Very disappointed in the school’s lack of communication and efforts. The skin program is an absolute joke. Very upset with how they handled my daughters admissions and the way they made her feel like she wasn’t getting the education she could have. Drive the extra miles and go to Merrell.

I have gotten a number of services over the years at Paul Mitchell The School. These are students who are learning but in many cases Ive felt the service was better than some Ive gotten at businesses with professional personnel. Services are good quality and value.

I have gone to the Paul Mitchell studio four times. 2 times through a Groupon coupon and 2 times without a coupon. Most of the times I had a phase 2 student do my hair and have been happy overall.The current front office (fall 2020) is not very professional, and rather rude.However, Chantele, who may be a supervisor, is AMAZING. Professional, listening to her student, and the customer, friendly and very knowledgeable. One time, I was not 100% excited with the result, and she and her student stayed longer (while everyone had left) to re-do part of the process.. This employee is exceptional & the company should take pride in having such employees.I would recommend Paul Mitchell for the good value for money and if they have students who are in phase 2, then it really is almost as going to a professional for 1/3 of the price. I would also consider getting the VIP card, since it can save you a ton of money if you fix your hair about 2 times a year.

Me & my two kiddos got haircuts today and they were an AMAZING crew!! They made my youngest (which is 3) feel like she was a princess and were so patient with her (as she cant ever sit still) and Cody did amazing on my haircut... And the price was really really cheap for 3 people... This will be my new and only spot from here on out

It is a beauty school. Students do hair coloring, cutting, and manicures and pedicures. In addition there are students who are interested in doing massages. The people are friendly and helpful. They had a senior citizen, discount, as well as days with discounts for doctors and nurses

The last two times Ive gotten my hair done Ive gone here and Andrea J. Works magic and I leave feeling fabulous! Very pleasant atmosphere! With tip I pay a fraction of what i would somewhere else and am completely satisfied when I leave.

I enjoyed every part of this experience! Simone did an awesome job on my hair! She was very pleasant and professional. I love that this place offers half price for students and that they do amazing work. Would not be able to go anywhere else and get the results for the price! Will definitely get my hair colored here from now on!

Do not waste your money here. If I could give zero stars I would. I understand the students here are training but they should already possess a professional demeanor. My friend went in for color, a summer brown with golden highlights. The stylist assigned to her didnt seem to know what she was doing. After putting in foils, and repeatedly asking how long they had been on, my friends hair turned pink. The stylist laughed at her. Pulled another stylist over who laughed at her and said Thats unfortunate and that stylists client laughed at her as well. The teacher attempted to fix it with a round of toner but that could not fix the overall splotchy and uneven color applied by the original stylist. If the students here are not professional or proficient enough to attempt the things the clients ask they should say so before someones hair gets wrecked. It gets better, my friend was asked to pay beforehand, which she did. She went back to the counter after everything and was told the credit card had already gone through, so she couldnt have her money back. The teacher said if my friend wanted to come back in a couple weeks it would be fixed for free, but would you go back after such an experience? I certainly wouldnt.

Had a friend have a dye and cut done. Scheduled it in advanced. Got to the appointment and they told my friend they didn’t have time to do what they wanted. I don’t blame this place. But the dye job went great! Took two people to dye her hair though? Why rush? Then the hair cut. Oh my gosh!! I felt sorry for her! My friend..not the person cutting my friends hair. Kept talking about her personal life. Her hair was wrecked! I’m not a professional by any means but omg! There was a long, long strand left in front! Not part of the “style” at all. Then, let’s talk about the chunk taken from the bottom “layer.” We took photos so it’s not like we’re making this stuff up. If this girl who cut her hair is about to graduate, I’d reconsider. Luckily, I rescued my friend from her terrible cut. I get that these people are students, and also, when you’ve heard stories about your hairstylist, including about her boyfriend, you’d tell them your hair is fine before leaving too, just so you can run out and not have to feel pushed out of the business. Bottom line, if it’s too good to be true, it is.

They dont do pedicures anymore? Probably wont be back for other services either. Thanks for the response, however you need to educate your reception people. I called on 4/9 between 10-10:30am I said I would like a pedicure appointment for that afternoon....her response was we no longer do pedicures she did not say we do not have any openings today or offer an appointment for another day. I still will not be back.

I feel like this place is hit or miss. I just left from a pedicure and it was not good. I soaked my feet, the lady took the old polish off, filed my toenails.. she looked at me and was done. I had to ask for lotion, she pumped it in my hands and I put lotion on my own feet. She did not massage my feet or use hot towels. I pretty much got a nail polish removal and file. Not worth the $15.00 at all.

I most definitely owe a lot of my success to the tools this school gave me! They teach you how to be successful behind the chair and not just how to pass tests to get your license. If you put the work in, they will give you the steps to get anywhere you want to be! Love PMTScomo!

I have been getting cuts and colors from the school for years now. Every time, I leave happy. The stylists are learning, but their instructors are very attentive and will even take over when necessary to ensure you get the best results. I will keep going back! (P.s. they have a great deal on Groupon)

I started hair school when Paul Mitchell first took over. Eddie and Macie always made me feel like family. I ended up having to drop before I was finished. If it werent for Eddie and macie talking me into coming back and being behind me 1000% of the way I wouldnt be where I am today. The teachers are amazing and so is the atmosphere. Its my home away from home and Im honored to be a Paul Mitchell Missouri Columbia alumni ☺️☺️☺️

I really wish Id have remembered the girls name that did my hair, its not an easy task! Thick and mid length, she did an AMAZING JOB!!! Id like to thank her, she took time and never made me feel like she was in a hurry (although it took almost 3h to do everything I requested, because I had alot done, not because she was uneffeciant). I gladly tipped $10 but really wish Id have had a $20 in my pocket to tip instead! Thank you, for the great experience!

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! I wouldnt be the stylist I am today if it wasnt for the owner and instructors, that saw my vision and did all they could to make sure I fufilled it. Not only did they help me fight through the rough times and to fufill my dreams, they became family and always show love. Love you family.

Have called twice to try and schedule services and both times was placed on hold for more than 10 minutes and ended up hanging up. Today it was 13 minutes before I hung up because no one had returned to the phone. Offer to take a number and call someone back. Dont just place them on hold and forget about them!

I would give PMTS 5, The staff here are great and respectful. They are right there every step of the way guiding the students while providing excellent hospitality to each guest that walks into the school. I have always received the best services from here. I started at this school when it very first opened. I have watched the school and even the staff grow. I had been thinking about going to cosmetology school but i was not 100% sure. Out of the blue I made an appointment to go on a tour the school, right away I knew I made the right choice when I walked into this school. After the tour I enrolled into school. The staff here at PMTS is AMAZING!! I became so close to each of them. Even in my hardest times here at PMTS they instructors were caring and trying to help me figure out how I could stay in school. I ended up taking a leave and came back. Eddie and the staff welcomed me back, and helped me finish my schooling. I have always received the best service when I walk into the school, no matter if it was a services I was receiving or going in to talk to the instructors.

My first time visiting and it was absolutely horrible! i’m normally super quiet and wouldn’t complain, but everything here was awful. i asked for a light brown color on my hair and they dyed my hair BLACK. i left with hair dye stains all over my head and i can still feel shampoo in my hair that wasn’t washed out. also, my roots didn’t get touched, so i have a weird look to my hair. i could have done better box dying my hair at home! no teacher ever came to check on us or to ask how i felt about my hair, and i didn’t want to hurt the girl’s feelings. it was her first dye, she told me, so i’m surprised no one was there to make sure exactly this didn’t happen. i’m super disappointed all around.

I just got the absolute worst manicure Ive EVER had! I know its only $10 but damn...my 5 year old lol boy could have done a better job. Im more mad @ myself for paying for it though then anything! #nevergoingback

Went twice and paid a total of $105 (counting what I paid for a Groupon) and not the 2 students that did my hair neither the 2 instructors that supervised were able to do to my hair what I asked for. After the second mess up, I went in and spoke to who I believe is the director of the cosmetology program; without even mentioning the word and after trying to make sense she immediately said because they are a school they are not authorise to issue refunds of any kind. I bet the owner can perfectly start a refund with no problems. I dont think their system is blocked for that type of transactions. Wont recommend nor will ever go back. I will just consider my money stolen and move on. I understand it is a school and I signed a waiver but when 2 leading professionals are supervising the student and AGREED and APPROVED her work at least something should come out right. They did not try to make it right the second time since I was charged for that second visit too and once again the instructor supervised and approved something that I did not request. Some of these students are graduating in 2 months! I was a beauty school student once and I know schools can process refunds. If at least they would accept their mistake and offer a partial refund I wont be this upset. All I asked for was 10 red highlights and nobody had a clue during the process and once they saw the final result. She tried to blame my hair if it was too dry, a student blamed my shampoo, then an instructor tried to tell me I could not get my hair this bright because they cannot lift my natural dark hair color, etc. Lesson learned the very hard way. Now I have to save up about the same amount of money and go to real salon that knows what they are doing so I can have decent hair when I show up at my family reunion.

Asked for a color and cut, simple, straight across the back with bangs, showed them a picture first. They said they could do it, then part way through they say because I used box color on my hair they couldnt achieve the color I asked for, and they could only do a shade darker or my hair would fall out. Then they say I need to pay $30 extra since they needed more bowls of product then they initally estimated. After paying extra for a different color then we initially agreed to since they misjudged their own abilities, I get home and noticed a large area near the back of my head that is lighter by two shades then the reat of my head, actually nearly what I had asked for, and two chunks of hair that are longer than the rest. So in the end I paid extra for patchy coloration and a crooked cut!

I went in there today 11/19/15 to get some color added to my pixie cut. I already had some residual color from a box dye kit from months ago and I told them (and showed them over 20 pictures of) what I wanted, asked if it was possible and they said it was. Fast forward 3 hours later, and my hair is ruined! I asked for an ombre, balayage effect and instead i got a spunk, 80s strippy dye job. Also my hair is fried, like breaking off!!, after color most (professional) salons do an intense deep treatment under the dryer for a few minutes, they did not. The girl doing my hair (poor girl she was clearly out of her depths here) couldnt even style or cut my hair. I have a pixie cut, and she styled (and cut!!!! oh gawd did she cut!!) it into a weird mushroom shape. She didnt even ask me how I normally style my hair, or how I want it styled like most salons do, she just went ahead and did whatever. Then afterwards apologized with the lame excuse I didnt know how you style your hair. Honey please ask, ask your clients how they want their hair styled. I just trusted the fact that she knew what she was doing, or that her teacher would come over. My mistake, its clearly the blind leading the blind here. Thank the Lord it is fall and I can get away with wearing beanies. I will probably have to cut ALL my hair off. I also ended up paying about 60$ including a tip (I left a tip because I was too polite to be honest) for a disaster. Ive had bad salon experiences but this was by far the worst. It was supposed to be a birthday treat for myself, tragic!
