The Adult Day Connection is a life-saver for those of us with loved-ones who cant be left alone all day. The staff treat each client like as guest, or maybe more like a beloved grandparent or friend.The Adult Day Connection is not a babysitting service! It is a professionally planned experience each day. Lunch and snacks are served each day, and a full day of activity is provided. Exercise, current events discussions, trivial pursuit and socialization are part of every day!For those with the ability and the energy to stay at it all day, there is always something to do. For those with limited stamina, there are areas to rest and relax.Students from the school of Health Related Sciences at the University of Missouri volunteer in this program. There are students from Physical Therapy, Speach Therapy, and Occupational Therapy who are there a semester at a time. The students engage the clients as if they were old friends. They are good listeners and are willing to share their lives with the clients.The professional staff of social worker, nurses, activity director, aids and business manager all who work together to engage and care for clients while keeping them safe and healthy.The Adult Day Connection has been around for 30 years, and may be Columbias best kept secret.
