Im here on vacation visiting my mom and decided to go for a spontaneous haircut. Everyone was really nice and it was a clean, professional environment. My hair was so smooth and frizz-free after my silk press and cut. I loved it and Ill come back any time Im in town.

Cute studio located in the heart of downtown Columbia. Competitive prices were not bad considering location. Appointment was @ 11 and did arrive 7 minutes late due to parking. Young man with dreads at the front desk was courteous upon my arrival and ended up completing my shampoo. It was a great experience. My haircut was completed by Tia. Super sweet personality and seasoned stylist who knows what she’s doing. 4 stars because she was obviously overbooked. I understand salons and realize they usually do come with a wait. However, I felt she was a little rushed. Haircut still came out great and that’s how I know she’s great at what she does. The long wait times and loss of personal connection with your stylist are why I’m rating a 4. Lovely place tho, and will be back. And ALSO, for my women of color with curly hair, this is a SAFE spot! IF YOU HAVE NATURAL HAIR DONT GO HERE. The combing and detangling was done with a small toothed brush and was not Pleasant. Booking my appointment I asked if the stylist would be able to do a halo braid and I was assured that that was the style that I would receive. See picture attached. She said that she was not able to do a tight braid I wish I had known that before and I would’ve canceled my appointment. Very expensive for the “style” received. Do not recommend.

I had an appointment at Carolina’s a few weeks ago and I had a great experience! I was running a little late and they waited on me! On top it f that, I had a great experience. I am out of town and getting your colored by someone other than your regular hairdresser can be risky. I gave Caroline a chance, and I loved it! She covered my grays and gave me advice for my next hair appointment. Before I left? I made my follow-on appointment! I will request a trim and another root touch-up! Living in So Fl had the same hair stylist for about 25 years but when I moved to Columbia, SC I didn’t realize it would be so difficult to find someone who could be completely understand cutting curly hair. I have visited 3 different Hair salons and tried 7 different people on to have to go back to S. Florida twice to get it fixed. They never understood what my needs were and even explaining- nothing worked. This was so frustrating so I decided to read All the reviews on this particular hair salon, as I do for all salon, and gave it a try. With little to no words, Tia was able to accomplish all my needs and cut my hair identical to my old hair stylist. I have not been this happy in a very long time. Thank You Tia. You did great! I was satisfied with my first visit and wanted to come back. I was told If I referred someone then I get a discount my next appointment, (it’s the holidays so I was looking forward to saving a little money but also looking nice for New Years) in doing so I paid for my mom to get her hair done for her birthday. (My reference) I did that so I could get my hair done before January. Hairdresser told me to come back in about two months which is what I did. I call to book an appointment but I’m told they are no longer doing discounts. I understand Covid but the fact that they already gained an extra customer because of me and they can’t honor what they had told me is the issue for me. I held up my end you guys get an extra customer but can’t take off $20? I wouldn’t have sent a reference let alone get pay for an entire other appointment if they couldn’t up hold there end. It honestly feels like I was scammed out of my money. Will not be returning.

Zero stars is more appropriate.I came in for a trim on my natural hair and as soon as i walked in she looked at my hair and blew her breath as if me coming in and paying almost 100 dollars for a trim was too much for her. isnt she suppose to be a professional? if you cant/dont want to do all types of hair- DONT ADVERTISE THAT YOU DO.I wanted to support a black-owned business but in the middle of doing my trim a white guy walks in and she immediately stops doing my hair to give him a whole haircut while i had to wait with my head half done. i respected her time but she didnt respect mine. Constantly stopping in between my hair trim to answer the phone, to eat or to do something else is a bad first impression.Its very hard for me to just trust anyone with my hair and she isnt it. If you have natural hair and you value it - dont come here because the owner wont.A waste of time and money. NEVER going back.

I have NEVER been charged this much! Cut and color turned into $300 at check out. I like the hair, but wow.... I have straight latina hair, and went to brown. Not blonde, brown, and I was there for about three and a half hours. Stylist was good, but a little heavy handed. There are pros and cons, but the worst thing was the price.

I decided to look at the reviews before choosing a quality salon to get my hair cut. After seeing all of the negative reviews and the HORRIBLE AND DEFENSIVE responses from the owner....I will NEVER come to this salon! Taking constructive criticism is part of running a successful business. If you have no respect for your dissatisfied patrons, what makes you think people reading your responses will want to patronize your salon! This salon owner needs to take a lesson in proper business etiquette. What a shame!

I was a first time customer and a walk in on a Saturday wanting a pedicure and was taken back to a chair almost immediately. Obie, the pedicurist, was very nice and professional. I told her I wanted a basic pedicure and she didnt try to push any other services on me. She was meticulous and thorough without being slow and was very friendly throughout the whole service. Im not the type of person who enjoys the small talk that is sometimes expected during these types of services but luckily I didnt experience that because she just concentrated on her work and whatever conversation we did have was perfectly natural. The pedicure itself was great and there was actually more included in their basic package than other places put in their deluxe package that usually cost much more. I highly recommend this studio, and Obie, and will definitely be back.

I have been here various times for a while now, and let me tell you that Karies services are amazing. She was in charge of taking care of me during my first appointment, and she was absolutely amazing. I have requested her ever since with all of my appointments. This last visit, I actually did a walk in and they fit me right in. There is always fun conversations, and I am amazing at the quality of the service. The looks, and feel I walk away with leave me feeling better than I did before I walked in. Everytime guaranteed. She is very patient and does everything exactly the way you want it.

Wow really disappointed! So I called before I came and asked for a blow out and a hair cut. I was quoted $60 over the phone and asked to make it by 2:15. When I arrive Tia greets me and proceeds to shampoo my hair. I am natural ad I drscribed over the phone. Tia rips a “detangling brush” through my head. I told her thats going to break off my hair. She tells me my hair is matted and that she’s not taking my hair out. She then goes to show me all my hair that shr snatched out with her brush. Half way into it she tells me its a fee for my length (its barely to my shoulders) and a fee for detangling it (doesnt mention how much) i told her i did not know how I wanted my hair cut but after she straightens it we can figure it out. She stops in thr middle of ripping my hair to cut another client’s hair and offers her a 10% discount (but I didnt get one And I had to wait on with wet hair. She comes back. Straightens my hair and is burning it. You can smell my hair burning. I am afraid a lot of my natural curl pattern will be damaged. She also begins cutting my hair and then explains how she’s cutting it when we didnt discuss what cut I wanted or if I decided to get one. We then get to rhe register and proceed and Breona tells me my (now above shoulder length hair) Is $140 wow. On the website it says blowout 45-60 Dollars. She then charges me an additional $20 saying it was for length (is not the length included if you’re charging me MAXIMUM price? Nope she says and plus another $25 claiming that was a detangling service. So $60, $20, $25 and then says its $35 for the cut. So I mention over the phone I described a blow out and hair cut and was told $60. Breona admits this was true. Tia tells Breona while I am right there that she is NOT erong and she will just take this “L” (lost) as a stylist because she slaved two hours (mind you she stopped in the middle of my hair for another client. I told her I did not do well with conflict and that I live in New York City and never in my life paid more than $50 for a standard blow out. She claimed the maximum amount was charged because she’s a senior more talented stylist and it mentions it on the website. I had a screenshot and showed her how it ONLY mentions the price 45-60 and nothing else. Tia is unprofessional. She burned my hair multiple times while on the phone. I had to find something last minute for a funeral for my hair and she ruined my experience. I am hoping my natural hair is not demage. Plus I alreadybhad whiplass from a workout class and she was just ripping my hair out and then later proceeds to ask of she’s hurting me as if it’s not obvious. Biggest scam ever! $140 for a simple blow out cut (that I still never asked for) I need to speak to a manager. As a New Yorker with years of hospitality experience I would get rid of Tia. She is janky, rude and disrespectful. Basically telling Breona in front of me she did no wrong snd that Tia herself did no wrong. So who’s wrong here? Its so bad I wanted to tell every woman I ran into to NEVER go there. My boyfriend said he could smell the burntness of my hair from across the room. Really disappointed especially after disclosing my personal lost of a family member and needing this service. Really really extremely disappointed. This is my first review snd I hate it had to be like this but others must be warned. Tia is black and made me feel ashamed of my natural hair. ALSO SHE BURNED MY HAIR ON 455 hair burns at 450 and it is recommended not to pass 420. I took a picture of her flat iron to purchase it and after looking at it I see she was burning my hair. The young lady who answered the phone was very helpful as she was able to work it out for me to come in for a same day appointment. Aliyah did a beautiful job on my braids today! My scalp and hair feel very moisturized and alive. Thank you ladies.

Great appointment; I came in for tape in extensions by Tia, and left happy and feeling beautiful. She was able to match my natural hair to the extensions almost perfectly. The process was easy and I was in and out within 4 hours (color processing and 150g extensions install with a trim).☆The only negative aspect was the weight of the tape ins were too heavy for the amount of hair that was selected to be sandwiched in. There was too much tension and I went in for her to check them but it was assumed I just had to get used to the extensions. I trusted my stylist because why would I have reason not to? This could have been due to a lack of experience applying tape ins to fine hair, or general oversight. Either way, it caused a lot of red bumps on my scalp and I had to remove the extensions. (Within two weeks). It took about a month for the bumps to go away and I cant say Id try tape ins again.I did like the place and the people, but I would not go back for extensions based on my experience. For coloring, YES, Tia did a fantastic job on my color.

Tia truly cares about your hair health - and as her sign says “just because you have a bad day doesn’t mean your hair has to”. If I could give one less star I would!!! Horrible customer service and experience! As soon as I walked in and noticed only one salon station being used I should have walked out. If Tia wasnt on the phone, she was gossiping with her front desk staff or ignoring me her customer. The service had me almost in tears before I left. . My appointment was with Cindy . From start to finish she was extremely patient with me. I had a consultation and color service and my hair turned out PERFECT I also had one of my older wig units cut into a style. The owner Tia was very friendly and helpful. Shop is super clean. I was in and out in no time didnt have to spend ALL DAY in the shop. Will be back** EditSo unfortunately I need to update this review. About a month later I returned to the shop all my hair had broken off. The owner was very apologetic and confirmed that the coloring was done incorrectly and the stylist was no longer with the salon. I had the rest of the Damaged hair cut off and received a nice rod set. My childs father took my two older daughters in for a blow out. While my oldest hair was fine, my youngest ( with the thicker hair) hair was severely burnt and singed ruining the curl pattern . So ill say this. The shop is nice, the owner is wonderful and skilled, i think she gets some bad apples who dont know what they are doing so just be mindful of who does your hair

This place is amazing. They transformed me in a 2hour visit and should I say it was on Sunday. The atmosphere is also on point. If youre looking for amazing place to take care all of your hair needs this is the place.

Tia and her staff are awesome! The salon is super comfortable, with a hip & trendy atmosphere. Lots of exposed brick and cool art on the walls, located right in the middle of downtown on Main St. so its easy to find. All the products you could ever need. Me, my wife and daughter have all sat in Tias chair and she is just the best. Highly recommend!

Carolina hair studios is owned by a very beautiful human being inside and out. The salon is very neat, clean, and professional. Tia, the Owner is a Master of hair, I have personally seen her cut hair of just about every culture/nationality. So she does it all and works majic on Any head for whatever the need is. Master hair magician.

I scheduled an appointment after reading the reviews and for the great prices. My hair was completely dry with endless split ends. Tia gave me pointers the whole time about how to properly care for my hair away from the salon. I highly recommend this place as a regular hair salon or if you are just in the area like I was.

I went in for a blow out, a deep shampoo, and a trim. Lavin was my stylist and a she did a fantastic job! She knew what she was doing and what I wanted. The only thing was that it did take an hour longer than I anticipated, but that may have been due to my thick curly hair. I would HIGHLY recommend coming here though!

Great service all the way around

I’ve been here a couple of times in the past and was usually satisfied with the results. This last visit had me disappointed, unfortunately. Staff is always extremely nice. I got a deep condition, style, and trim for $95. This was incredibly overpriced for mediocre results. I asked for loose curls and the stylist didn’t do a bad job but it was something I was definitely capable of doing myself. When I go to a salon on Main Street I’m expecting “salon style” hair. After 20 minutes of walking out of the salon, my hair was so frizzy :( I guess I was expecting much more after spending 4 hours there. I don’t think I’ll come back.

CHELSEA doesTHE BEST EYELASH EXTENSIONS! I have never had eyelash extensions before I went to her because I feared they might look too fake or they would irritate my eyes. But what Chelsea has given me is absolutely beautiful and so natural! But its not like theres nothing there either, they look bold and like my natural lashes are just that dark and stunning! They are so easy to maintain too, not heavy and they stay looking great weeks after with proper (easy) care. And Chelsea is seriously the sweetest! Shes gentle when putting on the lashes and she keeps you updated through the process. I wish I could give 6 stars!! Cant wait to go back for my fill in.

I got my hair done here not even a week ago, I am very dissatisfied with the results. My highlights prior to getting highlights at this salon were a white ash blonde, I wanted a touch up at my roots. My hair is orange at my roots the color doesnt blend at all. I feel like the stylist didnt give my hair time to process.. now I have to pay to get my hair fixed.

Would never recommend this place ever. The stylist was in such a hurry that she didnot even have the patience to listen to what style i wanted. She just started cutting without even a hair wash. When I asked for hairwash, she was so rough with my hair like she was letting out all the frustrations she has ever had. After the wash, she just started randomly chopping my hair, she wasnt even paying attention to my hair, just random and and in such a hurried manner.. i had to remind for blowdry as well which was again done in a hurry and with least bit of interest. This place messed with my hair and now i look like a joke with no option but to wait for my hair to grow back. I am truly embarrassed. The worst part is how they charged me $80 which is ridiculously overpriced for the results and the service i got.I have never left a negative comment on any place before, i usually just let it go. But this place provided extremely unprofessional service making me a laughing stock in front of everyone I had known. Please remember its peoples look you are dealing with, please be mindful of that.

Overall was a pretty good experience! My only issue was that it was told on the phone that on Mondays haircuts were 15 dollars. I also got an awapuhi treatment, so my hair was still really wet after she had finished the cut. Once she was done with the trim she said that the Monday services are “a la carte” so if i wanted my hair to be dried it would cost me the 30 dollar price. I didn’t mind paying it, I just think it may be better to make sure it’s advertised as such. Personally I don’t think it’s easy to tell whether or not the service was done well if my hair is still wet, so I sort of felt obligated to pay the extra money in order to see how it looked. So great cut, just wish I would have known the actual cost upfront.

I had an appointment with Tia three times at this salon. I will not go there again. The 1st time Tia got my toner right (even though the toner was pretty grey at first). It washed out so I was happy. The 2nd time they lost my information and didn’t know what kind of toner I had last time. I heard their conversation. I ended up with a beige blonde. I never asked for a heavy beige blonde. I always bring pictures but Tia got annoyed by my requests and questions. Sometimes she is super nice, the other minute she is annoyed.I was there two days ago and I will not go back there again. I showed Tia a picture of my first visit. I told her that I want that shade of blonde. Pointing out the beige from last time was too heavy. I told her about 30 times that I do not want to be white blonde. I also told her that I don’t need to get any lighter. I came home whith WHITE hair. I am so upset. Tia knows she is the professional and she was annoyed by my questions. Now I have to pay more money to get it fixed.

If I could give less than one star I would! I never fill out reviews but be warned, do not waste your money here!!! They have no idea what they are doing. I asked for a blonde ombre with my brown roots. She bleached my roots and then colored them. I ended up with light roots dark middle and orange ends!

I have been researching for months now on the best eyelash place that does uses the best technique and i finally found one! I was so afraid that i was going to come out looking like a fake barbie doll. But it was thr complete opposite me and sister both had the intro set of lashes done by TIA!!! She had a great personality and was quick and did a wonderdul job! She talked me through thr whole way while my sister slept and snored through it all she didnt mind either lol i feel so amazing have such long full and dark lashes NO MAKEUP NEEDED!
