Great doctors and staff. Got me walking and moving again after fixing some spinal issues. Even took the time and care to line up my tattoo when they closed the incision. Can barely tell that I had surgery unless you look closely. Aftercare and followups were great.

I saw Dr. Tim Kenney. He was awesome! Very friendly. Took the time to ask questions & explain everything that was going on & his plans for next steps in treatment. Highly recommend Dr. Kenney!!

My appointment started right on time with Dr. Shumway. He was attentive, efficient, and didn’t cause excessive pain while giving me a steroid shot. 👍

Iowa Ortho has helped me through several parts of my body and still helping me they give their all and they try everything they can to make it easier for you I would give him five stars even though they caused a lot of pain during surgery but they were there and did great jobs

Great experience! From front desk staff to doctor and assistant! Everyone was very friendly and really listened to me. Great at explaining things to me in terms I could easily understand and telling me what to expect in the future.Really eased my anxiety.

Dr. Shun way does not mess around and I appreciate that. He always very friendly and takes some time to listen. That is a fine quality. The admin folks have always been top notch as well. I have never read a bad experience at Iowa Ortho.

Very happy with Dr Ashs assessment of my sore shoulder and upper right arm. He ruled out a rotary cuff issue with xrays and physical testing and agreed with my plan to resume water aerobics classes as physical therapy with another provider did not help. And also gave me a very helpful brochure with simple stretching exercises I can do at home.

I didnt feel like the doctor cared about my hand or my needs. Just got a cortisone shot and was told to come back in four weeks. I am hoping to have a better experience then.

Iowa Ortho is top notch! My knee replacement has been a very positive experience every step of the way. Dr. Mahoney and Casey and their Joint Camp Team took very good care of me before, during and after surgery! Great news....I went for a walk today with no pain! 🎉

My experience with Iowa Ortho was very good from start to finish. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The Doctor was very nice, and listened to my problems, I could tell he looked at my mri and Ex ray results with sincere interest and explained my options to try and get me better. Dr. Rosenthal has been completely fantastic to work with. He didnt just do my back procedure and treat me like just a number. He took the time to understand my pain issues, knowing that my body is not the same as everyone elses. I also appreciate the pictures that he took of my surgery. Highly recommended!

I feel like I actually got some kind of answers after dealing with the VA for so long. Honestly though, Dr Ash was pretty rude. I tried to talk and ask questions when we was talking to me about my issues and he wouldn’t stop talking.. just continued to talk over me. When he did ask me questions and I would respond, I couldn’t even finish my sentence before he started to talk again. I completely forgot all the info he had gave me because I was so frustrated. If that’s not rude, I’m not sure what is. Sorry, I wont be using Dr Ash again!

I loved Dr. Kurt Smith :) He was very sweet and gentle and explained what he was doing during the EMG testing, and whether there was going to be any pain while doing it. He also spent the time talking to me and getting to know more about my case, that to me is huge, because some Doctors just do the job and not say anything, then kick you out the door.

So my daughter had gotten a referral here by her doctor, and I had scheduled an appointment TWO weeks ahead of time. So I never experienced the actual doctors themselves. The young lady on the phone called me TWO days before her appointment and said the doctor that SHE scheduled me with doesnt look/diagnose the concern we have.. So Im wondering WHY did I get scheduled with him if that is the case?! I had looked at the reviews on google already and have read some negative about the doctor she was going to see and was going to bypass them and experience the place for myself. Mind you I already live 30 minutes away AND took off work. Make sure you ask any and EVERY question possible when communicating with these people on the phone!

I saw Dr Shumway on Friday 10/11/19 for extreme hand pain. The treatment he used was amazing. He said it could take 3-4 days before I would really notice an improvement but within 3-4 hours I was already feeling better. Great job Dr Shumway! Highly recommend Dr Shumway at IA Ortho for hand to elbow issues.

I was very impressed how everything was explained to me knowing in what kind of situation i am in and also what will be the next steps to have my life back to normal without pain.

Five years ago I needed a knee replacement, so I was looking for a surgeon who was experienced and well respected. Dr. Craig Mahoney’s name was given to me. When I went in for a consultation, I met Casey Howe, Dr. Mahoney’s PA. I liked Casey from the very beginning. My first meeting revealed Casey’s honest and straight-forward approach to his profession. I felt secure in knowing I would be taken care of.This summer (five years later) I needed a knee replacement on my other knee. Having had previous experience with the Iowa Ortho team, I knew I was in good hands. I had no trepidation proceeding my second surgery. I have been treated with respect and compassion during this entire procedure. I can’t say enough good things about my Iowa Ortho team: Dr. Mahoney and Casey Howe.

Very bad experience today. Doctor Ash has never asked that we wear a mask (We have had multiple appointments). This is the interaction today, November 2, 2021 8:50 am to 9:45 am.We enter the building. Sit and wait (no mask) for our appointment. We get called in to the room (no mask).Doctor Ash comes in to the room: You have a couple tears, but Im recommending physical thera- Im going to need you to put your mask on.Us:I dont want to put the mask on doctor.Doctor Ash: Its our policy, Im sure there is signs on the door.Us: Yeah there is signs everywhere, you have seen me twice before this and you havent tried to make me wear a mask. (Johnson and Downtown)Doctor Ash: I must have been having a bad day on those days.Us: I dont think you were having a bad day and I dont think you are having a bad day today. So what? I dont need surgery.Doctor Ash: Just 10 minutes and we can finish this appointment.Us: Just physical therapy?Doctor Ash: Yes that is what I recommend and he walked out of the room.We have requested our medical records and MRI results. They said this could take up to 10 business days. We will see if we get them in a timely fashion.To anyone reading this: This is a problem. A doctor trying to with hold medical advice based on what you are wearing is not okay. We are FREE to make our own medical choices. Doctors need to understand that while you may have schooling the medical world is just a practice. We as consumers can decide whether or not we take your advice.
