A mess. Their insurance coverage is terrible. A large college with a massive military presence. Would make sense for them to take military insurance like Tricare right? They don’t. Want a doctor? Expect to wait a few days. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

I visited Beutel a lot during my time at A&M and am very thankful for how much they helped me. They were very helpful with any questions I had at the front desk or over the phone, and it was a great resource for me as a military dependent because I had no assigned physician in College Station. One time I had to do a walk-in because I had been severely dizzy for a few days and was unable to walk or see properly, and when I told them what my symptoms were they took it very seriously and actually moved my name to the top of the waiting list and took me into a room to be seen very quickly. I also had great experiences at the womens clinic and always felt it was a comfortable and nonjudgmental space. There were a couple physicians I saw that I didnt like quite as much as others (like Ive found in most medical care) but I had positive experiences 90% of the time.

The doctor was rude and condescending. He spent the entire time talking down to me. He assumed that I was incapable of understanding human biology, when in fact, I am getting an advanced degree in it. He didnt even want to run tests. I had to force him to run tests which came back positive, and resulted in a diagnosis!

Ive been using Beutal for 3 years now, and it has always been a great experience! This is where Ive been getting my anti-depressants and anxiety medicine from, so if youre looking for a way to get them during college this is a great spot! Megan Cullers is spectacular and the whole team under Tiffany Skaggs does great work.

My experience with student health has been really great so far! I have used Beutel for 2 years now. I always see Dr. Skaggs for my annual check ups and any visits. She is very knowledgeable and the kindest doctor I have met in my life. She went out of her way to care for me and to make I am getting the treatment I needed. I was nervous about certain visits and she put me right at ease and made me feel really comfortable.I am also amazed by the number of services Beutel offers and how much of it is covered by our student health insurance. Their services range from performing comprehensive metabolic and lipid panels, urine analysis, TSH, vitamin checks to ECGs, X-rays, and ultrasounds! Additionally, the pharmacy at Beutel has medications at very affordable prices compared to our local pharmacies. I highly recommend using student health, especially if you have the student health insurance!

This is a teaching and research center as well as a health clinic so you need to be aware of that going in. Its not a doc-in-the-box urgent care to get quick diagnosis and meds, though I was able to on my last visit. The staff is professional and truly does care about their patients.

I went for a finger injury. I was told they couldnt do anything because it wasnt broken. I had to ask them for a splint. 4 months later it still hurts and now I might need surgery which 100% would have been prevented if it was treated correctly in the first place.

I had been having night sweats, extreme body aches and chills with a consistent cough. After checking in, I waited 45 minutes in the waiting room shivering and then went back to the front to ask what was wrong and the lady I had checked in with had said she got sidetracked and didn’t check me in. After finally seeing a doctor, they said they thought it was Mono so they did a blood test and said my white blood cells were high but they were sure I just had a small bug and that I should stay hydrated and rest. Left with no prescription or diagnosis. “Small bug”. I honestly felt like I was dying, I have had mono once and the flu a few times, and this was the worse sickness I’ve ever had. Later that night it got unbearable and I went to the ER and after an hour they did a CTscan of my lungs and found I had pneumonia. I lost 15 pounds in a week and a half. A “small bug”. Will never forget.

If you have the university student health insurance, this place will be the best shot for you for your lab works and exams for free. Dr. Ponder, she is great however usually her schedule booked. If you are prescribed an expensive pill, also the pharmacy inside will be the cheapest with university insurance.

I came to Beutel for allergy shots. The people at the preventative medicine center are very nice and helpful. The one time I saw a doctor there, it was to check up on my recovery from an illness. They just kinda gave me a pat on the back and said I was fine.I REALLY wish at least part of the health center stayed open 24/7, because one night I developed an ear infection the day before a test and needed care fast so I could get as much sleep as possible. Since Beutel (the only on-campus clinic) was closed at that time, I had to call an Uber and go to the edge of College Station for care. By the time a doctor finally seen me, the infection had gotten worse and I was in extreme pain and needed multiple painkillers (AND I didn’t get back to my dorm until almost 6 am, when I had left at 2 am). I could’ve saved a lot of time and avoided a lot of pain if Beutel had been open at that time, as I could’ve ridden my bike over, get urgent care where they gave me painkillers and antibiotics, and gone back to my dorm to sleep, all within an hour or two.Other than the hours, this place seems fine. It’s not an outstanding clinic, but it’s not an unhelpful mess like some of the other reviews say either.

Why am I being charged $15-30 to get copies of MY medical records?? I already paid at the time of service and now Im expected to pay a second time? Im so tired of A&Ms penny-pinching.

This place is pretty much bs. I’ve been here for 4 years and every time I go, some more bs slaps me in the face. If this wasn’t almost free by A&M they wouldn’t stay in business for more than one or two patients.Be prepared for them to have no clue what’s going on and just give you 5 prescriptions in the hope that one works.

The nurse who checked me in kept interrupting me when I tried telling her my issue. The doctor was annoyed that I didn’t go see a specialist (I’m also a freshman and don’t know where anything is or what to even do in my situation), his tone of voice to me and horrible, he was annoyed that I didn’t go to see a doctor sooner, and he also was interrupting me. Not to mention he gave me a prescription and didn’t tell me where to go to get it, just shoved me out of the door basically. Absolutely terrible experience. I came home and cried. I am never going back.
