three times by more than one child within two weeks. When I started taking him to Oakridge Montessori, drop offs were a little difficult as this was an unfamiliar setting and due to his past experience. His teachers are attentive, and quickly learned that he needed just a few extra cuddles at drop off. By week two, he was comfortable at drop off and really started thriving. He has come home singing his ABCs and nursery rhymes, and his language has taken off. From the photos his teachers send home daily on the brightwheel app, it looks like he is enjoying reading, doing artwork, and playing with his friends. He has also taken an interest in potty training and wants to try the toilet at home since starting here. His teachers have encouraged him to go on the potty. The only reason I didnt enroll both my daughter (now 4 years old) and my son here two years ago when we first moved to the neighborhood is because the 2s room is in the basement. The kids do get outdoor time daily (weather permitting). If you can get over that, this is a really great program, and I highly recommend it.

Our daughter has been going here for almost 2 years and started when she was 3 months old. We have had our ups and downs, but at the end of the day my daughter LOVES going to school here! She has such a wonderful relationship with the teachers and you can tell they care about her too. When she was an infant, they taught her sign language. As a toddler (not quite 2), she can identify some numbers, shapes, letters and colors (not to mention she started saying 4 word sentences too); I know this is due to Oakridge and the attention they pay to our daughter. Staffing has been stable for the past 6 months, unlike the prior 6 months. The staff have been attentive, and always respond timely, to notes in the brightwheel app. The director has been quick to respond via email, and always available to discuss concerns or issues. Every issue (only a few) were addressed in an expedited fashion and to my satisfaction. I should note that I am very aware of COMAR regulatory requirements having been a quality assurance director and current leader for a healthcare agency operating under COMAR guidelines; and I choose to send my child here. No place is perfect, but the loving and caring demeanor of the staff at Oakridge seals the deal for me!

My daughter enrolled in Oakridge Montessori Academy in May of 2015. We are very pleased with the Montessori curriculum providing a nurturing, but structured learning environment. The school staff in attentive and cares for each student like their own child. The school also has spirit days (crazy hair, PJ, Super Hero ect) and enriching Related Arts classes such as Yoga, Spanish and Music. Each day my daughter comes home happy and willing to share her wonderful experiences and lessons she learned that day.

If I were reviewing this place 6 months ago, I would have given 5 stars but so much has changed since then. There has been a relative complete turnover in staff and there is a complete lack of communication unless you ask as changes happen. I seriously question whether the new teachers have any montessori training as they are very different from the ones there previously. I just dont believe that children here are getting the same level of development or education that they were prior to Ocat 2017 when the previous director left.Additionally, the owners of this place own several daycares I believe and shift staff between centers as needed apparently as well. Its hard to say what is going to happen with this center in the future but I dont feel optimistic.
