I’m actually Eileen’s daughter. I’m giving brightstar 5 stars because they took excellent care of my mother. We are currently transitioning mom to another state. During this process I needed care for my mom while I was out of town. I hired someone from 9am-1pm and 5pm-9pm for roughly 2 weeks. My mom had a few different caregivers. Mom got along with them really well and looked forward to seeing them daily. The caregivers also did some light work around the house. Everything was top notch! I don’t typically write reviews for anything but I take caregiving especially for my elderly mother very seriously. I would recommend this service to all. Nothing beats peace of mind knowing your loved one is safe and happy.Also, the staff was excellent and super informative! Thanks again Max and Cedric for all your help! I think we started this journey on a Sunday. This meant a lot to me because most businesses, especially during this pandemic, have limited hours. You did not. You got back to me and helped us through the process to get mom care. I am grateful.

We have utilized Bright Stars pediatric nursing services for approximately the past five years. We have received excellent services through Bright Star and have been very pleased. They have been great about communicating with us and have always addressed any issues promptly. (In the years before switching to Bright Star, we went through three other nursing agencies and struggled to find consistency and good nursing care.) We would happily recommend Bright Star to anyone else looking for pediatric nursing services.

I used Bright Star about 12 years ago. My husband had ALS. His aides were wonderful. They took care of my Bruce and offered support for me.Now it’s my turn. I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks with a broken leg. I came home last night. I need 24 hour care.Grace greeting me. She is 8pm - 8:am. Already, I know she’s amazing. For over a year BrightStar of Howard County provided nursing and other care on an around-the-clock basis for my wife. The care was exceptional and the nurses and other staff became good friends with my wife and myself. The nursing staff was well trained and provided care above and beyond including exercise support, wound care, grooming assistance feeding and much more. The scheduling staff was also highly responsive to changes dictated by hospitalization from time to time. Overall BrightStar was a great choice for serious home health care.

We are very happy with our live-in caregiver from Bright Star, Loretta Rozzell. She is always upbeat and pleasant and goes out of her way to make meals that my mom enjoys. She knows how to play some of the games my Mom likes to play, also. She is diligent about taking care of my moms physical and personal needs

Bright Stars have helped us care for our parents 24/7 for over 5 years now. The caregivers are thoughtful and kind, and the office staff and owner are responsive. They helped us through our fathers passing 3 years ago and have been very attentive to our mother who has late stage dementia and just had her 90th birthday. As with all things, there are occasional bumps (like when a parent has a sudden change in condition or when a favorite caregiver needs a leave of absence) but BrightStar Care has helped us through it all.

The staff at Brightstar are very easy to work with and accommodating with changing hours. Everyone who helped my mom was wonderful with her and communicated with me via text. I thank them for going above and beyond.

We were extremely fortunate that Shannon was assigned by Brightstar to handle my husband’s infusion therapy. Shannon is awesome both as a nurse and as a person. I didn’t think it would be possible, but Shannon has amazingly taught me how to handle my husband’s infusion therapy while also giving me the confidence to do so. Our family is as shocked as I am. She is a great teacher, extremely friendly, and so easy to talk to. We have thoroughly enjoyed her visits and will definitely miss her!

I am an ex PICU nurse so I am hard to impress:) BrightStar anticipated that our 5 year old may need a little extra care during her infusion and they went above and beyond. They sent two excellent nurses. Sandy and Shannon. Sandy gave me her cell and we spoke days in advance and she listened to all of my concerns.. during her “free” time.Shannon knew how to partner with me to get a secure IV in place, even if we had to try a few times. Shannon felt responsible for my daughter’s comfort and knew how to speak to a child this young. She even came back a second time when she had other obligations. Truly invested in her work. Thank you Shannon.Sandy was the nurse who stayed with our daughter for the three days. Even though I am a nurse... I am a mom. She knew exactly how to take charge but be gentle with me. She taught my daughter how to cope with her discomfort, taught her how to operate her own pump and IV, and brought a sense of calm to the house. As I walked around stressed, I realized she was watching my daughter closely for any reactions. I trusted her. She had her safety top of mind and never left her side. She let me rest, offered to make food for my daughter, and much more. She even taught her to count to 5 in 3 languages.2 days after a long week, my daughter is reenacting the experience on her dolls. Reciting the caring words learned from Shannon and Sandy. Caring for her dolls the way she was cared for. Saying “I really like Shannon and Sandy”.Bright star! You have some stellar nurses who stepped up to the plate during a pandemic, and continue to step up for those who need them. They had a tough audience (mom who is a nurse is never fun). Thank you thank you thank you for teaching my daughter that hard things are part of life, and she is strong enough to get through them.

Thank you so much Cathy for my infusion the four day process my catheter has been in my arm all four days straight and when we took the catheter out it was no pain and I just want to thank you so much for taking good care of me thank you. I will be contacting Coram for January when I have to do my infusion again with the okra mix.

We had very last minute needs for in home care, and also we were unsure of exactly what we needed in the way of hours. I spoke to Karen, who returned my call almost immediately. She was so kind and compassionate and helpful, and she continued to be extremely responsive to my questions in email as I worked out what we needed. Honestly, she is the main reason we went with Brightstar.Brightstar was able to get staffing in place for us with round the clock 24 hour care within 2 days (which was our need) even though we were talking to them over a weekend. When our needs changed as we learned what care we needed, they adapted almost immediately.We had the health aides for about a month for overnight care. Both of the caregivers did a good job, were always on time (even with bad weather), and both were able to manage my grumpy post-surgery elderly father without a word of complaint. My father really liked one of the aides more than the other because she was more proactive in doing some of the minor chores around the house that came under her duties, and she took care of him without him feeling like she was hovering. But based on his care, I would recommend either caregiver without hesitation. I know sometimes personalities click and that’s not a function of someone’s capabilities.I will also note that the scheduling person was very responsive when I called or emailed, but her attitude was not the best. If I had spoken to her on the phone originally instead of Karen, I’m not sure I would have gone with Brightstar. She was terse with me on the phone and made me feel as if I was bothering her.Overall I highly recommend Brightstar for their responsiveness and flexibility, as well as their quality of caregivers.

Ive found this company here after reading positive Google reviews. Hoping that the reviews are legitimate called and scheduled a nurse to visit my 85 yr old dad. Max and his staff worked really fast. Response time was quick and easy. He sent nurse Sandi. Ive read about her glowing recommendations so happy she came. She was ontime, professional, caring and respectful with my parents. My parents had many nurses and health aids before thru home hospice so they are aware who is good and who is there just for a job. They thought Sandi cared. We only needed services for 3 months but definitely would call this company and request Sandi again. Im sure other nurses are just as just as good based on the reviews and many names mentioned. My cousin received services from BrightStar over several years to enable him to stay in independent living at Vantage House for as long as possible. The aides provided dignity and respect while helping him with daily living needs. They also brightened his life through experiences and conversation. The nursing oversight was excellent as well. My cousin loved to reminisce or talk politics and the aides were happy to listen and chat on those topics. The quality care he received helped my cousin to live to 91 with a clear mind and good health. At the end when my cousin declined treatment for Rhabdomyolysis his aides ensured that he was kept comfortable. We feel extremely fortunate to have had BrightStar recommended to us. The 5 stars indicate our wholehearted recommendation to others too.

Gladly will I write a review of BrightStar of Columbia, MD. They are fantastic. My Loved One has Alzheimers disease and BrightStar of Columbia has provided dedicated great care when I needed them. They are responsive, thorough, and the management has been very easy to work with. I have relied on them off and on during the past two years and they have provided everything from dedicate care, PT, to short care dedicated care.Their on-boarding is patient and family centered and they accept detailed information from you as well as feedback on the likes and dislikes of your affected Loved One. For my Loved One, BrightStar staff helped me collect valuable data on my Loved One during a major disease related decline. With that data, I was able to identify disease related changes that touched on aggression, appetite, best methods for redirects, and even the best times for administering meds. I was even able to maintain some ambulation of my Loved One because they were able to provide some trainers and PT staff.Even if your Loved One is in a facility with staff, if there is a need for additional support, BrightStar Care of Columbia is the only one I would call.

Working at a Rehab/Skilled nursing facility, many families inquire about private duty services and need additional caregiver support in order to care for their loved one at home. Practical nurse here ^_^Really enjoyed working with this company they really care about their patients and staff. I have worked Prn for a lot of places and I really enjoyed Brightstar. The DON Andrea is VERY sweet and open to hear concerns even with her extremely busy schedule. Sandy ADON is phenomenal and very knowledgeable about nursing I could call on her at anytime she amazing !!!! The scheduler Nikki is also always available to hear concerns and help with almost anything . Honestly I have had a great experience working as a nurse with them all . Max has a great team and a good heart I will definitely return the first chance I get to work with them again. Our family needed 24 hour care for our 90 year old father on very short notice. BrightStar was able to provide a caring staff around the clock and had someone to us in less then 6 hours. The staff was wonderful and they treated our dad as if he were part of their family. I highly recommend BrightStar of Howard County.

This company has wonderful people that lifted the burden on me when my wife needed care. From the first telephone interview, to their in-home needs evaluation, they were kind and understanding, and provided just the right, compassionate aide to see after her needs. Very flexible in scheduling and helpful throughout the process of her recuperation. Hopefully will never be needed again, but if that is not the case, I wont hesitate to call upon Brightstar once more.

I began working with Brightstar Care of Howard County more than one year ago. My husband needs 24 hour care. I have worked with other agencies in the past so I recognize excellence when I see it. The Administrative staff at Brightstar is responsive and caring. They try to make the best fit for both patient and caregiver. Our team of caregivershave been well trained and adapted easily. The best part is that our caregivers are permanent in that they do not change from day to day. The caregivers have treated my husband gently, compassionately and in a dignified manner.

Andrea Engle has been doing my injections for the past two years and at all times has shown great expertise and professionalism when handling the drug which needs to be properly mixed before injection. My medication is extremely expensive (more than my monthly income) and while Ive seen another nurse nervously handle and mix the drug, Andrea is cool, calm and collected while diligent and simultaneously carrying on a conversation about my present health. The shots she gives are next to painless. She uses correct cleanliness practices (of course!) and is friendly and very welcomed into my home. She made this inconvenience (Id rather not need an injection) something that I almost look forward to. I would recommend Andrea highly for any type of care a BrightStar customer/client needs - she has become a friend of mine during this process.

My Mother had a severe heart attack followed by open heart surgery earlier this summer. Once we got her home we engaged BrightStar Care of Howard County to stay with her. When Max and Kathy Dysland, his Director of Nursing, came to assess Mom and the house, I was very impressed with their professionalism as well as their compassion. Kathy was so good with Mom!Then Pop had to be hospitalized for nearly three weeks while Mom was convalescing at home, and we hired BrightStar to be with him and advocate for him while he was in the hospital (I am the eldest son and live in Atlanta; my younger brother is a cop outside Washington D.C., and it was hard for us to be there all the time).I would recommend BrightStar Care of Howard County to any of my friends and family. Their staff was very attentive, proficient, and nice. I cant say enough about how much peace of mind they brought my brother and I just knowing that care professionals were looking after our parents in their time of need.

I have had a PICC line and been on IV antibiotics since December 2018. BrightStar is responsible for providing a home health nurse to deal with my IV related issues. The company has been responsive in dealing with issues. But they are reliant on another company that supplies the antibiotics (who, in turn, must rely on the hospital physicians and/or pharmacist) for the overall directions of my care. So, while there have been a few missed connections (mostly minor) regarding my nursing care, it would be difficult to assign blame in any particular corner.Our BrightStar home health nurse, Sandi, has been nothing short of terrific. She has always been punctual, even on a snow day. She has encouraged us to communicate directly with her to coordinate visit times. She has gone the extra mile when a problem has arisen with the infusions, blood draws, or the PICC line, getting it remedied even when it took extra, unplanned time. She has shown me tips and methods to improve my care and to be self-sufficient that no other nurse has taken the time and trouble to share with me (and this is my fourth PICC line experience!). As a result, I am able to do all of my antibiotic infusions myself now instead of relying on my husband, which has made both of us much happier. We’ve been very fortunate to have such a capable and congenial nurse (she even likes dogs!). Thank you, Sandi.If rated strictly on Sandis performance, this review would be a 5.

Unbelievable staff who always care about the patients and clients needs. Whether its an emergency or a routine care visit, I can always count on Max to have a caring nurse available when needed. I highly recommend this team.

My wife Barb was in her last stage of hospice care and I needed someone to spend substantial time with her every day. I called Brightstar for help. Max Minevich, the President, and Andrea Engle, the Director of Nursing, came out the same day to get me started. They assigned Robin to come out the very next day to start helping Barb. Robin was absolutely terrific in the caring comfort she gave Barb every day. Barb was no longer eating anything but Robin found popsicles in our refrigerator which she was able to get Barb to taste. Barb loved them and they were definitely the highlight during her final days. Many thanks to Robin, Max and Andrea for helping Barb and I navigate her last days with us.

We needed a Private Duty caregiver to drive and attend to my mother, who suffers from dementia. She needed transport from her assisted living facility to our home so she could be present for her eldest grandsons wedding. She also needed assistance at the event as she has macular degeneration and has low vision. BrightStar stepped up marvelously. From my first phone call to meeting caregiver, Sirri, everything went flawlessly. Sirri was very friendly and took excellent care of mom throughout the event which took place outdoors in the heaviest rainfall ever recorded for that date! Sirri got mom home safe and sound. I am grateful to Max and his team at BrightStar for being there so we could enjoy mom at this occasion. I recommend them without reservation.

We have Tried other caregiver agencies, but by far Bright Star has sent us the best people, we have had excellent, extremely competent and friendly caregivers from Bright Star.
