Please whatever you do do not go here. My son was seen over month ago for non stop vomiting. They told us they would call to schedule a scope. I waited a week and called them back to be told it was someone else who scheduled and they would be getting a hold of me. It has now been a whole month and when I called back I told them my situation and I was upset but not screaming. She told me she would not talk to me if I talked to her like that. Then she transferred me with out telling me and nobody answered. Having to wait over a month to schedule a test they said he needed is ridiculous. In the meantime my son continues to throw up and now I have to go through the process of trying to find another specialist.

Very unprofessional services. I called them yesterday asking for updating my medicine with pharmacy and they said they would, but they did not. Today, I called twice and no one responded to my phone messages. I have been out of medicine since last 4 days because of the lack of communication between the pharmacy and the hospital. I feel the staff in this clinic is extremely unprofessional and they really do not care the patients and dont care about peoples life. I do not recommend you come to visit this clinic. Also, they changed doctors often. My previous doctors have left and I have to change the doctor again.

Been going to this place and jumping thru their hoops as others have for almost two years now. If you ever get a call back from them, go buy a Powerball ticket asap. This place is an absolute joke. After two years of stool samples, a colonoscopy, ultrasounds, an immeasurable amount of bloodwork, MRIs, CT scans, and they still had no clue so passed me onto a referral for U of Iowa hospitals...whose first appt was 7 months away, but I had/have nowhere else to go, as I have visited every emergency room in the area and each one has said you need to get back in to your GI doctor immediately. So last week I explained to the extremely rude receptionist others have mentioned of my situation, and she ASSURED me I would be getting a call back from their supervisor within the next ten minutes. Obv, two weeks later, still no call back. Last straw. Please for your own health and your loved ones health, please choose ANYWHERE other than here.I cant imagine if I was elderly and a patient of this place, or the horrible, trying experiences they all must be going thru.

Cant get anyone to call me back to even ask questions let alone schedule appointments. I only know test results because I see them on my patient portal. Called to leave voicemail with schedulers and their voicemails are full.

I was on hold for an hour, nobody answered and it has being 4 weeks since the pharmacy has tried to get them to approve my medecine in order for my insurance to pay for it. So annoying when I need them and they can get a response from the provider and I cant get a hold of the clinic.

Terrible experience. The turnaround time on results is until you call at least twice to hound them for results. I was given an upper endoscopy and never called with the results or medication recommendations. Found those out when I called for the results of a different procedure a month later. I had to make multiple in person appointments (during Covid) to be told they needed to do bloodwork. I was billed incorrectly. They charted me at the incorrect height (7 foot 11) and when I requested they change it, they changed it to 5 11 and I am 54. I could go on and on. If I could give negative stars, I would.

I went there on a couple of occasions and never got any answers to what was going on. I found it very difficult to talk to the doctors. I never felt like I was treated like a patient. all in all they were pretty unprofessional. And without I definitely wouldnt got a second opinion and now Im finally getting healed.

Make sure the appointment you make is the one that you need. I had to call 3 separate times over a month to schedule one procedure for a family member. Each one got canceled because they repeatedly made office visits even when we had a referral for a procedure. Incredibly frustrating staff.

Over the last month I have spent over 3 hours collectively on hold, waiting to talk to someone. Ive called different days of the week, different times of day, and I still have yet to speak to someone. Im convinced they dont have a single person answering their phones. Its impossible to do business with them when you cant contact them. Also, the doctors always leave. Ive had multiple doctors in the last couple of years because of turnover. I finally left for another office.

The staff always treats me very kindly. Dr. Zap has always listened to me when trying to understand my symptoms. Despite ongoing troubles, he has continued to try and find new medications, treatments, and tests that would possibly help me feel better. I have yet to feel better but Dr. Zap has not given up yet despite constantly seeing him with something new. All the nurses there are extremely kind as well, and the receptionists, scheduling staff, and billing staff have always been able to help me out and answer my endless questions and calls!I saw a gastrointestinal doctor at the University of Iowa hospitals (Dr. Soubra) and that guy was half as competent as the staff of Mercy GI Clinics. So now I always go back to the Mercy GI clinics when I am having issues. I trust that they will take everything I say into consideration and I always appreciate their help.

Nurses and Nurse Practitioner do not listen to my symptoms, I have been patient dumped into ER care while I wait for Mayo Clinic services that I had to make the appointment for myself with no help or referral.I was told they simply cant do anything else, and gave me a sample of a script for something that helps the exact opposite of what Ive been telling them my symptoms are.We will be filing a formal complaint with their manager and possibly the medical board.

My experience was strictly with Dr. Peter Grubel from when I was recently hospitalized. He had stated that since he was not sure of a diagnosis, he was going to stop all treatment. When I asked to be discharged sine there was no further treatment, I was given a lecture on how they would be penalized if I were to be admitted to the hospital again within 30 days. I didnt think that was an appropriate response on his part and neither were some of the other comments he made to me. He is a very unprofessional, arrogant and rude man. .

I think a lot of people visiting a specialty clinic are unfamilar with the fact that it takes time to diagnose. It also takes time to schedule appointments because theyre SPECIALISTS. Its not McDonalds. Dr. Zapatier did my scope twice while I was in the hospital so that tells me that he is not constantly in his office at the GI clinic. He also sees patients at the main Mercy hospital, therefore, he does not spend 8-5 waiting around the clinic for patients. I see a different female doctor at this clinic now only because she has a more open schedule and I have had no issues with any doctors there. Would have given it 5 stars but they do have a long wait time always when you call, but hey, no big deal. People need to understand doctors arent miracle workers. If you stop going in with the expectation that theyre some magical force that will solve all your health problems, you might actually stop being so disappointed. Just my experience...

My experience was great from my first interaction with the rejectionist, nurses and Dr. Zap. I was treated with dignity and respect, I definately appreciate their expertise and care in making my procedure as seamless as possible.

Every mercy in des Moines has tried to call the pain in my left upper side, ulcer pain..... from the walk in clinic that gave me a ulcer concoction that didnt help at all. Emergency room did the samething plus an xray. Then the gastronalist says the samething and that my heart needs looked at also. The pain has nothing to do with my stomach or food....... the pain is best described by looking up enlarged spleen. None of the medications mercy doctors have given me are in anyway helping, the meds have caused me to be sicker than I was, and I have been in pain for over a month fighting it. Im done with mercy! Never trusting them again when I got on the mayo clinic website and figured it out in ten minutes.

I saw the nurse practitioner for less than 5 minutes, she didnt listen to a word I said. She looked at my chart saw that the last scope showed some redness so scheduled scope with Dr. Zapata er. I waited 2 months for the scope. I saw Dr. Zapata er for a couple minutes before the procedure and had nothing to say but lets get started. He came and talked to me for a couple of minutes after scope and didnt reveal much but that office would be in touch. No followup with Dr no nothing. He works by sending notes to his nurse on what they found and his suggestion had them tell me if pain gets worse call. I couldnt believe it, I told the nurse I dont know how it could get any worse and explained. She sent a note back to doctor he sent note back to nurse, wants to do an ultrasound. I have no respect for this doctor. He cant communicate with his patients at all. When I asked for an appointment to see him, 3 months out. RIDICULOUS

Response times are horrendous. You have to hound the nurses to correspond with the doctors, vice versa. If I didnt call, know one would call me back.
