Tamu will milk you out for money, but the facility is decent.

What’s open is decently well kept but a lot of the gym is closed or has had equipment break and instead of replacing it they just close it off. The punching bags around the rec are a great example of this.

It is a huge gym. The swimming pools are very nice and I am definitely gonna miss it after I graduate. They also have all types of equipment that will serve you well. They also have a teach on the 3rd floor. Enjoy your workout. It got Smoothie and ATM as well. In addition to free lockers. Its a World class gymnastics.

Love going here. They have good facilities and a lot of equipment. Lots of different sports you can try out from rock climbing to swimming in one of their 5 pools/ 2 hot tubs. A very well equipped gym and a smoothie king right outside. I see reduced Covid 19 protocols being followed now but other than that it is the best. They charge for some of their equipment

The Rec is one of the best facilities on the A&M campus. It is an all-in-one package, and has something to offer for everyone; climbing wall, running track, strength and conditioning, an Olympic-size pool, courts and a lot more. And everything is amazing in terms of quality, and is well-kept. In overall, it is an amazing place for recreation, sports and fitness.

Love this place. Pretty crowded, but their indoor track is amazing. Complete with 4 lanes for different speeds, it’s a great way to walk and cool down or go for a run. I haven’t tried out the classes yet, because of the price and the commitment, but I’ve worked out here a few times. I’m always doing cardio here.

Update 1/23/2019. For the past two months, there are 6 badminton courts on two fixed courts. This is exactly we badminton players want. Appreciate it.update 11/27/2018. It seems that the situation getter better. They try to fix the badminton court locations.10/1/2018 Very bad service. The facility might be good. But badminton courted are always moved here and there. No respect.

Ma
Review №26

Maybe ok for students but the worse for families. The only pool that can be used by children is closed most of the time in the weekend. The time slot for babies class is during nap time and the water is way too cold...When they do happen... You have to pay extra for classes and most of the time there are only a few lines opened for the public and the jacuzzi are closed. I have been in other universities facilities and families always felt welcome. Here were definitely not.

The staff is a huge pain, they will come up to you for something as small as having your bench positioned incorrectly and make you stop your workout to fix it. They play the music incredibly too loud even though everyone in the establishment is clearly listening to music in their headphones . Overcrowded .

A great spot to work out, play games with friends, or just hang out. A bit expensive if you arent a TAMU student, but if you are, definitely take advantage of it while you can, because you wont be able to forever. They have weight equipment, rock climbing areas, basketball courts, volleyball and beach volleyball courts, an indoor track, ping pong tables, and plenty more.

Texas a&m is many things, one of those things is having an extremely well put together and carefully planned recreation center for its.this entry was posted to the state games of Texas two years in a row and I find myself reminiscing of my time here at A&M.

Edit: the music is still too dam loud. Better have noise cancellation headphones or itll be way too loud. Always packed. The weight room is one third weights, a third cardio and a third stretching out place with artificial grass. If they made it a real weight room, there wouldnt be an issue of it being packed all the time everyday.

I love coming here to workout. Its a much better vibe than any off campus gym. You can play just about any indoor sport here. They have jacuzzis, lap pool, swimming lessons, and a dive pool. Rock climbing, weight room, cardio machines, and open space to do whatever you like. Cant beat it.

This place sucks. I regularly get a guest pass here to play basketball. Today I arrived at 6:30 pm to play. I played one game and finished around 7 o’clock. After that game was over they came on the pa and announced the rec was closing at 8 (this was posted minimally throughout the facility). I asked for my $10 to be refunded and was denied because I played one game and “used their facility”. I may never return again. I suggest finding somewhere else if you are a non student. As if Texas a&m doesn’t have the money to refund someone $10. A terrible terrible experience. Go longhorns lol.

Can get pretty full sometimes but I think that people finally realizing that new years resolutions are bs has improved wait times drastically. The addition of turf was a bad idea. How am I supposed to plank or wall sit when my feet are slipping on it? And what is going to happen when it has been covered in sweat by millions of ab workouts? The pull up bars between the squat racks are annoyingly high to jump to on leg days were you go ham, but that is just a short people problem.

Ja
Review №61

Today the gym was busy like always and people were using the benches, with towels and water bottles on them to save their spots while they were doing standing exercises. So I took barbells onto the turn to use a bose ball as an equivalent to a bench. On my second set someone came to me to tell me I can’t do that because other people at the benches need to use the barbells. So, you’re okay with people not allowing others to use benches but you’re not okay with me moving the weights a few steps away? I’ve never been to a gym where they tell you not to use weights where weights are present.

Whether you enjoy waiting in its famously long squat rack lines or staring longingly at the menagerie of broken equipment signs, there’s something for everyone to do at the Rec center. After a 54 million dollar expansion that clocked in at 16 months behind schedule, the Rec center now boasts 1 bench press for every 3,750 Aggies.
